"Uncle Bill’s Pancake House is a safe space for the person who always orders pancakes for the table. The breakfast spot has been a beach tradition since it first opened in Stone Harbor in the early ‘60s, and nowadays, the Avalon cafe is one of seven locations along the coast from Ocean City to Cape May. Come for basic (but very good) buttermilk pancakes, or a version made with Iowa corn, or flapjacks speckled with chocolate chips or topped with all manner of fruit. Go with your whole group, or sneak out of the house before everyone else wakes up to order a couple of short stacks “for the table.”" - Regan Stephens

It's diner food in a tourist town. Food proportion was generous. Quality was OK. Perhaps my expectations was raised by the price. My "Golden Brown Waffle" was just a plain waffle with butter and sugar powder. It was kind of thin for, I think, $15 or $16. Plus it wasn't really golden brown. My wife ordered the Hawaiian Ham and pineapple with potato pancake. The potato pancakes has a lot of shredded potatos and flour but they were undercooked. Food were served quickly but maybe a little too quickly. Our waitress was friendly and nice. Prices in general are on the high side but it's expected in a tourist town.

This place used to be an institution at the shore but the quality, service, and value have considerably regressed. The service was very disappointing and the staff only engaged with customers to try and turn over tables. The Wawa across the street had better and nicer service. The food was extremely overpriced and the quality was mediocre. It’s also disappointing there is no menu for kids. I would recommend finding another brunch/breakfast place that has better food/service/value.

We have been dining at Uncle Bill’s for a long time. The food and service are both good. Over the years, it has become somewhat expensive, adversely affecting the overall experience so we have pretty much moved on to other better alternatives notwithstanding many fond memories.

If you're in Stone Harbor and looking for a great omlette, head to Fishin Pier, but if you are in the mood for some delicious pancakes, then Uncle Bill's is THE place. They have all kinds of different options, and from personal experience, I can say they are great. Since I also love eggs I went for option #12 --- pancakes, one egg, and crispy bacon (see photo). Yum 😋. I cleaned the plate. The staff is friendly and helpful. It is also very clean.

Google
I will never understand the hype of this place. The food is so, so over priced and nothing special. They’re also never consistent with the amount of food you get in an order. Sometimes a side of bacon will come with 2 small slices, other times 5 large slices. I ordered French toast and got 4 halves, two days later went again and got 8 halves for the same exact thing!

I love a breakfast diner but this didn’t do it for me. The food was Waffle House quality with IHOP prices and just didn’t quite hit the spot. Take that for what you will. Nevertheless, it’s a cute spot, nice location and our server Olivia was great.

Uncle Bills has good food, and tasty options. The wait staff, however, needs some work. Uncle Bills is an extremely popular place to eat in Stone Harbor. The food is tasty, and there are a number of different options, from omlets to pancakes to crepes. The first time I went there, the service was simply horrible. The food took forever to get to the table, the wait staff was slow, bordering on rude, and there was peanut butter on my spoon. A lot of pb on my spoon. They also wouldnt split the which *really* upset me. I decided to give them a second chance. This review is the 2nd chance. We were seated fairly quickly (party of 6), but we were not seated together. There was a large party of 15 there, so I understood not being seated together, but it put the kibosh on any conversation with the others in our party. Our waitress was efficient but not overly friendly. She took our order and the coffee and juice took quite a while to reach us. In fact, the coffee arrived mere moments before the food (2 omlets and an order of apple cinnamon pancakes). Refills on the drinks didn't happen. The food was tasty and hot, and the serving sizes were decent for the price. I believe the main problem I have with Uncle Bill's is that the entire wait staff appears to be under the age of 21. It's not the age, necessarily, but perhaps more the inexperience. A little more hustle and a little more caring about the job would go a long way. These points aside, I would give Uncle Bill's a try if you're ever in Stone Harbor.

We came here and waited for a little bit for a table. I asked for hot water and the water I was given had a bunch of disgusting small crumbs and other random debris in it. They gave me a new one but I didn't even want to drink that because of how grossed out I was. The service is ok and the food is yummy but forgettable.

Yelp
Uncle Bill's Pancake House is known for its hearty breakfast and friendly service. The atmosphere is classic diner, with plenty of booths and counter seating. The pancakes are fluffy and delicious, and the portions are generous. The omelets are also a popular choice, packed with your favorite fillings. We loved the pumpkin pancakes! While the food is good, the service can be a bit slow, especially on busy weekends. If you're looking for a classic breakfast experience, Uncle Bill's Pancake House is a good option. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait, but the food and the nostalgic atmosphere are worth it.

Yelp
Steeped in Stone Harbor tradition, Uncle Bill's is THAT girl for beach town breakfast. But I'll just say it: it was more than $110 before tip for 4 people to have coffee and breakfast at a diner. WHAT?! What? Huh? What? Wait, what? If the Jersey Shore is to represent the heart of Americana where families can go to have an enjoyable beach vacation, we've lost the goddamn plot here. Okay, rant over because this is in fact Stone Harbor and I guess I should know better. Other than the price of your nostalgic experience, everything is fabulous. Nice service, good food (bury me in a pile of these home fries), and the pancakes are what light and fluffy dreams are made of. We got there before 10am on a Sunday and were seated without issue, though this was at the end of the season so I would expect a wait otherwise. I would go back for the experience and the food! Enjoy your beach vacation and don't forget to bring cash.

Yelp
Great service and delicious food. Have been coming for years, but only come for breakfast. I love the waffle, poached/fried/scrambled eggs to order, pancakes, and crispy bacon! The Eggs Benedict are pretty good too

John L.

Yelp
Fast friendly and pancakes amazing would go back anytime while Visiting stone harbor

Michelle K.

Yelp
We were in the area for a wedding and found this cute pancake house. We only had to wait a few moments for a table, which I was surprised because we came in around 10 on a Sunday morning. Everyone is friendly and the food comes out quick. The coffee is not great, but it's caffeine so I'm happy. The pancakes are delicious. The bacon is super crispy. My husband got the pork roll and it was thick slices of deliciousness. The eggs were good, nothing crazy. I would probably stick to their pancakes/French toast if we have a chance to come back. Prices are a little wild. $3.75 for coffee. 3 pancakes, eggs and bacon is $16.75. I get that prices are going up everywhere, but that just seemed a little steep.

Mikayla K.

Yelp
The pancakes were warm and buttery, and the omelette was cheesy and cooked to perfection. The waitress was really nice and the place was clean and family friendly.

Dan D.

Yelp
Best pancakes Ever! Love this place. Service is always exceptional. Management is A+

DA B.

Yelp
Food is complete trash. I ordered pickup, the food was cold and unappetizing. They charged me 4 dollars for a side of hollandaise sauce. I was baffled when I saw that they had maybe given me a tablespoon of extra sauce in a minuscule plastic cup. On top of that the food was also extremely overpriced. I will not be coming to this place ever again and would recommend you to avoid this place at all costs. Thanks

Mags M.

Yelp
Great place for a lowkey diner breakfast in Stone Harbor. Expect a wait at key breakfast times but a menu with something for everyone. Great corned beef hash as a side and love you get to pick either shredded potatoes or cubed potatoes for hashbrowns.

WV B.

Yelp
Ladies on the staff were great. Food portions are generous and nice price points for the family. Speedy service and clean environment with nice clientele. Wife and animal very happy.

Danielle B.

Yelp
Been coming to this place for over 12 years now. I try a differing pancake each time. Service is fast. Depending on time of arrival, will have to wait to be seated. Arrival this past visit was 915am - our family if 4 was sat quickly. About 30min after our arrival there was a line out the door. My pancakes were the special for the day; blueberry pecan.

Bob T.

Yelp
In Stone Harbor and Cape May we have had Great service, great food every summer for the last 10 years!

Lydia C.

Yelp
Let me start by saying, I love the Jersey Shore! I grew up in Avalon and have been coming down here every summer since I was a little girl. Uncle Bill's has always been huge in my family, my mom and aunt worked there, I know it well! I like to go every summer, because I live in Wildwood now and we don't have on here only in Cape May and Stone Harbor, so my husband and I decided to take a day trip to Stone Harbor! But it has just gotten way too expensive!!!! It's like a drop of chocolate milk for five dollars!!!! It's bizarre!!!! I was there with my husband, and I got the blueberry pancakes....I thought they were stale and you could taste the flour, but it could've been just me because my husband, the foodie that he is, said they were fine. My 15 year old son, Liam, asked me to bring him home chocolate chip pancakes, so we did....not only did we get a chocolate chip waffle. I was shocked, but there really isn't a huge difference....I did not tell Liam about how I thought my pancakes were but he said the same thing! You could taste the flour and they were stale!!!! Bizarre!!!! I much rather pay this much money for decent, well cooked food.

Arceli L.

Yelp
This place has absolutely lost their dang minds with the prices. If you're not getting pancakes, there's no easy way to add an egg and meat to your meal. You'd have to pay $6.50 for an egg and toast and about $5-6 for sausages and bacon. The price difference between just their pancakes and their "special" that adds eggs and meat is $5. The food is mediocre. Their French pancakes, which are advertised as coming with strawberry preserves, are served with 3 Smucker's jam packets on the side. You know, the same packets they keep at diner tables to serve with toast. It's clear that no one here understands how even minimal plating can elevate a meal experience.

Yelp
We had a great after party breakfast Gathering ! The food and service was great! Thank you for your kindness to the management Best time

Tim H.

Yelp
Great service, great pancakes (corn and pumpkin). A bit pricey. Good coffee. Will return!!

Earl H.

Yelp
Perfect scrapple Wild bill special perfect for those over 55!! Pancakes were nearly perfect in taste and highest quality in my travels!!! Service was very good and timely ( within minutes or faster) Would recommend for those who travel often and ride the causeway back home!!!

Margie R.

Yelp
Really good Covid protocol. Clean the service and food was great! No a very long wait. Quick services and didn't wait long for my food or my drink. And bathroom were super clean.

Fnur S.

Yelp
Came here with people who have been coming here for 40 years, so there was some real anticipation ... and .... Blah. Meh. Nurrrr... Choose your favorite adjective for mediocre. Overpriced, skimpy portions, minimum effort short order cooking, minimal service ... I could carry on, but I'll just summarize with this: Denny's is a lot better. Denny's. I won't come back if it's half price day. Get the pic?

Jeff R.

Yelp
Even though this was a busy Saturday at the shore, we had a party of five seated promptly. Our server Lindsey, was a real pro. Managing several tables and took care of us with zero slip ups and a real great attitude. My steak and eggs with a side of pancakes were excellent. My wife loved her shredded home fries, eggs and bacon. A tremendous experience with sensational service.

Joe V.

Yelp
Wow what a great place, nice staff, great eats. I had a scrambled egg and Taylor on a Kaiser and some home fries. Yum yum! Actually WAY too much food! I asked for a scrambled egg, I think I got like three eggs!! Prices are great and staff is super friendly! Making the Jersey shore proud!!

Carol F.

Yelp
Rude hostess. The breakfast was fine. The blonde, female hostess on Monday morning was not. She asked how our meals were and we said "just fine but the bacon was overcooked to the point where some of it was charred ". She replies "everyone else likes it that way. If you want yours raw - just tell us next time." There won't be a next time.

Çlaire H.

Yelp
A very expensive breakfast that was NOT very good. $18.39 for the 7 Mile Special with coffee and juice. The home fries were more like tater tots that were greasy and tasted vaguely like fish. And the bacon which I ordered "soft" and heard the waitress tell the kitchen "soft" was shriveled and burnt. OJ tasted watered down. They were closing in a half hour and service felt rushed. Two thumbs down for food and service.

Jen L.

Yelp
Meh. We totally regret coming here, but keep in mind, we did NOT have any breakfast food, but lunch and almost no other place was open to get lunch (our fault for places shutting down for the season, plus COVID and shortage of staff). 2 of us ordered burgers, figured you can't really go wrong with that, but boy were we wrong!!! Honestly, McDonald's has better quality meat than Uncle Bill's does. You almost couldn't tell that it was ground beef - the texture was very questionable, at best. Another person in our group ordered the club sandwich, and it was only so so. The server was friendly, but the food was just absolutely terrible (again, that's what we get for getting lunch food at a breakfast spot, but we didn't have many other options).

Milton R.

Yelp
Great breakfast, can't go wrong at any of the UBPH at the shore. A must stop during any vacation. Just get there early!

James K.

Yelp
Prices went up but the food and service are topnotch every time. Everything here is good.

Eric S.

Yelp
First we understand this is a tourist destination and prices reflect it, however we live in a beach tourist community and are accustomed to higher than normal prices, we call it the "bridge tax." The prices at this restaurant are over the top for a standard breakfast joint. $40 for one diet soda, order of pancakes, order of French toast and one side of sausage. Unless you have serious folding money I'd go somewhere else. Food was hot and tasty, served quick. Service was mediocre never refilled drinks, typical tourist restaurant flipping tables quick as you can! $$$$

Andrew B.

Yelp
Not the greatest not the worst hard to explain. Definitely overpriced for the quality and quantity they provide

Patrick M.

Yelp
Wanted a waffle. The Wildwood location was closed for the season. Have wheels will travel. Ended up in Stone Harbor and had their special ,which was pumpkin pancakes. It was awesome. Sevice was courteous and kind. The food was prepared quickly and the restaurant was clean and ambiance was great.. It was on the main thoroughfare so i was able to walk to the beach and window shop to burn off some of the calories off

Kim M.

Yelp
Pancakes. Ain't nothing wrong with that!!! Yea the wait to get into Uncle Bill's on a Sunday is about a half hour. Yea you have to sit in a 6 person booth that not the most comfortable. But damn son!! Those pancakes are so good!! I had the pumpkin pancakes with cinnamon sugar and bacon. The perfect combination of sweet and salty!! Happiness on a plate!!

Annie B.

Yelp
A true classic. There's nothing like Uncle Bill's, and it never disappoints! The blueberry pancakes are my favorite.

Jamie S.

Yelp
Got seated right away no wait which was nice. Got the buttermilk pancakes which were great and sausage links also great. Service was quick. Very casual decor. Lengthy menu with different breakfast variations which was cool. Overall a fast dining experience. Glad we stopped in.

J B.

Yelp
By far the best breakfast place in the area. Of course, the pancakes are great as well as the omelettes and everything on the menu

Patrick F.

Yelp
This is the place to go. As others would say, "this shit is bussin". If you are out with the boys the night before and woke hung af. Hop in the Moke and cruise down the uncle bills. Get your self the 7 mile special and enjoy the calm environment with beautiful waitresses. Great place all around. Stay safe. Food is amazing

Bill L.

Yelp
They have multiple locations which I have been to three of them. Food and service is always very good. You can't visit Cap May, Stone Harbor or Avalon without visiting Uncle Bill's.

Barbara V.

Yelp
Went to Uncle Bill's two days in a row. Service was fabulous. The chocolate chip banana pancakes were to die for!!! Will definitely go back there if we are back in town.

Jane M.

Yelp
Breakfast of Champions for sure. We were in Stone Harbor for a weekend getaway and walked into Uncle Bill's for breakfast. I haven't had pancakes in years and I decided to indulge. Wow - incredible. A great menu, terrific service and spotless restaurant. Be prepared to wait, we did and it was in the off season, I can't even imagine what it is like at the height of the summer. Go, wait and enjoy.

Jillian N.

Yelp
The ONLY breakfast spot you should go to in Stone Harbor. My family has been coming here for decades and it the best place on earth!!!!

Bumax L.

Yelp
Uncle Bill's is not what it used to be and that's sad. Before Covid they had quality food now they give you quantity not quality. You still pay the same price which is expensive. We need the Pudgie Pelican or the likes to come back to town. They were expensive but they gave you quality and quantity.

C S.

Yelp
Went with a party of nine, was sat immediately. Everyone's meal was delicious. Great service.

J R.

Yelp
Really overpriced and mediocre. The pancakes were like buttery glue. Not fluffy at all. Kids seems to really like it but I will pass next time.

Mike G.

Yelp
Had a great breakfast that served at lightning speed. Potatoes were way above average and delicious. Eggs , pancakes and French toast is all good. Certainly not a inexpensive breakfast but it's in stone harbor so expect to spend above average on everything. Super impressed with the speed and efficiency of the service.

Gwendolyn P.

Yelp
Although I have been going to the uncle Bill's pancake house in Cape May for years, I had never been to the one in Stone Harbor. Apparently, this is the original location which opened in 1962. We had a very nice experience, with friendly and prompt service. The prices were reasonable and the oatmeal cinnamon raisin pancakes did not disappoint. It would have been nice if real maple sera was an option.

Shazia K.

Yelp
Always love coming here for breakfast when I'm in Stone Harbor! The food is always good and the service is even better! I always love getting the Banana Walnut Pancakes!

Gia S.

Yelp
Uncle Bill's has been in Stone Harbor about as long as I can remember, and for a good reason: they really know a lot about customer service. We always have a great experience at Uncle Bill's, and they're also reasonably priced. We always get seated quickly, are given great friendly service, and we receive our food very quickly as well. Our orders are always done correctly and taste delicious. This time, I had the order of buttermilk pancakes and a side of toast, which were all really delicious. My boyfriend had eggs over easy, sausage, and a side of toast which he enjoyed. In the past, I've tried bagels and cream cheese which are also good. They're usually very good at keeping your cups of coffee and glasses of water topped off. We always come by to Uncle Bill's at least once per summer.

Larry G.

Yelp
I love breakfast but this place is terrible....overpriced, bad service, terrible quality-Brian's waffles house in Avalon much much bettered is diner near the acme-just terrible. My family has been coming here for fifteen years and it has slowly deteriorated to the point where i would rather starve then eat there...terrible

Stephanie M.

Yelp
Uncle Bill's is legit. The pancakes are delicious. Light, airy, bubbly, and swimming in an ice-cream scoop sized globule of butter (they need to chill). It's very simple and the food comes out in about 10 seconds. My first trip to Uncle Bill's I opted for my personal favorite, blueberry pancakes (with a side of bacon). They were good but all the blueberries were concentrated in the center so some bites were just hot explosions of blueberry juice. Perhaps some spacing out would benefit these. Second trip to Uncle Bill's I had eggs, bacon and plain buttermilk pancakes. Everything was great. The bacon here is amazing. Cooked perfectly, not too fatty and not too crispy. I like to douse it in maple syrup. Heavenly.

Kimberly B.

Yelp
Uncle Bills is a "jersey shore institution. " Our most recent visit was with our grown children, ages 22 and 23. My husband and myself had been to Bills many years ago when we were dating and married without children. They serve the standard breakfast fare featuring, of course, lots of pancake varieties!! The best part about Bills, is that it is always filled with families gathered at the Jersey Shore on vacation. You just know the tables full multi generational groups are making memories while enjoying a delicious breakfast. One notable fact about Bills is that you may use a credit card to purchase your meal, but they will not add the gratuity on. You need to leave your tip in the form of cash. Conveniently, they have an ATM in the restaurant.

Kim N.

Yelp
Always a great breakfast at Uncle Bill's. Had the French toast stuffed with cream cheese..it was great and not too sweet.
