Rebellion Pizza to bring artisanal pies to Anthem | Eater Vegas

"A laid-back, proposed upscale wine lounge that began seeking construction approvals last month, envisioned as a relaxing, wine-focused spot. It is described as a newcomer to the area and is planned a couple of doors down from the incoming pizzeria." - Bradley Martin

I love this place. Probably one of my favorite restaurants on the Ave. The atmosphere is extremely relaxing setting a good tone for your night. The drinks are delicious as is the food. The portions are perfect and realistic with each bite just as good as the last. The staff is friendly and attentive, which always makes the dining experience better. Don’t sleep on this place.

Called in and there was an event. Despite having the event the hostess Ashley was able to reserved a table for two; as it was to celebrate my "person". We came in later than expected but was welcomed with open arms. Ashley seated me as I waited the birthday Boi. Had great conversations with my server who we found out later down towards the end of our dinner was actually the owner Becky. She was very sweet and gave us some recommendations for what to eat as well as drink. The food was amazing. We loved everything. We had the perogies for our snacks, vegetable risotto w/shrimp and their delectable chicken which was deliciously lemony over angel pasta. The drink was a rosé that was sweet and tasty. Oh we definitely will return. Thanks for making this birthday dinner memorable 🤍

Google
The cheesesteak eggrolls were okay. Expensive for what you got. Only two for 13 dollars. We also got a flatbread and the burger. Both were pretty terrible. No flavor and small portions. The burger was also really dry. I ordered the fries well done and some how they were soggy and limp. Pretty sure they weren't salted because they tasted like nothing. Not remotely worth the price. Service was good at least. We didn't have drinks so I can't comment on them.

Google
Uncorked is a great place to unwind, relax with friends and try many of the tapas that are available! Their new menu just dropped and you can tell they put a lot of thought into the fall menu! Their Gourd-geous pumpkin cocktail was delicious and the baked brie with pear, sage and honey was amazing! I will be coming back periodically to try each new menu item during their weekly specials and I encourage others to do so as well! The service is always quick, friendly and welcoming. Watch Penn Ave come to life while sipping on a glass of wine by the open garage door!

This place is our home away from home where everybody knows your name. Only place on the Avenue to get a good affordable glass of wine, fantastic happy hour and delicious food with specials every week! Love it here!

Google
A wonderful welcome and personalized attention to understanding menu details greatly impressed us on our first visit to Uncorked. Our server repeatedly checked in with us to make sure we understood the food menu and that we had everything we needed. The food was amazing! I enjoyed a delicious dish featuring scallops, roasted brussel sprouts over creamy risotto. Every bite was simply scrumptious! Our experience at uncorked was above expectations. It surely will be a restaurant to recommend and return to! Just wonderful!

Google
I would recommend Uncorkd to anyone in the area or visiting. Great dishes & specials. Something for everyone. Atmosphere is 5 stars. The staff is amazing and top notch from the bartenders to the waiting & serving staff. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and a pleasure to spend time with. Ownership is ever present. They clearly care and value every customer.

Google
Hands down mine and my wife’s favorite place to eat in west reading. Great food. Wonderful service. Enjoyable atmosphere. We go just ourselves and with friends. Can’t go wrong here!

Yelp
My wife and I were on a fall foliage road trip and stopped for the night in Wyomissing. We walked to uncorkd and, although we could have waited for a table, were offered a spot in the congenial bar. We shared the excellent charcuterie board and the marinated olives. Both dishes were excellent and made all the more flavorful by the good service and warm atmosphere.

Yelp
Great food and drinks! Definitely a bit changed since last time we visited under the old ownership - but in a good way! Great wine and whiskey selections. Though... Hostess was extremely rude when we brought extra people than we made the reservation for. A happy change of plans and more business for the restaurant... but she was very upset and said we should have called first and that it filled up fast in a small space. Well, we were there with a party of 6 for two hours on a Saturday night for dinner and there was still plenty of seating!!! Overall tasty food and wine!

Yelp
I'm so happy I've returned to this place. It's renamed and revamped. I've had snacks and small plates. I felt a little like I was in Venice eating the crostini and toppings. Burger and fries were great. Creamy risotto is big enough to share - and worth driving to get. The drink menu and whiskey offerings are extensive. You can sit and see outside and take your time. The staff was helpful and responsive. The food came out quick. All good!

Yelp
This place is now called Uncorked Friday evening 5/17 I met some friends on the Avenue for a night out. There were six of us and one of our stops was here. We entered the cocktail side of the business, there were 3 empty high top tables with seating for four patrons and we asked if we could push two together so we could sit together (we have done this several times when it was Winedown). The woman who greeted us gave us a hard time and excuses. So we left and went up the street to the Bar Cart instead. It's a shame because Uncorked was not that busy and they turned business away. I worked in the bar/restaurant environment and if we could we pushed tables together to accommodate the patrons 5/20 Becky We asked to push tables together on the cocktail side where the windows open, not the bar We have done this several times when it was Winedown.

Yelp
So let me start off by saying this is a place probably best enjoyed sitting down at the restaurant. We ordered our food to-go. My husband saw this place in West Reading last year pre-Covid but they closed, I'm guessing due to the pandemic. Fast-forward to a week ago and he saw they were open again. So we had to try it. Here's what we ordered: -Wagyu Burger Sliders: Yum! This was my favorite. The garlic aioli and the sweet onions are so good. The bacon wasn't too crispy and just enough of it for the entire slider. Two just wasn't enough! The flavor of the burger itself was fantastic. Will definitely order again. -Garlic fries: OMG Absolutely phenomenal. All the drinks we ordered to-go were delicious and even at home the dishes transferred well. The portion sizes would probably have been larger if we sat down in the restaurant. Will return to try that dine-in experience!

Yelp
Great atmosphere, friendly staff and good drinks! Don't miss their happy hour specials.

Yelp
Enjoyed another delicious meal and amazing cocktails at Uncorkd! One of our go to places for the evening!!!

Yelp
This is a fantastic place for food and/or drinks! The food is absolutely delicious and the drinks are very creative and unique. The owner and staff are all super friendly, overall a great place!

Yelp
This is Winedown 2.0 in every way! Happy hour with decent wine and whiskey at affordable prices. I almost hate to do this review because I'd love to keep this gem all to myself. They have a $20 per person dinner on Wednesdays and it's fabulous. 2 people get a bottle of wine and 2 entrees for $40. Whoever is setting this up/running the place kudos to you. Food is wonderful, portion sizes are perfect! I love that I don't need a to go bag. I can eat an appetizer, entree and desert and not feel like I need an hour on the treadmill. I liked the original Winedown but I love the new Winedown.

Yelp
We have been hearing about this place for a while but it sounded a little more upscale than what we were looking for. After reading a recent review we decided to give it a try last. Wow! Blew our minds. The shepherds pie, Caesar salad and Philly cheesesteak rolls is what we ordered. Just wow! Beyond our expectations. The servers were so attentive and kind. Even the owner came to our table to check on us. Just go. It's amazing.

Yelp
6/23/2018 - Very impressed with Wine Down and I can't wait to come back. First, I have to say that Nicole, who took care of us was incredible. She has impeccable customer service skills! We came in as a group of four and sat on a high top. Nicole got us menus and water. After hearing her recommendations, we decided on one of the specials; Shrimp tostadas, arugula, fresh tomato and also the CASTELVETRANO OLIVES ($5), TOMATO BRUSCHETTA MOZZERALLA, BASIL OIL Toast ($5.50) and a CHEESE AND SALUMI BOARD (three $15). We all ordered individual glasses of wine to go with the appetizers. The Shrimp Tostadas came out hot. There were two big shrimp on each. Perfect to share. The olives came with toast on the side. My favorite was the Cheese and Salumi Board. You can order one, two or three and mix and match. For our cheese, we ordered the PIAVE VECCHIO[ITALY]cheese which has a flavor like parmigiano reggiano, PRIMA DONNA [HOLLAND] tasted like aged gouda. For the salumi, we ordered SWEET COPPA [ITALY] DUCK PROSCIUTTO. It came in a cool black board with toast, marcona almonds, fig, pickled onions and a side of a spicy mustard. It was the perfect board. Prices were very reasonable with food between $7 and $16 and most wines priced from $8 to $12. They offer specialty drinks and there is a Whiskey Bar accessible right next door that is part of Wine Down. Both atmospheres are relaxing and fun.

Yelp
Service was excellent and the food was great! Bar tender was attentive and made phenomenal drinks and engaged with every customer!

Yelp
One of the few non-sports bar/beer themed places to have a drink and eat in West Reading. The food is great and so reasonably priced. Will always come back as long as they keep the up-scale vibes and great menu & cocktail selection

Yelp
Its Awesome not that Little Miss Piggy doesn't own it! The new owners are why I'm back, and the food and service is great.

Yelp
My friends and I really enjoy going to winedown. They have both inside and outside tables, and you could sit on the whiskey side, too. Their food and drinks have always been good. Only thing is I wish they didn't get rid of their wine flights.. Otherwise a great place to go to!

Yelp
Solid, above average restaurant that's particularly well suited for date nights and social gatherings, I'd say. We had a tuna appetizer (good), a whipped ricotta appetizer (good and quite plentiful), and a burger (solid). The server was very mindful of dietary restrictions, much appreciated. Definitely a place to which I would return.

Yelp
I can only go off my experience from the bar. So this past Saturday I finally stopped in to grab a drink (Tequila is my go to). So the bartenders were super cool. Pretty personable n laidback. The tequila selection was about the same as other places in Reading area. And as much as I'd like to see more places carry Teremana tequila aka the Rock's signature tequila. I made due with what they had. So I also ordered the Blueberry, Lemon cheesecake for $10. Yes a regular slice of cheesecake for $10. Well after a few spoonfuls, the bartender knew I wasn't happy about my dessert choice. It was dry, I'm assuming from the coffee cake type crumbles on it and it was over all not that good. I'd say 2/10. But hey. I ordered it so I ate it.

Yelp
Ambiance is a grown and sexy feel. Stellar selection of wines and knowledgeable staff. Try any recommended pairings and be sure to leave with a smile!
google avatar

Carl D.

Yelp
Disappointing. Went it for happy hour, sat at the bar, and was almost totally ignored. When I arrived, the bartender was having an animated conversation with a couple she obviously knew - which is fine - but not at the expense of ignoring your other guests. They left, and she did a credible imitation of Lot's wife: turning into a pillar of salt. Not a word of conversation now that her friends had departed. The food - at least the nibble I had - was good, which is why the place gets three stars. I opted for the prosciutto app, which arrived quickly and was tasty. But the bottom line is that I wasn't made to feel important or even appreciated. And that's an important facet of the hospitality industry. Doubt I'll be back.

Yelp
What a cute wine/whiskey bar! The two places connect which is convenient and makes it roomy. We grabbed a high top table by the wine bar and a waitress came over to serve us drinks. We didn't try any food. My boyfriend did the whiskey sampler and I did the Sonoma Cuterer Chardonnay (one of my favs!) We both enjoyed our drinks very much. Definitely suggest visiting here for a low key spot, great for a date night!

Yelp
This was my first time here and I throughly enjoyed myself. We came during happy hour and really enjoyed the selection they had. This place is very intimate but not on a completely romantic way. Definitely a spot to visit after work. I had 2 sangrias, red & white; the red was better for me but both were good. I also had the cheesesteak egg rolls which I loved. Hot and cooked very well. My entree was the chimichurri pork tenderloins which were cooked to perfection. I would definitely order it again. My girlfriend got the bistro tenderloins which she said were good but she liked my entree better and I agreed with her lol. Both of our plates came with some green vegetables that we were unsure of what they were. They had an interesting taste that we weren't that fond of. All in all, I can't wait to move into my new apartment up the street and be able to walk UPDATE: WE LOVE THIS PLACE! We have become regulars to the point that the general manager knows what we want as soon as we sit down. We've also become friends with one of the waitresses Shanisa who also knows what we order every time. This place is like its only little family. The manager called it her "home" and as long as we are in her house, she will take care of us. We just brought our neighbors with us last night and they loved it so we will continue to introduce people to this business.

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't done a review here yet! I have been here countless times since they first opened It's definitely one of my favorite places to visit in the berks county area In addition to having a great wine selection, they also have some nice eatery options that have expanded over time The atmosphere is very chill/relaxed If you enjoy wine i would highly recommend

Yelp
Very nice atmosphere and great service. I really enjoyed my Naan flatbread and my husband his burgers. They had just sold their last limoncello cake slice but the strawberry cake they offered me was yummy. Husband liked his coffee cake. Very nice vermentino. Waitress kindly offered to check how freshly opened the bottles were we will return. Just wish the menu was a bit bigger.

Yelp
Winedown and the Whiskey Bar are certainly one of the cutest, intimate, inviting and chill spots around to enjoy a cocktail! Such an asset to the West Reading scene. Was one of the firsts on the Ave and is still one of the best!!!! Great date spot, too. Not a wine drinker, but that's ok in the rest of their delicious offerings. And a Whiskey Bar is closing a cocktail bar gap absolutely needed in the area. Only critique was a recent visit, for the first time exploring their entree menu. The Butternut Squash Risotto....an absolute needs improvement. No creaminess, undercooked squash and overboard on the sage. Stick to the cheese boards But all in all, super high recommendation! Love it here!

Kendall Chris S.

Yelp
Wine very good, but charcuterie board too expensive for amount of cheese and meat provided. Very small amount for the price...

Yelp
Just an awesome place for wine and the best place for whisky and bourbon in Berks County. I cannot say enough great times about this place! Except for one thing i wish the three older gentlemen that sit at the end of the bar would stop arguing so much! Again here is wishing for another ten great years!
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome selection and the wait staff is on point and knowledgeable! Great spot for after dinner drinks. Looking forward to coming back soon.

Yelp
My wife and I tried this place last week. Shes a vegetarian and it can be a challenge. It was a really nice after work joint. Friendly staff and a great selection. We love the small plates and appetizers and didn't initially go in for food but ended up ordering "entrees" too. They have a GREAT wine selection by the glass and they even helped my wife go outside her comfort zone and try some new (delicious) wines. I started with beer but the gentleman next to me got a SCOTCH FLIGHT and somehow one ended up on my table too (LOL) - Not many places have this selection of scotch (Speyside, Highland, and my favorite-Islay). Its a wine bar so it caters a bit more female, but we are definitely going back. You should try.

Yelp
As I am far from a wino but me and my fiancé enjoy a fun night out trying new things, I was nervous stepping into an actual wine bar located in the rolling farmland hills of Reading. Two thoughts entered my mind: 1) This can either be "barefoot moscato and an assortment of cabot cheese" dull because I already do that at home to the sounds of The Notebook in the background, thank you or 2) just plain pretentious. But here, neither of that! Impressed with the knowledge the staff conveyed with the wine list to even with the cheeses. You really can tell they stay informed on the latest wine news and care about the service they provide. Management checks on customers too which is also good. The ambiance is also cozy, warm and romantic. Very nice touch to West Reading. Perfect for date night or girls night when your BFF comes into town .

JP W.

Yelp
Very reliable for tasty apps and a nice wine themed bar. Prices are reasonable and service good.

Yelp
Prices were a little high. Food was fantastic. Very fresh. Small kitchen so kinda slow service but wait staff very accommodating. Wine was paired nicely with food and staff was Knowledgeable and made great recommendations. Nice ambiance.

Yelp
Best spot for wine and simply delicious food! No place around like it!! They also have an awesome whiskey bar next door... The staff is super helpful, so don't be scared if you don't know a lot about wine or whiskey, they'll help you out! They have the absolute best cheeses and charcuterie plates in town! Also, they recently changed their dinner menu, and it's AMAZING! Definitely a place to check out!

Annalise M.

Yelp
This is the best restaurant in Berks County. The service is wonderful, the food and drinks are phenomenal. Its well priced for a nice meal and great ambiance.

Yelp
Great little spot! The grapefruit cosmo is delish as is their meat and cheese plates. The place has a chill vibe. Will definitely return.

Yelp
We recently went to Winedown about a couple of weeks ago. My fiancé and I both enjoyed the food. We had the steak and frites and for dessert salted Carmel gelato which our server recommended for us and we tried. It was awesome. The only thing I wished was if they had French onion soup but the staff was great! We enjoyed our night our together and will definitely go back

Yelp
I love coming to this place. Sure, there are many places in which you can get drinks; however, the ambience of this place makes a sure thing for a date. The wine selection and the beer specials are well within the price range of the more budget conscious individual. The staff caters to their customers and are extremely knowledgeable about the selection of wines. Even after just a few visits, one is welcomed and remembered. Excellent service. Excellent selection. There is much to love and little to loath about this place.

Yelp
Visiting Reading from Florida, very tasty plates and enjoyable cocktails. Server and bartender Michael is very attentive and uses excellent, subtle movements when serving drinks. Example, the glass of water he serves, the drink napkin is server btwn in the fingers and lays nicely when placing the drink down - just a nice move. Conversation is nice as well, versed in many a topics.

Yelp
I remember the buzz around town when this place first opened. I once went in twice in one day with different friends -- everyone wanted to get a look and a drink here. Still going strong, it is the only wine bar in town, a relaxing stylish understated atmosphere crafted from a row home and an important part of the renaissance that is West Reading. I thought surely when one wine bar became successful, others would crop up, but Winedown pretty much has the entire market. Winedown is now open on Sundays, which is a good thing, because Sunday pickings in this county are slim. In the last year, they have added an outdoor patio. The menu has recently been upgraded, and I was pleased to see that some (plant-based) things I had suggested showed up on it. Thank you Ben, for listening to your customers and being open to vegan food. Small plate snacks are artfully presented, and they will customize dishes without making you feel like a pain. Service in here has always been very sweet and personable, whether you are at the bar or a table. The wines are listed by style, which is always helpful, because you can choose by your mood. Their daily drink specials are good too. I recently got in on the Beaujolais Nouveau (which the French rush around for at this time of year) at $5 a glass, and it is quite good this year. Glassware is roomy to allow appropriate space inside, and they know how to make cocktails too. I'd love to see them add more vintage recipes to the menu. That trend is passing in major cities but still has not hit our county. You will never be stuck with an oxidized glass here, and they pay attention to wine news and are up on what is going on in the wine world in order to bring it to you. They have classes and special events too. I was hoping they would buy the empty space next door and expand, but it's ok; a very cool little bookshop grabbed it.
google avatar

Greg P.

Yelp
Winedown is a great wine bar and restaurant on Penn Avenue in West Reading. They offer a nice selection of wines by the glass. Most are from small wineries that you'll never see on a Berks County wine list. The wine list is nicely arranged. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly so even if you're not a wine expert they will help you make a great selection. With a decidedly intimate atmosphere, winedown is a great place to take a date. Couch seating in the back is a great place to sit with that special person in your life.
google avatar

Katie R.

Yelp
I don't know what's taken me so long to yelp about Winedown. I am there almost every week and always have a great experience. I usually try a different wine when I am there and they are all good. I have also had a few of their small plates and liked them all, though usually I order the cheese plate. I mean, what's better than wine and cheese? What really makes Winedown my favorite spot is the service. The owner, bartenders, and waitresses are all welcoming, friendly, and efficient. They rock! Winedown also has beer and cocktails. It's a great place to go for a drink before or after dinner on the Avenue, on a date, or to catch up with your girlfriends.
google avatar

Xtine H.

Yelp
This was a relaxing place to go w a girl friend. They have scoured the area for the best cheeses and every time we have been there that is what we order. I am more of a sangria drinker, and my compatriot is a white wine drinker-the drier the better! This would appeal to any wine enthusiast and the menu accompanies nicely.
google avatar

Liz W.

Yelp
This place is great and a great addition to the West Reading restaurant scene. My husband and I went here after dinner. I had a nice red and he had a beer on tap. The service was great. The vibe was cool and relaxed without feeling pretentious. I also had a piece of cake, and I can't remember what it was for the life of me, but it was fabulous. I noticed some people getting sandwiches and salads also and I had food envy. I'll be back.

Yelp
Finally! A decent wine bar in Reading.....This place is a must go. They have a very nice selection of wines from around the world at reasonable prices. The staff is supper friendly and seem very happy to work there. I love the decor. It modern and warm at the same time. It is quiet enough for a conversations but it can get loud on weekends depending on the crowd. The food was excellent, especially complimented by some drinks. I say drinks because even though its a wine bar, they offer beer and mixed drinks too. My girlfriend and I love the white sangria. You will not be disappointed. Parking can be a pain on the weekends and I wish they would so a cheese or meats blocks at the bar. Overall, I nice place to have a nice glass of wine and relax.
google avatar

Allison G.

Yelp
The wine bar Winedown has a large selection of curated wine. From my conversation with one of the founders(or manager) from a networking event, he has a great understanding for wines and how to deliver them with tastes. There is a basic tapas style menu covered by appetizer. They have a good amount of cheese to choose from goat or cow cheese. The flavors are discussed in detail on the menu. The ambience is dark and hushed with low light levels. It is a good place for happy hour relaxation and quite, eclectic tastes. The parking is on street so you will need to find a place if it is busy. West Reading is a nice place to check out after you're down. Winedown has a big-city urban feel that is free flowing. Step inside and get a taste of what the restuarant has to offer you. I know the wine and cheese has my votes.

Yelp
For a date night we decided to try something new while visiting family in Reading for the day and I must say, this place did not disappoint. We were seated on the small cozy patio along the side of the building and immediately our server took our drink orders. She was very attentive and, given the number of tables she had that night, it amazes me she could keep orders straight - in her head! Our wine selections were just what each of us were looking for but the food was even more spectacular. We got a cheese plate (I would arguably say the best goat cheese I've had the pleasure of tasting), the duck skewers, and the goat cheese/prosciutto/spinach flat bread. My only complaint regarding the food was I thought there could be a better balance of goat cheese and prosciutto - the prosciutto seemed to over power every other flavour. Overall our date night was amazing. The atmosphere, wine and tapas selection, and all around service makes this tiny establishment a must do if you're in or passing through the Reading area.
