Today for lunch, I decided to check out Uncle Joe's chicken fingers in the Wayne state area. I ordered the chicken and shrimp combo and a chicken sandwich. As I entered the restaurant, I was immediately greeted by the cashier, which was a big plus 4 me. My meal included three chicken fingers, five butterfly shrimp, French fries, coleslaw, and a drink. The chicken fingers were fried well with light breading. The butterfly shrimp were OK, but the same thing you can buy from your grocer's frozen section. The Texas toast was good bread but wasn't grilled long enough for me, which left it kind of chewy. The coleslaw had a nice tang to it, which was good, but it had too much of a mayo taste and lacked flavor. French fries were battered but lacked flavor, and maybe they should have been hit with the dusting of salt after the fryer. For sauces, I chose Uncle Joe's Signature sauce ranch and cocktail sauce. Uncle Joe's sauce was good but very peppery, so if you are not a fan of black pepper like I am, then it could be a bit overbearing. The ranch had a nice tangy zest, not too bad, and the cocktail sauce was good. The chicken sandwich had a nice brioche bun, but I was a little disappointed to find that it wasn't a breast filet but was chicken the sandwich. But the sandwich was good, and it also had Uncle Joe's signature sauce on it. Next time I will order it without the sauce, but I will prefer to have maybe Mayo in a couple of pickles to top it off. Definitely, a good spot for a nice quick meal, and even for a fried option, it wasn't all that heavy and greasy.
