This place is located in the basement of the preachers son. Went here to mark live Jazz off our date night list and loved this speak easy. We love live music and enjoyed every second. The band was perfect for our date night bucket list. We had a drink called jealous lover 🤣 we don’t really drink but it was for the experience and it was the recommended drink. I actually enjoyed it. We did not try any food. We had reservations at Preachers son upstairs but canceled to have an outdoor dinner elsewhere. Preachers son is still on my list. The place has dim lighting for a whole mood. All in all a great experience 😊

Google
One of my favorite bars in Bentonville. Only reason for the 4 stars is because it's a bit pricey. Drinks are amazing, food fantastic, and the atmosphere is perfect in every way. Great service every time we are in. Absolutely love the Undercroft.

We were hoping to go to the rooftop bar but it was closed due to poor weather so we went to Undercroft instead. The space was cozy and service was fine but not overly attentive. We didn’t try any signature cocktails but they made a good Negroni.

Came to Undercroft during their holiday season and menu. The holiday decorations were absolutely out of control, in a good way! There was no surface untouched by holiday festivities. Amazing place to chill with friends during the holiday season. Perfect vibe. Tried the Yippy Ki Yay. Lovely little drink. Not quite as complex as I was expecting. But refreshing still. They’ve also got a few cute Christmas tiki mugs for sale!

Great atmosphere. The service is fine. I ordered one cocktail and the charcuterie board. The cheese was half still and hard as a brick and the other half was soft but it was basically served with sliced deli meat four toast points mustard and a pickle. My tab for that plus one drink was $56.00. I expected more. I don't usually review places poorly but this one definitely warranted that

This place is a must visit! The drinks are fantastic and come in fun glasses. Plus they were decorated for Christmas

Google
The decorations for Christmas were absolutely fantastic and the presentation of the drinks were so cute. The food was okay. We had a reservation and had an incredibly awkward encounter regarding our table. There seemed to be an issue about our table from what we could tell when we told them about our reservation at check in, but he said he was going to check on our table. When he returned, he asked us to follow him, in which we proceeded to stand there for about three minutes while he spoke with the people sitting at our supposed table. He left, with the people still sitting at our table, as we stood there with no explanation as to what was going on. A minute later the people left and we were able to sit, but the host never checked back in to let us know what exactly had occurred or to make sure we ever got our table. It was incredibly awkward. Our waiter however was very nice, attentive, and did a great job. He did spill a water that got on the table, floor, my shoes, and pants. He apologized profusely, which it was totally fine - accidents happen - but we did eventually have to go the bathroom to get paper towels and wipe up the water ourselves. Overall, it was a fun place to start an evening of my birthday celebration. I would definitely recommend stopping by to see the decorations and a quick drink, but the initial table situation and lack of explanation or concern for the issue makes me think I don’t really have to go back any time soon.

So this place was really really cool. The drinks were pretty expensive and tasted ok but the staff was super friendly and efficient. The place was jam packed and they made my drink super quick. The decor was amazing, you can really tell how much work they put into it! If they do a holiday theme again next christmas I’ll definitely be there!

Yelp
The ambiance of this "basement" is unmatched. We have gone countless times but enjoyed the jazz night the most! The drinks have always been up to par.

Yelp
One of the best cocktail bars in Bentonville. It's dark and moody, and the bartenders care about making the cocktails correctly. Drinks are inventive but they also serve classics. Love the ambience here. Always a great experience.

Yelp
Loved our experience here. Feel free to go off menu if you have a drink in mind that isn't available. A ton of liquor options. I went with bartenders choice, asking for my favorite bourbon, and they delivered. 12$ for a cocktail is also quite affordable. Seating was so intimate for two. A definite winner.

Yelp
The staff did an amazing job decorating the space for Christmas. The lights, trees, and other decor were outstanding. BUT too bad the service and attitude of the staff doesn't reflect the joy of the holiday season. The staff were downright rude in addition to being standoffish and inattentive.

Yelp
We FINALLY got a reservation at a decent hour to check out the Miracle pop up bar. It was so fun and festive ! We got there right on time and had to wait at the bar for a table. It wasn't too long (maybe 5-10 mins) though. There were only two of us so we got seated at one of the smaller tables with high back cushion chairs towards the front. It was fine for what we wanted which was just a drink, but if you had planned to order food it wouldn't have been great for eating. We could also feel the cold draft every time the door opened and it was freezing out so just know that ahead of time. Drinks were just okay, creative menu, service was good and the decor was wonderful. We did go a few days after Christmas but it was the only time we were able to get a reservation. Not sure if they usually do, but it seemed odd to have a dj playing random music in a Christmas pop up bar. Maybe after Christmas everyone was over the music but would have been fun to have some up beat Christmas tunes. The only other negative for me was the restroom. This may sound silly but it was like using the restroom when the power goes out, in the dark by small candlelight. I'm not sure why it was so darn dark in there but I actually had to use my phone flashlight to be able to see what I was doing. Other women made the same comment while we all struggled with it together. Overall it was an okay experience. The Christmas ambiance was what made it though. They really went with the theme (minus music) and it was done well!

Yelp
Love the Live Jazz every Tuesday night! Good people, great service & amazing music! Would recommend to anyone who loves a little hiatus from work or perhaps an evening drink/date!

Yelp
Grabbed pre dinner drinks at the Undercroft when in Bentonville. Although there is a place to make reservations online, it is first come, first served. We went on a Saturday night right when they opened, and we were the only ones there for about a half hour. A few more people trickled in, but it was not busy even when we left. The place is adorable! We had fantastic service. I had a spicy espresso martini and another spicy drink with tequila. The spicy espresso martini was fantastic and I would order it again in a heart beat. My husband ordered two old fashioned type cocktails and enjoyed them both. Definitely my favorite drinks while in Bentonville.

Yelp
Make sure you get a reservation at Christmas time! You may not be able to get it without one. The place is wonderfully decorated. Drinks are made perfectly! We tried the pimento cheese croquettes and they were good.

Yelp
I found this place initially through its restaurant upstairs (Preacher's Son) when going to the bathroom and noticing a noisy 'coat room'. I peeped inside and it was giving me such a speakeasy vibe. It's like walking into Please Don't Tell in NYC. Drinks: Best in town. While I didn't like my drink because of the excessive sesame oil, I had that drink a few days before in the restaurant and it was definitely more balanced. So there's a bit of inconsistency there. However, my friend's drinks were amazing and just what I needed after a long work day. They are more inventive with their drinks than other places in Bentonville so I think that warrants high praise. Price: The more expensive cocktails were around $14-16. This felt kind of high for Bentonville but I think it's definitely worth it. Ambiance: beautiful and very speakeasy interior. Candles dimly light the very darkened booths and tables. It's mostly moderately quiet except for the bach party that came through very drunk. I sensed this was not common. The chairs are comfortable and cozy. Perfect spot for a date! Food: they must share the same kitchen as the restaurant as they had some appetizers from the Preacher's Son - including the oysters which are SO good. We ordered the burrata which was nicely prepared and filling for 2 as an appetizer. Service: They are so nice and friendly! While their kitchen sadly closed at around 9 or 9:30pm, they still brought us food. Maybe they heard us saying we needed food to counteract all of our drinking. Either way, I love that they were attentive and flexible! Would I go again? For sure!

Yelp
A cozy and intimate speakeasy underneath The Preacher's Son. I ordered the Good Vs Evil and it was a treat! It wasn't too sweet, which I liked. When I asked while ordering, the server mentioned they can alter the sweetness. I also ordered the East of Eden, which was also really good and I'd recommend for anyone a fan of sesame oil. You can enjoy drinks here while waiting for your table at The Preacher's Son. You'll just need to close out before going to the restaurant. The hostess easily found us when we were up next to be seated.

Yelp
Quiet and beautiful speakeasy in Bentonville... Located under "The Preacher Son" restaurant. Each time I visit I am never disappointed in the atmosphere or the drinks. The talented live musician was also an added surprise.

Yelp
This was one of the coolest bars that I came to in Bentonville. It was an old church that was converted into a restaurant upstairs that's called the preacher son and downstairs was this bar. We came the night before but it was so packed that we couldn't get seats so we ended up coming back the next day just to check it out. The drinks are a little expensive and I didn't think that they were the best tasting ones that I've had however the experience and ambiance in this place was well worth stopping by. this drink was called summers night I found it to be a little bit more on the sweeter side which after reading the description makes sense why I thought it be a little bit more subtle. I also didn't find that the alcohol content was on the higher end compared to most American pours.

Gina N.

Yelp
The atmosphere was cool. Everyone kept telling me I had to check this place out. I ordered a skinny margarita with casamigos. Tasted like lime juice and cost a WHOPPING $27. I was very confused- I kindly asked if this was correct and the bartender assured me it was. I used to live in NYC and even this price knocked me over a bit- most cocktails were $14, I could see a bit of an in charge for casamigos but sheesh! My husband ordered whiskey sours with basil Hayden and his cocktails were $15.

Yelp
Undercroft has a vibe unlike any other place I can think of in Bentonville. As many reviewers have noted, you enter Undercroft either by heading downstairs outside before you enter Preacher's Son, or if you're in the restaurant, head down to the restrooms and enter through the "coat closet" (seriously, it's a speak easy after all!). You can order food from the Preacher's Son menu, so if you're unable to snag a seat upstairs, you can try your luck downstairs. The staff isn't in your face (which allows ample time to linger in the dark space), but are pretty easy to track down. The menu ranges from your standard cocktails to more craft offerings, alongside a good wine and beer selection. A fun addition to the Bentonville scene!

Yelp
We used to love this place but the past several visits the service has declined dramatically. It used to feel special for a night out but lately I've witnessed other patrons throwing up in the bathroom sink and no staff available to refill drinks or waters, even when there are less than 10 people in the entire place. Sadly, a past favorite has turned into a do not return situation since there are so many other great places in this area. Do not recommend.

Yelp
This is for their Tiki pop up. Excellent design and implementation for the bar! It hit all the boxes in design! The servers were really nice. They had just crap rock music playing which was horrible for the tiki theme but then they had a jazz band who KILLED IT. The biggest miss were the drinks. They all tasted...rushed and not blended well. All of them were just not quite at the level as many other places I've tried. The entire experience, once the jazz band started, was amazing. And major kudos to the design team, they killed it! If this was a Tiki Bar forever, I'd definitely be back.

Yelp
Sad about Undercroft- it has definitely gone down hill on service. Went by yesterday at 5:15. Didn't have a reservation for A table but was gonna get a quick drink at the bar with my brother in town. The hostess said there was a capacity limit at the bar. There were 3 people- 3 people standing at the bar. A lot of open reserved tables as well. Went a few weeks ago on a Saturday for a reservation and it was surprisingly dead then too. They are missing out on a lot of profit opportunity this year.

Yelp
As much as I would love to provide a great review to help local businesses, it is important to also call out when the needs improvement. I totally understand businesses are trying to get more employees to assist and hire more people so workers may be overwhelmed but that doesn't mean you take that on people that are trying to patronize local businesses to ensure that they stay in business. I have been here before and had a great experience so I recommend this place to people. Last night I went there with a group of people after dining upstairs and our experience was not pleasant. We walked in and found a seat in one of the areas. I greeted one of the employees and after we sat down we thought we would get someone to assist. Nobody came to where we were sitting but all other tables were being serviced. We watched on for over 20 minutes with no service. We came there to celebrate a friend but our spirits were dampened when we were told our table will not be serviced and we will need to come to the bar for our orders. How does that make a patron feel when all other tables are being serviced? I won't make this a race thing but a customer service issue that needs to be addressed. Another bar was glad to have us in their premise. I'm disappointed in how this place decided to treat us last night it tells us our dollars are not needed. Please provide training to the people working to ensure they understand how to relate to customers.

Yelp
I love a good speakeasy. This one, situated under the delicious restaurant Preachers Son, is no different. The atmosphere had a great vibe. The wait staff and bartenders were great. It was very crowded this night, and the staff was busting their tails to get people their drinks in a timely fashion. The drinks were delicious. The only negative was the lack of seating. As I mentioned, it was crowded this night, so seating was very limited. There's not much more seating they could add due to the size of the place. We went two years ago on a less busy night and it was very relaxing. Overall this is a great spot to go for drinks!

Yelp
This place rocks. It is one of the coolest hangouts in Bentonville. The atmosphere is like a dark, trendy basement. Such a neat vibe. And the happy hour drink prices last all night (at least ours did - ha). I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Nice little pseudo speakeasy bar under Preacher's Son. I say pseudo because nobody gave me a talking to for being on my phone while sitting at the bar (being on one's phone at a bar is Lamesville, but this was my first time alone at a bar since before the pandemic and wrapping up some work tasks on my device made me feel less self conscious!). Nothing on the menu fit what what I usually drink (rum or tequila, tropical juice, not heavy on the alcohol) so they suggested an off-menu mojito with pineapple juice... Delicious! I watched the staff interact with each other and the customers, and they were all terrific.

Yelp
Not a good experience for date night drinks at the Undercroft during the Oasis pop up. After we were seated someone from management came to our table to ask if we were seated because we had reservations... (Yes) We did not have servers check on us and had to flag someone - anyone - down to order our first and second rounds of drinks. After an hour the bar manager came to our booth to inform me he had more reservations coming and we were going to need to wrap it up. As a couple we ordered four drinks, so it wasn't like we were taking up space without adding value. It's disappointing for a bar in Northwest Arkansas to demonstrate to customers that they're not valued, how you might experience in a meto city. We had reservations for a group of six next week and have cancelled. It's not worth interrupting plans or drinks to be rushed out of your seats so more people can be ushered in.

Yelp
We have been to this spot multiple times. Last night was got adventurous and tried new food and drinks. Live jazz is always a pleasure too! The bartender (wished I grabbed her name) was awesome. She has skills. The old fashion was great as well as the bartenders choice she made with Gin. We tried for food the bone marrow and mussels! Both were pretty darn amazing and would eat again today!

Yelp
This was a very disappointing visit. First off, we have come for Christmas for a couple of years and have had a nice time. Tonight was completely different. We had reservations and when we arrived was told we had a 10 minute wait, which was fine. Finally we were sat and then 5 minutes later we were asked to give up our seats because the area was promised to other people. We stood at the end of the bar as they cleaned another table, thinking it was ours so we sat (our reservation said a high top and this was one). Someone different then came and questioned us sitting there. We explained we were already sat and then asked to move. She went to check and came back 5-10 min later and said it was ok, like she was doing us a favor. She said they were without a hostess but the treatment we received was terrible. As for the drinks, they are seriously way over alcoholic. And the server's description didn't even come close to what she said one would taste like. Such a disappointing night. Way overpriced drinks and none of us finished them and they were definitely not even generous amounts. We had planned to order food but unfortunately the menu online was different than what we were offered so wasn't worth getting anything. We literally stopped for food on the way home to get the taste out of our mouths. Sadly this will be a hard pass next year which we had hoped would continue to be a yearly event for the family.

Yelp
Like a Chicago or NY Speakeasy. Dark, great bar. Interesting cocktails. Under the Preacher's Son restaurant.

Yelp
Had an instance of racism tonight. Fiancé was identified as being over-served despite being fine. Her and I have been very upset by the situation. I have tried to pinpoint a "why". It comes down to one thing, racism. Plain and simple. I just don't understand why this still happens but it did. I wish I would have stood up for her, but instead I encouraged her to leave so we could avoid a scene. Definitely regret not pushing back as she is very upset by the obvious mistreatment. Bentonville, we need better.
google avatar

Yelp
We love the speak easy atmosphere. Great drinks--we've never tried anything we've disliked. The Old Fashioned is one of our favorites. Highly recommend to visitors and locals alike! For some added fun go through Preacher's Son "coat closet"

Yelp
Down the stairs from outdoors, I walked into this basement bar and immediately appreciated the ambiance this bar had. Dim lighting, comfortable seating and decor made me feel chill versus the bright light restaurant upstairs. It's quite intimate. My friend and I sat at the bar, mainly because we were the first customers when they opened at 5pm sharp. The bartender was very attentive and informative about their specialty cocktails assuring us that if we ordered something we did not like, he would get us something else. I had the Fall Dram, which I assume is a seasonal drink. It is served cold. It I could also see drinking this hot from a mug. A spice cocktail almost like spiced apple cider, but not. We were able to order food, off the upstairs restaurants full menu (Preachers Son). I enjoyed the mushrooms-sautéed served with ricotta and bread. My friend had the roasted cauliflower-huge dish. Both considered shareables. I did not experience poor service like some posted. Our service was top notch even as they got full as the night went on.

Yelp
What an awesome find in the NWA area! We were looking for a good and trendy local bar to have drinks before dinner and I'm glad we came here. It has a speak easy vibe which I always love, and I loved how chill and laid back it was. We were there on a Saturday at 6:30 and it was not crowded at all! We were shocked! Definitely enjoyed the experience and would go back.

Yelp
A cute little bar underneath the preachers son. Entrance door is down the staircase to the left of the restaurant's main door. Yummy drinks & frequent pop up themes. Cons: it was so cold!! Bring a jacket. Dark and romantic vibe for a date.

John S.

Yelp
Small bar under Preacher's Son with a very cool vibe. Servers have always been very friendly. They have live music Tuesday - Thursday. We went on Wednesday and the singer (Randall Shreve) was fantastic. Bar is small so getting a seat during busy times can be a challenge, but no issues on weekdays.
google avatar

Emily Z.

Yelp
A great spot for drinks and the bartenders were really nice and knowledgeable. It would be a great spot to bring out-of-towners (they would be impressed and surprised that a place like this exists in NWA-haha)!

Yelp
Went there on a Monday night and saw a fantastic jazz band named the Forte Quintet. Amazing atmosphere. Chicken meatballs with marinara was delicious as was the orange marscapone dessert. A must to visit.

Yelp
I surprised my boyfriend for our 7 month anniversary tonight and let's just say he was speechless This place is spectacular!!! I would recommend this upscale bar anyday!!! Outstanding service!!!

Yelp
This place is so cool! Hidden underneath Preachers Son. Great service and drinks, plus a great selection of high quality and unique drinks. Pretty pricey, but worth the ambiance and drink quality. We'll definitely be going back! Just make sure to get there earlier in the evening to make sure you get a seat. It fills up fast and is a pretty small space, so there isn't a ton of seating.
google avatar

Lara H.

Yelp
The ambiance was great and our server/bartender was great. We ordered both on the menu and asked for things off the menu and all were great. We were even able to order food from upstairs.

Yelp
Every time we are here is a great experience. Top knot has drinks, stellar atmosphere, and personable staff. Definitely looking forward to our next visit.

Yelp
DO NOT ORDER BLOCK NINE Red Nine. Some bartenders with a pony tail and an attitude clearly have no idea what he is doing. It taste awful. Do yourself a favor and ask for another bartender that might know what you what and does not have an attitude about flavors or taste. It's a common question and clearly he does not know what he is talking about. The ambiance is nice, but don't let him ruin it. Get a person who knows drinks. Ruin my taste. Avoid this man

Allie S.

Yelp
I'm so glad this bar is still open with Covid-19 precautions! We got there around 8:15 and stayed for probably an hour or so. We loved having drinks here after dinner! Our bartender, Josiah, was able to make some great recommendations. We sat at the bar and it was really fun to watch them prepare drinks. It was a lively environment & we will definitely return. It was not crowded when we arrived but was packed when we left around 9:30. It was definitely crowded and when we left the bar was more packed than I thought appropriate in a pandemic. There were far more people than there were chairs, and once you have your drink you can remove your mask. So everyone was mask-less, which was a bit unsettling. We would definitely return once the pandemic is over, or not stay at late!

Yelp
Undercroft is the name of the bar underneath The Preacher's Son Restaurant here in Bentonville. It's themed as a speakeasy, but really, it's a classic New York style bar right here in Arkansas. The ambiance is muted, with lowered lighting and modern background sound which makes is a very nice personal (intimate) experience. The alcohol selection is good, and caters to the more experienced palette. Yes, you can find your rum and coke here, but you can also get a deliciously customized Manhattan, Old Fashioned, or any of two dozen specialty drinks. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. At times, it does get *very busy*, so cut the keeps some slack if they are a bit delayed. You will get served in a professional, friendly manner. It's not a sports bar!!! There are *NO TVs*! If you want to watch "the game", go somewhere else. But if you want to have a delightful conversation with your peeps, this is the best place to have it; either downstairs, or up on the terrace in the spring/summer/early fall. Highly recommended. Jim B.

Yelp
Hard to find. Crowded. Slow wait staff. Very low lighting. Zip for entertainment. What else should you say.

Autume B.

Yelp
Some friends and I went there tonight to celebrate one of them getting accepted into his doctorate program. I assume my crowd had too many black people for the staff because we were there for about 20 minutes and no one served us, yet we saw 3 other tables around us continuously getting service. Finally, I walked up to 3 workers, 2 of which were just standing there talking, to ask for if a waiter could serve us. One made eye contact with me as i was walking toward them and immediately walked away. I said hello to the waiter at the register and I asked if my friends and I could get service and he proceeds to tell me no because the bar is self serve tonight and they don't have enough waiters on staff to accommodate us; yet they had been serving other tables around us since we walked in. My friends and I were very disappointed and felt discriminated against as we were the only black people in the bar. We left to go to a bar nearby that would accept us, Dive Bar. I used to always suggest undercroft to people, but now, I won't be going back again nor will I be suggesting it to others.

Yelp
My first impression is darkness, a heavy but not unpleasant darkness that makes everything seem quieter than it is. Rather than hiding something, the gloom seems keen to expose it. What little light there is brings out of the shadows a dozen glinting textures: metallic threads in the upholstery, shimmering accents on the black wallpaper, a glitter-encrusted skull on display. Narrow spotlights accent segments of the long, low room, creating personal oases so that each table becomes an intimate sanctuary. Long wallbenches accommodate large groups of after-hours drinkers as well as couples and trios; the squat portable stools making it easy for more to join in. In the middle of the room are curious chairs with arms as high as their backs, one facing another down the line like a row of intimate cubicles. Here is another attempt at privacy: the three tall sides of each chair blocking out everything but the person sitting directly across the candlelit table. The bar is golden and glowing, the center of the action that manages never to overpower the darker corners. Cocktail waitresses float to and from it, friendly and faceless, serving the thirsty 5:30 crowd. As I am notoriously indecisive even at familiar restaurants, it takes three visits from the waitress before I make up my mind. Then my drink of choice is not on tap, and I have to scramble. Thankfully, she has a recommendation on her sleeve, and I order in a breathless rush, happy to finally resolve the matter. When the pale pink confection arrives in its martini glass, I feel the halo effect of pure sophistication. The drink tastes bright and sparkly, and the fruit juices and orange liqueur play over my tongue. I'm drinking in sounds with the liquor. Like the sharp top notes of an urban perfume, I hear the sharp sound of the exuberant bartender rattling a shaker above his head. The heart notes come with the music, warm and thrumming, easy to talk over but filling in silent gaps with ease. The background hum of conversation lays the base note, steady and comforting. Time passes without a thought in this underground room. When I've paid my tab and poke my head out at the top of the stair, I'm surprised to find that it's already late evening, and the downtown is bustling with nightlife. Down below me, the congenial humming continues unbroken; it will carry on until the wee hours of Saturday morning. As for me, I've had my taste of elegant society, and it's time to get home to my dinner.

Yelp
Undercroft is a well-decorated prohibition speakeasy feel with sweet and attentive bartenders as well as delicious drinks! Such a cool spot!

Thank you for the friendly and attentive staff, great cocktails, and chill atmosphere. Keep it up!

Yelp
Excellent atmosphere and drinks! Gets a little crowded though. Go early to get a seat other wise it's standing room only.

Yelp
This place has turned into a joke. I have been there three times in last couple of months and the same waitress was miserable and rude each time. We even had to ask the male bartender to wait on us instead. My group of friends and I shall remain upstairs in the Preachers son and enjoy the lovely bar there! Old reviews about Undercroft may have been accurate but sadly not anymore. Snail paced and rude service combined with the very loud music and weird lighting makes for worst ambience imaginable. STAY UPSTAIRS!

Yelp
The good - It is a good place to go after 11pm since it is open until 2am, and there are not many options in Bentonville late where it still has some class and higher energy, yet you do not feel like you are surrounded by hipsters. Barstaff friendly which made it worth the wait for drinks. The not so good - They are advertised an an "intimate lounge". Maybe that is the effect they were going for, that would be inaccurate, because it is packed in there! The only thing intimate is it is very dark. Also, my boyfriend was not too happy they put round resale type stickers on his titanium card in the middle that had to be scratched off. They took it off before we got it back, but why?! We just got the drinks and got the card back immediately the second visit.
