Umami by Han

I really liked this restaurant, the hostess and waiter where very friendly and helpful. But we where there for the food. They had a special x-mas menu and we went for 6 courses. It started with a beautiful oyster and they even had a course with some turkey. But the star of the day was the lobster. Cooked to perfection, so many restaurants overcook it, but here they nailed it. Everything had asian flavours witch made it a nice change for the French we normally have. We will be back. 😋

I went here with my amex dining for 2 and was amazed by quality of food and service. My girlfriend is vegeterian and therefore was a bit cautious regarding the set menu amex had. Fear not though, the chef made all unique vegeterian orders which was more dleicious than meat option imo. This restaurant makes you feel like your a dining at the Michelin place. Would definitely come back!

Excellent food. We had the happy hour oyster special (2 steamed or raw oysters + a drink). We tried both raw and steamed - the raw oysters are better. Cava and the nojito mocktail were both great. the Seafood (3-course) Menu for 2: 1st Course: Oyster (excellent) + Beetroot Salmon (ok) 2nd course: steamer scallops + steamed black cod salmon - these were perfectly cooked, evenly inside and out, without any hint of rubbery overcooked texture. I suspect they were cooked with sous vide. The soy sauce seasoning was excellent, a bit salty to compensate for the mildness of the natural scallop/cod flavors. The garlic (scallop) and chili pepper (cod) were helped 3rd course: steamed half-lobster (good) + 4 mango prawns (cold, otherwise ok) + half a dozen mussels with herb & leek noodles). The mussel and noodles were my favorite part. The noodle texture was somewhere between soft and al dente but not overly oily or buttery like many seafood asian restaurants. I added jasmine tea (good but not remarkable). Reservations: make a reservation in advance, it gets pretty busy starting 6:30pm. We had to reserve on TheFork.nl because Umami’s website reservations were not working. Couple notes: happy hour (5-6pm) is nice and quiet, not many diners until 6pm and it picks up and gets moderately noisy. We had to speak up a bit to hear but it was still nice. Service: the waitresses were polite, friendly, and spoke excellent English. They left plenty of time between courses. However, it took 20 minutes to get our check. We had to ask two waiters, one of whom forgot and had to be reminded. Despite being trapped waiting for the check, the experience was great and I’d only recommend not trying to combine the happy hour with a long sit-down dinner. Total was about €130 (~$153) for two.

Our first restaurant we booked through the amex dining for 2 and I have to say it was a bullseye 😊! This is exactly the type of restaurants we like! Great food in a stylish place with friendly people. We'll definitely come back to an Umami restaurant when we have the chance!

We had an amazing dinner tonight here. I am Asian and a very fussy eater and there were so many delicious dishes beautifully prepared that you can choose from. Great modern fusion flavors to some traditional dishes and generous portions served in tapas style. We had 24 dishes between the four of us, all part of our social dining menu. Too many stand out dishes, but a few of our favorites were the shellfish salad, truffle halibut, beetroot salmon, ginger chicken, mango prawns, Iberico pork loin, Unami duck, veal entrecôte, and eggplant beef, black cod, Vinai beef and Chili Iberico ribs. I highly recommend dinner here. The service was very friendly and helpful.

Wonderful food, we had the gastronomic menu with tea arrangement. Only thing was that it was so busy that the timing of the service was off and it took fairly long. We were there for 4 hours, got food sometimes with the tea much later or vice versa and a wrong dessert, which was a shame, but the waitress stayed friendly and we were compensated when the bill came. Overall a good experience and the food was amazing.

I was there with My wife. Very nicely decorated restaurant. Great service and great food. We had the lunch menu. Portions seemed small, but were packed with flavour and somehow filling. We will definitely be going back 😲😊

We had an amazing experience at Umami by Han in Eindhoven. My boyfriend and I chose the social dining menu and added one dish from the street food menu, and honestly, everything exceeded our expectations. Every single dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor, creative, well-balanced, and clearly made with great attention to detail. The social dining concept was perfect for sharing and tasting a variety of dishes, and the street food item was just as impressive. What really made the evening special, though, was the service. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful. They made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in and were happy to explain the dishes and offer recommendations. From start to finish, the experience was flawless: great atmosphere, outstanding food, and top-notch service. Umami by Han is definitely a place we’ll be coming back to, and one we’d highly recommend to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in Eindhoven.
