Great experience! Definitely Worth trying out. I'm thinking about driving to Memphis. I want to try the pork chop dipped in the spicy sauce My mother was disappointed she thought the bacon sandwich was lacking Bacon 😔

Google
I ordered 1 four-piece whole wing (hot) with mac & cheese, 1 four-piece (mild) with mac & cheese, and an extra side of okra. The wings had good flavor, but overall, my experience was not impressive. The food came out lukewarm. The mac & cheese was a little smashed into the container like it had been sitting for a while. The flavor leaned sweet—almost like a honey mac & cheese. It wasn’t terrible, just not really my thing. The okra, however, was the biggest letdown. It was unseasoned, not hot, not crispy—more like chewing gum. Definitely disappointing, especially for the price, since the small portion was only about a handful. Another issue: the setup. There’s no register, only two self-kiosks, and for a first-time visitor, that was confusing. No one was around to give extra direction or explain the menu. We ordered inside, and when our food was bagged, no napkins or utensils were included. That was frustrating since we planned to eat downtown while watching the sunset. How was I supposed to enjoy mac & cheese or clean up after without basics like that? On the positive side, the wings themselves had good taste, and the food was affordable overall (though the okra didn’t feel worth the cost). All in all, Uncle Lou’s was just okay. The wings were solid, but the sides, service setup, and attention to details like utensils and napkins need improvement. I left not feeling impressed.

Stopped by here based on Guy's visit and review while visiting Memphis. The location is great and nice on the inside. The customer service by the team was also commendable. The food is cooked to order so it's hot. We tried the chicken with the sauce on the side. The chicken was hot and good. I'd prefer a little more batter and egg wash (coming from Louisiana) but their method is fine too. The sauce is definitely unique. A good balance between sweet and heat.

Google
TV FEATURED FOR A REASON This chicken—my lord. I ordered the hot chicken sandwich on Texas toast and it was excellent. The breading was just right, crispy but not dry, with perfectly toasted bread. The flavor was out of this world—some of the best I’ve ever had, though it wasn’t as spicy as I thought it would be. The honey butter biscuits were also delicious and we only ordered 2 but received 4! A nice surprise. The atmosphere of this place is as it should be: down home, Memphis-style. And the prices are more than reasonable for the quality. You can order from one of two touch screens, but the staff was also very friendly and willing to help out if needed. There’s plenty of seating inside and there’s ketchup and paper towels at every table. They also sell merch and their sauce bottled to go. The flavor was so good, I had to get a sauce for the house! Overall, great food! And despite its TV-fame, it was an authentic, Memphis hot chicken experience.

Google
First time visiting! If you get it fresh it's great. Wings are really, really small. You have to place your order on a kiosk. The biscuits are the star of the show. Customer service wasn't really the best, maybe they are used to everyone knowing about/coming to the location.

Google
Service was decent. Everyone seemed pleasant to interact with although it's limited by the fact you have to place your own order on a kiosk. The toppings on the burger seemed fresh, but the meat was obviously a pre shaped pre frozen patty. I wanted to try it because the online photos made it look like a delicious handmade fresh patty. The fries weren't the worst I've had, but could use some TLC The chicken was cooked perfectly and had a great coating and texture. Overall it was decent, but there is a very powerful spice they use for seasoning I don't care for one but. Obviously, that's a personal preference. You may like it. Reminds me of nutmeg or some spice used in some Indian cuisine. Can't quite place it. Anyway, it might be worth a try. I'm not hating it, but not so good that it would make me forgo trying a new place next time.

Google
Damn good chicken (sides and honey butter biscuits too), clean atmosphere, friendly customer service, fast, great enclosed patio with music, dine in, to go, and drive-thru available and convenient. Perfect for families and any local and out of town people. South Beach Wine and Food Festival with Guy Fiery!

Google
If there’s one thing that the south is known for besides bbq, it fried chicken. Besides the chain stores and gas stations there are few chicken restaurants. This might be the top one, neck and neck with Gus’s. Well worth the drive. Uncle Lou was out in the dining area telling stories and checking on customers. I’d come back in a heartbeat.

Yelp
Came in with a couple of friends and right when we pulled into the parking lot the chicken smelled perfect. We got the hot 4-piece snack and a variety of sides. The snack was really well priced and included 4 chicken pieces, a biscuit, side, and refillable drink all for $12.50 tax included. Even though I'm vegetarian, my group said it was some of the most amazing chicken they've had with a nuanced complexity. The subtle vinegar and sweet flavors in the hot sauce still do not diminish its crispiness. I also enjoyed the sides I had too, though the chicken is what really makes this place special. This place is a memphis original and the ambiance was really good. The music was good and the space felt open. Our food came out in around five minutes as well. Would highly recommend!!

Yelp
I'm loving the new location on Winchester Road! It's much more spacious than before, and the drive-through makes everything so much more convenient. I ordered my go-to: a three-piece all white (one breast, two wings, with mild sauce) with fried okra on the side. Everything was hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The mild sweet and spicy sauce is my favorite -- just the right balance of tangy and heat. Great food, friendly service, and a clean, comfortable space. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
The ambiance and first impression is not very good. When you first arrive the parking situation is very tight with extremely limited parking. I don't mean any harm but this is a place I would not go to after the sun goes down. When you walk through the door you have to order at a Self-Order station which is truly frustrating. As a first and last time customer I refuse to utilize any self service kiosks. Come on restaurant owners Covid is not here anymore ‍. The food was fresh, hot, tasty and delicious. The chicken was delicious; however the mac & cheese was just okay. The young lady at the cash register was extremely helpful and friendly also.

Charles J W.

Yelp
The location may be new, but the food is the same. Uncle Lou's chicken with the hot sauce may be my favorite fried chicken. Guy Fieri called it right.
google avatar

Fran S.

Yelp
Uncle Lou's Fried Chicken comes highly recommended by Guy Fieri, and we can see why! For only offering basically one sauce (Sweet Spicy Love), they've brought a refreshing taste to a batch of fried chicken, be it wings or tenderloins. We ordered our wings and tenders with the mild sauce, but added a side of hot sauce for comparison, and both were so good, with just enough kick without too much burn. Their honey butter biscuits are moist with a nice crusty top, and their mac and cheese as also a hit. This cozy little place was constantly churning with customers in the middle of the day. The staff is cool and accommodating with our requests. They also offer burgers and sandwiches, which we didn't get to try this time. Definitely a must try if you've never been here!

Yelp
Freshly fried hot hot chicken regular chicken and hot hot spicy chicken Friendly and swift Customer Service Busy day today What you can't see is the yummy smell of seasoning on the fresh hot chicken wings yum yum That gourmet cookie looks delicious!!

Ukandu T.

Yelp
The fried chicken is to die for, the green beans is excellent so are the biscuits. On a scale of 1-10 I give it a 12. Great service, fantastic atmosphere.
google avatar

Cherry D.

Yelp
The food was delicious! I ordered from the self serve kiosk, my meal was ready within ten minutes!! The mild tenders were so juicy with just the right amount of kick! And don't get me started on mom's chocolate cake.... Just like grandma made for Sunday dinner!! You MUST check them out!
google avatar

Jay J.

Yelp
We attempted to order food from this location yesterday but they were temporarily closed. It would be nice for the business to update their page until they complete the move to the new location. We did not get a chance to order any food. We will return when they move. This is a great place for southern chicken.
google avatar

Yelp
Great food always hot new building more nice clean space even can have a sit outside and enjoy your meal I luv it cause it's black own serving the neighborhood and doing it well

Mary P.

Yelp
Unfortunately, my experience wasn't great. The chicken was dry and overcooked, and the biscuit didn't have any noticeable honey flavor. Overall, I'd give it a 2 out of 10--mainly because I want to support a Black-owned business, and I believe the owner may not be aware of what's happening in the kitchen. The potato salad was the only thing I truly enjoyed. The rest, honestly, could have gone straight to the nearest trash can. I hope this feedback helps the team make improvements, because the potential is there.

Yelp
That chicken has a special savory flavor, an Original u won't find elsewhere! And I love the green beans with potatoes too. The sauce over the chicken is SO good, I'm licking my fingers, sopping it up with the biscuit and drinking the rest! GO ON DOWN THERE to Uncle Lou's, ..and You'll be glad you did!

Scott M.

Yelp
Clean space very friendly people. Food is delicious! Paid 8 bucks for 3 piece fries and a drink. WOW!
google avatar

Suzanne N.

Yelp
Tenders were juicy and well seasoned. Biscuits were balanced. Okra and baked beans were good as well. We also had the fried chicken and wings. All were excellent.

Yelp
With all of my travels to Memphis I was happy to finally check out this much talked about spot. After all, it was featured on the popular Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Guy Fieri swore by the chicken so it must be good, right?Well I too concur!! The food is really good. Location....well, let's just say I'm going back, but in the daytime. Service, let's just say have some patience. So I ordered the hot 6-pc whole wings, okra, potato salad, honey biscuit, and sweet tea. All, and I do mean all of the food was fresh and delicious. The sweet spicy love hot sauce on the chicken was spicy, but not inedible. It has a balanced heat and vinegar flavor that compliments the wings. They also sell it bottled in a 16oz, 32oz, and gallon sizes. I purchased three 32oz along with the corruption seasoning to bring back to ATL and am glad I did. It makes all the difference on your chicken.

Yelp
Was passing through TN to NC and heard about this on a food network show. Was a little hard to locate since it blended with the other stores around. Walked in and was greeted by Kim a lovely lady that explained how to order on the kiosk. As it was my first time there and out of state she assisted with the whole process and was kind. She also recommended me a few options. I order the 4pc mixed fried chicken meal with hot spice level. The food was prepared fast and was delicious. The hot sauce added didn't take away from the crispness and juiciness of the chicken. The honey biscuit and Mac & cheese were also a great addition to the meal. Only wish it was just a little spicier and there was a bit more Mac & cheese. Overall though highly recommended and very fortunate to have Kim assisting in the front as it made me feel welcomed and eased my worry in ordering.

Joan W.

Yelp
Very very clean. Easy to order! Food was delish!!! The fry pie was so fresh baked to order! Cole slaw some odd the best. Chicken was not greasy
google avatar

Bon V.

Yelp
Very solid Southern fried and grilled chicken. Known for their spicy sweet sauce, kind of like a vinegary sweet chile sauce. Paired especially well with the fried tenderloins, which were beautifully moist and impossibly crispy. Grilled was very well prepared and moist as well. Great zippy creamy coleslaw and pretty good crispy fries. Would go back for sure
google avatar

Inas J.

Yelp
Great!! And tastes great too! Love the flavor and spice on the hot dipped chicken! Delicious!!
google avatar

Lorita S.

Yelp
I've been here countless times over the years. A big mistake this time. I walked out with the food and drink on the table. One of my worst experiences at Uncle Lou's and last.
google avatar

Kevin W.

Yelp
This is definitely a down to earth dive venue. The venue may look sketchy on the outside but it has a warm feel on the inside. Prices are very affordable. We got 14oz cheeseburgers, fries, mac and cheese, biscuits, fried chicken dark meat, and the Spicy Sweet Lou Hot sauce. The 14oz cheeseburger was the best thing about this place. You can taste that it was cooked to order. I will get this again. The fries were decent. The biscuits are great, order more. The fried chicken is better than average. The sauce on the side was a disappointment.
google avatar

Justice R.

Yelp
I gave them four stars because the chicken was delicious But the Mac n cheese was booty. Tasted kinda old an reheated. Not much flavor but pepper in it. But they get four stars because the strawberry short cake looked overwhelmed with strawberries but was oddly enough not mushy. So it surpassed the Mac n cheese disappointment. All in all I enjoyed the chicken tenders and the sweet taste of cinnamon from the flour of the chicken Well done

Charles E.

Yelp
tonight was my worst experience of uncle Lou's. I was a second time customer and the customer service was terrible. I was threatened by the kitchen staff after requesting my refund back after an additional 10 minutes for waiting on my food. I wouldn't recommend if the owner isn't present.
google avatar

Walter P.

Yelp
Flew into Memphis on our way to Oxford and needed to grab a quick bite and wanted something authentic. Uncle Lou's did not disappoint. Some of the best fried chicken that I've come across. The sweet heat sauce is a treat. The honey biscuit is tasty. Don't hesitate to give Uncle Lou's a try!
google avatar

Paul M.

Yelp
Owner is very friendly. Food is good and hot. We shared a turkey grilled cheese sandwich and a chicken piece. We got the mild sauce on the chicken. Both were very good.
google avatar

Tiffany J.

Yelp
Seriously what took me so long to try Uncle Lou's?! By now one of y'all should have told me about the deliciousness going on in the Whitehaven area. A colleague of mine ordered in and let me just say this completely changed my chicken eating experience. They actually dip any part of the chicken in your sauce of choice verses just the wing. It was so good and fried to protection (look at the photo). It's actually one of those moments that the food actually taste good as it looks! We also had the honey butter biscuits...OMG! The are soft and fluffy all the way through and has just the right of honey and butter drizzled from them. I also had the corn fritters and fries - all delicious. If you are ever in the neighborhood, do yourself a favor and stop by! You may find me in there as well, lol!

Kevin W.

Yelp
Poor service. "We can't put sauce on your fries." You CAN'T, or WON'T? What's the big deal? I'll pay whatever the fee is for someone pouring sauce on my fries like you do chicken. I'll never understand why people say "can't" simply because they've never had anyone request it before.

Yelp
Born and raised in Memphis and I had never been here but only heard of it. It took my bf who lived here yrs ago and moved away to bring me on a recent visit and let me say WHAT A SURPRISE! A Liquor store, A Church and a Chicken spot are on every corner in Memphis and let me tell you, this is THE best chicken spot. THE best, I've ever had. Now, each time I come home to visit I am coming here right after the airport Service- every single person in here were extremely welcoming and friendly Cleanliness nxt to Godliness- yep!!! the dining area as well as restrooms were clean on my visit. Food- O M G! The spicy chicken was the perfect heat. Fried to perfection and sauced up!!! The honey butter biscuits were so yummy drizzled and soft! The fries were not as sexy as the meal. In fact its the only time I've ever left fries behind. They were not seasoned and were just plan crinkle fries I purchased two spicy sauces ! I'll definitely be back
google avatar

Yelp
First time in Memphis with the family and saw this place as a must. Ordered online didn't know they take call in as well. I've tried a variety of fried chicken and by far this is the best I've tasted. That spicy sauce they use is on point fresh fried chicken and man oh man. You have to come eat here if you ever catch yourself in Memphis. It is in a more urban area just an fyi DO NOT let that deter you people were friendly and the employees were great. I love to taste the local eateries and I tend to stay away from your typical tourist go to. So once again come support you won't regret.

Will S.

Yelp
Great food and service. Always enjoy visiting this place for ambiance and quality. You will not be disappointed

Jasmine G.

Yelp
Service is terrible. We drove 30 + mins to receive these very small whole wings for $37 dollar. Not only did last time we went to the place they forgot to give us the sauce the wings were bigger and better. Highly do not recommend eating here. Feathers still on the chicken and did not honor giving us the sauce we were not given the last time we went which is $6.
google avatar

Katie N.

Yelp
Food was good; we ordered for pickup. We got a tray of tenderloins that were very flavorful. Biscuits were amazing. Mac n cheese was ok. There was only one cashier. So even though my order was ready, I had to wait for people in front of me to decide.
google avatar

Matt C.

Yelp
Ole lady and I stopped here on our drive... It's the real deal. Everything was top-notch, 100% smash hit, gold & platinum across the board. Everyone there was real, real friendly too... Dat Southern Hospitality which is so nice. Excellent fried chicken and sides, and sauce. Just excellent. Would highly recco! and looking forward toward going back.

Yelp
Uncle Lou definitely wants another wife! Didn't know I had mild but it was the bomb! And they sell the sauce on the side of the cash register. The fried okra and potato salad.. they should have been slapped! Uncle Lou definitely wants another wife in addition to how many ever other ones he already has collected because the food was so damn good! I shouldn't have to do this because it's a little bitty hole in the wall family restaurant. But some of y'all always want to test people's gangsta.... so here goes! ***DON'T COME TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT ASKING FOR GLUTEN FREE or VEGAN OPTIONS!!!!!*** I get some of y'all are culturally Clueless (Dionne Warwick for Gladys Knight during the US Open tennis match) but this is Memphis! Home of 8Ball&MJG. Home to Al green. Home to Aretha franklin. Home to the assassination of Dr Martin Luther King Jr. A big spot for the Green Book. If you know nothing of which I have mentioned, please Google and do your research before you come here asking insanely retarded questions such as do you have any quinoa salads! Know the menu before you go in because it's a fast pace moving line. Do not stare! I understand a lot of y'all have not been surrounded by my people or our culture. And you're only familiar with what you see on TV and movies. But for the love of God and all things righteous please respect this place and what it has to offer! Do not come in there with your expectations of what you desire and demand. Here's the step by step for you culturally clueless people... 1. Read the menu BEFORE visiting this establishment. 2. Google what you don't understand a. Google what you "think" you understand! 3. Write down what you think you want to order on a sheet of paper. Or leave a message in your phone of what you think you want to order 4. Call in the order if necessary so you don't make a complete fool out of yourself in line. We will laugh at you! 5. Be patient. As the food is cooked to order... most of it! Now this part is for my people... 6. Don't go in there with all of that UNNECESSARY confrontational "I'm better than" type attitude batting those caterpillar butterfly wings eyelashes while snapping those witch claws fingernails. I really like this place and the people who worked in it. And I know these days customer service is hard to provide to ignorant ass people with all of these demands as though this is some Michelin star restaurant on the shores of Maui Hawaii. Again I repeat I really like this establishment and the people who work in it! Don't give them a hard time! I will be coming back for the beef tip plate next time. And I'm going to be greedy and ordering another four piece chicken tambian, but hot and the combo!

Isaac B.

Yelp
Best fried chicken I've ever tasted! It has a unique taste that cradles between sweet, salty, and spicy. Service was good and the ambiance was good.
google avatar

Mentael M.

Yelp
This chicken was delicious! So was the potato salad. Juicey flavorful and tender. The service was quick and friendly. To top off the good food the owner came through the dining room and greeted us. Most definitely a welcoming environment.
google avatar

Brasia A.

Yelp
I've heard so many great things about uncle Lou's but today they missed the mark with me. It was a nice crowd when I came in which was a good sign. But once I got to the register I received some of the poorest customer service I have received in a while. I even tried to smile and ignore it but the young lady at the register only got ruder. She was not helpful as I made my order and made me feel real incompetent. I noticed as more customers came that she treated a lot of the patrons just like that not only me. A lot of people were upset by her rudeness. Other than that the wait time was as expected for fried chicken. We tried the home style and the mild fried chicken, both were good. The fries were okay, and the Mac and cheese was a big no for me. The biscuits however were delicious and so was the punch! I wish I could give a better review but unfortunately I cannot. We also tried the Fatboy which is turkey, grilled cheese, in Texas toast drizzled in honey. That was good as well! Maybe in the future I can give it another try and update my review then.
google avatar

Ambe C.

Yelp
Uncle Lous had to me licking my fingers and begging for more . I ordered the mild wings with corn nuggets. OOHHMYGAWW! And the biscuit....it was light, soft and drizzled with honey. I should've ordered more. Listen, if you visit Memphis, take the drive outta downtown and try Uncle Lous.
google avatar

Jennette R.

Yelp
I mean how can you go wrong with a great Mom and Pop joint! Sweet and Spicy, yep they nailed it. Outstanding across the board. The chicken is so juicy. Highly recommend. Located in a strip mall, you can miss this when you are in town!
google avatar

Tanya W.

Yelp
It's been a while since I've eating uncle Lou's fried chicken, but when I have it was delicious and I loved the honey biscuits
google avatar

Breanna T.

Yelp
I finally got the chance to get to the famously known uncle lous. BABY THEY GET 5 stars off the biscuit alone lol. The chicken was really good too. Big and fresh and definitely made with love. I got fried pickles as a side they def could've kept that. They weren't covered in batter all the way and really salty. I know they are pickles but it shouldn't be thattttt salty Lolo but over all I will be back
google avatar

Jeff L.

Yelp
Best fried chicken and biscuits in Memphis. My favorite are the biscuits because you can just eat them with a fork. They are so good and flavorful. I usually get a few tenderloins and 3 biscuits that I eat with just honey on them. The cookies are amazing yet rich. First I had a cookie give me a sugar rush. If you are in the mood for good home cooking then stop by. People are wonderful and friendly. I always stop when driving through Memphis.

Kareem A.

Yelp
***5 STAR YARD BIRD!!!*** Let me start slightly negative and say the corrupted carrots weren't my thing but a lot of people wrote great reviews so I gave them a shot. Maybe it was just a bad day or something because this was my first time here, but I'm down to try anything twice. It's hard to mess up fried okra but I've seen it and they didn't. Wasn't over seasoned and was cooked freshly, which is always a win with anything fried. Ok, on to the real situation at hand...the CHICKEN! I wish I could say best in Memphis but this is the first place I've tried fried chicken in Memphis. I can't imagine many more being much better but I'm down for the challenge if you have suggestions. I got 3 homestyle and 3 hot whole wings. The homestyle is just plan fried chicken, no sauce but it was seasoned very well and cooked to crispy perfection! The hot ones made me pause on the first bite because I wasn't expecting that taste once I bit into it. The pause was good btw. They have a homemade hot sauce, which is not even close to hot so don't be afraid, and it definitely has it's own unique dance it does to the palate and taste buds! Highly recommended!!! I've visited Memphis at least 5 times but just now learning about it. Good thing I have to drive back through next week because this will now be a regular planned stop.
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
Saw this place was featured in diners drive ins and dives and so glad we had to chance to order from here. I got the 4 piece hot chicken with fries and it also came with a biscuit that was everything!! The spice on this chicken let me tell you was absolutely the best sweet, tangy and good heat it is honestly the best chicken I have ever had! There cool aide we brought home a half gallon of orange and that is delicious too! If ever visiting Memphis make sure to hit this place up! It's not too far from Graceland so it is definitely worth it
google avatar

Jamar M.

Yelp
My first time visiting. I must be honest, I was curious because I moved to Whitehaven and heard a lot about the place and decided to shop in the neighborhood. I got a 3 piece tender w/ green beans and a 4pc special w/ Sweet and Spicy Love Beans. Chicken was 2 out of 5 because it literally had NO Seasoning! The tenders nor the chicken. The green beans were and Sweet and Spicy Beans were alright but the savoriness of the beans didn't fully mesh with the Sweet and Spicy Sauce. The honey biscuit was a bit soggy. I likely will not be back but overall it was okay for me. Finally, these prices for sides are ridiculous. $4 for a very small side.

Yelp
Delicious, Tasty, Excellent Customer Service, Friendly, Welcoming, Great Atmosphere. They are Awesome, the whole Staff. Look at all my food.

Heather M.

Yelp
We are here based on reviews and we're not disappointed one bit. The chicken tenderloins were absolutely amazing. Honey biscuits??? Yes, please. Really great food all around.

Yelp
This was my favorite meal while visiting Memphis. Rough area, but so worth it! Their chicken and sauce was out of this world. The slaw was great, and the biscuits were amazing...They were perfectly done with a sweet honey sauce - perfect amount. 15/10
