I needed my deli fix when I was visiting LA. Found this place and satiated my craving with a pastrami on rye, and a bacon cheese melt chaser. Couldn’t help myself. This place doubles up as a sports bar with lots of beers on offer. Nice and cosy. Food was great… these guys know what they are doing with bread and meats yum!! Drop by and check them out

DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE!! If you like deli style sandwiches and LOVE CRAFT BEER!! This place right here will put any big chain multitap beer/sandwiches place to shame. Uncle Henrys has been here since 1959 but has had a major boost due to a crazy nephew putting in 99 CRAFT BEER TAPS.!! GREAT FOOD, OUTSTANDING BEER SELECTIONS and Amazing service and atmosphere! DO NOT MISS THIS GEM!!

The vibes are amazing, the beer selection. If you're into stouts, you are going to be a happy camper. The sandwiches were good, I ordered the Reuben, which was good, and my partner got the beef dip with au jus.

A hole in the wall that can quickly get over looked, so its a lot of different moving parts, but not what I would call excellent at anything, but does a lot of things decent that people might find appealing, so as far as food goes - it's decent, not the best, hot dogs, dirt dog is better, Reuben sandwich, langer is better. It has TV with sports going on, it has several different type of beers, but my understanding, u can't drink it there. So it's a strange to sell alcohol but only to go. So it's an ok place with - with ok food, with an above decent prices.. so ultimately, it's fair, not great

Stopped by for lunch today with some family and friends. We all tried a few flights. I got option one which was perfectly paired with my Uncle Henry’s Mix. All the staff were great and I felt so welcomed that it seemed as if I were a favorite regular stopping by. There are not only many sandwiches to try but also an impressively large selection of beer on tap. I’ve passed by this hidden gem so many times and never bothered to stop by but I’m so happy we decided to give this place a shot. It’s a small spot so it may fill up quickly but I actually think the small spot gives it a personal touch that you can’t get anywhere else.

I got the Beef Dip with pastrami and it was Murder. Murder on the taste buds son! So solid. If you're a craft beer drinker there is no other place as dedicated to bringing you what you need. Kudos Uncle Henry...which by the way I actually have an Uncle Henry.

Best beer spot in Downey! Nothing beats some fresh deli meats and a wall full of delicious beer options. Come in on a 'steal the pint night' and you get to keep the glass! Staff is great and can always help you find the beer you are craving, be it a fruity sour or a hoppy IPA. Can't go wrong with Henrys!

Missing uncles lately and just realized I never dropped a review after years of being a customer. Honestly this place is such a gem and not are the sandwiches the best, but the overall service, team and community uncle Henry's has created over the years. Really looking forward to the reopening in 2026

Small little sandwich shop in Downey. You order through a kiosk so there's not really a ton of Customer Service. Although they seem nice enough. It's in a strip mall with decent enough parking. The food itself is pretty fantastic. If you were in the mood for deli sandwiches, they have a plethora of options which I would highly recommend. Both their cold cuts and hot sandwiches are delicious. Although personally I would've added a few other condiment options like mustard. But overall a fantastic sandwich

This is our first time trying this place and the sandwiches are absolutely delicious. Italian Stallion: Stuffed with the meats and was delicious, except for the fact that they had a very tiny amount of onions and excessive amounts of oregano. Maybe if they increased the onion servings, added some mustard in here and decreased the oregano or even removed the oregano, this would be a five star sandwich. Philly cheesesteak sandwich: Absolutely delicious. Stuffed with cheese and bursting in flavors. I would definitely order this again.

Not many places like uncle Henrys anywhere. Been in business as long as I've been on this earth 66 years still has one of the family George running the show on this Saturday for my first time visit and he is an absolute wonderful host My brother lives in Downey. He's been there a few times boy oh boy the beer selection is unbelievable including paul aner one of the best hefes world on draft. You'll be hard-pressed to find more draft selections in any place in the entire state. Amazing pastrami sandwich, turkey, avocado, bacon sandwich my brother and I split them prosciutto mozzarella rolls forget about it!!! Thank you, George for your wonderful hospitality my brother and I will be back

While in the area my son & I wanted to try something different so off to yelp to search. This place came up & looked good. My son & I both agreed to give this spot a try. When you walk in it's like a small New York bodega meets a local bar. They have many tables where you can enjoy a beer & a sandwich. Many tv s to watch sports. It look us some time to look over the menu. I opted to get the oink & gobble & my son got the beef dip. Although it's a little pricy you pay for what you get. We also shared potato wedges. The sandwiches were AMAZING and we will definitely return. There was an employee clearing tables & he stopped to speak to us. He was very friendly. There are many beers on tap but I do not drink. Stop by & give this spot a try & support a local business.

A chill spot to relax, catch up with friends, drink a beer and watch some sports. Service is friendly, and most importantly their sandwiches are delicious. They also have a bar. I got a custom turkey sandwich with a side of potato wedges- absolutely delicious! I will definitely be coming back for more!

This place is equal parts deli and sports bar/craft beer bar. The space, located in a strip mall, itself is not very huge, but it seriously might have the largest craft beer selection to square foot ratio I've ever seen. Everyone here from the deli to the beer counter is friendly. And so are the patrons/regulars. Came here after work finally after having this place bookmarked for years. I came specifically for the Russian River flight that included Pliny for President. I also ordered the Big B - a large hot pastrami sandwich. The sandwich was very delicious and so was the beer. I wish this place was closer to me and would love to come back multiple times. Even struck up a conversation with other people here and they are very cool. My only warning is that this place is so great and it's small, this place could get packed very easily. Definitely a great spot for me to hit up when I'm driving through or even as a destination (since I live pretty far). Because it is in a strip mall, there was plenty of parking.

So sad that this place suffered a fire. I can't hardly wait for them to reopen, the sandwiches are amazing and all the delicious deli meats you could order to take home are outstanding. Let's not forget the great beer selection. If you have never tried this place you most definitely should once they open in January 2026.

Hidden gem! Girlfriend found this place on our way down to San Diego and it's amazing. Don't expect it from the outside, but the food is incredible. I got the hot pastrami and it honestly might be the best I've ever had. Service was also great. 10/10

Had a Pliny while waiting for the 5 Sandwiches I ordered to be made , and talked to George the Manager. The restaurant is small but inviting, I wanted to hang out longer. But had to get the sandwiches home. Everyone loved the food. I also bought a couple of bottles of Pliny the Elder For later

I stopped in here last week for the first time and I had a tuna melt in mind. I was thinking of toasty bread and tuna that would taste like Poseidon himself caught. Well I got the opposite of that lol. My sourdough bread wasn't toasted. It was actually pretty soggy and the lettuce was limp. For $15 I expected a solid sandwich and I was pretty disappointed. I'm guessing they have other options that might've been better but I don't think I'll be back.

My best friend of nearly 40yrs and I really enjoy a well made sandwich. In our pursuit of great sandos, we've tried Katz Deli in NYC, Brent's in Northridge and even the sorely missed but never forgotten Miller's East Coast Deli in San Francisco. So when, tasked with finding a suitable place for our quarterly lunch meeting, I entered "Jewish deli" and "Downey" into Yelp, half expecting to find the lackluster lineup of national chains that PURPORT to make good sandwiches- Subway, Joysie Mike's, Jimmy John's and the usual suspects of sandwich sorriness! Imagine then, fellow Yelpers, when Uncle Henry's Deli appeared...as welcome a sight as my gorgeous bikini-clad wifey. Both Mick and I, who first bonded over our shared love of the national pastime, immediately likened Henry's with the MLB legend who shares my birthday- Henry Louis Aaron, aka Hamnerin' Hank and the REAL all-time home run leader, Barry Bonds and his oversized gourd, er, head be damned. In his 22yr career, Aaron belied his average size (5ft 11 tall, 185 lbs) and deployed his missile-fast wrists to smack 755 homers. All while playing in Jim Crow era Atlanta. Uncle Henry's Deli, similarly, defies expectations. Who would think of putting a Jewish-style delicatessen in Downey, famous for birthing the honey-voiced Carpenters and the self-styled "Mexican Beverly Hills?!" Mick ordered a super sized Original, which is turkey, roast beef + ham plus cheddar on white. He went with potato wedges which are sizable. Me? I chose one hot, one cold. A super sized Big B (Pastrami, Bacon + Swiss on toasted sourdough, hold the pickles) and an Egg Salad on enviably well made squaw bread, hold the tomatoes. Pro Tip- From a lifetime of ordering well made sandos in every major city in America, never put tomatoes on a cold sandwich unless you want the notoriously water-dense fruit to dampen your sandwich! The only mild drawback of my food order was the side of potato salad, which in my opinion would benefit from some black pepper and minced celery. The service at Henry's is expedient- You've barely helped yourself to one of their dark wood benches when they've called your order! The restroom was, yes, as cozy as the overall venue...but sufficiently clean + stocked. Watch out, tho- The hot water runs hotter than the devil's temperature! In closing, you can take Uncle Henry's to the bank. Yes, you'll part with upwards of a Jackson, mebbe even two. But you'll enjoy the treat, cuz the caliber of food is very bit as real as the hammer (aka Louisville Slugger) that Hamnering Hank used to bash all of his home runs with.

It was my first visit today and I went in with high expectations because I'd heard nothing but amazing things about this place. I ordered a roast beef sandwich. When I got my order I asked if it was pastrami because it looked like pastrami, not roast beef. The young lady at the counter assured me it was roast beef After two very salty bites, I went back to the counter to ask again if it was roast beef because it was so salty. The young lady again said yes. The guy working next to her wearing a beanie asked her what I wanted. When she told him, he too said it was roast beef. I then commented on how salty it was, he said it was probably the au jus. I told him I thought the same, but even without the au jus it was salty. He replied and said "roast beef is salty" I said "I've never had salty roast beef" to which he replied "there's a first time for everything". Needless to say, I will not be returning. I would've tried it again, because sometimes your experience is based on what you order. But the lack of customer service is the reason I won't be back. Let me clear, I wasn't asking for a refund I was just asking if my sandwich was what I ordered. Very disappointed. If you expect to get what you order and also expect to be treated with a little respect, don't go to Uncle Henry's Deli.

Walked in unexpectedly with my wife during our lunch hour and it exceeded every expectation I had. The beer selection is amazing and sandwiches are perfect. It's on the smaller side and wish it wasn't because they have so many TVs with sports games on. I will be back!!!!

Second time here and it's better than last time... or maybe it's just that good... oof. Great beer selection, sandwich selection, fries and hot dogs. Service is great and the place is dope AF. U can choose your own song on the jukebox if you'd like.

Want to come and watch the game? So this is the perfect local sandwich and beer spot. First time here what they recommend was incredible tasty, and watching the games at the same time was perfect Monday afternoon.

This place is definitely worth checking out. It's going a lively atmosphere even during the week. Think of it as a sports bar but as a deli. I ended up getting their beef dip which was really good along with their potato wedges. It can get pretty pack so expect it to be busy at anytime. Other than that it is a place I'd recommend.

Love the Rachel sandwich and the tuna sandwich‼Rachel was a little soggy ( I ordered it through Uber Eats) . Not a fan of the sides so much, though the beans are good. I was SO sad to hear they had a fire , but they are scheduled to reopen on January 1st(2026). I can't wait ‼

Super sad that is has been burned down recently but definitely can count on all of us, we will be back to support them after they rebuilt. Best sandwich locally hands down. Until then I will just dream about the best Italian subs. Until we meet again.

Definitely a hole in the wall. It feels like your neighborhood deli with a few beer selections. At least 30 beers on tap and not to mention all the untapped options. Truly a beer connoisseur's dream. This is a really laid back place to enjoy a beer and a good sandwich. I sampled a beer flight and a couple of other beers. I do not remember exactly what I drank but they were good. Beers that are not readily available at your corner store. I had the BTA sandwich which is the Bacon, Turkey, Avocado. It was on point. The potato wedges were not greasy. They had a house made dipping sauce. Everything about this place is good and inviting. The only reason why I gave it four stars is because there was one guy who was very inebriated and kept bumping me. However, I did see management getting ready to ask him to leave but, he did so on his own. Give this place a try.

Let's start with the star of the show..... food! Sandwiches are fresh made to order with the highest quality of meats and condiments. Mouth watering! Everything we've seen come out the window makes you say that you'll try that one next time.. no, that one.... Great choices of cold brews and incased chilled drinks to chose from if you're not a beer drinker. Service was super helpful and environment laid back and comfortable with tvs everywhere. Only downfall.... constant flow of customers. Wonder why?!

Not a big fan of sandwich - meat, cheese great but roll was too soft for my taste - I have been spoiled by Excellent East Coast rolls - birthplace of hoagies But But beer selection and service was unbelievable- if it was not such a great beer bar - I would use term curated experience .. so Cool

Im all over the place with this review. I liked it but then I didn't. The sandwich was good but not wow. It was partially my fault I think. It's a self order machine or you can order at the bar and when I ordered I guess I didn't see the option to have your bread toasted. So my bread was soft on a sandwich that had a lot of things in it. But I will say I'm not one of those "toast my bread and make my cold sandwich hot" type of gals but a little toastage would of went a long way. So that was on me I guess. I should never assume sandwiches come toasted right ? Other than that everything was cool. Chill place, was a little dim and had a bunch of tvs with different channels so that was good. But yeah overall, maybe I'll come back maybe I won't I don't even know

Placed an order through postmates. One out of three sandwiches were wrong. I spoke with Diego the manager and he rudely responded, "Oh the driver picked up the wrong order. You can take it up with Postmates because it is a third party mistake." I was shocked at how unprofessional he was. First off, only one of the orders was wrong. Clearly it was a kitchen issue not a postmates issue. The deli made the mistake, however Diego did not want to take accountability for their mistake. I love the food but my family and I will not be doing business with Uncle Henry's Deli due to how rude and unprofessional Diego was.

EASY LUNCH ON NYE. 5/5 Yeah this place is phenomenal. I live nearby and it's nice to have a great lunch spot that's not Nexx or Domino's. Came from St. Louis to visit family for the holidays, I got the Beef Dip sandwich with peperoncino and onion to try to satisfy the Italian beef craving. Man they really knocked it out of the park. Toasted, buttered french roll with melted swiss, roast beef, and a flavorful jus to boot; they don't skimp on the jus either. And they add a few peperoncinos on the side too, a nice touch. Their smallest size was perfect for lunch; any bigger and you rack up the calorie count. To the owners: please add italian beef sandwich to the menu, or add giardiniera as an extra option!! I didn't try their beer but everyone seems to love it and the afternoon lunch hour on NYE was decently packed. My only suggestion for takeout is to rubber-band shut the lid OR plastic wrap the just container cause it did leak a bit. Foil wrapped container only works so well without that extra layer of protection.

Great little Spot if you're ever in the area, limited seating, however good food, and huge draft selection.

Brew, subs, and sports. What more can a man ask for? Amazing food and friendly staff, great place to meet up friends to catch a game. I do wish it was bigger inside but the small cozy environment is nice as well.

Uncle Henry's is a beer lover's paradise with a Reuben that'll make you slap your mama. The corned beef is stacked high, the sauerkraut is tangy, and the Swiss cheese is gooey. It's a flavor bomb! Usually love vibes but let's talk about the real MVPs: the little ankle-biters running wild. I get it, kids gotta be kids. But when they're screaming and climbing on tables at 9 PM, it's time to call in the kiddie cavalry. Parents, leash your little monsters or leave them caged upif they aren't trained!!! Overall, a great spot for a beer and a bite, just watch out for the flying elbows and spilled drinks. This establishment is not kid friendly it's close seated benches paired with beer glasses... Use common sense all of you deficit parents!!!

Beer lovers of the world unite! If you love beer in all its variety you need to come here. They have 102 beers on tap which is more than the seats available. You can order any of them as part of a flight which is a good idea given how daunting the selection is. You're going to need a base to survive this visit. Don't worry! Henry's' has awesome sandwiches that can be ordered in huge sizes if you desire. The place started as a butcher shop, then they added sandwiches and finally the great selection of beers. The butcher shop is long gone but it's still in its original small footprint. It can get crowded at lunch and during events because of this. Consider bribing a DD with an awesome sandwich.

I had never heard of this place before and I don't live very far away and this place has been around for decades. I finally tried it out last week and it made a good first impression. Location- shopping center anchored by Amapola market...we were able to find parking pretty easily on a Friday afternoon; inside the deli things are incredibly squished and a bit claustraphobic feeling; once it started getting a bit more crowded it got pretty hard to hear conversations Food- we ordered at a kiosk which was fairly straight forward to use and got a Sicilian (3.5 stars) and a pastrami sandwich (4 stars), and fries (3 stars); the prices seem a bit high at first but when you see the serving size it makes more sense Drink- we tried some beers from their enormous beer selection (around 100 choices that seemes to lean toward IPAs) and prices were fair

Absolute goldmine. F ton of taps. Great sandwiches. It's small but this place is a hidden gem for sure. If you're in the LA/ Downey area, this is a must checkout spot for any foodie beer lover.

I have been coming here since I was 22. I'll tell you the 3 things that never disappoint, the food, customer service, and the fact that no one can replica this food establishment. Beers beers and beers food is delicious! 13 bucks a beer but they taste bomb ! A few good new tables arrived at 215 after work plenty of seats to pick from.

my boyfriend and I travel to uncle Henry's deli upon the day after Christmas and was shocked at how welcoming the crowd was in this little nook. We ordered beers and some fresh deli meat to go so that we can explore preparing our own pizza for the first time. We loved the space and was blown away at how we found such a great ambience in such a short amount of time.

Very pricey but the quality is good so I guess it's to be expected. Ate here a few times. I like to get their pastrami sandwich and tuna sandwich. I also like their sides over there. I normally get egg salad or macaroni salad as my side to eat with my sandwich. Great service and good parking area.

So glad i finally tried this place. This was the establishment of choice for a rendezvous with some coworkers. Wide selection of craft beer to try, which is half the fun for me. And while i'm not particularly fond of pastrami sandwiches, the sandwich here was pretty good. A fine choice to grab some grub and drinks!

I loved the name! Its been around since 1959. I found it to be more of a beer and sandwich spot. The somewhat small shop was very busy. The sub i ordered was good, not great. Im in search of a great sub. Still looking.

16 dollars for a sandwich is crazy but I wanted a good deli sandwich. The flavor was okay I was just kinda pissed that I paid extra money for add on and they didn't even put it on there.

This place use to be my family's go to place for sandwiches.. and they have really gone down the drain.. sad. Quality is not what it use to be. Order two sandwiches.. one sandwich was pitiful.. the bread was stale and small and we ordered the "super size" which we share and can normally not finish. It was not the normal. The other sandwich was subpar as well. Sad especially for the prices they charge. We won't be back. Don't waste your money.

Stopped by on a Thursday afternoon. The place is pretty small, but plenty of space to just eat a sandwich, have a beer and go about your business. Plenty of televisions with sports on, which is an absolute plus! I ordered "The Original" sandwich. HAM, TURKEY, ROAST BEEF, MUSTARD, MAYO, PICKLES, CHEDDAR & MOZZARELLA, POTATO SALAD ON WHITE BREAD! Jeez! This bad boy did not disappoint! You can choose 5 bread options, but I went with the recommendation of white. What sets this sandwich apart is the layer of potato salad inside the sandwich! If you're the snobby beer type, then you'd LOVE this place. Tons of beers on tap, most of which I've never heard of, so I went with a Carlsberg! Maybe one day they'll put Bud Light on the Draft Board. A guy can dream! Definitely go check this place out!

Walked in wasn't welcomed like the other customers that walked in after me . First time there was given an introduction to the deli I ordered on the kiosk . I order a tuna melt took a few bites and left . Sandwich was bland. Never returning

Great service and sandwiches, great variety of beers. If you get there after 2:00 PM, i highly recommend the fries, over a pound of goodness. Three of us had the Turkey. Avocado, bacon on sourdough. Our fourth had a French dip, chili cheese fries. This was first time for two of my friends. They will definitely be back.
