Google
Pretty solid farmer's market, a bit small, but it's got the essentials. Valencia oranges, organic jumbo eggs, etc. There is a seafood vendor here, but they leave around 11. The oysters are some good sized Olympias, fresh and alive. The scallops are wet though, so keep that in mind. Veggie-wise, the selection here leans towards Filipino cooking, but it'll suffice for most Asian cooking ingredients, though it will be 3x more expensive depending on what you get (ex. spring onions, cilantro, etc)

Barely any stalls, and they were out of EBT vouchers. Don't bother.

The Farmers Market is awesome! It's there every Saturday morning and it's ends at 1am. The produce is amazing there and some stands give out samples, which are always very tasty. It's also in a park, so while you look around, your kids can go and play

Google
Good selection of seasonal fruits and veggies. Great prices and healthy food. Sometimes crowded but you can always find street parking. Small size means you will be out in 20-30 minutes max. Every Saturday morning.

Joe Teng

Google
Much smaller selection than the New Park Mall one, but great live band and it's at a park (with 2 sand playgrounds and swing) so if you have kids and you have another adult with you, then the kids can play while the other adult shops. Really enjoyed it today!

Very small farmers market, hardly 4-5 vendors

Google
It's a great little farmers market. The food is fresh and the sellers are friendly. There is a lot of amazing shade. What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday morning.

I haven't seen much of vegetable and fruit selections. I usually go to the filipino food stand in this market. Food is delicious however, it's kind of pricey.

Yelp
Very decent Farmer's market. Location: Old Alvarado Park, only on Saturdays. Fresh produces and fruits available. Food and fish stalls are also there. Small compared to the other Farmer's markets around. Reasonably priced I would say. Fruits were really good, especially the berries I bought that day. People are friendly as well. What I liked the best about this is the location. It's in the Old Alvarado Park; shades all around. Comfortable walking around and picking up fruits/veggies without the troubles of sun in the Summer weather. There's play area near by where kids can have fun as well. Disadvantages: Small farmer's market, options are less. Parking is a big headache. Public parking spots near by, but always full. Street parking in the best option, but hard to find.

Yelp
Been going to this Farmers market almost every Saturday! Great selections of fresh veggies, fruits and fish! I always get some eggs and balut from the Filipino couple but it's been 2-3 weeks now that I have not seen their stall? Does anybody knows if they're just on vacation??? Appreciate it.

Yelp
Union City Farmers Market is located in Union City. Today's Farmers Market was smaller than usual -- it was half the normal size. I'm not sure why -- the weather was nice (sunny but cool). Those that were there were friendly and attentive. Hopefully there will be more sellers the next time.

Yelp
The Union City Farmers Market is located in a nice park. They are open year round every Saturday from 9am to 1pm rain or shine. The day we visited, there was about a dozen vegetable and fruit stands. Also, a couple of other vendors selling other stuff such as baked goods, kettle corn, Filipino food, and health products. Overall, it was alright. Would be a regular if we lived in the area. As a visitor to the Bay area, I doubt we will return very often to this specific farmers market.

Yelp
A decent farmer's market that sell a variety of produce, organic strawberries, most common Asian leafy greens, fresh seafood and fish,, and a catering that serves great chicharon, bagnet. They also serve other Ilokano dishes. The reason for stars is that a few of the vegetable vendors portion their bunches a little smaller compared to other farmer's markets from other cities. Prices went up like $3 - $4/ pound. During the pandemic & following the precautionary measures, The vendors will attend to every customer because they are only ones weighing and handing out the vegetables for you. They mostly accept cash, and they can accept credit cards.

Yelp
What's not to like about buying fresh fruit, veggies and flowers at a bargain rate? If you can swing yourself out for 1/2 hour to this outdoor market, you'll definitely be doing yourself a favor. Here is what I saw: -funnel cakes -fresh flowers -fresh fish and other seafoods (if your lucky) -fresh veggies -fresh fruits -free samples Bring out your bargaining skills...almost everything is negotiable. As for myself, I got there when they started closing up and was able to pick up zucchini's, flower bunches and plums. I got to bargain down all the prices and my Chanel wallet wins! I have left over money in it still :)

Yelp
We took our Saturday morning walk to the market today, and came across a super awesome young lady. She was very mature and professional for her age! She initiated a greeting with us by offering us some strawberries to taste. So we stopped to try; they were delicious! So of course we bought some. She chatted with us while she was packing our strawberries and was so welcoming. We came to find out that she is the director of the market's daughter (shout out to momma for raising this young one!) she also offered us some useful information as to how to keep the strawberries good for up to 3 weeks in the refrigerator (although we know these strawberries won't last that long bc they will be in our tummies!). 5 stars overall for this awesome little market.

Yelp
Great community gathering for everyone, especially families. I wish they allowed dogs, but I completely understand they they are not allowed because the health safety aspect. I have been coming to this market for years with my family. I loved going to the market especially during the summer because they have a live band that plays until noon. This market truly has it all: kettle corn, fresh veggies, pastries, hummus to FARM FRESH EGGS! If you really want to challenge someone or make a house party really memorable stop by the egg lady's stand for some Balut ;P Balut comes in either chicken or duck form. A Balut is an egg that has been incubated and now has a baby chick inside, basically a fertilized egg-an Asian delicacy. This market opens as early as 7:30a-8a. It runs until about 1-1:30p. If you need leafy green veggies, it's best that you come early for veggies because they tend to sell out really early. The only down fall about this market is the parking. There is not a designated parking lot nearby. There is only street parking along the park where the market is located. Come early or towards the end f the market because parking is hard to find during peak, busy hours.

Yelp
LOVE: all the fresh fruits and vegetables, great vegetables for all and every Filipino dish! Popcorn, and the perfect location EEEH: I live in SF and only come here when I'm visiting my mom in Fremont

Yelp
This review is for the fish monger only. I asked if he sold fish collarbone which is tasty when broiled, instead he said buy the tail piece which was just as tasty. Huge mistake as the piece was tough and old. Dishonesty gets you nowhere

Yelp
This was a great farmers market. It had all fruits and vegetables, so none of the other kinds of products some have, like no honey or bread. Although they did have eggs. We didn't need any though. My son says, "I really really like grapes and I did buy some and my daddy didn't know it but my mommy told him." He liked it a lot, and so did I. The only downside was that many of the vendors were selling the same thing as everyone else, so there wasn't a ton of variety. But that said, we got lots of variety and everything we needed. Would love to come again sometime, though we don't live in the neighborhood. Vendors were friendly and nice, and prices were reasonable.

Yelp
Union City Farmers' Market is a Certified Farmers' Market which means that this is a market in which the only vendors allowed are those who sell the products that they have grown themselves. Those who sell prepared foods and baked goods are also those who've prepared these foods themselves. Talk about locally grown and sustainable food. This is why I make it a rule never to haggle at farmers' markets. One, it's a lot of work; there shouldn't be too much effort when it comes to procuring food. I am not hunter/gatherer; I'm more pay and eater. And two, I figure that these people have gone through the trouble of planting, harvesting, growing, fishing and delivering my food. The least I can do is to give them a fair shake by paying their asking price. Yes, the choices are relatively limited, say compared to the Ferry Building or Jack London Square Farmers' Markets. But that's fine by me. I rather enjoy having a select group of farmers to choose from because that builds relationships. Daily Fish for example is a great group of guys who save me 2 lbs of sashimi grade tuna each week because they've come to know me and my fish preference. The kettle corn guys know that I'm a teaser--that is, my stomach can only hold a teaser sized bag of kettle corn. I'm loving this market. The slow food movement is here to stay and the farmers bring it to you, one leafy green vegetable at a time.

Yelp
Nothing too special about this. Everyone sells practically the same thing. We saw a popcorn stand but apart from that, there wasn't much around. There's some small restaurant around the area so that's a plus for people who get hungry before or after shopping.

Yelp
Union City Farmers Market is situated in Old Alvarado Park at Smith & Watkins. There's a few dozen fruit and vegetable vendors. very few food vendors beyond the usual baked goods, kettle corn, pies, churros and tamales, got a bargain on some tasty strawberries. will return someday.

Yelp
Awesome place for veggies. Plenty of parking around street corners. Not as big as San Francisco farmers but its not bad. I like the organic veggie stand. Good park for small kids.
google avatar

Yelp
This farmers market is pretty small but it has the essentials-fresh eggs, veggies, and fish. Parking is a little limited as you get closer to it but you can usually find parking a few blocks away.

Yelp
I've been coming to this market since my family moved here in 2000. I want to say it's gotten a bit smaller than I remember when I was younger but the same vendors still. My parents always came here for the oysters and fresh fruit and veggies. When I was a kid, the sweets and popcorn were my thing. Recently came here on May 6 for some flowers for my moms birthday. Vibrant and colorful flowers yet affordable! And the cherries were $6.00 pounds, so juicy! I'm glad they really fixed up this park also now I don't mind taking my daughter here to play on the playground.

Yelp
It's a fun place to spend time with family. People are Friendly and prices are fairly cheap. A lot of fruits, veggies, meat, and even flowers you can choose from. They even have those awesome kettle popcorn we love to buy at state fairs. We will definitely frequent this place.

Yelp
This is a great way to spend a lazy Saturday morning and support the local small businesses. Don't forget a stop at Paddy's which is kitty corner from the market. This is a small farmer's market with stands for things you would expect like fruits and veggies . They also have oysters, kettle corn and my favorite funnel cake. They just added a Napa evvo and salad dressing stand. I hope they do well and I bought some bottles from there to show support. I always make a stand at the hummus stand, the guy is funny. They have live music in the sumer which is a nice add.

Yelp
The community here reminded me of the homeland. The produce choices were very catered to the types of dishes you or your mom would make at home. I was quite surprised when I visited last weekend here. The plus+ -parking locations are easy and plenty -friendly town -beautiful people -reasonable prices -great homeland finds like even Balot and malunggay! -authentically new : Filipino flavor macaron!!

Yelp
After waking up at 5am on Saturday Morning, my girlfriend came over and fixed breakfast ( Apple Carmel Pancakes, Scrambled Eggs, Sausages -Meatless for her- and Hash browns) We wanted to do some walking so we headed over to the Farmers Market. There was actually more tents/vendors than last time. Watching the guy make the kettle corn was cool, A small bag is $3.00, A medium bag is $5.00 and for $8.00 you get a large bag. It was so good, I eat a lot and couldn't even finish half or the Large. We continued to walk around and we looked at all the fresh seafood (2 different tents). You will find Salmon Heads, Tuna Steaks, Squid, Snapper, Shrimp, Salmon. Lots more and they are all packed in ice to conserve the freshness. She picked up a bag of cut, skinned and de-boned Salmon for $8.00. (had the salmon the next day, it was fresh and the quality and taste was great.)

Yelp
It's a small local farmers' market in Union City that is held Saturdays from 9a-1p year-round. It was a rainy day Sat 9/22/07 and I was surprised to see many people still came out, that was good. I don't go to this farmers' market enough to know the farmers but I want to support them, they work hard and some have to drive a long ways to get here. Sweet Paradise seems their baked goods wholesale, though you can't just buy one cinnamon roll..you gotta buy a pack of 4 for $5. galattes are huge..the ones I saw were $10 and the flavors were: bing cherry or fuji apple. banana nut bread $5; pumpkin bread $5; scones $4 (5 in a bag), garlic chips $4 a container, jalapeno & paprika chips $4 a container. saw Rodriguez Farms selling strawberries. At near the end of the day I bought 3 baskets for $4, earlier he was selling them for $5 so saved $1. Saw other farmers selling fruits & veggies. Fruits like peaches & nectarines were selling for $1.50/lb. Near the end of the day one stand was selling for $1.25/lb; another $1/lb. Best to shop near the end of the day for deals. Saw the Gold Rush Kettle Korn - Benicia. They are at every farmers' market. Saw a table selling fresh fish in bags. Didn't get any though. Lots of grapes, baby eggplants, okra. Many Asian veggies too. Bring lots of Cash.

Yelp
Perfect! Big enough to have a lot of variety, small enough that prices are sane and it's easy to navigate without taking up half the morning. Street parking is annoying yet always available. My fave food vendors: the skinny churro and shave ice guy, kettle corn, hummus guy, and sometimes tamales. Eggs and seafood are good here, as are the wide selection of Asian veggies (lemongrass, yam leaves, daikon, taro, sweet basil, Thai eggplant...) as well as traditional veggies and fruits. Free music in the summer time, and located smack next to a gazebo and a play structure (so you kids can leave U in peace to grocery shop). Good coffee at Paddy's right across the street.

Yelp
I lived in Union City for a few years and never went to this market. When I stayed at my parents for the weekend, I was happy to finally check out the market. It wasn't as big as I thought it would be. We got there around 11sh so the crowd was that large anymore. The market featured so many asian veggies.... most of them I haven't eaten or seen for quite some time now. The area is under the trees so it was comfortable to go around the stores. Parking was bad too.
google avatar

Yelp
This farmer's market makes it a little easier for me to get out of bed early on Saturdays to take my daughter to her ballet class across the street. It feels good to buy noticeably FRESHER veggies and fruit for less! Even if you're not looking to buy anything its fun to walk around to soak in the sun and try some samples. I know everyone complains about the parking, but you can always find something down the street, and so what if you get a little exercise? Hey Churro guy, when are you going to bring back the snow cookies?!?
google avatar

Zem Z.

Yelp
This place gets busy even when they open up at 9 lot of tasty seasonal Foods there also including a small little food stand. Look for the Gazebo right next to the post office
google avatar

Rela S.

Yelp
Come by to support local farms! This place is awesome and the vendors work super hard to provide the freshest produce. They have organic produce also! I love the fresh eggs...super delicious and the chickens are raised in Manteca! They have strawberries, large selection of organic and non organic, eggs, honey, desserts, oranges, pies, kettle corn, grilled meat, seafood and more! I highly recommend checking it out!
google avatar

Su C.

Yelp
Come here for a true bargain! The fruits and veggies are more fresh and affordable than your local grocery stores. I look forward to coming here every Saturday morning. It is packed with crazy shoppers who may excessively eat samples, get territorial and bump into you left and right. I admit, I get a little wild about the samples and 5lbs/$5 deals, too. The secret is to avoid the stands you immediately see in the front. My recent strategy has been to hit up all the stands in the back. The deals are just as good or even better. Some vendors will even add a couple items for free, just cause.

Jenna V.

Yelp
Great selection of fresh fruits and veggies! People were friendly and helpful- The hummus samples were great as well! Ended up buying four tubs Will definitely be back next weekend

Yelp
One of my favorites Farmer's Markets to go to, I've been coming to the Union City Farmer's Market for a couple years now. This year round farmer's market located in Cesar Chavez Park is my usual stop for fresh veggies. This is a good mid size farmer's market usually with about 20 - 30 vendors. About 80% of this market is dedicated to produce. The remaining 20% is 1 fresh flower stand, a couple of baked goods, a stand that sells eggs, and every now and then the seafood guy is there. Best part, in all my years here, no Arts & Crafts! Prices here are probably one of the cheaper rates around since you have several produce people competing with each other. The only draw back is if you're looking for ethnic foods, there are none here. They have 1 food stand and 1 kettle corn stand and that's it. But your concentration is on veggies and fruit, this is a must stop. Aside from the lack of ethnic foods, the other drawback is the parking can be a bit of a pain. So be prepared to park on the street and walk a bit. Other than than solid 4 star Farmer's Market experience.
google avatar

Ervin T.

Yelp
Overall, the Union City Farmer's Market is great due to its friendly, neighborhood atmosphere. There are many diverse, interesting people who are very nice and courteous and seem to know each other. The food is all freshly picked and brought to the market and sold at a reasonable price. It even has interesting entertainment for all ages, from the playground to local guitarists and singers. Because it is in a small city, there is not that much parking available so expect a short walk. The market has all kinds of fresh produce and cooked foods, from apples and strawberries to churros and funnel cake. I came to this market in the morning a little before it became more busy. The patrons were all really nice and willing to talk. I was even able to learn about the food process and had a great conversation with one of them. Overall, a great market with a lot of great people and food!
google avatar

Amy W.

Yelp
What a nice little gem we have here! My Mom gets all the produce from here now! I went with her this weekend and loved it! I was pleasantly surprised seems like this place is growing! Go lil "une town"...
google avatar

Omar R.

Yelp
Pretty cold today and gloomy, came for a few items but unfortunately came up a little short probably due to the weather. You can find just about all you need fresh including some seafood. Bought some veggies and anchovies, not my pick. Didn't get any eggplant but it's ok. They had nice flowers for this Mother's Day weekend and fresh crab picked up from their catch the other night. In all pretty convenient with street parking all around the neighborhood. They have some food ready to serve but didn't glance at it. Probably be back since it's fairly close to my home.
google avatar

Jane D.

Yelp
Serious veggie action going on at this market. I recommend going early at 9 am and park down the street at the elementary school. The produce was fresh and very good. Everything we tried was delicious and worth buying. The only thing I didn't see were vendors selling more baked goods. There was one guy selling loaves of jalepeno cheese bread. He wasn't getting many buyers. I bought a loaf out of sympathy for him. Yikes, it was $8.50 a loaf. This famers market is more pricey than others that I have gone too. If you're looking for deals you'll have to look hard. For me I think the fresh veggies were worth the extra cost. I see it as paying for quality.
google avatar

Joanne R.

Yelp
I'm sure other people will debate me on this. However, I will declare that this is one of the BEST Farmers' Markets in the area. It's small, but it has everything one could possibly need in terms of fruits, veggies, and the like. Organic snobs need not apply. There is only one vender who is certified organic. All others are mostly pesticide free which is good enough for me:) What I love most is the variety of fruits/veggies available. A while back, after watching the "Iron Chef" episode with the White House challenge, I became obsessed with finding watermelon radish. Sure enough, one of the vendors at this market had the beautiful radish ready for me to buy at only $1 a pound. They were so yummy and fresh! I also like discovering other goodies like sticky corn and various varieties of eggplant! I also love the affordability of it all. I've been to the swanky ones on Berkeley and SF, but those are just way too pricey. (Plus, I'm not an organic snob.) Aside from the organic stall, most vendors sell everything between $1-$2 per pound (depending on what you buy). So much better than the grocery store! This FM is so under-rated! If you're in the area, I say to just check it out!
google avatar

Christine S.

Yelp
Key to a good business is knowing your demographics. With that said, the vendors know that the residents of Union City looove their balut and fish! But of course, with these foods, you need the right veggies! Basil for balut and bac ha (no idea what the translation is) to make canh chua ca (Vietnamese fish sour soup). See you there on Saturday! And if you must know, I'm 3/4 Vietnamese and 1/4 Filipino.
google avatar

Natasha S.

Yelp
LOVE coming here when i can! The fruit is SUPER fresh and the flowers are absolutely beautiful ... im so glad it went from once in a blue moon saturday (when i was a kid) to every saturday year round now ... again i LOVE IT OVERALL- ill be back (in my arnold voice)
google avatar

Christina Y.

Yelp
I remember when this was seasonal! Back then, we used to go every week.. but now that it's every Saturday, we often take it for granted. :T Overall, it's a good place to bargain and get your local fresh veggies and fruits.. and occasionally, ethic foods! On the snack side, they have the usual kettle corn, churros, funnel cakes, and sometimes cookies & pies! My mom uses the farmer's market to get rid of all her jingling change.. So when she buys her bitter melon leaves, I walk away as she starts counting $2.50 in nickels. Some of the vendors can be crabby so on occasion, you'll hear an argument bust out -- kind of an entertaining way to start your Saturday morning. Otherwise, the other vendors are nice and if you come often, they'll remember your face and give you the "loyal customer treatment" :) Note: Parking and traffic can be a bi-atch at certain hours. So get ready to get your road rage face on! Also, if you miss this farmer's market, you can go to the one in Newark/New Park Mall on Sundays!
google avatar

Diana B.

Yelp
Who doesn't love a good farmers' Market? The great thing about Union City Farmers' Market is that they have live bands that play- which is fun for everyone. And they have so many vendors, you get a huge variety! I personally like getting my white nectorines here. They are just not the same anywhere else! The live music here is awesome too, because they support a lot of local artists which is awesome! I'm all about supporting our local community in any shape or form, so that why it's pretty cool... I like it!
google avatar

Marsh-Silog P.

Yelp
Love this Farmer's Market! I like how they always have the hard to find veggies for old school Filipino dishes. I don't haggle with the vendors either since this is how they make their living and why bother? It's so cheap anyway. Walked away with kettle corn, box of strawberries, tons of stone fruit and veggies for under $25. I also walk away knowing that you've helped local family owned families. Vendors are friendly. Oysters are AMAZING!!! Fish is super fresh and if you're lucky you will find crab also. Also, if your're into it, the balut and salted ducks are fresh. Sure it's small and only one organic farmer, but support him! He needs it. His produce is super fresh and worth just visiting the Farmer's Market for. Great Farmer's Market and grab made to order funnel cakes on your way out.
google avatar

Nikki S.

Yelp
I've been coming to this farmers market ever since I was a little kid, and it hasn't really changed much! All of the vendors are really nice, and are willing to make deals with you if you're buying a lot from them. Definitely recommend buying from the egg farm booth, Hummus Heaven, and from the booth that sells fresh pastries and bread. Good product at good price! Sad to see that the churro guy wasn't there though. Those were the best.
google avatar

Robb J.

Yelp
Great place to get your fresh vegetables, fruits, and some deserts with the family. The freshly popped kettle corn is awesome!! You're limited to street parking, but you should be able to find a parking spot some where. There is also a little sand playground where the kids can play. Small and quaint, and when you're done with your shopping, you can head over to Paddy's coffee shop across the street to top off your morning.
google avatar

Diane Z.

Yelp
Overall, this is a nice market in a really quaint part of town. There was a decent selection of produce - not only the selection of veggies and fruits, but there are also eggs, oysters, tamales, etc. Plus the standard kettle corn / churros which I avoided (I'm there for the healthy stuff!!) The selection is not near as big as the Newark farmer's market, and parking is a bit tight because it is all on street. Still, there are deals to be had and it's nice to find a local farmer's market on Saturday
google avatar

Shayla F.

Yelp
A really great market! Especially if it's your first market like it was mine! All the sellers are very nice and smile at you even if you don't buy things! Wish there were more fruit and other options, mostly veggies. But still very good!
google avatar

Kathie C.

Yelp
Three! Three organic vendors now! (thunder/lightning...Ah..ah...ahhhhhh!) All the regular vendors are great, they have been watching my kids grow and they chide me when I am gone for a weekend or two. The organic vendors have largely the same thing, and at the same price. But the quality varies, so you can get the best of what you want just by popping in to both. There is a pastry vendor now, and a honey vendor. The produce is fresh and reasonably priced (ask for a deal!). We are always there early, before the heat and sun cause the stuff to wilt. By afternoon, things are a little "sad" looking. Another Yelper commented that the vendors at Peninsula farmer's markets give away produce for the class pets, but not in Union City? Each week, I take home a huge bag of culls ("throw away") produce each week for my chickens. Maybe she didn't ask nicely? :) Anyway, I'm happy with the selection and the vendors and the prices. :)
google avatar

Yelp
I'm glad they made this farmer's market year-round. I can always count on them for fresh and sweet fruits, nice asian vegetables, and that oyster guy! He's great, but make sure you come early because he usually runs out by 10am. One of my favorite things about this farmer's market is the stand that sells eggs. Not just any regular eggs, but BALUUUUUT and penoy. YUMMY!!! And recently, I discovered the tamales stand and also the taco one. Both yummy. Being 5 months pregnant, I constantly crave ethnic spicy food and the tamales really hit the spot. I must return this weekend for more!
google avatar

DJ E.

Yelp
I like going to this market to buy leafy fresh vegetables that you may not find at your local safeway or asian market. You can try your negotiating skills here because you're face to face with the vendors. With a little charm, they may give you extra something in your bag. I also tend to meet relatives and friends here like my auntie who I rarely see. We also sometimes get oysters (ext small) from this market. Beats driving to Pt. Reyes. If you ask nicely, he may even have you try a sample. Bring your own ice box in the car if you plan on buying some.

Yelp
*The produce selection is better than the Castro Valley Farmers Market, but not as good as the Hayward Farmers market. Will update after I've done to a few more markets. *Cheap Organic Produce. There was 1 organic produce tent that had produce for 1/2 the price as the organic vendors at the Berkeley farmers markets and they weren't snooty about it either (also unlike the Berkeley organic farmers markets). *There really Isn't many food trucks to speak. Of. For that you need to go to the Castro Valley Farmers market. *There is a pastry vendor there that bakes their own chocolate chip cookies for $1 each. Definitely worth getting one while you are wandering around. *I did not have this fabled kettle corn that everyone talks about, but it did smell amazing.
