"Michelin-starred chef Michael Rafidi will bring not one, but two, exciting new Levantine ventures to the booming Union Market district next summer. We stopped in for happy hour today before heading to a movie at Angelika and had a pleasant time. The happy hour specials are a bit hit-or-miss, with the oysters being tasty and a good value but some of the other options being a bit on the expensive side. For a Wednesday in the Union Market District at 6 pm, the place was pretty empty. Service was great, appropriately attentive and we received our food and drinks promptly. Seemed like the dinner menu was pretty limited, but we only ordered happy hour items. As I said before, the oysters were good. Fries & wings came out nice and hot. Wings were perfect cooked, nice and crispy, but not very heavily seasoned. Drinks were cold and the cocktails were tasty. All in all, a pretty good experience.

I dropped in just in time for their daily $10 Happy Hour before it ended (from 4pm to 7pm). The Happy Hour prices were not giving Happy Hour prices to me. It seems like regular menu prices. Also, the waiter straight up told me she would not shuck a full dozen for me, but just a half dozen. I thought that was an absurd thing to tell a customer, but I let her have it. She kept going to other customers, knowing full well the HH ends at 7pm. I literally rushed my order in at 6:59. She also had an odd attitude throughout our time there that did not sit well with me. The Food/Drinks: I ordered the Seafood Deviled Eggs ($10), 1/2 dozen oysters ($10), and a cocktail drink ($10). My friend got the Old Bay Wings & the same cocktail drink as I. The Seafood Deviled Eggs were bad. It was (what I assumed to be) dry crab meat on top of the egg yolk part of the Deviled Eggs sprinkled in Old Bay. It was also about 3 pieces... for $10, in which I felt cheated. The oysters were okay, but the presentation was horrible. The oysters were scattered across the platter with no organization nor to tell me which oysters are what. I had to organize my oysters. It was oysters on top of big crescent ice, with dining forks instead of oyster/cocktail forks. I guess the waitress found it in her heart to finally let me order the other 1/2 dozen oysters I initially wanted to order because "its not that many people here" (though the place was a ghost town when I arrived). I had to send two oysters back because they were slimy/gooey to touch. I do not know what my friend thought of her wings, but she didn't finish them. The cocktail drinks we ordered (sidecar) were also okay. It tasted sour & watered down, barely any flavor. I am likely not returning here, nor do I recommend it, but I do hope the restaurant improves several things such as employee morale, food presentation, and reasonable menu pricing for their Happy Hour.

BAR REVIEW ONLY. Came here Sunday for oysters and drinks—overall such a disappointment. Arrived shortly after they opened at 5pm, barely anyone was there but we decided to sit at the bar. Bartender, right off the bat, was not friendly at all—none of the staff there seemed welcoming either. Food was meh. Got a dozen Raw Oysters ($36) and nothing special—even asked the bartender where the oysters came from and she had no idea —this is supposed to be an oyster bar! I asked for pricing on their fresh seafood (snow crab legs and Alaskan crab legs) but no one there seemed to know the prices—wasn’t listed on the menu either. Also, got a Caesar Salad ($14)—small portion, waste of money. There are far better restaurants in the Union Market area to check out.

Google
My experience started downhill. The bartender was terrible and they took 30 mins to take our order. First the Bartender took our cards before we could even order our drinks. He basically grabbed my friends credit card out of his wallet. We ordered an old fashioned and the lemon drink, both drinks were super watered down. All things said, the raw oysters are amazing!

I’m not the type of person to leave reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience. I came with a group of 7 people…EVERYONE disliked their food. If you’re looking for a place to eat, this is NOT it. Service was very slow. Food was bad. -Tables were dirty -Waiter wasn’t checking in on us because she was busy talking to her friends and on her phone. -Wings were “just okay” -Baked chicken was burnt and even looked fried. (See picture) -Burger sliders were so dry that we had to send them back. We were told that they would remake them…30 minutes later, still no food. - we witnessed the waiter being given the food from the cook then placing it on the cash register while they went to go “run an errand real quick.” Very unsanitary! - I also saw a man in the kitchen cooking food with no gloves and eating some of the food he was making. Bare hands in his mouth, and then he went to back to prepping food. -20% gratuity/ service fee is added to all checks. Which is something I’d have no problem paying if the service was decent/good. It’s almost as if they “knew” they would be getting a tip already, so they stopped trying. -the ONLY positive thing about this place is the drinks. When we were leaving out someone in our group mentioned “this is the type of place they would have on the tv show bar rescue” - they were right. Eat elsewhere. Save your money, time, and a headache.

My friends and I were eager to support this local black-owned restaurant for a friend's Birthday dinner party! The ambience was amazing! The concerns we had were with serving wait time and staff rushing us to leave the restaurant. There was a shipment issue so they had a modified menu. I waited over an hour for shrimp and lobster jerk pasta; however, I would definitely recommend the pasta! The other concern was that we were not made aware that staff would kick us out when the band began their set. Our waitress finally informed us around 9:50pm that we would be billed an additional $20/person at 10pm when the band began to play. Our bill was nearly $1000. Staff began to come over to our table and tell us that we had to leave. I would like to suggest that parties are informed of the restaurant's live band fee policy prior to being seated upstairs. It felt as though we were evicted even though we were willing to buy more drinks/bottles and food. I gave 4 stars because the food was so good & the ambience. But if I were rating based solely on how we were treated it would be 2 stars. March 2023 Update: I went to this spot again thinking there may be a difference in the service. I literally updated to 1 star. IT WAS HORRIBLE. The waitress took about 45 min to bring our orders. We had to ask for water several times. We had a table and also went for a live performance. We received a bill before receiving our food...very distasteful! We received the smallest oysters I've ever had in my life. The charbroiled spicy jalapeño oysters and lemon pepper wings were not good. The wings were dry and unseasoned. The oysters were trash. I'll update the picture. They delivered my prosecco in a plastic cup...tuh. So you mean to tell me we can buy a table and can't even receive a glass. Damn. The sound quality is not great...it was the loudest...we had to write everything down because the waitress couldn't hear us. We also ordered hookah and two men came over to tell us to pay for the hookah. I mean we figured it would be added to the tab, but they made it seem as though we were leaving the establishment without paying. The proper way to have handled this is have the server come tell us that the hookah would be added to the table tab instead of making it appear that we had stolen the hookah smh. Btw it would have been nice to ask guests if we wanted to be a part of the artist's video shoot. Some people do not wish to be on camera/video. I WILL NOT BE BACK.

Google
The service was great. The food was excellent. And the vibe was chill. I'll definitely go back. Pictured-brussel sprouts (the best you'll ever have in life), shrimp and lobster jerk pasta, and seafood Mac and cheese. Expect to spend at least $50 on dinner and a drink.

Went here with my gf for dinner and drinks on Friday. Service was unorganized and slow. Food menu had limited options. Ordered the fish and grits. The fish was over cooked and grits were stiff and thick. They had a DJ so the atmosphere was ok.

Yelp
My experience at this establishment was quite chaotic. Despite the menu stating a daily happy hour from 2:30-6:00pm, it turned out to be misleading. It took several staff members and multiple conversations to clarify that happy hour is only available on weekdays. On weekends, you're required to go to the second floor with a $20 cover charge to access happy hour prices. Although the bartender adjusted our drink prices to align with happy hour, we still paid full price for food. I ordered lemon pepper wings and fries. Unfortunately, the wings were burnt and lacked lemon pepper flavor, tasting like plain fried chicken. On the upside, the fries were fresh and tasty. They did have basketball games on the TVs, which was why I initially chose this spot. Overall, I'm disappointed with my experience and don't plan on returning.

Yelp
Just found out about the Union market area and decided to try my hand at a local happy hour. Though the restaurant appears very nice on the inside, there was a lot of disorganization as it relates to food and staff. We ordered truffle fries, wings, and oysters. The fries and oysters were returned as they were not crispy and just had no love and flavor in them. Additionally, the bartender was a little spacey however our drinks came out fine, They have great happy hour deals. All drinks $10 and certain foods $10. My only comment would again be about the food not being cooked all the way and the seasonings.

Yelp
What a PLEASANT surprise Union District Oyster Bar & Lounge is. It's a quaint gem in the former Florida St. Market area. The lounge is upstairs, and it is so inviting, grown/sexy, and intimate. There's a stage for entertainment, a dance floor, and bar area. The food (fried shrimp, truffle fries, and fried fish) was outstanding and the service was so accommodating and professional. I'm still blown away by my experience and I will be back for public events but I'm planning on hosting a private events there as well. The manager Ms. Jackson ensured that EVERY detail was addressed and that my guest felt welcomed and comfortable. Ms. Jackson and her staff are the epitome of professionalism and class. I will definitely be back. #HappyEatingDrinkingAndOysterShucking

Yelp
Had to come and let y'all know that this place needs new management desperately. The service charge is 20% and does not go to the servers or even the staff. Our bartender told us it was due to the rising price of seafood?? This is not fair I am paying an additional 40% on top of an already expensive menu , in order to just tip my server? Yall. I couldn't even eat the whiting sliders because they were so full of bones, my friend got the shrimp plate and a beer and we split the bill and my bill was $45. That's just ridiculous $90 for two plates and one beer. Clearly will never go there again.
google avatar

Yelp
Personable and we felt very welcome. The food was good, the atmosphere was perfect for a night out and the live entertainment was the icing on the cake! Mom, as she known to patrons went out of her way to make these two guests feel like regulars.

Yelp
If I could give negative stars for this place, I would. I came for happy hour, there was one bartender working for the whole restaurant and there were maybe 4 other customers there at 5:00 PM on a Thursday. That probably should have been my first indication that this wasn't going to be a great experience. It took 20 minutes to finally get a menu handed to me. Then the bartender disappeared for another 20 minutes. After I was finally able to get a drink order in for the sangria, which took another 10 minutes to "make," what showed up was just the house red wine diluted with club soda, and that was it! After I was smugly charged $13.00 for that crime-against-wine, I decided I had seen enough and didn't even bother finishing the abomination set in front of me. This place needs to be CNTRL+ALT+DELed and make way for something better to occupy the real estate upon which it sits.

Yelp
Two stars for the oysters, which were delicious. The service was the worst I've experienced in a very long time. Apathetic and borderline hostile. Drinks took forever and then were incorrect . We ordered a dozen oysters - our server had no idea this was on the menu! Then we asked what kind of oysters they had that night. She said she didn't know and didn't offer to ask. Had air pods in her ears the whole time. Then we find there is a 20 percent service charge- not disclosed on the menu anywhere. Then she had the gall to say she doesn't get any of it and I have to tip on top of it. Ridiculous amount of money for a dozen oysters and three drinks. Stay away.

Yelp
I have been here a few times and the staff is always great. The music and atmosphere is good. The food always comes out hot a fresh. Top meals are the burger sliders ,fish and chips, or the pizza.
google avatar

Yelp
So.. I'm giving 3 stars because of the slow service and service charge. But let me say that char fired oyster scampi were good... little pricey for 6 but was a good appetizer.

Yelp
I've frequented Union Oyster Bar a few times in the past, and it's very disappointing that I have to write this review. Last night I paid $28.33 for 7 chicken wings. The wings weren't even good to say the least, I threw away 3 of them. This place has an automatic $3.74 service charge on each bill, which was not disclosed by the waiter or anywhere on the menu. Mind you the menu price stated the wings cost $16 and I had only water. I still tipped the waiter because it wasn't her fault and she was pleasant. However I will NEVER EVER AGAIN EAT HERE AGAIN !!!! It should be criminal to charge this type of money for chicken to your customers.

Yelp
We arrived at happy hour, to do a mini celebration for my moms birthday. So the ambiance is nice: small and intimate you can see the back and the front at the same time. Our waitress was sweet. But the buck stops there. It took almost 45 min for our food to come out. We ordered fries, two half dozen raw oysters, a set of oyster shooters and charbroiled oysters, "scampi style". First they brought the wrong type of charbroiled oysters. Then they brought food out one at a time. The charbroiled oysters tasted more like cream and Parmesan. Drinks were weak as hell, but they said "wE dO 2 oz PoUrs". It tasted like just liquer and juice. Overall we were very disappointed. Oysters were small as hell. Happy hour prices were good but not worth the free parking.

Zach S.

Yelp
Ambiance was top notch. First time having oysters, and they did not disappoint. Service was smooth

Yelp
I came in for the Gogo karaoke and enjoyed myself so much. The vibes were there and the service was amazing. I enjoyed a strawberry henny, with some Brussel sprouts and a dozen oysters. The oysters were a bit gritty for my liking. But, they were a good mix between sweet and salty. I had no complaints. The Brussel Sprouts were crispy and delicious. The Parmesan cheese on top added just the bite they needed. We also had a couple shots. Again, the service was top tier. My friends and I will def be back.

Yelp
Went there this past October 2023. It was a girls night celebrating one of the ladies' birthday. The ambience was nice and the food was good as well. They serve typical bar foods. Our waitress was pleasant and very accommodating. The reason for the 4 stars, we had chosen the venue because it had been advertised that live entertainment would be performed by Secret Society on that night. It was indeed a disappointment upon arrival, we were told they canceled. As well as the birthday honoree relocated to the DMV area and had been dying to experience DC ole school go-go. The entire weekend was dedicated to experiencing DC nightlife. This visit to the Oyster Bar was the first night of that girls' weekend. A disappointment that night regarding the entertainment but as I said ambience and service didn't totally ruin the night.

Yelp
Picture this... You meet up your husband half way in DC because he travels 2 hours one way to work to have a light dinner. It is also your 18th wedding anniversary. You experience the worst service ever witnessed in life. The waitress comes over from start to finish rolling her eyes with no smile or patience. Although the fish/grits and sliders are decent, the poor customer service does not make up for it. The waitress only smiles at male customers that compliments her huge butt. She finally places the check down, picks up the credit card, charges it, comes back and puts it down without saying thank you for coming. You bring the attention to management and she apologizes. "It's her last day," she says, but no resolve on your end. This was the worst wedding anniversary dinner we've ever experienced. To make matters worse, the tip was included in the check. I wanted to root for their establishment but I just can't.

Yelp
I stumbled upon UD Oyster bar one Saturday afternoon after spending the day at Union market with friends. When we first arrived there was a private party upstairs, so there was a long line of people paying to get up to the lounge/party/club. I could hear the music was good but wasn't there to pay the $20+ for that. Luckily the place had only been open for a short while (they open at 4) so there was plenty of seating downstairs. So my friend and I sat at the bar downstairs and ordered some of the oysters that were being prepared right in front of us. DELICIOUS! I am a huge fan of charbroiled oysters and theirs were some of the best I've had. We weren't too hungry but it was the perfect afternoon sampler to go with our cocktails. Bonus - it was happy hour! The one negative: the service was very very slow and we had to remind our waitress several times for the things we had ordered (drinks and other appetizers) and for straws/utensils. Plus it took the kitchen almost an hour to get the dishes to us because I think they were short staffed? So although the food was good (loved the wings) there were some kinks that made the experience less than the best.
google avatar

LaJuan H.

Yelp
The service was horrible because the waitress robbed us to give her extra money stating the service charge didn't include her tip
google avatar

Patrick S.

Yelp
This place is a money trap. The drinks are too high and watered down. The drinks are served in 12oz plastic cups with only a 4oz pour. One bottled beer cost 11/12 dollars. One and done experience for me for sure.

Yelp
They food was good!! Me and a couple friends went there after a event in the area, I do not like how some restaurants transfer over to service charges because when the bill came it was a little hiccup, I had the sliders my friend had the soup it was tasteful.

Yelp
Hello, Time: 4:30pm Date: 3/18/23 Today my sister an I came there to get a good meal and drinks for my birthday. However things did not go that way. Here's the list of issues we encountered: 1. No one acknowledged us when we entered. Took someone 5 min to come seat us. (There was really only one table seated and the workers kept walking past us) 2. One we were seated, we never got silverware or water. We had to grab from another table. 3. We ordered two orders of charbroiled oysters and there were NO Oysters inside, mainly just cheese; the old bay wings had zero old bay seasonings and were burnt. 4. The drinks we ordered were so bland and had zero flavor, took the waitress soooo long to even get our drink order as well. Overall the service was slow and was defensive over any complaint we had. So we paid and left. Very horrible experience. We had to leave to get food from Somewhere else. Place is not the same Since previous owner left

Jack P.

Yelp
Terrible service, server mislead us on the tip, food took 45+ minutes, wrong drinks served, decent oyster.

Mark B.

Yelp
Came for a quick pre-dinner drink on a Friday. Bar was empty. Atmosphere was totally dead. Got the margaritas, which were clearly poured out of a jug and were 3/4 full. Generally crappy until our bill arrived, at which point we realized that there was an additional 20% fee for "maintenance and upkeep of the restaurant." Displayed nowhere on the menu. Bartender and Manager acknowledged that it's terrible, and that everyone hates it but basically shrugged their shoulders. Totally unhelpful. And on top of that asked for tip. So $44 for two crappy, half-full margaritas in a terrible bar with bad service. Will not be returning.
google avatar

Jasmin J.

Yelp
NEVER AGAIN! The ONLY good thing was that the server was nice but she was a liar smh! This place was terrible! I was calling to see what time their happy hour was and they we're PURPOSELY ignoring the phones smh! When we walked in NO ONE gtreated us! They just looked at us crazy for a min. It was initially weird. There was a guy walking around in the kitchen with his coat on straight from outside. It's definitely not a place I'd recommend to anyone I know and of course I'm not going back.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been here for happy hour a few times and the food is always delicious. Great prices, fresh oysters and really solid customer service. I absolutely love stopping by!

Yelp
I guessing new management, totally different menu. Worse!!! Save your time and money.

Yelp
It was a rainy Friday night! But I'm glad I decided to go to Union District Oyster bar. On Friday nights they have a live band for additional $30.00 upstairs, but they have a live DJ downstairs. The music was good! It was perfect for a Friday night after a long work week. The food was served hot, and the service was good. I wish I could've got a little more salad on my plate, but otherwise I enjoyed my night. If you're looking for a Friday night vibe I would definitely try it out.
google avatar

Kenisha W.

Yelp
It was a complete vibe!!! I took a short solo weekend trip to the area and I felt like I was home. I enjoyed the happy hours options and got to part take in the lounge experience upstairs. I sang and danced all night. It definitely will be my go to spot when revisiting the area.
google avatar

Yelp
So if you are looking for I live karaoke spot then this is it!!! Hands down.... Very cute set up, service was not that bad( I've had worse) however the drinks are watered down and way overpriced!!! Oyster are just ok

Yelp
Exceptional owners and staff who provide great service drinks and food. Very clean bathroom. They provide an excellent environment for socializing to promote a healthy lifestyle in the essential facets of modern society. I highly recommend this business.

Craig B.

Yelp
I will never go here again and would advise you to avoid it if you can. I've been there twice, but only ate/drank there once. The first time I went, I got tired of waiting for SOMEONE to come and serve me, so I left. Slow-ish service aside, their food is not good. There are MUCH better options in the area. You've been warned. Pro: - The server was friendly. - The bathroom was clean. - Decent playlist. Con: - Playlist was on someone's phone; there were occasional ads. - Food was not good. - My drink (their spin on an old fashioned) was gross. - They weren't busy, but the drink took a very long time to come out. - We think they gave us the wrong salad. The order: The rating 12 Charbroiled Cajun oysters: 14/100 1 specialty cocktail: 47/100 1 garden/caesar salad: 65/100 1 Brussel sprout: 79/100 Total (tax + svc charge + ...) ~$97

Caitlin C.

Yelp
This place is an absolute scam. This is the first google review I have ever left, which tells you how bad it is. We went for one drink - in addition to the drinks being poured out of a pitcher and 3/4 full, the restaurant has hidden fees that it doesn't not tell the customer about or advertise on it's menu until you are paying. Our $14 drinks ended up being a $40 bill. The manager told us "yes, people complain about this all the time but it's how we make money." Literally the worse experience at a bar or restaurant I've ever had. Never ever go.

Yelp
This spot is fire!!!! Great place to come and get great food, drinks, an experience great customer service. Let's not forget the ambiance. Trust me you will love their Thai Chili Jerk wings, and truffle fries.

Antwan B.

Yelp
I was invited to a bday get together. My friends arrived at 9:30pm and he ordered a bottle beforehand. I got there at 10pm and ordered fries because they ran out of everything else. I didn't want to eat on an empty stomach. He got his bottle at 11:15 and they close at 12am. I never got my food. I asked several times and I got attitude and ppl waking around chatting with each other not doing anything. I mentioned it to others in my group and they said not to expect decent service because I'm not going to get it. SMH they seem to constantly give bad service and think it's ok. I DO NOT RECOMMEND! The service is bad, staff rude, condescending, and they're more concerned with laughing behind the bar with one another than actually taking care of the customers. There was no care or sense of urgency. Then let's talk about the nasty bathrooms with sinks that don't work. Floor covered in tissue and a stained toilet with feces. The sink stopped up with some dark film on it. Since the sinks don't work I'm trying to figure out how staff is washing their hands. Then when I was leaving they yelled thank you for coming! It was the sarcasm and the acknowledgment that they never served me. Worst experience in DC. If you value your money GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. This place is not worth it!!

Jacqueline J.

Yelp
Stay home. Food was okay but the service was not. My date and I were the only 2 people in there and we were checked on once throughout the entire service. I couldn't order my meal because it took 25-30 minutes for the waiter to check-in and my date had to go get her.

Yelp
Go here if you want terrible service and to be ripped off. Ive gone 3 times with some time in between with the hopes it would get better. Nope. Went last night for a cigar event. Put in an order for 2 drinks at 7:55. Bartender gives us a receipt asap. Drinks come out in the next 10 mins and we order some wings and fried oysters. Mind you because of the event the menu was limited to like 3-4 items. We also ordered hookah which is $70 *scoffs*. Time is just ticking by and finally the waitress appears with our food. She brings me the fried oysters and takes the wings elsewhere. *dumbface* with no explanation. Its probably 8:45 now. Still no hookah and I ask for cocktail sauce because the oysters came with nothing. *another dumb face*. Waitress walks back and forth numerous times, a couple times with more wings. I stop her twice for updates on the cocktail sauce, hookah and wings. She gives a bs excuse and steps off. Its now 9:30 and the wings finally come out. No dipping sauce and nope she didnt ask but finally brings my cocktail sauce. My oysters are cold rocks now. My friend asks about the hookah, waitress goes oh what flavor did yall ask for again? Maam?! So clearly you never put the order in and been lying Everytime we asked. By now I ask for the manager. The owner/manager finally appears and I say the service has been horrible etc etc. He says well if youre here for this event you need to speak with the event manager. Im like are you not the owner? Doesnt this staff work for you? He goes yea but this isnt my event. I say ok fine who do I speak to? He goes idk. I say you dk?? He gets loud like look Im not arguing with you and starts to walk away. Im like cool we'll be sure not to return here. He goes GOOD DONT COME BACK! Wow. Now he decides to talk to the guy next to me who explains exactly what I just said. Now its love. What?? Event manager appears and hes livid. Now hes like this is bs. Bring out fresh orders of their food, take it off the bill and bring them a free round of drinks. 15-20 mins goes by and a new guy is like sorry were out of wings o_O. Then wings appear. Pure fkry. Ffwd its the end of the night and the original rude owner is now making like 2-3 drinks back to back that no one asked for. Bill comes and hes added all of those drinks, both orders of food, and some wild expensive brand of liquor that no one asked for. O_O Of course now were livid because wtf. Event staff works it out and fix the bill but my goodness when I say nothing about this place is worth the trouble. We go to another spot after and the people who were hosting the event are telling us how they added over $700 of extra stuff to tabs throughout the night and stuck them with the tab. Stay away from them! The part I forgot. Second order of oysters were full of shells. Im chewing and bit right into a huge piece of shell. This place is trash.

Yelp
Short and simple.... Bathroom was disgusting A service charge and gratuity was automatically placed on my bill and server kept change. I had to ask the server for my change. Let me determine if I want to leave an additional tip... Service - Three people were behind the bar, standing around and talking. But you wanted to keep my change for an extra tip.. yeah ok! Numbers on the table usually mean reserved but wasn't sure if this was the case since first time being there. Turns out, the areas were reserved but remained empty the entire night. A server brought out additional seats. When asked if reserved, she said yes. Don't know for who because they never showed up. So I sat for the whole night. Overall -- don't let the fancy decor fool you. This place is AWFUL

Yelp
First when I entered no one greeted then a man came in from outside looking like a street person and says you can sit wherever you like. I tell him we have reservations for 6 people. A woman then shows me a table that we had to move jn order to seat everyone. Service was slow. Food was ok. There was a live band supposedly upstairs and it was free to go up before 10:30 but they didn't let anyone go up before 10:30. When our check arrived there were extra charges added to each item plus a service charge not the gratuity. These charges could not be explained they couldn't make them make sense. Needless to say we will not be back. Wish I could give zero I stars.

Yelp
I never write a review but the experience we had tonight was terrible. They are charging ridiculous prices and the bring us plastic ware for $40 steaks and forget to put on of our orders. They told us they would take it off the bill and instead put a more expensive item of the bill then added gratuity to the bill. We have 3 meals and the bill was over $220. That is highway robbery. The place is the worst

Yelp
I was super excited to try this place and was sorely disappointed! From the moment my friends and I walked in, everything was off. There were large fires in the kitchen and the waitress had an airpod in and typed our order into her notes app. We went for happy hour, so we had to pick from a set menu. They did not have the beers we wanted and the beers we compromised on were warm and arguably not correct. Then we ordered some bites, and the cheeseburger sliders were so overdone they were hockey pucks in our mouths and completely inedible. Not to mention the waitress dropped one of my sliders and then returned much later with a new slider that was still overcooked to the point of all abandon. My friend ordered buffalo wings and he received lemon pepper wings served on a sheet of newspaper. Finally, we were ready to get out of there and requested the check. When it came the waitress watched my friend tip and sign the check then dropped the second check which had the existing service charge already included. In other words, she dooped us. We couldn't get out of there fast enough, but neither could the waitress. She was grabbing everything off our tables before we were even done. Including snatching our waters. I cannot say this more clearly, this was a bad experience. I would not suggest drinking or dining at this establishment.

Yelp
Always enjoyable crowd, food is tasty and the music is great. Bands do rotate and it can get a little packed but the crowd is fun even if younger demographic.

Yelp
I went here for a party that was upstairs. I'm only giving it 2 stars for the waitress who had to work the entire floor of about 100 people or more. The waitress was nice. I ordered fries and charred broiled oysters and a drink. The drink came out in a good amount of time. The fries came about 1 20 minutes later. The fries were cold and greasey. Sent those back. The oysters came 2 hours later and it was cold. Then when the bill comes there is an extra charge that you will see on the receipt for "advantage plan" and the waitress couldn't even tell me why. Also, they charge you more if you don't use cash and had a nerve to charge me gratuity. I wouldn't recommend going here for a party maybe non party time might be better but not the extra hidden charges. Do Better or Go home Union District Oyster Bar!

Yelp
Urania and Harry ... chefs kiss. Both are so amazing. Harry took care of us for 4 hours and Urania checked on us so many times to ensure we were ok. The drinks were so good, but not too strong. Be careful, because they will sneak up on you. And the food was good as well. If you're in the area, check it out!!!

Yelp
Wow! I can't explain how amazing this spot is! First, the gentleman who brought us here was so on point about this place. It was everything. Who goes out and orders a salad and can't stop eating it? Yeah me! The salad isn't the funny part. It's the fact that I'm out with a group of friends at the wee hours of the night and this place whips together food on top of drinks! That's a plus in DC because so many places close early. So the set up is awesome, you walk in and there is a bar as soon as you go in. There is music being played by the DJ. On point too! You walk up the stairs to the left of the entrance and there you have another level of greatness! You have the VIP room with its own private TV area and bar set up. I'm not sure if this was for the owner or what but it's definitely a cute spot and for high profile clients this meeting room is you for. Live band too on the second floor? Yup! They have it all! Let's talk about this food though!!!! Did you guys see the pics? The pics do it no justice! The Mac and cheese with that Lobster Tail??? Whhhhhhaaaaaaaaaat! Someone call the cops! This is definitely on the wanted list! Who is the chef???? Geeeeeeeeeeeeezus! I can't keep ranting and raving! Just come in and check it out! You won't be disappointed! Everyone was wonderful! Met the owner Russell and his son. Good good time! Will definitely be back.

Just Us 2.

Yelp
Hello Again ! Upon our first arrival, we were informed the establishment opened at 3:30pm...the internet stated 3:00pm. We walked to a few stores and on our way back to our vehicle at 3:05pm, we observed numerous patrons seated outside the establishment enjoying beverages. When approached about this discrepancy in opening time, General Manager Alonzo McPhaul in a dismissive tone stated "Do you want a table or not ? Either way I do not care." After a few minutes of conversation, Mr. McPhaul stated he had been informed that his tone was not appreciated earlier in the week. During further discussion, Mr. McPhaul expressed that he was stressed. We appreciate his honesty, had a conversation about how 2020 effect us all and we can not stay in that state of mind. We tried oysters and crab fries. Oysters were good Crab Fries were not, greasy and crab meat tasted like butter. There was also lipstick on one of our water glasses .... ewwwwww. This place has potential, we hope it finds it. Take Care

Yelp
Terrible service. Severs and bartenders seem totally uninterested in actually selling anyone food or drinks.

Yelp
Man...I was bummed that I didn't have a good dining experience here. I'd been wanting to go for awhile and finally went for dinner. I should start by saying the service and the ambiance in the restaurant are great. We were greeted and seated right away, and our waitress was wonderful. I really liked the more casual, sports bar vibe downstairs and the bit more formal dining area upstairs (that still had a bar, as well as a stage). All of that was great, but our meal was awful. We liked one of the starters, especially the mussels. However, the main dishes were not cooked properly and lacked seasoning. My husband actually felt sick the next day. I'm hoping that whatever issues they're having with the kitchen are worked out because I'd like to support. Until then, I'd only have drinks.

Yelp
Wildly slow service here. Waited an extra 20-30 minutes to get a check even after asking. Also for two happy hour drinks and apps, extra charges made the price ridiculous. Wouldn't go back if they paid me

Yelp
Come see Rain at Union District Oyster Bar. The food is amazing, the ambiance has a rustic feel, and the vibe is soulful.

Yelp
08/25/2019 update This restaurant isn't the same... Apparently, there is a change in management and service appeared to declined. I met a girlfriend there tonight for dinner and while the restaurant decor looks similar, the vibe is so much more stuffy. First, it took over 15 mins for my Pineapple bandit to be made. Fortunately, the manager didn't charge me for it and apologized for the slow service. I ordered a half of dozen of the blue point oysters and they were great. Since I have dairy allergy , there were many entrees I couldn't eat cause a lot of the food have milk and cheese in it. I went for the salmon and asparagus. It was delicious. In my precious experiences, the restaurant was typically buZzing. The 2nd floor had a few people there and wasn't too busy. I did get a chance to check out the radio /rooftop and that looks super chill and fun. March 2019 /April 2019 review: finally checked out Union District last night and my excitement was well worth it! I drove from Virginia to meet a friend for happy hour and was very impressed! It was easy to find a spot to park as it was a thrsdParking is alongside Florida ave, Morse or street parking. First, it's a very lively energy as soon as you walk into the building! Also, to see the beautiful and brown folks there was very encouraging for me! It was also good to see the white people enjoying themselves lol I met my girlfriend at the bar tables area and was greeted by the gorgeous, Vashae. I told her I was observing lent but needed a good mocktail and she delivered!!! My review is based on the appetizers/small plates that o ordered. Next, since I'm at a oyster house I love to see if they offer blue point oysters and yes they did!!!! Yum! Next, I have a dairy allergy and asked for cheese-less pizza and they delivered. It wasn't outstanding but it was good. The Thai chill jerk wings were very good. The customer service was great. A lady walked by and provided fruit infused water to us. The servers and bar staff was very friendly and checked in with us several times to see how we were doing. I would like to check out the upstairs, dinner and/or brunch on a weekend.
