This happened at Umami Sushi in Las Vegas: my family was harassed, followed, and called slurs by a group of white people.
They threw items, yelled the R slur at us, and mocked us in a fake Korean accent.
The management did nothing and still made us pay. The people behind us threw five items at us: an ice cube, a chopstick wrapper, another ice cube, an ice cream cap, and a wet paper towel. We complained to the server, but they did nothing.
The harassment escalated when my cousin went to the bathroom.
Four of them followed her to the bathroom. While she was washing her hands, they banged on her door. We brought this up to the managers, but they did not do anything. Many customers saw this happen, and one went up to a server to complain about them. Yet, they still did nothing.
We had lost our appetite and were only halfway through our meal, just getting our round of sushi after appetizers, but they required that we pay the full charge. We tried to dispute the payment because they were still harassing us, but they wouldn't let us leave unless we paid.
The five white people left right after we did and slowly walked in the direction of our car. They then referred to my cousin, who was having a panic attack in the car, saying, "Where's the one with the big chin?"
I'm begging and pleading for restaurants to protect customers from harassment. This isn't the first time situations like this have happened specifically at Dragon Factory Restaurants in Las Vegas. Please boycott them and their restaurants.
