Uncle Wrinkle is a truly special place, run by the same family from Hong Kong since 1995. The restaurant is tiny—only three tables—but even if there’s a queue, it’s worth the wait. I’ve been here a few times, and it never fails to charm: the space is cosy, the staff are friendly, and most importantly, their British-style Hong Kong dishes are delicious.
In my opinion, they deserve a solid four stars. Why not five? Well… we ordered the duck in orange sauce on two separate visits, and both times it arrived pretty cold. It could be a wonderful dish if not for this issue. They defrost some of their meats, which is probably why the duck wasn’t hot enough.
Other dishes, however, did not disappoint—the crispy lamb in sauce was amazing, and the pork ribs were great as well. Overall, it’s definitely a place you should visit when you’re in the area.
