Excellent restaurant in Naples we were very pleased, especially for the fish of the day which was succulent! Cooked to perfection. The other fish in the menu with some crumbs was also delicious, and a special mention for the grilled zucchini’s which have some lemon and were the best we’ve had in Naples by far! Good waiters, restaurant started getting busy towards 8.30/9pm. Decent prices. Highly recommend!

We went to Umberto’s upon a friend’s recommendation and we had such a lovely evening. This family restaurant (3rd generation if I’m not mistaken) is proposing classic Napoli’s cuisine with family recipes on the menu. It’s the best food we’ve had in Italy so far: tasty, fresh, delicious! Massimo was very attentive to all guests and did help us select some dishes for the special occasion. The staff was super nice, present yet discreet throughout the diner. I highly recommend and we will return next time we are in Naples.

They managed to squeeze us in for a quick lunch during our family holiday to Italy. Restaurant is in a lovely spot in a nice part of the city, fairly easy to find. The food was really good. We had simple pizza and pasta dishes, but some of the other things being carried past smelt absolutely delicious, too. The pizza was some of the best we had in Italy - you know it's good when the kids enjoy eating the crusts as much as the toppings. The gluten free pizza was also delicious. Staff were very friendly and it was a lovely atmosphere - slightly more formal than other places we visited, but still very relaxed. Would love to go back if we visit Naples again.

1 of the best meals I’ve had during my southern Italy trip! We went without expectations but was blown away by the quality of food and service we received! It was a Tuesday night but the restaurant was packed to the brim! Recommend to walk in as soon as they open to secure seats. The servers working there were all old time staff who definitely knew their stuff. I highly recommend the tomato cod ragout! It was our favorite among all the dishes! 👍🏻♥️

What an evening, I had good expectations of this place, reading reviews online. However, I was disappointed to say the least. The bread was excellent, but it went downhill from here. The starters were below par, which began the meal with a bitter taste in our mouths, and a fear for what was to come… I ordered the seafood risotto for my main and on the first bite it was clear that the fish had not been swimming for a long time… sub par for a restaurant that praises its fresh fish. The waiter tried to con me saying that it was disclosed on the menu that the fish was frozen. In what kind of restaurant would that be okay or appealing?! The genovese was the saving grace, otherwise fried pizza was the next move. Overall, soulless and saltless, except for the bread. Wouldn’t recommend to a friend :(

Google
Great food, great atmosphere! Gluten-free pizza was so good 😊 it’s also air-conditioned in the restaurant. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Umberto's is a delicious high-quality restaurant in the heart of Naples! Everything from the service to the food and plateware are awesome. If you're looking for a real authentic Napolese restaurant experience, this is the place for you. As far as food recommendations, anything that's highlighted as a specialty you cannot go wrong with. I went with a super tasty pizza: Nonna Ermelinda - Buffalo milk mozzarella, neapolitan meat ragù (beef and pork) and meatballs

Yelp
Pizza pizza mmm this was another great pizza place. The server was nice and explained the pizzas. The margarita was excellent great sauce and excellent crispy crust. Another great find in Naples

Yelp
We stopped in today with a local food tour. We had the Margherita and the Marinara pizzas. They were outstanding! Flawless even. The flavor of the Marinara sauce was wonderful. And the color on the bottom crust was perfect. I really enjoyed the food and the service was excellent. I can't wait to get back.

Yelp
Do not go here if you are a person of color. The staff is extremely racist and rude. We were ignored and told to sit in the back. Then moved to a table even further out of view. We then waited for twenty plus minutes just to receive water and we had to physically get up and find our waiter just to get our order taken. We then watched as a white family next to us was immediately seated, welcomed, and serviced. This was honestly the worst and most racist experience I have had in the twenty first century eating out. It culminated in us paying for our food and leaving before it came because of how unwelcome and uncomfortable they made us feel. Terrible, terrible, terrible place and business.

Yelp
My husband and I arrived at the opening time without reservations and were lucky enough to be seated right away. The restaurant has a great ambiance and it quickly filled up. Everything we ordered was fabulous. We didn't get the pizza, but instead Cesar salad mediterranea ( with eggs), pasta nerano, and several sides: zucchine, peperoncini, melanzane, and a wonderful local white wine. The service was exceptional. Everything was so delicious! It was overall one of the best evenings of our vacation to Italy. We will be back.

Yelp
Food was great, service was excellent. If you are looking for a restaurant that maybe caters to tourist eating hours (aka Americans) but still maintains quality of food and service, then this is your place. Pizza and pasta were both excellent. Will definitely come back here.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant with world class staff and a simple yet ambitious menu that is executed in a perfect manner. The pizza is fantastic, the mozzarella, the cheese all blend in a perfect soupy texture that enhanced all the flavors on a crust that completes this dish. The pasta is cooked more Al dente than soft. For those turned off by Al Dente, don't be. Try it here, because their execution beats five star restaurants in Manhattan, NYC where Im paying 3x if not 4x times the price. The complimentary and fair priced still water is a great addition as well. One highlight item I'd like to add is the meatballs as an appetizer. Best meatballs hands down... Yes they beat grandma's. I love umbertos, it caters to Americans /English yet it doesn't exploit them with high prices and lower quality food. Out of every restaurant tried in our ten day tour of Italy... Umbertos wins.

Yelp
We came to dine at the restaurant twice the time we spent in Naples. This was the only dinner restaurant we have dined twice in, but that is because Umberto is super delicious and opened whenever we are hungry (we were dining at American times and not Italian times). The restaurant is typically empty at 7-7:30, but will gradually fill up as the night go on. My boyfriend and I had the same thing both times - grandma's meatballs for the appetizer, the spaghetti vongole for me and the Margherita pizza for him. The meatballs were the best meatballs I had ever had in my life. I can't even describe in words - just go to Umberto and try it!! The pasta dish was also the best pasta I have ever had. The perfect consistency of spaghetti in a light olive oil and garlic sauce with clams. I dream about the day I can return to Naples and try Umberto again.

Yelp
This is really an excellent restaurant! Great chose of fish, meat, vegetarian, pasta, pizza... Both traditional and more modern dishes! Very fresh ingredients and pasta. A broad variety of wines, from 8 to 25 euro for a bottle. I would definitly recommend this place!

Yelp
This was the best meal we had in Naples. Everything was simple but excellent products, presentation and delicious. The best Caprese salad we had including throughout Capri itself! We split one, as it's quite big, and it was wonderfully presented and delicious. I had the classic Napolitan pizza, again very simple and delicious. I had the Panna Cotta for dessert which was thick, creamy and delicious. Did I mention everything was delicious? Very good wine list with a good choice of Italian wines. Again the best meal we had in Naples and certainly not more expensive than the others.

Yelp
My friend and I called ahead to make sure a table would be available when we arrived. She was told that we may have to wait 10-15 min but that if we showed up before 9pm we would be fine. My friend asked the gentleman she speaking with if we could make reservations and put our name on the list. He said they didn't take reservations. So We arrived at 8:15pm and the front of the house was packed but there were some tables in the back. The woman who greeted us told us immediately that they were full and that she had a list of people who called in that were ahead of us so they wouldn't be able to accommodate us. We immediately explained that we had called and that were told if we came in straightaway. That we would be seated within 15 min or so. Well, both the owner and the woman speaking with us looked preplexed. Then the gentleman (owner), said well my nephew answers the phone let me go check something. So when he came back he said no problem, we have a table for you right away. He apologized profusely and offered us two free glasses of wine for the confusion. So, his nephew was able to verify that he had spoken with us and we were given a table in the restaurant. The food itself was just "ok" to me. I ordered the fried mozzarella, and it literally was like an entire block of cheese broken down into 4 pieces and lightly battered and fried. I couldn't even get a quarter of it down. It's something you should share with more than just two people. I had pasta and my friend had a seafood one. I will say that our service overall was good. The waiter was really attentive, and brought everything out and checked on us regularly. I appreciate them accommodating us. The prices were reasonable. But then again I'm used to prices of meals in Paris, so we got a bargain.

Yelp
Awesome Gluten Free Food!! My wife and i are both Celiacs and she got the Octopus Soup (which was delicious) and I got the the Pizza Napoletana Senza Glutine (Gluten Free) and it was great! I really recommend this restaurant

Yelp
We're visiting Naples and learned about Umberto as we were walking in the neighborhood. We saw that they specialize in pizza and that's what we wanted to eat for lunch. It was a quiet Friday afternoon and that was good for us. The staff was attentive and when the pizza came, e delizioso! Grazie!

Yelp
My husband's grandfather loved this place, so it wasn't a total surprise that they had just celebrated their centennial in 2016. Our son, who has a refined palate, proclaimed that the spaghetti all vongole was the best pasta he'd ever eaten. The look on his face told me he was honestly impressed. Go here if you want authentic Neapolitan food.

Yelp
The food and prices are on par for Naples, but the service/ambiance leaves a lot to be desired. Given there are plenty of other places with good food in the area, I probably wouldn't return here. We had two pizzas during a late lunch (~3pm) on a Saturday. When we showed up, the place was surprisingly packed given the time. Most people appeared to be finishing lunches or just having wine, though, and it was basically empty an hour later. It aims for this old charm, touting its 1916 foundation date everywhere. However, it comes across more as a facade with little heart/history behind it; the waiters go through the motions without showing actual care/interest for the customers there. Will it do the trick if you're hungry? Sure. If you can't read/speak a word of Italian, they have English menus and most of the wait staff speaks English, so it has that going for it. Will you leave feeling like just another table turned over? Pretty much. The coffee bar at the fancy grocery store across the street will make you feel more appreciated.

Yelp
Nice friendly place in the historic neighborhood. The food wasn't fantastic, but is was good and an exceptional value. Everything from the bread to the dessert was fresh and flavorful. A good meal out the door with appetizer and desserts but no booze was $50.

Yelp
This is a nice restaurant in a very nice street in the heart of Naples. The service was great and the atmosphere comfortable. I had the gnocchi with clams and mussels, it was very delicious are arrived in good time. My colleague had the pizza and said it was also tasty. As for the price, it is as advertised €€€. No surprises. You can even read the menu before you go inside. If you want something less expensive there are many more options to choose from.

Yelp
One of the better meals we had in Italy. Had some time to kill before taking the train back to Rome so stopped by here. Didn't have a reservation so they sat us in the back of the restaurant which I guess is reserved for walkins. Anyways, ordered an appetizer trio that was very good and I ordered their grilled spinach which was fantastic. For entrees, I ordered a margherita pizza and it was very solid. Wife ordered basic spaghetti which she liked. I tried it and thought it was okay. Service was extremely friendly. Probably amongst the best we experienced in Italy. Prices were very reasonable. All in all, a very good place to grab some food.

Yelp
I truly enjoyed my meal at this place. A simple spaghetti with fresh tomatoes: al dente. It was marvelous. The place was packed and was busy. It's an old mainstay and has great pizza as well. But I felt a little lost in the crown and a little packed in to get as many seats as possible. They are in the heart of Naples and many people, tourists included are cramming in there. Overall a very good meal and I would recommend going, but a little crowded as I said. If you don't mind, the food is great!

Yelp
I'll be brief. If you want to pay €8.50 for a pizza that costs €4.50 almost everywhere else, but doesn't taste any better... Umberto's is the place. Don't get me wrong, the food is good, you are just paying for the location of the restaurant not the taste of the food.
