Unicorn Bake Shop is such an amazing place! Not only do they make amazing vegan desserts, but they are also very artistic. Our most recent order was for a frozen themed party, and they were perfect. Everyone loved them. Usually, kids eat the frosting and lose interest in the cupcake, but these were so delicious that they took their time to eat all the way down to the wrapper.

Chocolate chip cookies are pretty much my favorite thing in life, and the Unicorn’s was one of the best I’ve ever had. Without doubt it was the only one with a magical glimmer of gold pixie dust, which brought me infinite joy. Service was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. I left with a molasses cookie sample which was also delicious. Everything is vegan, with gluten-free options. Looking forward to my next visit!

Unicorn Bake Shop is that rarest of breed that truly represents the mythical creature that is their namesake. Every cupcake, every pie, every cake, every treat they make is the perfect example of the flavor it represents. We’ve been subscribed to their monthly cupcake club for over a year, and we have no plans of stopping. We received our 6 cupcakes today, and enjoyed a Turtle delight, and a simply sinful Key Lime. And everything is ethical, vegan, and some are even gluten free. And not only are they delicious, but they are also scrumptiously decorated and finished with edible glitter. They’re always magical, and not just fantasy. We have eaten treats from all over the world, but nothing haunts our dreams like the treasures from Unicorn Bake Shop.

Unicorn Bake Shop was an absolute HIT at our wedding! We ordered a custom cake from them about a month before our wedding. They were great about checking in with us, confirming design, and had the cake delivered to our venue on time. We ordered a cake that was vegan, soy free, and gluten free to accommodate all of our guests. After cutting the cake and having our guests try it out, we had multiple family members and friends tell us how amazing it was. My maid of honor even called me to ask more about it the next day! We’ll for sure be visiting and ordering from them again!

Edit: I had a lot of difficulty ordering delivery so I won't be doing that again. First review: Delicious baked goods! Loved the vegan cookie butter cupcake. The store was cute and though I did not enter and just ordered from the door the staff were friendly and taking proper safety precautions. Plus the smells were lovely! I'll have to go back to try a shake and a macaron.

Unicorn’s goodies are one of my favorite ways to make a friend (or myself) feel special! The flavor rotations are fun, and always delicious and adorable. I also appreciate a bakery having some gluten-free options. Highly recommend you stop by whether for one cupcake or a few dozen.

Just a truly talented team of bakers! The cake I ordered for my partner's birthday was not only absolutely stunning, it was completely delicious and completely perfect in every way. The whole process from ordering to pickup was smooth and everyone communicated clearly and well -- truly, a dream all around! I don't think I'd ever order a cake anywhere else!

Ordered a mini cake for my daughter's 2nd birthday. She has a dairy allergy so we went ahead and ordered a vegan mini cake. With minimal instruction from me they executed the most perfect cake. I told them she liked animal print and to include monsteras and they absolutely delivered! staff messaged me about an hour before they closed as a gentle reminder to get the cake before they shut down for the day. it tasted great and my little babe gobbled it right up. thank you!

Magical land of vegan cupcakes and treats. As soon as you walk into Unicorn Bake Shop, you feel like you've been transported over the rainbow! I was immediately greeted with a smile and a sense that I was in a place that cared about people. LGBTQ + safe & friendly! I got the cherry cupcake. I don't even like cherry that much but it looked so cute. So glad I got it because WOW it was honestly the best cupcake I've ever had. Cheers to this place, if you're in the Portland Oregon area I highly recommend.

Umm I don't get it? Why is the place rated so highly? I mean the unicorn, glitter, rainbow vibe is cute but...the place was a total mess. Leaving me wondering how hygienic things are there. I ordered the vanilla strawberry cupcake. The frosting was delicious but the cake part tasted HEAVILY of baking soda and had a very claggy texture. Not good. The service was okay... Sadly, I would not recommend it.

The aesthetic of everything is spot on and super cute. Unfortunately everything I've had here is dry and all I taste is heavy amounts of food dye.

I ordered a custom cake to be delivered for my sister's birthday. I'm from out of town and didn't know what to expect. I gave minimal direction for the cake and it turned out better than I could've imagined. We had a a pineapple theme and told them she was celebrating her birthday and her bachelorette in the same weekend, so the cake was a perfect fusion of it all. Not to mention the cake was moist and made everyone want a second slice. The buttercream frosting wasn't too sweet either. It was everything we hoped for and more!

I am absolutely in love with Unicorn Bake Shop! Every treat I got at this place is absolutely out of this world. I don't come here often, but I know I can expect a delicious treat and friendly service from these awesome folks. I have ordered a few custom unicorn cakes since this place has been opened and I appreciate that they are willing to offer a vegan alternative for some of my friends who follow this lifestyle. My new favorite are the mini unicorn cakes, I will attempt to add a photo eventually when I can. The mini cakes are the perfect size for one hungry person or three normal appetites. Seeing the little unicorn smile just makes my day.

The staff here is super friendly and welcoming and the cupcakes are delicious! I bought a box of six for my coworkers and they loved them. The cupcakes come in so many different options and they're so sweet, moist, and (most importantly??) beautifully decorated haha. Although they're a bit more sweet than I would like them, that's not on the bakery at all and I would definitely buy again for another occasion.

Ordered two mini-cakes to celebrate my partner and my birthday! HOW CUTE ARE THEY?! One was funfetti, the other vegan vanilla. My only wish was these mini-cakes were sliiightly cheaper. At $20/$25 these are definitely a special-occasion-only treat. The good news is Unicorn Bake Shop has an assortment of options: cookies, cake by the slice, macaroons, cupcakes, brownies, etc. I requested a change by email right after I ordered and the staff made it happen. Good customer service! If you need a sweet happy treat, give them a taste!

Tried Unicorn Bake Shop for the first time. I had the Red Velvet gluten free cupcake which was pretty good. The cake part was a little gluey (typical in GF baked goods usually) but tasted good and was not too sweet. The cream cheese frosting was delicious but a little on the sweet side for me. I'm trying to cut down on the sugar! Service was excellent, friendly and helpful. And it was open till 4pm which is perfect as most places close at 2pm. It's located in a very cute neighborhood-y area on Gladstone. Although they don't serve coffee, the cute place next door does, happy to support two small businesses! Overall very nice vegan and GF dessert options. I'll definitely be back to try other offerings.

For the first time ever my wife requested something for her birthday. A cheesecake! She loves cheesecake so I knew I wanted to find the tastiest cheesecake possible. I try to be socially conscious, so I set out to find a bakery that aligned with my values. I would always rather give my money to a local shop than a big corporation. When I found Unicorn, I was very excited but a little concerned because I saw mostly examples of cakes, cupcakes, cookies. I put in a request/question via their website asking if they made cheesecake and Carrie got back to me that evening and asked me about size and how many people would I be serving. I decided on an 8" plain cheesecake for $35. I thought we might discuss a little more about design or colors and style but I didn't want to press if it meant the price would shoot up a lot or it might delay the pickup date. When I arrived to the shop to pick it up, the person who greeted me was friendly and boxed it up for me. They are still closed inside because of Covid, so I waited outside. When I took a look at it, I noticed that it looked like maybe they had misspelled her name and wiped the icing and tried again. They used a lowercase for her name, no big deal just a little strange. I was so curious to see how it would taste... I am so bummed to say, it was not too good. I wanted so much to hit a home run on this and it fell really flat. There was not a whole lot of flavor to it and the consistency was almost like a dense cold quiche jello. It was not the creamy smooth sweet that I've tasted in almost all cheesecakes I've had in my life. It tasted a little sour and the crust was hard and bland. I'm so disappointed. My wife tried to play is off as, "it just taste a little more on the home made side" (bless her heart). But needless to say, I could not make it to bite 3. We ended up throwing away a nearly whole cheesecake. I really want to support this shop but unfortunately I will be going to Trader Joe's or Cheesecake Factory for my cheesecakes in the future. I think that Unicorn probably IS amazing when it comes to their cakes and cookies but unfortunately they missed the mark on this cheesecake.

This is the lovely message I received from the business owner after a complaint that they left an unsecured box of a dozen cupcakes on the ground outside after nobody answered the door. The cupcakes were half eaten by squirrels before we found them. It was a surprise gift from my sister and a phone call when they realized no one was home would have gone a long way! There was also no message sent to the person who placed the order once delivered as claimed. While contactless delivery might have been a considerate option to provide people during the pandemic, using it now as an excuse for not needing to confirm receipt after someone has paid a $7 delivery fee is careless. The bad customer service that followed might make you think twice about ordering from here. My message: "My sister has ordered from you several times. With high quality food comes high quality customer service and I would expect better than this. Your lack of care and consideration is extremely disappointing in this situation. Clearly you don't need her business." Carrie's response: "You're correct that we neither need nor want any business from customers with your attitude. Have the day you deserve."

A while ago I have made an custom cake online and it's for my daughter's birthday. They did everything perfect as I requested and the cake is so tasty! Definitely will order again here for my next child's birthday.

I bought a dozen cupcakes to supplement the non-vegan non-gf cake I had ordered elsewhere for a birthday party. It was super easy to order online and I was surprised to see they had free delivery. The delivery arrived on the right day at the right time. They were beautiful and held up great until the next day. I didn't get to eat one because they were snatched up but everyone said they were really good so I'll order again when I have GF/ vegan guests.

Unicorn bake shop is awesome! Staff is friendly and welcoming. LGBTQIA++ positive place.The cupcakes are so delicious. Moist and full of flavor. I had the chocolate strawberry cupcake and loved it. There's a little strawberry filling in it. I also had the gluten-free mocha cupcake. I couldn't tell it was gluten-free. It was very good. My favorite was the chocolate strawberry. They have many other flavors.

I ordered a custom cake for $125 that would be decorated in three sections: one for a recent wedding, one for someone who just bought a house, and someone who is moving to Italy. I asked to see a drawing of the design and they told me they didn't do that because their staff "was a bunch of chaotic creatives and they like the extra time to work on the design last minute." This is what they came up with. I repeat, I paid $125 for this. NOTE: Based on the owner's response, I would have happily gone with another bakery if this was the best their creatives could come up with. I would have also welcomed a chance to review ideas with them if they ever got back to me, or didn't dismiss me when I called to ask about it. Again, $125 for this.

So happy with my order and takeout service from Unicorn Bake Shop this weekend! Cashed in a Give!Guide voucher for a batch of cupcakes (the flavors this month included Lucky Leprechaun, Snowball, gluten-free Salted Caramel Latte and Key Lime Pie, and vegan Grape Ape and PB Cup) and I also added on a brown butter toffee bar and half a dozen cookies. Online order process was easy, and it was no problem to designate a pickup time, make special requests. I got texts letting me know that my order was received and when it was ready (ahead of schedule even) and as promised things were all set to go when I got there. Trying to pace myself/my pancreas and favorites so far have been the salted caramel cupcake, the toffee bar, and the PB cookie but can't go wrong with any of the cake+frosting bite combos! I am way way over on the westside and wish we were closer, although I'd risk developing a dangerous(ly tasty) habit if that were the case..! I would absolutely consider stopping in next time I'm in the area and once things are open again; my kid would certainly flip out over all the rainbow and unicorn decor.

I'm sorry but I am very disappointed in the service and professionalism of this company. I called a week prior to putting in a cupcake order for my daughters birthday to make sure everything was okay and was told to make an online order so I did. I even emailed and had correspondence with someone at the bakery telling me that it was okay to put my order in but they end up calling me THE DAY BEFORE I was to pick up my order to tell me that it cannot be done. I was told that they left a voicemail 5 days ago on my phone (when no voicemail exists or even a missed call). And anyway, I was in email correspondence with them and nothing was said through email. So now I have to scramble to find another place to get cupcakes with one day notice. How is this professional? So disappointed. 2/11/2023 Hi Lani, you placed an order for the 18th and specified in the notes that you wanted it on an earlier date. So your first notice that we couldn't make your order for the day you wanted it was right there. You chose to go ahead and place the order for the 18th and when we called to advise you that we will not move an order backward in time, you chose to cancel and received a full refund. Hi Carrie, Maybe this whole thing was an issue of miscommunication. I thought I was clear from our email correspondence from your shop stating exactly my predicament that I wanted my order on Feb 11 or 12 and not the 18th and I confirmed through email with your shop and your shop stated that it was fine. So I went ahead and put in the order and paid online. The issue I have is that you waited until the DAY BEFORE I was to pick up my order to call and cancel with me. So again, I think this is very unprofessional to accept my order after clarifying through email with you then to only cancel the day before. I hope this leaves some extra clarification. Thank you.

I picked up a large order for an event and they were awesome! Super friendly and helpful, and the cupcakes were delicious. I'm impressed by how moist the gluten free ones were, and the decorations were flawless. I will definitely use them for my baked good needs in the future.

Daughter got a mini unicorn cake for her birthday. It was everything we (and she) hoped. Could even eat the frosting as it wasn't tooooo sweet.

I'm not vegan nor was I familiar with vegan baked goods, but this one takes the cake... .... cupcake? TRULY the lightest and airiest cupcakes I have had. And the depth and complexity of flavor in each cupcake is something to be noted. Apple pie cupcake was spiced to perfection and felt like a mouthful of elevated thanksgiving. I HATEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE frosting, especially when it's buttercream. It's thick and sludgey and I am very aware of the evil that is about to transpire when I eat it. The frosting on these cupcakes however, was smooth and silky. I could eat vats of it convinced I was doing good in the world. SO SO SO SO SO SO smooth. Pegasus bar. I want one every day. Very rich and chocolatey... you must throw this into your mouth if you haven't. I am not a person who likes a lot of sweets, but when I go this route... I am a bit of an elitist terror and can't be satisfied with anything. And these cupcakes brought me to my knees. Also.. to note. The folks here are so kind and helpful. Take your kids, partners, dogs, cats, neighbors here.. to eat here is to love thyself and thy neighbor. Yes. Yes. Yes. 1000 times YES!

We are very disappointed. Our order was for a custom single-tier 4" cake and the total was $70. Therefore, expectations were the shop would deliver something to match the price. We sent an inspiration photo (see attached) and what was delivered was poorly decorated - especially given the price for such a small cake. To top it all off, the sponge was sticky and collapsed, frosting excessively sweet, and the taste was terrible (one of the kids refused to eat it!). If the cake tasted good, we would've at least partially forgiven the decorations. We'll never return.

We were made to feel very welcome. Wife has some dietary restrictions which were not an issue at all. Questions were met with warmth and understanding.

These cupcakes are soooooo delicious and such a treat. I like to get gift certificates for folks for this shop and love supporting this business.

I am very excited that a cupcake shop had opened up nearby. When I crave sweets it's usually in small quantities as I usually have salt cravings, but when I do it's either a small piece of pie, a cake cookie or a lovely cupcake. When I went in a little while ago, they had safety measures put in that you either had to have an appointment or had called in an order. They were very accommodating and let me purchase a cupcake from their menu outside. I ordered the blueberry waffle cupcake as I was intrigued and had never had one flavored as such. It was delightful and exactly what I needed, a little dose of sunshine during such a crappy time. I am strange, and I usually have to scrape off most of the cupcake frosting and I didn't feel the need to with this cupcake. It was well balanced and not overly sweet (this is coming from a person with a salty tooth). A little piece of waffle topped with a blueberry and a delicious syrupy frosting. I usually crave one every few months! Definitely worth a stop in!

So happy to see the pop-up shop active there this moning!! We stopped immediately to sample the offered goods. Yummyyum! I bought two vanilla macaroons and an orange shortbread cookie; my son got the peanutbutter chocolate chip cookie. All three were magical! The shortbread had that delicious odor of citrus and the taste lingered in a great way in your mouth. The macaroons looked beautiful and the ganache inside was creamy. The staff was very kind and dressed unicorn-style: wayyyyy to rock those pink eye brows, gurl. I am looking forward to more of Carrie's baked goods to try when the shop really opens and she starts baking in her brandnew ovens, wooohee!

I ordered the August cupcake batch for delivery. They arrived within a few hrs hours (I ordered before noon). Each one was unique and delicious!! Some were vegan, some not, some gluten free, all frosted, some filled, all decorated adorably -- they offer a variety. My diet isn't restricted so I ordered the random batch. So fresh and delicious!!! Coconut lime, chocolate hazelnut, cinnamon cookie cream, vanilla, and peach balsamic -- they were all bomb. Even the latter....I was like BALSAMIC? It worked!! I have allergies to dye...didn't have a problem (that means they use quality ingredients. Thank you for existing and donating to social justice causes!!! I can't wait to try the milkshakes and other tasty treats -- esp the gooey butter cake.

Omgosh!! Super excited for amazing desserts and delivery!! Thank you for being available, making something that is absolutely delicious and super fast delivery! I'll hold off on eating them all before my hubby gets home!

I have ordered multiple cakes for my family and we love them! I am gluten free and dairy free so having custom cake options I can consume is amazing as well. I'll be ordering one for my birthday soon. I love supporting local businesses who are inclusive and welcoming to all in the community.

I was underwhelmed by the baked goods. They were pretty to look at, but not delicious. I'm spoiled by some other spots in town that are just much more...divine. We stopped by for a grand opening event and it was BUSY. Long line out the door, but they had a tarot card reader and a pony for the kids to meet so that was a nice touch. The 4 folks at the counter didn't seem to be very efficient at managing to take orders, pack them, charge for them, and collect money. It was pretty slow. Your store is cute though! I'm just kinda picky about my cupcakes and these were average to me.

Not only does this place ooze of creativity, fun and smiles; they also make this neighborhood so inviting to everyone. They are always thinking of creative ways to involve the community and keep everyone smiling. I get excited to see what their new monthly flavors will be. I've never once walked away disappointed with my product or customer service. The staff is all very cautious, safe and friendly. I love that you can order take home decorating kits or collaborate for special occasion cakes. Their delivery driver is so friendly and you can tell this must be a fun place to work. Their food is filled with love. Please support these sweet small businesses.

These people actually know how to make delicious sweets! There's places out there calling themselves bakeries but most don't really seem to know what they're doing. These folks actually understand what it takes to make moist, fluffy, tasty, well balanced deserts! Please, keep up the amazing work!

Delicious treats at this lovely shop! I discovered them through a Facebook post talking about their 'defund the police' cookies & immediately wanted to support their efforts in bringing awareness to police reform. I ordered some of their vegan options: Pegasus Bar, Cookies n Cream cupcake & a macaroon. I was pleasantly surprised with how yummy these were. You couldn't even tell they were vegan! 10/10 recommend

We found this little gem on a trip to Portland in September of 2021 and have visited a few times since. They have gluten free and vegan treats that are simply delicious! The staff is as sweet and delightful as the treats they make.

I came here on March 1, grand opening day of the entire building. There was an open house--you could go in the shops and even a couple of apartments upstairs. It's a lovely place. By the time I got to the bakery, it was mostly sold out. I bought delicious vegan cupcakes (4 different flavors with icing in bright colors) and a travel cup. They didn't yet have coffee and tea but probably do by now.

I'm not vegan or gluten free, but their V/GF Pegasus Bars (brownies) are quite possibly my new favorite sweet treat in Portland! The most beautifully soft, chocolatey, and delicious brownie I've had in recent memory. The staff are SO friendly and kind too. A magical experience all around

I love this place! I'm a huge fan of sweets and I truly love their vegan goods. Their cookie butter cupcake is my favorite- perfect cake and frosting textures, and not overly sweet. They also rotate their flavors each month which keeps it exciting. The online ordering system is super convenient, especially during covid. Staff is always very friendly, I am happy to have them in the neighborhood.

I work for the Forest Service and was on furlough during the government shutdown the past several weeks. Unicorn Bake Shop was one of the several generous businesses in Portland that offered free services to furloughed employees. I was ecstatic to hear this! My friend has a birthday coming up and I was visiting him in Tigard from Bend for the weekend to celebrate. I reached out to Carrie via email and she made a free custom 4-inch vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream and the Trailblazers logo. It was adorable and especially delicious. She delivered it in a timely manner and my friends and I loved it! Very grateful for compassionate companies such as this. Would definitely purchase a cake from her in the future. Thank you, Carrie!

I've been a regular customer of this cute bake shop, the first time I went here was with my friends and I fell in love with the delicious treats they offer. I can't believe how moist their vegan and gluten-free cupcakes. I've been to a lot of vegan/gluten-free bake shop and my common complaint was how dry the cupcakes but here at Unicorn bake shop the cupcakes stayed moist even it's a day old cause I always get their monthly cupcake sampler that has 6 cupcakes in the box and I usually have leftover to enjoy the next day or the day after. Last week I had a birthday party and I had their Unicorn gluten-free birthday cake and the monthly cupcake sampler for my guests and they all enjoyed it. Thank you Unicorn Bake Shop for making my birthday party awesome with all the vegan and gluten-free treats. You guys are now my go to special occasion desserts shop.

Hidden gem and so glad we found this place! Trying to find a gluten-free and vegan is so difficult, we found this gem on yelp after driving to Petunia's and seeing a limiting selection for birthday celebrations. The cupcakes were delicious! Our new go to for sure!

Was out shopping today with the small shops big hearts event with the kuto app and saw this place on the participating retailers and decided to stop by on my way home. I thought a unicorn themed bake shop sounded fun/magical/whimsical and was excited to try it. I was greeted by a guy yelling at me to put a mask on, which I have 0 issue with wearing a mask, or any business that chooses to require it, but the manner that I was talked to was definitely unfriendly. Then after I got a cupcake they told me they couldn't take payments on the app and didn't have the purchase code, which was my only reason that I chose to stop by, so that was a bummer. The decorations and parafernalia were also extremely political and not what I expected from this themed bake shop that had cute rainbow tables outside, even if I agree with some of the sentiments the whole experience left me feeling pretty confused and disappointed. On a good note though the cupcake was good, especially for being vegan.

I was at their door a few minutes before opening and was met by a negative and gruff woman. I came there looking for a cake, but they don't sell cakes. That's cool. But... She said we are not really open yet. I saw some cup cakes and I asked if they sell them. The woman behind the counter said yes. I said do you have any gluten free cupcakes decorated for different occasions and they said we don't decorate. It was tough getting them to sell me something. Finally pointed to some cupcakes and I got them. VERY poor customer service!! I felt unwelcome... I won't go back and encourage others to do the same. You might consider not opening your door until you are ready to serve people

So glad this bakery opened in our neighborhood! They did a great job on a custom cake that helped brighten up our kids' otherwise isolated COVID birthday party. We're also suckers for the breakfast treats: cinnamon rolls & conchas. Yum! The fact that they're donating in support of social justice is icing on the cake!

I ordered a custom birthday cake that was Gluten free, dairy free and nut free. I didn't realize I was ordering freaking amazing! I don't know what kind of magic is going on at UBS but it's the real deal! They just got a customer for life.

Finally! OMG because of all the fake reviews from lying haters around the country, I'm finally able to write my own REAL review....you know...considering that I actually LIVE HERE IN PORTLAND, OREGON...like in the *actual* CITY OF PORTLAND. PORTLAND PROPER! Those dishonest, FAKE reviews were a complete inconvenience to me, an *actual* customer of this business. My money, MY CHOICE. Anyway, I love Unicorn Bake Shop! I'm grateful they do delivery. Even though I live within walking distance from their shop, I opt for delivery. My favorite are their tiny little cakes. Note that these cakes are TINY. They say they serve 1-2 people but because of how rich they were, it worked out to four reasonable portions for my family. Not to be judgmental or anything towards people who eat a lot (because I'm one of those people myself!). I do wish they'd offer their milkshakes for delivery but I'm guessing because of the heat they cannot. I look forward to trying their vegan conchas (super rainbowy!) but they keep selling out before I can order them! Please keep your fingers crossed for me!

Omg so ooooooooo good. This is not a good news because I work 1 min drive from this dangerous place!!! Hahaha
