Um Yong Baek

Arrived unexpectedly at Um Yong Baek at 8.15pm. The restaurant was full and we managed to get a table at 8.24pm. Ordered a set of pork platter (medium) and an additional pork jowl. Two cold buckwheat noodles. And a hot pot of tofu. All I can say is that I am quite blown away by the meal. The pork was cooked to perfection. The buckwheat was delicious, especially the dried version. The sesame oil accentuated well with the noodles. Our waiter Chin provided excellent service at Um Yong Baek by grilling every piece of pork collar, belly and jowl to perfection. He even recommended the suggested methods to consume each piece of meat such as with green chili and garlic, or barley and bean paste. We especially enjoyed the complementary anchovy sauce as it paired excellently with the succulent and tender meat. The mushrooms topped with truffle were juicy, and the tofu stew was light and heartening. Overall a delightful and delectable meal! Spent about $288.95

This place is probably one of the best Korean food that I have eaten for the year. Got lucky with a walked-in. The atmosphere really vibes. Highly recommended for small group of friends or maybe around 5 ppl. Reason being that the grill is centered among everybody. We are a group of 4 so we ordered the medium set with the truffle mushrooms. Half not expecting there will be someone servicing and cook for us so this experience is kinda nice. Our server, Lee is service oriented and he really knows his stuff on the meat and which meat pairing to go to. At the end of the serving, we are really full. In conclusion, Service: 10/10 Food: 10/10 Price: 9/10 (is definitely on the pricier end but the service made up for it) *Disclaimer: my own experience. For full experience do give it a try.

Authentic Korean comfort food done right! This Korean rice soup place is such a gem. The dishes taste truly authentic, and you can tell they put real care into the flavours. The kimchi and small side dishes are perfect — fresh, balanced, and super satisfying. Highly recommend the cold noodles with perfectly grilled pork neck — the combination of chewy noodles and smoky, tender pork is amazing. The bone soup rice with spring onion is another standout: it looks light but is actually very hearty and filling, with a rich, comforting broth that warms you up instantly. Also, a small tip: make a reservation if you can, otherwise you might end up waiting quite a while for a table, especially during peak hours. And note that BBQ is only available for dinner.

TlDR: Flavourful meat soup/broth with tender slices of pork and rice prorridge. Fantastic Asian comfort food. If you're feeling under the weather, recovering from illness or just feel the need for an ahjumah's warm embrace, you have to shortlist UYB's Daejigukbab for a meal. Went specifically for lunch so that I can try the singanature Daejigukbab. It's not available for dinner. It's rice porridge with either a thick/richer soup, or a clear/cleaner broth with different cuts of pork. The clear soup I ordered was clean tasting and flavourful, and the slices of pork was tender with fat but not greasy, and delicious. Rice porridge was perfect for my low carb preference, but might not be enough for big eaters. Expect a wait without reservation. Banchan/side dishes were good, but limited in range.

The pork meat was tender- the essence of the meat came out with the dash of toppings added on top. Meat was melt-in-your mouth! Simply delicious! :) Server Lee did a wonderful and detailed job of cooking the meat for us and explaining to us the different toppings and how they elevated the flavour. A 5 stars place indeed! We were assisted by Sonia, very helpful and made sure to have full experience. We ordered uyb medium set, truffle mushrooms and cold noodle to finish. All are awesome even the sauces and side dishes

One of the best restaurant in singapore. Great food. Great ambience. Perfect experience from booking to being welcome warmly by the manager, to getting order up to cooking and until we finish eating. Great experience to spend a busy monday after work with this restaurant I really feel pampered and well taken care of by the entire staff. Specially by Dan the manager and the server Tina who attended out order. I will go back here and invite my friends cause it is worth every penny. Grilled mushrooms are to die for. We ordered the pork meal set and it was a blast. The sauce blend perfectly. It was a level up experience of what we usually go to in a kbbq resto.

First time here & most usually go for the standard sets just S, M or L. We went for the S for 2 persons, 4 mushrooms & a kimchi soup, but it was too much for us already. The kimchi soup has to be one of the best I've had, but the meat sets are ok. Service was very good & a guy was helping us cook everything then making sure we tried all variations of eating the meat. Their sides are not the usual sides at most Korean bbq places & its mostly veggies. Overall, it's not too bad & feels more healthy.
