Best Ice Cream Shops in Montreal | Eater Montreal

"Soft serve is the focus at this Plateau parlour. Beyond the vanilla and chocolate staples, flavours are inspired by desserts from around the globe. In the past, they’ve included everything from New York cheesecake to prekmurska gibanica (a layered Slovenian pastry)." - Valerie Silva

Google
Tried out Unicone Artiste Glacier for dessert. They have ice cream, soft serve, sundaes and cookies. 16 flavours and you can sample up to two. Soft serve was $6.50, ice cream was $5.70 (1 scoop), $7.99 (2 scoops) or $9.50 (3 scoops). - Deux fois plus de fun ($6.99) - opted for the small scoop (mango sticky rice) and soft serve (datte fleur d'oranger amandes and abricot, mandarine et pomme). Good texture and flavour in the mango sticky rice. Didn't love the soft serve. The cheap cone was an odd choice

We tried several different flavors at Unicone, and it was such a fun experience! 🍦✨🥳 They have a unique collection of signature ice creams inspired by different countries, which makes it feel like a little world tour of flavors 🍦🌎😋 I got the soft ice cream, a mix of gram masala and guava — an unexpected combo that turned out to be absolutely delicious🍦😋😍 As a Persian, I got really excited to see Bastani among their flavors — such a nostalgic and thoughtful touch! 🍦🤩😊 The staff were super friendly and patient, taking the time to explain each flavor and let us sample a few. You can tell they put real creativity and passion into everything they make 🍦💖 Definitely worth a visit if you love trying unique and adventurous desserts! 🍦✨🥳 forgot to mention the super friendly staff

Google
My go-to spot for ice cream in Montreal! 🍦 They offer a wide variety of flavours, and there’s always something new to try so it never gets boring. The ice cream itself isn’t overly sweet—it’s perfectly balanced and always hits the spot. Their cookies (especially the pistachio ones!) are absolutely to die for. On top of that, the staff is super welcoming and the shop is always spotless. Highly recommend checking them out!

Google
Unicone is a must-visit for ice cream lovers! Everything is 100% homemade and you can really taste the difference. It’s rich, creamy, and packed with high-quality ingredients. The baklava ice cream was a standout, sweet, nutty, and perfectly made. We also loved the guava papaya twist cone, which was super refreshing and full of tropical flavor. So good I went back for a second. The place was packed when we went, but the line moved fast and the staff kept things flowing smoothly. Even if you have to wait a bit, it’s so worth it. The flavors are creative, bold, and really well executed. Can’t wait to go back and try more!

We visited Unicone Ice Cream and tried the baklava sundae—it was amazing! They offer a wide variety of flavors, and the ones we sampled were all delicious. The staff was super friendly, and the shop itself is beautifully decorated. A great spot for a sweet treat!

Google
We tried the vanilla pistachio and qamarelddine flavors—both were absolutely delicious! This is one of the best ice cream spots we've been to. The place itself is charming, with a warm atmosphere and stylish decor that adds to the experience. Highly recommended!

Google
Amazing experience! This place is one of the best ice cream places in Montreal and I love how they bring ice cream from different cultures together. Their cookies are the best as well. A must to go❤️👌🏼

Google
The ice cream is absolutely delicious and light with a wide choice of enticing flavours. It tastes like it was freshly homemade. I had the saffron, pistacchio and orange flower scoops. Beautiful place worth discovering with its own, unique atmosphere. Thank you!

Yelp

Yelp
Very nice stop for frozen treats and Unicone has an especially nice selection of vegan options including a mango sticky rice ice cream. They had some vegan baked goods too! While I have had better ice cream from other artisan shops, I did really enjoy their unique Le Sultan dessert. With a Turkish style floss base and two flavors of ice cream (Baklava and Fleur d'Orange), this was a nice change of pace from the norm. The place had spacious seating (though only a few tables) that is bright and comfortable. Service was friendly and fast!

Yelp
An adorable ice cream shop with homemade flavors that super unique. There's a Mediterranean flare to most of them using spices like cardamom and honey or rose water and cinnamon. I wish I could've tried them all. I got to sample the Baklava which had a lot of pistachios in it. Then we got two scoops to share - mango sticky rice and an orange blossom dates and honey. Definitely loved the dates ice cream flavor more, it was light and refreshing. Not super sweet. Just lovely. The mango sticky rice was a very thick consistency similar to the glutinous rice it's based off of but a bit too heavy for me. Very true to the original taste though! The staff was very friendly and the cafe was clean and well decorated.

Yelp
Scrumptious pistachio orange blossom soft serve!!! Only flavour notes I would have preferred without the kunafeh. Very friendly service. In terms of atmosphere either the heating was left on, or the ac was broken. We got out of there right quick. Dream scenario more seating outside, and or normal temp inside. Loved loved the ice cream (minus the topping).

Yelp
They have unique kind of ice creams and they keep changing the menu. I felt it was quite an innovative collection. The place is nicely decorated and gives good vibes. There purple yam and baklava collections were good. We have to have a good appetite for ice creams to visit the place as the portions are large.

Yelp
Adorable shop with unique, delicious flavors and a friendly staff. Came here for some afternoon treats on a hot day and had a hard time picking out our flavors as there were so many delicious options! Ended up with a soft serve of cherry - vanilla twist in a cone, a scoop of saffron pistachio as well as dark chocolate and with raspberry. All of the flavors were really strongly flavored with real ingredients and were wonderfully creamy Bonus points for the adorable seating arrangements, with the pink cushions and cafe tables as well as the flower wall.

Yelp
TLDR: creative soft serve flavors in a cute spot The shop features rotating soft serve flavors. At the time each twist of soft serve had one flavor of ice cream and one flavor of sorbet. The combination makes for a great creamy yet refreshing treat. I ordered the pinacolada which was a combination of coconut ice cream and pineapple sorbet. The coconut was milky but carried a distinct fruity flavor while the pineapple was cool and sharply flavored. The shop is brightly decorated and a fitting space to enjoy the creative desserts.

Yelp
I'm always on a quest to find the best vegan ice cream, i have tasted some amazing ones and i could stop there but why would I? So many places to be discovered.... Today I tried Unicone, i was going to have the pina colada but the machine ran out at my cone. I did try it from my boyfriend's cone it, was delicious but was forced to try something even more decadent. Loukoum ice cream... strawberry, rose water ice cream with pieces of loukoum.... Oh my.... My second favorite vegan ice cream so far, so unexpectedly delicious. They have international uncommon flavors that are worth discovering!!!

Yelp
Very yummy ice cream with unique flavors. The passion fruit and speculoos were amazing! The Jalebi was tasty but a little grainy. Service was great!

Yelp
I brought my family of 4 here this weekend. I didn't have a good experience here. The ice cream was slightly above average that gets appeal based on unique flavors that are hit or miss. I'd give it 3.5 maybe 4 for ice cream. The service was bad. It started with a very slow moving line. I can get by that if everything else is fine. We do not speak French so I get that part of that is on me for not speaking the local dialect. However one of the ladies behind the counter spoke English very well, the other struggled. The English speaking person served one cone to use, then handed everything off to the woman who only spoke French. We asked for two kid sized soft serve vanilla swirl cones for our small children. She said only one size, and held up a single finger. The size was large. Too large for soft serve so it was too heavy. It fell off after about 20 seconds of my 7 year old holding it. She also said they only had one flavor which was not what we asked for. I then later saw at least 5 other people with the other soft serve flavor that was in the menu. Then I saw several people with kid sized portions including one adult. We asked for a replacement cone and was also charged for that. Which if it were what we asked for I could have looked over. In general we were given bad information despite attempting to order what we saw in the menu and did not get what we asked for. The woman who was struggling to understand English could have looked to the other woman behind the counter who did speak English to make sure their customers got what they were ordering. Then they weren't giving by charging for a second cone. She could have recognized they gave too large a cone that was more likely to fall off for a child despite us asking for a small size. It was bad service. I cannot recommend this place.

Yelp
I heard about this place for so long and finally had a to try it. This week's soft serve flavor is dulce de leche with hibiscus and peach sorbet. The dulce de leche was really good and creamy. I didn't like as much the sorbet side. Also the dulce de leche really covered up most of the sorbet flavor. I would still go back to try their different colorful and exotic ice cream flavors.

Yelp
Velvety smooth, interestingly creative mix of very intense and accurate flavours, an instagramable flowery backdrop and a clever, funny neon sign fits right in with the top ice cream shops in Montreal - a great delicious treat for the dog days of summer.

Yelp
Best ice cream ever, the concept of associating flavours to countries is wonderful, the interior is very nice. Makes my girlfriend happy every time I take her there
