Uncle Bud's Catfish Chicken & Such

We had a wonderful experience with a party of 8. The food came out fast and hot. Our server took great care of us. The sweet tea is sugar coma inducing yummy. Check them out! Our only advice to the restaurant cook is to prep the catfish by trimming off the dark bits prior to frying. That one change will bring me back a second time and likely greatly improve your business. The fish is only 3 out of 5 stars for me. It’s average, but has potential. Service was 5 out of 5.

It's been years since I have been to this place. The Mrs' likes Catfish so we visited this place. The place was so packed and very busy. Best fried catfish in town. Free coleslaw, white beans, and hush puppies while you wait on your order. It's definitely worth visiting if you like catfish. There's other stuff on the menu, but it's known for its fried catfish and sweet tea.

Very very family oriented and owned, very local warm and delicious - fixings are their side dishes - unlimited, hush puppies impossible to stop eating so beware! Fried chicken is great and prices are great! They do close at the time specified so arrive accordingly :))).

We had fun. Thank you for helping us celebrate my sister's birthday. She's only been here to Nashville for almost 3 years and had never eaten at your establishment, but this whole time was craving catfish. I didn't know anywhere else that we could take, but to Bud's, seeing that other places were too salty & yours was JUST right! The Hushpuppies are my favorite, along with the white beans and coleslaw. Might I suggest adding some tomatoes to the fixin's? And don't get me started on the sweet tea! PERFECTION! It was TRUE SOUTHERN SWEET TEA!

Uncle Bud’s is a Nashville staple for good food and good service. Today I had the chicken livers (yes my body appreciated the iron and nutrients of liver). They were delicious and fulfilling. The all you can eat sides that are delivered to the table are always nice. Slaw, beans, onion, pickles, and hush puppies are a must and they are always part of every meal.

I placed an order on May 4, 2025 with DoorDash for delivery from Uncle Bud’s in Lebanon, Tn. There was no pace to request condiments, so I called DoorDash for assistance. I was told they were closed and would open at 11:00 AM. I called at 11:02 and spoke with a female and made my request. I was told it would be taken care of. My order arrived and all three items were in one container. No condiments!!!! Still ok until I realized this food was not fresh! It had not been cooked that day? The pieces of fish were hard. The Oysters were all dried out. I even requested that they not over bread, or overcook them. I took photos immediately and called DoorDash. Then I called Uncle Bud’s to speak with the Manager on duty. I was told by a person who would not give her name to take the matter up with DoorDash. I spent $85.65 to receive old food and horrible Customer Service from Uncle Bud’s in Lebanon, Tn. Is this what customers should expect or just an off Sunday? I have no idea what all of these little pieces in the box are! Uncle Bud’s , This would never have been acceptable in the days before!!! Sara

Having never been to Nashville, or really anywhere in the south, I was looking forward to experiencing some genuine southern cuisine. And while I was disappointed with Nashville, in general, one thing I was not disappointed with was my visit to Uncle Bud's. The food was fantastic! Everything I had was amazing, and unlike anything I'd ever had before. I had catfish at a couple of other places in Nashville, including Caney Fork, and they weren't even close. This is THE place to go if you want a genuine southern catfish meal!

Love everything about this place. Our server Adrian was a real gem, management came to check on our meals, complimentary sides and sauces were phenomenal. Best beans and hush puppies I’ve had! Looking forward to eating here again in the future

I live in Washington state and travel a lot. Where I live we don't have fried catfish so on my work trip I got my fix! This place has an awesome throwback style feel on the outside, and is even more homey on the inside. There was a decent crowd (it was all-you-can-eat) day but since I was alone I was seated quickly. They immediately bring a heaping bowl of beans and white beans, which are accompanied by delicious hush puppies. The fried catfish was seasoned, crispy, and flavorful. Highly recommend! If you know you know. If you don't, get your ass to Uncle Bud's and eat!

Good tasty cajun fare. They bring fixins out family style then you get your meal. The biscuits were great, Cole slaw and beans played. Chicken was good especially with the Louisiana hot sauce. Would eat there again for sure.

Glad we found this casual country place. Lots of town folks there for a great deal on fried fish or chicken with all-you-can-eat fixins. We loved especially the jumbo, crispy hush puppies, the giant tea in mason jars and the garlic pickles. Nice, friendly service. We split a catfish and shrimp dish and paid a $10 Hilltopia Road up charge. Plenty of food for both of us.

Best food I've had this trip. The hush puppies were scrumptious, the country fried steak was perfect and the biscuits were heavenly. The service was great. I highly recommend this place.

Sooooooo good. The hush puppies and white beans are my favorite. The slaw and onion come in second place and the chicken third.

Lovely experience. I dined with my older father so we arrived before the dinner rush. I remember going here when I was a child years ago. We didn't even know there was an open location nowadays. This type of food is getting harder and harder to find in the Nashville area. Slaw, beans, pickles and hush puppies are served with every meal. Most diners choose between a large portion of catfish or chicken but the menu holds other offerings not found elsewhere, like gator tail. There's a large private parking lot. Old school flair decor makes me feel nostalgic. Our waiter was polite and accommodating.

Arrived at Nashville and seeking dinner. Not sure why but I was attracted to this place and what a place!!! Turned out it was started by a WW2 veteran; and is oozing with personality! Everyone was so nice and they made me feel right at home. I love the funny stuff all around the place. I got the catfish and shrimp combo with a side of gumbo. The gumbo was enough for a meal itself! I wanted so bad to try the peach cobbler but decided to skip it. I had way more than I cd eat as it was. The food was very good; though I got take out, I kinda wished I'd sat down. Excellent experience all the same. And it was 10 min from my room.

Worth the hype for sure! Got the catfish and shrimp combo. Everything well lived up to the reputation of a true Southern eatery!

Great food and tons of it. We ordered the all you can eat catfish and it was amazing. The hush puppies are fabulous.

I was craving some good fish and this place didn't disappoint! I ordered the 3-piece catfish fillet dinner from Uncle Bud's via Uber Eats. The meal included three pieces of fried catfish, a handful of fries, two hush puppies, slaw, white beans, two pickle spears, sliced onions, a lemon wedge, and four servings of tartar sauce. All were delicious! It was more than I could eat in one sitting. This place knows how to cook southern food! I normally don't like to eat white beans at restaurants because they usually aren't seasoned right, but this place nailed it. I would eat here again.

The food was so good and service was amazing!!!! It was our first visit and we are definitely planning on going back again.

I'm giving this Restaurant another 5 Stars! Let me tell you if you have not Been here to eat and you have been anywhere close to Nashville you missed out!!! True Southern hospitality! Five Star CatFish! Five Star Service! Five Star Staff! Now don't expect to put up in front of a big fancy looking building but who cares!!! Take a look at all the new catering trucking lined up around the back! if they are not already gone! Watch the number of carry out orders going in and out the door!! The pricing is affordable and you won't leave hungry!! When we are in Nashville we go here! Over and above anywhere in the city. We could afford to go wherever we want. We always choose Catfish at Uncle Bud's! Never a disappointment!!!

I'm visiting from New York and this is my first time at Uncle Buds. The service is good and the food is delicious. I like the ambiance as well.

I had the chicken livers delivered and they were awesome! Huge portion plus all the extras. Delivery was super fast and the food was still hot when I got it.

Just came home from a two-hour drive to Nashville for lunch at Uncle Bud's, and it was more than worth it! Our server, Ida, was so friendly and accommodating. She was wonderful! I had the two piece whole catfish dinner, and my husband had the four piece filet dinner. Both came with what I would call steak fries. With our meals came never-ending "fixings"--white beans, coleslaw, onion slices, pickles, and the best hush puppies we've had in a long time. My husband was not a huge fan of the beans, but that was only because he likes his beans cooked quite a bit and these were a little Al dente. Down-home atmosphere and prompt courteous service by everyone we encountered. We will definitely be back!

Tiyre is our server and not sure how he did it but he remembered our order without writing it down. We got a whole catfish dinner and a bayou platter. Each entree comes with all you can eat coleslaw, hush puppies, and, white beans. My eyes are bigger than My stomach. The helpings are huge!!! To say the least! That's why the line is down the street. Lol.... Just kidding a little! Come check it out it's on point! I'll be back soon!

It's always a pleasure to come here. The food is AMAZING! Our server Tabitha was Sweet & very attentive. The manager even came by to check on us. If you're ever in Nashville, you should definitely check them out!

Lots of great food! Got greeted immediately and seated right afterwards on a busy Saturday night. The delicious sides come first, so I was full before the main dish arrived. It was all So good!

Today was my first time eating at Uncle Bud's overall the food was good but the service sucked are waiter Jamie was very rude and didn't want too serve us she had a attitude in it showed on her face like she didn't want too be there if I ever decide to eat there again I will make sure to ask for a different waiter if they were ever too give us Jamie again!

Food good, enjoyed the navy beans, Cole slaw Fish good n hot, but the fried chicken would have been great except it was cold, biscuits were delish! Nice service, and great concept of all you can eat sides but we were too full for anymore!! Just like an old diner atmosphere!! If we're back in Nashville we would return!!

We were referred to uncle bucs oops, meant uncle buds, lol from the young lady at the gas station . We stopped in today and had a very warm and friendly greeting from the hostess . We were seated immediately. Our server was Jamie . She was very nice and continued to check on us. We ordered the Fish, Shrimp, clams and oysters . We had enough to share and brought the rest back to the hotel . They bring you white beans , hush puppies, creamy coleslaw, pickles and onions . It came out so fast we thought it was someone else's order . This is complimentary and it's all you can eat . Everything was great . Britney, the manager came over to check on us, then another manager, Steven came by to check on us . The service was outstanding . Next time, we are in Nashville we will definitely be back!

5 stars because Tabitha was such a great waitress. She was super nice, very professional!!!!! Did I say she was super nice!!!! Great lady!!!!! We were not a fan of the fried catfish although the next table over the man said he came in every week. The beans were very tasty

Great food and service. Seasoned fries were tasty as well as the white beans. This was a great meal all the way around. I'll be back on my next visit to Nashville.

We were in town visiting, and the front desk clerk gave us a list of local restaurants to check out and she said Uncle Bud's had good catfish. Well, she wasn't lying. The food was really tasty and the unlimited sides went well with the fish and shrimp entree. I only wished the fish filets weren't so small and thin, but every thing was seasoned and filling. Any time I'm back in the area I am DEFINITELY going back!!!

You get served bowls of beans and ham, awesome Cole slaw, hush puppies and pickles and onions. You can keeps asking more of any of these four. We had the catfish. It was breaded lightly and cooked great. They did have tarter sauce but was hoping fore a creole sauce to livin up the fish. Fish served with fries. This place is family friendly and can get a little loud. Didn't care for the hush puppies but the rest was good solid home cookin food.

Uncle Bud's definitely set the tone for our Nashville trip!!! We landed at the airport, picked up our rental, and drove a few minutes to this spot we found on Yelp (thanks Yelp!). We had no idea what we were in for. Immediately and throughout our visit, we were blessed with their southern hospitality. The staff was so sweet, polite, and kind, especially our server Wendi. The menu is small, but the food is mighty! Complementary side dishes include white beans, coleslaw, and hush puppies. Every Thursday they have all you can eat fried catfish, which my boyfriend ordered. I ordered the 2 piece fried chicken and catfish combo. The catfish was delicious and the chicken was perfect and tender, even after I took it home. I usually stay away from breast meat because it's so dry and hard for me to eat, but not this time! I was pleasantly surprised. Topped off our meal with peach cobbler and ice cream. Ohhhh that peach cobbler. My mouth is drooling just thinking about it. We were so happy with our visit, we came back and had our last meal here before flying home. Started our trip here. Ended our trip here. Thank you Uncle Bud's for being a highlight on our trip!

This restaurant is authentic southern cuisine at its finest. The service was friendly and on point. The waitress immediately brought to the table hush puppies, coleslaw, baked beans and pickles. I would have been so happy with just that as my meal. The best baked beans and coleslaw I ever had. My first time trying catfish and I was pleasantly surprised. The catfish and shrimp were lightly breaded and fried to perfection. The meal came with fried potato wedges that were delicious. Oh did I mention the sweet tea, Served in a huge mason jar.

The best catfish I have had in a long time!!! All you want of the fixings, and they were so good. The atmosphere was good, and the service was excellent!! All the staff were pleasant. We had a great time; just wish they were still in the Rivergate area.

Southern food formula, and it is right on! This place has a limited menu, and they do that menu better than anyone else. Southern style catfish, shrimp and chicken. If this is your thing, then you will for sure like this place. All dishes are served with the standard southern style sides, all you can eat, and family style. Beans, Cole slaw, pickles and onions, and hush puppies. Friendly, appropriate, and great food! But this place is ALWAYS busy.

All you can eat catfish days need to come back . Otherwise everything great and tastes good too. The waitress in the miniskirt also helps increase your appetite .

Found the catfish and shrimp combo to be very tasty. Of the shared sides, cole slaw was the very good, while the others were nothing special. Overall a very nice experience.

On my way home I stopped at Uncle Bud's for the catfish I've been craving. It was pretty good but I was surprised at how small the pieces were. The sides were all good. No complaints here at all. I ordered the peach cobbler for dessert and it was probably one of the WORST things I've ever tried to eat. Two bites and I pushed it away. I expected peaches with a crust (isn't that what cobbler is??). It was like ground up mush with so much sugar in it that I could crunch the granules in my teeth. All the extra sugar didn't help it any. . Tasted like it maybe had cinnamon in it too but I could be mistaken. It didn't taste like peaches at all. It was beyond awful!! They wouldn't take the $7.95 off the bill either. Yes, 8 bucks for 'cobbler' and a small cup of ice cream.

My husband and I stopped by Uncle Bud's during a trip to Nashville for lunch. It was a Saturday in July and we were seated within 10 minutes and everyone there was very friendly while checking in. Our meals were absolutely delicious! I had the Fish Hooks meal that consisted of 1/2 lb of catfish bite size pieces. My husband had the Bayou platter of frog legs, clam strips, catfish filets, and gator bites. After we first sat down, and our drink order was taken, they brought out all the fixins of all-you-can-eat white beans, coleslaw, sweet onions, dill pickle spears and hushpuppies. Oh my my, we almost got too full on the fixins before our meats came out. The coleslaw was mayonnaise based and my husband and I agreed it was the absolute best we've ever had. The hush puppies and white beans were cooked perfectly. Our server was very attentive to checking on our table but not overbearing. Our glasses of sweet and unsweetened tea stayed full and so did our fixins. We were sad to hear that this was the last Uncle Buds left but we are so glad this one is thriving. We will definitely go back to Uncle Bud's the next time we are in Nashville and looking for a great southern meal.

First and foremost the service was great - big smiles, friendly and helpful. My wife who literally loved this place gave it a thumbs down (their receipt process would also not accept the feedback after leaving there less than 45 minutes ago). The hush puppies were great, white beans and Cole slaw was pretty good - but the two plates of fish was mostly breading. While tasty, understand this place was so much better in the past. Was told previously it had the best catfish in the world.

I first discovered this place by ordering some catfish for my wife through Grubhub. I tried her plate and enjoyed the catfish, which I'm not usually a fan of. The next day, I ordered from here again but I got a shrimp plate. It was very good. Today, I decided to dine in for some all-you-can-eat fried chicken Sunday and I loved it! I found out that you can swap between fried chicken or chicken strips for the same price. I tried one chicken strip at the end and next time, that will be part of my plate as well. The fixings are all you can eat regardless of what you order. They have hush puppies, which are so big might as well call them hush dogs, white beans; cole slaw; and fries. Additionally, my unlimited chicken order included one biscuit, which was buttery and fluffy. I ordered two more at .75 cents each. Our server, McKenzie was very welcoming, explained things upon request, and offered our drinks to go after our meal. Overall, I really enjoyed dining in and will be returning quite regularly.

First time to Uncle Bud's and really enjoyed the food, but the customer service experience was second to none! We couldn't finish one item and they were already bringing out the next. Other customers had no problem sharing some of their favorites as well. Highly recommend this to all and looking forward to returning.

Man oh man! This place is delicious! We are here passing through for a couple days and craved soul food. Uncle Buds did not disappoint! We ordered on door dash and thought we received the wrong order because of the amount of boxes and the size of the bag! We ordered gumbo, hush puppies, okra, cobbler and banana pudding and devoured EVERYTHING! The portions are huge, so I definitely would consider splitting with someone! Legit cannot rave more about this spot. Highly recommend!

Really good food and a different selection. Excellent sides brought to the table and free ice cream on the way out. Complied with great service and it's a Nashville win.

We came at around 6 and there was already an hour wait, but we decided to stick it out. Our waiter was super nice, and brought out all the fixings when we sat down. We ordered catfish and jambalaya. The catfish is to die for!!! Wish we ordered more of it. The jambalaya was okay, but a little greasy with not a lot of meat. The only thing we wish was different is that they gave us french fries at the same time as the other fixings. It came on the plate with the entree, but with probably only 10 fries.

First time here when we had to stay overnight due to crazy weather delays for our flight. The staff are friendly and attentive, the restaurant is quaint and simple. You receive family style sides immediately once you at seated consisting of slaw, pintos, pickle spears and onions as well as delicious hush puppies. I could not get enough of the beans and hush puppies! That food continues to come until you say stop. The main dishes were delicious, I had the fried oysters and my husband the fried shrimp. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Best place in Nashville for catfish! Usually takes a considerable amount of time to get a table, and they don't take reservations.
