Uncommon Objects – A Treasure Hunt Like No Other Absolutely worth the drive — Uncommon Objects lives up to its name and then some. Every inch of the space is packed with bizarre, beautiful, curious, and one-of-a-kind finds. It feels like stepping into a museum curated by the world’s most interesting collector, but everything is for sale. You’ll find vintage oddities, antique pieces, art, taxidermy, ephemera — stuff you didn’t know you needed until you saw it. The layout is thoughtful, the vibe is eclectic and welcoming, and the staff is helpful without hovering. If you love the weird, the rare, and the storied, this place is a must. One of the coolest shopping experiences in Texas.

I came to Austin for an AI internship this summer. Just finished my first week and started my first weekend. I arrived at Uncommon Objects on a sunny Saturday afternoon, and stepping inside felt like walking into the attic of the world’s most fascinating collector. This antique store isn’t just a shop—it’s a curated maze of the bizarre and beautiful. From the life-sized giraffe statue greeting you at the entrance to a surreal taxidermy goat dressed as a Victorian officer, every corner has something that stops you in your tracks. I spotted wooden eggs, turtle shells, preserved reptiles in jars, and even a mummified animal foot. A little unsettling—but mesmerizing. Some displays felt like time capsules: vintage figurines of Chinese deities sat beside Dutch maidens and porcelain dishes. Others leaned into the strange and whimsical—a giant rabbit loomed over shoppers like a mascot of eccentricity. The store layout invites exploration, with each booth revealing a new personality and era. It’s not a place to “just shop”—it’s an experience. You’ll leave wondering if you visited a museum, a curiosity cabinet, or a dream. I didn’t buy anything, but I left with a dozen stories. This is one of Austin’s weirdest and most wonderful treasures.

Google
This antique mall is chalk full of really nifty objects. The vendors all have quality items, and the way everything is displayed by color is pretty cool. I may not shop here again though. The prices (even though most are in fairly good condition) are outrageous, beyond what I am personally willing to pay. I’m not saying “don’t go” or “stay away.” It’s just not a place for me. It was fun to walk around and browse the beautifully artful way the entire store is set up.

Google
Uncommon Objects is my favorite place to go for unique gifts and embellishments to create jewelry/purses. I'm also a collector of letters and photos and find many of my collectables here. When my husband and mother were alive, I often purchased their gifts here. My mother was Roman Catholic and loved religious items and my husband, the opposite, loved occult items. I easily found gifts for both of them here. If you're an interior designer looking for beautiful stage pieces, this should definitely be one of your first stops! Wonderful place with wonderful folks. Looking for unique gifts? Uncommon Objects is the place to go.

Google
What a treat to find this place. Absolutely loved my journey through all the wonderful vintage. You will definitely find some treasures here.

Google
Pound for pound one of the top five antique stores in America. I've been to thousands over the years and you will be hard pressed to find a better store with this many quality items.

Bailey Gibson

Google
This has been my favorite store since I was a kid. Everyone working here is very kind and helpful too. I will never stop coming back!

Stacie Eliseeva

Google
To me, it’s more of a museum than an actual thrift store. Amazing variety of vintage little (and huge) things! I would recommend visiting this place for the first date - just imagine how many conversation starters are there! And the store is big, so if the date goes bad you can always hide and run away 😅

Yelp
My yearning for a trinket is much more uncommon than I can say. I may slither through the aisle searching my beady eye for a an object I will capture. What joy. My wife will never recover after reading the price on the receipt but she will not judge after she casts her gaze upon the glorious marsupial. Cheers!

Yelp
Uncommon Objects is a great name for this place, it just makes sense. Honestly the best antique shop I've ever gone to. They have the cutest things ever, big or small. I bought a tiny brass swinging chair, and I never buy anything from antique stores but it was too cute. They have something for everyone and the store is well organized. Great way to kill a solid hour-hour and half in Austin. We came here before heading to the airport, it was honestly so fun. Parking is easy.
google avatar

Danielle R.

Yelp
I don't think there is a better name for a store out there. Uncommon objects has just that. I wasn't sure what I was looking for but I wouldn't have found it anyway. Piles and sorts of all different kinds of...everything.

Yelp
My wife suggested we go here since we like to go to antique stores. Want to see a good haunting this season? You definitely need to come and see what they shelve behind these closed doors. Upon arrival, there's limited parking out front but if you go around the right side of the building, there is additional parking in the back. It's very clean and accessible. We have found that they are dog friendly and allowed us to walk around and see all the great and imaginable items for sale. A lot of creepy items as you can see in my photos. Items collected throughout the eras throughout the world are shelved here in crammed in the corners as well, as hung from the ceilings. The only thing that was missing was a haunting sounding hiss of wind blowing in the air. This is a great place to come visit and blow off your afternoon. Very entertaining collectibles at affordable prices. I'm sure if you brought just cash you can probably negotiate certain items. Very friendly staff on the floor. Chances are you'll probably be seeing me here more on the weekends.
google avatar

Candice N.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Went for the first time finally this weekend and wish we'd gotten there earlier to spend more time. I could spend an entire day in here just browsing. Some really neat stuff.
google avatar

Taylor B.

Yelp
If you like old stuff that your grandma had that wasn't cool, but now is cool. Well, this is your spot. Good parking and a nice place to kill time. So many breakables.
google avatar

Lianna T.

Yelp
When my friend suggested going to a store that was described online as an antique store, I wasn't too enthusiastic. But I am glad we went! The store is curated by 27 different collectors and seems more like a museum than a store. It's impossible not to be awed by the impressive and creatively displayed collections. Any and everything is collected here from dolls to taxidermy to appliances. Also a perfect place to escape the Austin heat.

Yelp
Went to the uncommon flea market in Sunday and it was really cool!! The sellers are all really nice and no one is pressuring you to buy anything. I liked the clothes selection but things can be a little pricey. I think it's worth it to go especially if you like vintage or thrift shopping!!
google avatar

Steve W.

Yelp
From the outside, you would never expect this store to be as big as it is. It is a very spacious store perhaps 5000 ft.². Every conceivable knickknack and collectible can be found here. This is similar to an antique mall where you will have two dozen or so vendors sharing booths in the store. One thing I noticed was that there were different locations throughout the store of records. The selection here it is so vast that it's easier to point out what is not here than what is. For example, I did not spot any vintage clothing or antique stereo equipment, although I did find a few radio tubes. One thing that I found consistent throughout the store is the fact that you're going to pay top dollar for everything. The other thing that seemed very consistent was the fact that the condition of all these collectibles were in very nice original condition, which deserves a higher price. One thing that may entice you to visit, is the fact that they have an additional flea market of up to 30 vendors behind their store on the last Sunday of every month (see photos below). Plenty of photos below to get you in through the door.

Yelp
Was in the neighborhood and saw this cute little place. We easily found parking right in front of the store and noticed lots of people of all ages walking in. As I walked in there was an array of unique items that really intrigued me to walk in and enjoy the hunt for something fun. Everything was nicely displayed and sometimes color coded, which I particularly loved. This place was filled with trinkets, old photos, records and the list goes on. This place is a wonder trove of things from the past, so if you like that sort of stuff, this place is for you! My husband found an amethyst crystal that was very unique and reasonably priced at $40. At check out the staff was very nice and wished us good day. If you have time, check out this place and have fun check out all the fun finds!
google avatar

Zinta B.

Yelp
I was in the mood to find a unique store to go to and I definitely found it! Uncommon objects exceeded my expectations all the way around. There's so many unique and amazing finds here that it would be hard to leave empty handed. The staff also said on the last Sunday of every month, they have 30 additional vendors set up at the shop too. If you are thinking about going here, don't think about it and just go!
google avatar

Beth S.

Yelp
What a fun place! They have multiple vendors so lots to look at. Make sure you have time to check it all! We walked through store three separate times to be sure saw it all, and still know we didn't. Some of the pricing is a little high, but from listening to othrt conversations it sounds like you can make offers if want. Probably won't get immediate answer but if that works for you it's worth trying. Great staff who made sure we knew about their monthly flea market, where get additional vendors and set up in parking lot with music and food. Girl Scouts even sell food as fundraiser!
google avatar

Chelsey H.

Yelp
An antique store by any other name would delight much. Lots of fun slowly perusing and exploring with a friend. The staff were so friendly. I truly believe they would have taken every item out of the jewelry case for me if I asked, and I asked them to take out a lot! I never got the sense that I was a nuisance like I have felt at other places. Loved visiting this place during my time in Austin!
google avatar

Heidi K.

Yelp
What a fun hole in the wall place to visit! Lots of weird taxidermy, collectibles, antiques, and knick knacks. The prices are fairly reasonable and the people who work there are very friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Kayla B.

Yelp
This place was so so fun! I loved coming here. It was almost like hunting for treasure. Can't wait to come back and find new goodies.

Bianca C.

Yelp
Very many beautiful items but unfortunately it's a bit overpriced. But I did enjoy looking at the antiques.
google avatar

Angie D.

Yelp
This place is worth a look for sure - they have so so so many things to explore and you are sure to find something to your liking. Most of their items are priced on the higher end - or a little over if you are an eBay hunter or avid antique collector- but their selection is amazing and you don't have to pay shipping.
google avatar

J. Antonio H.

Yelp
This shop is chuffed with one-of-a-kind finds. Tramp art, human skulls and everything betwixt. This location while no longer on So Co but this location is huge and a good way to spend an afternoon. Unlike Congress, you can easily park here. A first choice anywhere
google avatar

Kim S.

Yelp
Great little vintage store if you are looking for something to do. The store is much easier to get to with no parking issues and really laid and staged beautifully. They have a huge inventory with a lot of cool things however the prices are pretty outrageous. So all of you resellers looking to flip stuff - this will be a total waste of your time. Antique / vintage store prices have definitely gone up like everything else since the pandemic. Either way, it's a cool store to browse, you will definitely find some interesting items here.
google avatar

Charlynne A.

Yelp
Me and my mom were driving around Austin. You know just casually strolling thru the city. Taking pics at the touristy murals. And I was looking for a place to just look around in the hot heat. Busted out with Yelp, and came across this place. It's so fun! I should have asked the history. But this place has an amazing collection of random objects and trinkets! I'm almost positive that the colorful items are from thrifty stores, or from people who have past. You will find everything and everything in there. From mini glass collectibles, to preserved pig and chipmunk bodies, pictures from WW2, clothes that you see from history books, you name it. Almost pretty positive some items are haunted. As far as COVID is concerned. You must wear a mask to enter, they have masks for purchase. You need to adhere to 6" social distancing and there are arrows on the ground to follow. Other than that, this business is opened!
google avatar

James W.

Yelp
This was a very interesting Mojave. Had some wicked cool stuff, way weird, but I have to say, a lot is way over priced. One such item was an old tile desk top fan, looking at it the fan is vintage looking for sure, but closer inspection shows it's not old, it's a replica, and they wanted $1200 for this fan!!!!! Many other items we liked but the prices for a $50-60 normal purchase was over $200. Way excessive, but.... People are paying the rates, and they were busy. It's a definite cool place for off the wall and strange items, definitely worth a stop, tho bring a big credit card.
google avatar

Brooke F.

Yelp
Very disappointing. Not friendly staff, Extremely over priced and nothing you cant see in any old antique mall. I understand paying a premium for curated vintage and antiques but the prices in this place were far above market value. I deal with vintage and antiques in LA and NY and never see these prices. Dont know how this place is still open. I am not complaining about it being expensive - i am saying its OVER priced. Pretty decent selection but nothing worth writing home about or worth paying 5x market value for. I was excited to see this place and am now leaving empty handed and bummed
google avatar

Janet P.

Yelp
Fun selection of everything you can imagine. I always find something when I visit. Staff is very helpful.
google avatar

John K.

Yelp
Now this place isn't for everyone but if you like odd stuff, cool trinkets, history this place is awesome. I could spend hours wandering around looking at things. It's like American pickers meets pawn stars meets ricks restoration. The place seems a little intimidating the staff is friendly there too. Some stuff can be spendy but can't put a price collectibles or things that are one offs.
google avatar

Bruce K.

Yelp
This antique store and I was just a tourist today. Lots to look at, lots to examine, lots of interesting history going on here. You'll find things that you will not find anywhere else, not even on eBay. Road signs, ash trays, taxidermy, weird designs of plates and cups and saucers, books, wall signs, globes, lamps, old postcards, too many to name. Prices range from cheap to expensive, as things tend to do. It's definitely worth a browse. [Review 10191 overall, 1777 of 2018.]
google avatar

Martha S.

Yelp
Cool but insanely expensive. Some things where not vintage just used, but where being sold for double it's new price (knifes and watches you should look out for). Employees not super helpful and couldn't really tell you anything. A place I don't want to see go but maybe get more accurate prices and more knowledgeable employees. If you have some money to burn, like vintage Knick knacks, cursed looking dolls, and animal bones, you'll love this place.

Ryan L.

Yelp
Nice shop and true to its name. Sadly when you get to the register and taped to the desk are 100's of photos of little girls in cheerleading and dance outfits. The owner laughed and said..."creepy I know. " Pedophiles that find it humorous and openly admit it with a smile. Gross.
google avatar

Robbie C.

Yelp
I admit, I'm eccentric. I collect things. Weird things. I get a wild hair, and I have to have it. In comes UnCommon Objects. For whatever reason, while at lunch, I decided I wanted a mummified bat. Correction: Needed a mummified bat. Well, here it is. A dried bat in my hands less than an hour later. Uh, thanks I guess?
google avatar

Amanda S.

Yelp
The title says it all. Definitely very many uncommon objects in this store. Some creepy, some odd (such as a giant ball made out of a ton of buttons and wire), some historical, and some unique. I was interested in the various ethnic, cultural, and religious artifacts they had on display, as well as the stuffed animals and artwork. Cool store!
google avatar

veya p.

Yelp
There is so much to look at you don't even know where to start, not to mention the kind staff.
google avatar

Dan F.

Yelp
You can really get lost in this shop. No literally lost, but like lost in thought. So many things to look at and can be a bit overwhelming. Although it may look chaotic in the shop, it's actually quite well organized. I enjoy how they group some things by different shades of the same primary color. So many interesting things I have never seen before and makes you wonder what the stories are behind some items. I especially enjoyed looking through a box of old photographs. I bent down to reach for a shiny metal device and started squeezing the handle and turning the screw thingy, when this lady started laughing and asked if I knew what I was holding? Obviously I didn't, so she told me it was a gynecological device. I just didn't have any words after that. I dropped it back where I found it, and walked away praying and hoping it was sanitized. A great shop to explore and look at some cool stuff. One could easily spend hours before realizing it. Prices are well, pricey. Take a peruse if in the area and you might just walk away with a treasure or two.
google avatar

Chun P.

Yelp
If you Google "Weird things to do in Austin"(or something like that), Uncommon Objects will likely come up. If you've never been inside an antique store, this place will be novel and exciting. If you're a geeky weirdo like me who has been to many a antique store in America, small and large, this place is still relatively fun but not thrilling and not the best use if your time if have limited vacation time in Austin. If dead animals creep you out, such as dead mice heads glued onto toy dolls and holiday cards, then you might want to avoid this place. Friendly and welcoming staff! Amurr'ca!
google avatar

Amanda S.

Yelp
In case you didn't know Uncommon Objects is no longer located on South Congress - they moved! The new location is in south Austin just north of 71, not too far from Radio Coffee and practically next door to Casino South Side. The new spot is nice. I honestly couldn't tell if it was bigger or smaller than the old spot, but it is definitely laid out differently. A huge benefit to the new place I would say is the open area in the back. I am not sure what they will use this for on the regular, but for the grand opening party they had tables set up outside, a DJ, food and a bar. It was pretty cool! I could totally see someone hosting a small event back there if it were an option. Uncommon Objects is full of neat, unique and special treasures. If you are into antiques or know some that is this is the perfect place to shop. Sometimes things can be on the pricey side, but there are definitely some good finds here. The staff is always super friendly too. Uncommon Objects is an Austin icon and I was sad to see them have to leave their South Congress location. I am however super excited to see what this new chapter brings to them and to South Austin!
google avatar

Billy R.

Yelp
My second time here and it's pretty cool. A lot of oddities and a great place to spend the afternoon. The reason for the 4 stars is prices are a tad on the high side, however it must work for them because the place is always packed
google avatar

Sean C.

Yelp
This place is filled with some of the most eclectic, weird, downright cool, and 100% not haunted items. I fell in love with a taxidermy bull mastiff they have by the front door. It's enormous, like the size of a bear. I know that dog has a story to tell, I need to know where it came from! That's next to a bust of an Abraham Lincoln and some excellent taxidermy specimens on the wall. This place is great for gifts for your quirky loved one or your bruja friend. The people are nice here too.
google avatar

Paul D.

Yelp
Uncommon Objects Not your typical junk antique store where items are perfectly organized by color, type and style. Every time I have been here it has always been packed with people (mostly tourists) browsing around. I would define this place like as if someone raided your grandmother's home and sold every little trinket. You can spend hours digging around and even long if you take your parents with you where they will just talked you how they used to use one of these trinkets as a child. If looking for some unusual items for home decor then this place is for you. Enjoy!
google avatar

Basilea A.

Yelp
I adore this place! I've been to many antique shops, but this really screams 'antique'. I love how everything here is oh so different. There isn't two of the same things. It's pretty big, but the amount of amazing things to see will definitely have you waking around, "ooh-ing" and "ahhh-ing" at everything!
google avatar

Leslie A.

Yelp
Need an apothecary jar with the contents still intact? How about a collection of prison photos or bones? This is the place for you! Yeah, the prices are a little high but the incredible treasures you find at every turn are well worth it! I could easily stay here all day!!!
google avatar

Chelsea O.

Yelp
This place has a lot of cool objects. You could spend hours just walking around looking at everything. I would say it's on the higher price end for a antique store.
google avatar

Anna D.

Yelp
The most unique antique shop. Find the perfect gift for a fellow weirdo! The rooms are curated beautifully and a must stop for thrift shoppers and special oddities. Friendly staff.
google avatar

marc j.

Yelp
Visually stunning arrangement of eclectic and unique items. Highly recommend to just come and take it all in. So far my favorite store during our trip to austin. Both hubby and I really enjoyed walking around. Staff super friendly. I had no intention of buying anything walking in as we are traveling light, but left with a little something. Keep it up!
google avatar

J G.

Yelp
Each time i'm in town, I make a stop here. I never know what i'll find and even if I dont find anything to purchase, I still have a good time perusing. Each stall has a bit of a different vibe and it is well stocked. I've never seen a stall lacking in product--so what i'm saying is if vintage/antique shopping in your thing (especially if looking for some oddities type objects) this is the place for you. Parking: a few spots at the front that seem to always be filled, but plenty of room in the back. Payments: accepts card and I believe as of last visit, there is a small discount for cash payment and their was a note by the register that a service fee is applied for card payments. Here I don't recall if there was a minimum and then a fee is applied, but if you have cash and want all funds to go to support local then there you go.
google avatar

Panda T.

Yelp
Amazing. So many things. Taxidermy has a whole other realm here (I'm a big fan of old school frames & the eyes were made of lead glass), it's an oddities museum where you can pretty much purchase the displays. Depending on the booth, the prices fluctuate between reasonable ($350 for a taxidermy bobcat) to outrageous. That being said, it's amazingly fun to walk around & gasp. I'll be back when I have more permanent living quarters.
google avatar

Caroline R.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had heard about Uncommon Objects and decided to pass by since we were going to be in Austin. There is parking right in front of the store and we were able to park right away. The store was a lot bigger than I thought it would be, and had TONS to look at. Prices were a bit higher than I thought, but I think that it is reasonable considering they are unique items/antiques (I think on average, most things started at $20, but I did see some small things like photos for $1.) There are photos, lamps, dish sets, statues, dolls and old toys, and lot's of things that could be used for decorating. I think each section is managed by a different person, and I know at least one of them is open to negotiation on pricing (so maybe everyone is?) Overall, it is a cool place and I would like to come back with more time to really look at everything.
google avatar

Kim D.

Yelp
I adore Uncommon Objects. For being a hodge-podge of items, everything is very well organized, easy to navigate, and clean. I always find a number of gems at good prices (the other day, I found Hardy Boys books from the 1930s, and I was in heaven). The new location is great!
google avatar

Mel M.

Yelp
Found exactly what I needed, even if I didn't need it! The oversized sun ashtray. Look wonderful in my garden!!
google avatar

Wa W.

Yelp
Visited the store several times. It's 3 . Uncommon Flea is 4 . Found great things. Enjoyed talking to nice people. I'll be back. Last Sunday of the month from 10-3.
google avatar

Adrienne D.

Yelp
I remember visiting this shop years ago in their previous location and was excited to return on my recent visit to Austin. Their new location has a different vibe but still plenty of neat and offbeat antiques to check out and you could easily spend a couple hours in here and not see everything. Prices veer a bit higher. You'll find a lot of intriguing items in several genres, loved seeing the old fashioned letters and postcards offering a glimpse at the past. Stop by if you're in the area!
google avatar

Amanda W.

Yelp
Unique little shop to browse around. I spent about 20 mins walking around, but I can see if all these 'uncommon objects' are your thing, then you could probably spend a lot longer here. In my mind, it's pricey. But what is pricey to some is not so to others, depending on the items in question. Plenty of parking. Very friendly front desk people.
google avatar

Rebecca B.

Yelp
Fun, funky, definitely weird. This is the kind of shop that you can explore for an hour plus. So many different and unique treasures. They care a wide variety of uncommon objects so there is something for everyone to enjoy. Didn't find anything to buy, but they get new items all the time.
