Houston Restaurants Seriously Step Up Sanitization as Coronavirus Fears Empty Dining Rooms | Eater Houston

"Gr8 Plate Hospitality restaurateur Paul Miller says the Union Kitchen is 'doubling down' on sanitization by using a sanitation solution on tables (checked every half hour to hour), checking the dish machine and sanitation water, and cleaning utensils as part of their procedures." - Amy McCarthy

We have been to Union Kitchen many times and have never been disappointed. From the moment you walk in you feel welcomed. Great atmosphere, good mixture of elegance and comfort. The staff is really amazing; very friendly and attentive, no matter if you are a regular or a first time guest. They are also knowledgeable about the menu, ask about allergies and have great recommendations. The whole team will make you feel comfortable. Daily Happy Hour at the bar is great. Cocktails, wines and beers are half off and so are the small plates. But you should come early, it’s normally very packed. I love their homemade pasta. Always cooked to perfection. You can taste that every dish is prepared freshly and made with love and passion. Absolutely outstanding are their wine dinners. If you have the chance make a reservation for the next one. The wine dinner combines delicious food with wines from a special region. We have already discovered some really good „hidden gems“. It’s always a pleasure to see and chat with the owners Christie&Roberto. Can’t wait to go back to our „second living room“! Thanks Team Union Kitchen for all the great memories we have made together🫶🏻

Google
Amazing chefs kiss. Obv. Highly recommend Will be back! Service is on point: friendly, helpful, informative, fast...etc. Cocktails are DELICIOUS. Plenty to choose from. It's a full bar so order anything you want. Craft style cocktails. Smoked old fashioned: wowowow Lobster ravioli is a must. Perfection. Randomly ordered the bread pudding for dessert and IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! The atmosphere is unpretentious and straight forward without feeling naked. Lighting is terrific. Noise level was ambient and minimal. Such a great place to dine!

Google
A culinary oasis awaits you at this unassuming gem in Wilton Manors. The food is cooked to perfection and the ingredients are fresh and tasty. The grilled branzino was especially noteworthy, as was the Spinach Lumache with rabbit ragout. Several desserts are homemade and just wonderful. Excellent service too.

Google
All dishes are served on chipped plates. How can you serve food on damaged dishes? This is the first sign of a complete lack of respect for customers. So-called signature cocktails — in reality, tasteless water with a large amount of alcohol, priced outrageously. $17 for some unclear mix. The burger — the patty itself is decent and juicy, but the fries… cold and blackened. Clearly cooked in fryer oil that’s far from fresh. The color of the fries speaks for itself. I asked them to remake it — they just reheated it in the microwave. Result: bitter fries with a rancid oil taste. More like soggy, stale chips. The manager of this place tried to insist that “everything is correct” and that they’ve been using this potato recipe for over 20 years. No one apologized. They refused to remake it properly. The Amarena cherry pot de crème dessert — tasteless, fatty mass. All you taste is sugar, fat, and lumps like unblended cottage cheese. Conclusion: the kitchen is VERY weak — Burger King would taste a hundred times better! Service is COMPLETELY NON-EXISTENT, and the bar serves swill for insane prices. This place only cares about your money; they clearly don’t care about quality. Their so-called “high-level cuisine” has nothing to do with reality. My advice to the owner: at the very least, replace all the chipped dishes. Try the food and drinks you serve yourselves. Then go to places that actually serve quality food and compare. What you’re doing is just cheap garbage for crazy money.

Google
Union Kitchen is a cozy restaurant in beautiful Wilton Manors. Plenty of parking and conveniently located close to many of the main attractions that Wilton Manors is famous for. The ambience is warm and cozy. The cost is reasonable and the menu varied. If you are into adult beverages you are up for many surprises. Cocktails, spirits, and wine are in abundance. Overall a great experience.

Google
I visited for their advertised “$1 Oyster Night,” expecting a good deal. When I arrived, all oysters were on display, seemingly part of the promotion. However, I was later told that none of the oysters shown were actually part of the $1 deal. When I asked the owner for clarification, he was extremely rude and condescending saying he didn’t know. I pointed out that the website advertised $1 oysters, and he said it was “chef’s choice”—but when I asked what the chef’s choice actually was, he said he didn’t know and neither did the chef . That’s incredibly unprofessional and misleading. You can’t advertise $1 oysters, put all your oysters on display under that promotion, and then charge full price for them while refusing to specify which ones are part of the deal and then even the chef or owner knows what oysters are for $1.00. That feels like a bait-and-switch tactic—intentionally deceptive and bordering on theft. Customers deserve transparency and respect, not to be misled or spoken down to. I won’t be returning, and I strongly advise others to double-check any advertised deals before ordering.

Google
I had such a wonderful experience at Union Bar & Grill! The grilled octopus was perfectly tender with just the right amount of char, and the seafood risotto was absolutely incredible — rich, flavorful, and packed with fresh seafood. To top it off, the owner, Roberto, was so warm and welcoming, which made the whole evening feel extra special. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for amazing food and genuine hospitality! One of the best spots hands down in South Florida.

Google
Dined in on 9/20 and enjoyed every bit of the experience! Our server, Jeremiah, was super knowledgeable of the food and wine menu. He was a delight! The food was to die for. Overall, a great experience. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Went for dinner since we were staying at an Airbnb in Wilton manors near by, loved everything! We had reservations for our party of 8, seated pretty quickly, restaurant was packed but service was great. The restaurant is very cute with nice outdoor and indoor seating, and comfortable booth seating too. Loved the truffle/ mushroom pasta, the ravioli was very good too. I was surprised by the zucchini and corn fritters, so tasty/ possibly my favorite dish. And definitely glad we didn't skip dessert, the apple donuts were the perfect ending and the caramel dipping sauce was so delicious! So many vegetarian and vegan options which is great. Definitely recommend this place, all the food was so good, server told us it's locally owned, couple is Italian and Peruvian and menu reflects some of that which is great. Wilton manors is lucky to have this place! Wish it was in Tampa.

Yelp
Union has been on my list to try for some time. Finally got there tonight. Met all expectations from the reviews I have read and love that the owner, Roberto, comes by to check on table in a warm and welcoming way. Food was great, Drinks were great, interaction with the owner was great! A huge asset to the area and we will be going back for sure!

Yelp
I pick this restaurant based on other yelp reviews . Everything was 5 star. The drinks (I had 2 Basil Margaritas) the food (I had the braised short rib and my friend had the pork chop which I tasted). For desert we shared the donut holes which were amazing . We talked to the owner before our departure and what a great person.I am definitely coming back anytime I am in the Wilton Manor area.

Yelp
Once again, Union Kitchen doesn't disappoint!! Took first timers there yet again and everyone LOVED it! Roberto was so nice to accommodate our party and between the 7 of us, we ordered 90% of the menu. Every dish was better than the next! The special was amazing, apps were delicious and the desert topped off the meal. Kudos to Christie and her team for another delicious dinner!!

Yelp
This modern neighborhood restaurant located in Wilton Manors has a great ambiance. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. I started with a refBasil Margarita $15. We shared the Pear Apple Salad $16 and the Roasted Cauliflower entree $22. They were both so fresh, flavorful and delicious. The service was friendly and efficient.

Yelp
Recently had several great meals at this locally owned restaurant. Can't believe it took us 3 years to discover it! Went to their monthly wine dinner in June, highly recommended.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant and bar off the main strip. The drinks were great , cosmic sour and chicken wings are so flavorful. Bar tenders were very friendly

Yelp
Union Kitchen & Bar, formerly XES Bar, is a well-decorated modern-style place that exudes with warmth, comfort, and atmosphere. It has a super nice bar and both an outdoor patio along with an indoor covered and uncovered patio. Foodwise, it's rather unique in serving what it terms to be Modern American Cuisine. It's a husband-and-wife team with the husband having been born in Northern Italy and the wife in Peru. Both have a passion for food and each has managed to incorporate the culinary techniques of their respective backgrounds into the dishes they serve. They also concentrate on local foods with their menu changing seasonally, which menus always contain some unique items you wouldn't have at home like SPINACH TAGLIATELLE WITH BRAISED RABBIT peas, carrots, and thyme or SQUID INKLUMACHE WITH CRAB white wine, butter, lemon, bread crumbs, and herbs. On one dining occasion, I had their PORCINI CAMPANELLE done with wild mushrooms, peas, spinach, fresh herbs, and truffle cream. The pasta itself was handmade, had the perfect texture, and was a truly delicious culinary delight. Most recently I came for dinner, sat at the bar, had a couple of very good drinks, and chatted with their friendly and attentive bartender. For my meal, I ordered their GRILLED FLAT IRON STEAK rare with chimichurri and an herb crème fraiche. It was a total disappointment when it arrived, being well done, not rare, and with some seasoning that didn't even come close to any chimichurri sauce I've ever encountered. It really wasn't very good at all. I've also been there at other times. At those times, without getting into details, what I had was good, but at other times not very good. So, to me, consistency lacks which overall renders Union Kitchen & Bar somewhat of a hit-or-miss place.

Yelp
Delicious food created by Chef Christie and great wine list curated by Sommelier Roberto. Delicious cocktails too. Super friendly service. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I made a reservation to sit in the front patio area but due to the pouring rain we sat at the back bar. The back patio is really nice it's covered and a great outdoor space I've heard really good things about the chef and was excited to try this place. Surprisingly they do have happy hour six nights a week from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the bars and front patio. I ordered the grilled octopus which comes with two sauces, pea puree and chimichurri and crispy potatoes. The octopus was cooked to perfection and the potatoes were great. They have on their menu four choices of homemade pasta so I had to try one of those since I love homemade pasta. I went with the spinach tagliatelle with braised rabbit. It's served in a bowl and the sauce is a little soupy. It is definitely a unique sauce and very fresh. I enjoyed it but it's not a dish I would order again. We saw that the couple next to us was eating something that we weren't sure what it was so we asked, it was a special, caviar. Our waitress forgot to mention it to us Was too full for dessert however look forward to coming back to try their ricotta Donuts served with orange marmalade and chocolate sauce.

Yelp
I visited one evening to attend a show across the street. The food, service, and ambiance were exceptional. The backyard atmosphere was particularly appealing, making me eager to return, perhaps on a Sunday. We ordered a variety of dishes to share, with the grilled octopus being slightly undercooked but still palatable. Due to my allergies, my parents enjoyed the wontons, while the tacos were the highlight for all of us. The cocktails were not only delicious but also creatively named. The service provided was truly delightful.

Yelp
Just wow!!! Very chic atmosphere. Service was great. The food was totally amazing. I had the blind pig cocktail (grey goose vodka, honey, blackberries & mint). I had the clams & spinach linguine with Italian sausage. The was jaw dropping good. My other half had the burger without the bacon & she loved it. Cooked exactly as she requested. For desert a chocolate pot du creme. OMG, this was just the bomb of deserts!!!

Yelp
10/10. Everything is top tier excellent, from the food made from scratch to the amazing, friendly staff and wonderful owner, Roberto and his absolutely phenomenal wife. Peruvian dishes are a favorite, but there is something for everyone including an excellent wine and drink list. The menu changes quarterly so there's always something to discover. High end without feeling formal or stuffy is rare and it's absolutely some of the best food you'll have in an intimate and welcoming beautiful place. Date night to night out, you can't go wrong!

Yelp
Hidden gem in oakland park! A friend of mine recommended union and im so glad she did because it is truly delicious!! And fantastic happy hour! Half off drinks and low priced food items that are sometimes more than half off! The mushroom pasta was delicious and just enough truffle (not too overwhelming) and the deviled eggs are delicious! The wings are good but i think maybe not great, could use maybe a bit more pizzazz but honestly the ambiance and food are great! Also the service staff were so nice and the manager came by to say hello and make conversation!

Yelp
Incredible place! Delicious food and perfect craft cocktails. Highly recommend! The bartender Josh was so accommodating and creative, we've tried a lot of unique stuff

Eileen S.

Yelp
Delicious food, but insanely loud - so loud the server had to lean into the middle of the table, and still didn't quite get our drinks right. Not sure why popular restaurants think jet-engine-roar-level noise that prevents you from hearing what the person you're dining with is saying is an indication that people are enjoying the experience.
google avatar

Jason P.

Yelp
Went with a large group of 10, and the experience was phenomenal. The food was so good, and nothing disappointed. The octopus appetizer was 10/10, the group loved the short ribs, I got the salmon and thought it was cooked perfectly. I also tried the branzino and it was one of the best I've ever had. Drinks were strong, and the service was great. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
We went on a Friday night and sat on the patio. There is free parking in the attached lot. Staff is very friendly. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The happy hour is available on the outdoor patio or at the inside bar. $7 drinks and bar bites. We had the pumpkin deviled eggs and chicken wings. Both were tasty. The pork belly tacos are delicious. The pasta with mushrooms and cream sauce was rich and tasty. We got the small portion, which was plenty due to its richness. Overall, we had great service and food. R get have daily specials.

Yelp
I can't tell you how much I love this place!!! Since discovering it a few months ago, I have taken numerous out of town guests to experience the wonderful food, service and décor of this gem in Wilton Manors! Last night, my wife and I went for dinner and happy hour to sit outside at the patio and experience another wonderful dinner. We shared the mussels, the special (delicious burger) and some pasta. We are looking forward to our next date night but wanted to give a shout out to Roberto, Christie and their wonderful staff...if you haven't gone, GO!!

Taylor C.

Yelp
In town for 4 days, went here for dinner twice; almost went for a third time, but logistics got the best of us. Quality food, quality service, quality cocktails. Not pictured: the Basil Margarita, the Union Burger, and the Pumpkin Casoncelli. Ever crave salad? Nope, me either, but this Kale & Parmesan salad will change your mind. Very nice for a date, or just a dinner out. 10/10

Kaleb T.

Yelp
Food is amazing, service was great, prices are completely fair for the quality and amount of food received. Drinks are also great. I have been multiple times and will continue to visit when I am in the Fort Lauderdale area.

Yelp
I keep coming back because they are THAT good!! I love that Chef Christie changes the menu up with each season and fresh ingredients. Tonight I sat at the bar and Josh made me a great "dirty" martini with blue cheese olives. Omg yum! For dinner it was the Seared Grouper that comes with a corn purée, spinach & spring succotash of zucchini, peas, corn tomato, onions and red pepper. It was delicious! I love the whole staff and managers...Wilson, Jeremiah, Patrick, Ryan and of course Jonathan truly make sure you have a great experience. Robbie and Chef Christie have done an amazing job!

Yelp
Union is a great addition to the neighborhood. It's our go to spot when we want something "a little nicer" The food is very consistent and great selection. The chef(s) are very creative. The kale salad is top notch! My only complaint (and it's not worth taking away a star) is the wine selection is just ok. The Pinot Noir by the glass is German and it's really not good. The drinks are really tasty though...I'm looking forward to when I'll get a great drink and a great glass of wine (or two).
google avatar

Kristin K.

Yelp
We came to have dinner with some friends. We had the chicken wings (very delish , crispy and not greasy) , the grilled octopus, yummy and the Porcini Campanelle , never had anything so delicious like that before! I would drive back just to have a large portion of it! The owner is very friendly, servers were really nice, Moscow Mules, could be better!

Yelp
This place is right up the street from where I work, and my manager had given it great reviews but I thought it seemed a little pricey so I hesitated but...my two girlfriends and I have been sampling different "wine Wednesday/happy hour" deals in the neighborhood so tonight after several delays we finally did it. The ambiance was cozy, cool, lit by sunlight then dim lit (yeah we closed the place down!) I peeked out to see what the back patio looked like (looked awesome) but we had already just set up at the bar so...maybe another night. It felt a little pricey to me, but the quality and service was above and beyond. We were there for happy hour (which it would be worth to print out a happy hour menu - at least for little menu stands that can sit on the bar - it seemed like none of the wines on the wines by the glass menu matched with what was happy hour priced) but it's a good deal. We all had glasses of wine and small plates which were half off. My friend and I were having the happy hour Cabernet and my other friend the chard. I ordered the wings, one ordered the strawberry and Gorgonzola toast and the third got the deviled eggs. The cold apps came out first and let me tell you that strawberry and Gorgonzola toast (which came on crunchy bread with a balsamic glaze) went perfectly with our cab! The deviled eggs was...well much better and classier than you'd get at a picnic; while my friend enjoyed them I would probably pass. The wings - when I got there the guy next to me had a plate so I was already wanting to eat some. After we all ordered and they got their cold apps first I wasn't bothered although there was a mess up with my wings so I had both the bartender and (what I thought was the manager) apologizing - I didn't care I was too busy eating my friends' foods. I loved the wings, but my friend ate two while I ate one I guess she loved them more! And the dipping sauce YES PLEASE The real highlight was the service. Josh was fantastic! He definitely took care of us - then when wing problem happened he apologized, the man I assumed was the manager came over to apologize, and it wasn't a little later I asked him his name (Roberto) and if he was the manager and he told us he was the owner. He was so kind, so welcoming; told us how his Peruvian wife runs the kitchen (which explains the good food) and he's Italian (explains the good service). My thought is the owners and staff really want to make you feel like family when you are there. And they do. And I look forward to bringing more people there to grow the family!!! I didn't mention this at first but I thought this morning - Josh had 3 tabs lined up for us 3 girls - I don't know if they had stated separate tabs (I'm sure they didn't) so he just knowingly did that for us up front...and when I paid with $100 bill and accidentally left a much bigger tip than intended...Josh brought my check/tip back to me and said "I think you want to fix this" Now I'm questioning myself if I tipped him enough because I should have tipped him more for him not just taking the bigger amount. Guess I'll have to go back!!

Yelp
We went on Thanksgiving and had their special. Food was delicious and was a large portion. Service was fantastic. I really loved the ambiance of the back patio. I look forward to returning to try their regular menu.

Yelp
I had heard and read about Union Kitchen & Bar in Wilton Manors. We had theater in Ft Lauderdale and decided to try it. Kind of off the beaten path on side street. They have 3 outside dining areas, front , side and rear plus a some what small inside dinning room. Small but unusual menu serving Modern American cuisine. I opted for the Mojo pork wontons, caramelized onion and cilantro aioli to start. Nice and crispy with a delightful aioli sauce, For a main, I tried the Squid ink & shrimp ravioli with a white wine, garlic, lemon, & parsley sauce. Available as an appetizer with 2 large raviolis or a main with 4 . Very good. My wife tried the VEGETABLES & COUSCOUS BOWL, roasted baby carrots, Brussels sprouts, spinach & tahini dressing . She really enjoyed it. For dessert, we had a very good Key Lime Pie.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic. My husband and I are still talking about our meal and experience at Union from two weeks ago. Everything we ate was phenomenal. My husband loved his cocktails, the dessert was fantastic. We loved the atmosphere ( being pregnant and sitting outside was a little warm for me, but not awful). We can't wait to go back!

Yelp
My husband and I decided to try this place yesterday Friday May 24th around 7:30 pm. It was busy and we sat at the bar. It took a while to get acknowledged by the bartenders, but we were patient considering it was busy, however a simple "hello" would have been nice. The bartenders were arguing with the waitress, so much so, we had to move further from the service area. We finally got service and ordered our drinks. We also ordered the wings and a side of fries. The wings were ok, but the fries were soggy. They seemed to have been fried in old oil. So my husband returned them. The second order was crispier, but still had that bitter taste from old oil. Judging by the arguing and terrible service, at that point we had given up and didn't say anything. Then, one of the bartenders said to us: "Next time you order the fries, let us know that you want them crispy" ( At that point we knew there will never be a next time, so we didn't even argue) When we asked for the check, the other bartender had the audacity to say "We took care of your first order of fries." There is no need to tell us how to order the simplest item on the menu, they just can't get it right. And they did not "take care" of anything at all, that is just condescending. They certainly have no idea how to deal with customers. That's just poor service. This place is overrated, overpriced and the bartenders need to be properly trained and lose the classless attitude, they acted like they were doing us a favor.

Mary F.

Yelp
What a great place! We were there for happy hour and it was a fun experience. The bar tenders Taurus & Jeremiah were very attentive and the drinks & food were amazing. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Another birthday get together in Fort Lauderdale with this magnificent mama and good friend. We were recommended by a friend to check out Union Kitchen and Bar and it was a delightful eatery in Wilton Manors. The food options never ceased to surprise and delight us. The short rib wontons, the Brussels sprouts and the mushroom Campanelli pasta will have me going back for more. Our waitress, Patrick, went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied and even Roberto, the restaurant owner, came out to wish me a happy birthday and confirm we were pleased with everything! Even though I normally don't go anywhere on a "school night", I definitely did not regret checking out this Fort Lauderdale eatery. I'm sure you will not regret it either one in the Wilton Manors area. My words can never do this restaurant enough justice. A++ #monicraves

Yelp
This restaurant was a great surprise to me, although it has been open for more than a year. ' The professionalism of the staff is immeddiately apparent. The host quickly and cheerfully found us spaces. We were lucky, because we didn't have reservations. The maid dining room is "loft" like space with tasteful contemporary furnishings There is seating on the front terrace and a more sheltered outdoor seating area in back We had a minor question about wine, wich was quickly and humorously resolved. Our food was delicious. Not overly complicated, but well presented and prepared. Who knew shrimp could find such a happy home in cheese grits? Divine. The prices reflect the quality of the food and seemed quite fair The wait staff could not have been more congenial and professional. We plan to go back this weekend.

Yelp
I've been to Union Kitchen three or four times since my initial visit and though it's not as consistent as I would like it's still a good choice and might be the best restaurant in Wilton Manors. I believe the menu has seasonal changes or specials and who doesn't love that. The appetizers were very good as were pastas on three visits and though I'm not much of a salad person, Union Kitchen's versions are quite good. Service like many restaurants can vary and on my last visit the waiter was just going through the motions. One constant of Union Kitchen is the casual and inviting laid back vibe and I'm looking forward to returning.

Yelp
Had happy hour drinks and dinner tonight at the bar. Food was amazing, Josh, our bartender was great slinging great drinks. Shared wings, deviled eggs, a salad, pulpo and some killer mushroom pasta. Can't wait to go back and bring some friends!!

Yelp
We always celebrate Mother's Day the Saturday night before to avoid the crowds. Union Kitchen was my choice. Union has a nice vibe and warm decor with lots of greenery, dark tones, and low lighting. We dined inside but there is a lovely patio in the back. The staff is super friendly. Natalie was our server and did a great job. All of the food was solid but we definitely enjoyed some dishes more than others. We shared several starters, one of which was a large order of the Braised Rabbit Tagliatelle. The homemade pasta was perfection and it went perfectly with the succulent rabbit, light broth, and other ingredients. As other reviewers have mentioned, i would not recommend this dish as a stand alone entree as the portion was on the smaller side. We also ordered the Pork Belly Tacos which were good. The Crispy Polenta was just ok for me. I loved the tomatoes on top but the polenta was very dense. We each ordered our own main. I knew before we came here that I was going to order the orange glazed tuna as I am a huge tuna fan. The tuna was good but could have used a bit more flavor. The coconut rice was delicious. Husband enjoyed his flat iron steak. The best entree was the Chicken Agrodolce. Made with white wine, raisins, onions, with a polenta accompaniment, this chicken was one of the tastiest chicken dishes I have ever had in a restaurant. I ordered Brussels as a side and tried a few. The Brussels were tasty but could have been crispier. The peanuts were a nice touch. Skipped dessert to head to Wilton Creanery close by. Tab was about $220 for 3 with no alcohol ordered. Might have to return for the chicken and some more homemade pasta.

Yelp
We have been here 2x. Food is on point. Atmosphere is fun, loud, when it gets crowded due to acoustics... but I think that is part of the vibe. My one wish for improvement would be the manager on duty the night we were there. She stopped by our table several times... not warranted, and interrupted our conversation. There is a fine line between checking in and intruding. To add to this she asked us to move as there was a reservation for the table we were sitting at. First of all, surely you knew that, why would you seat us there. Granted, we did have two bottles of expensive wine, so perhaps it took us a little longer than you expected. We happily moved outside to the patio which was lovely. However, for the inconvenience , and yet another interruption to our meal, you would think that the manager would've offered to buy us at least a dessert. Customer service, simple kind gesture, genuine smile instead of a grumpy demeanor all add a positive to the overall experience and ensure better tips for your servers.

Yelp
Visited last Saturday for a date night and had a wonderful time and lovely meal. The service from our server & staff was excellent, bettter than some Michelin starred restaurants we've eaten at. Ambiance was wonderful, and the drinks brought the drama in a good way! We had the crispy pork tacos (could have probably eaten 20 of these), the grilled cider pork chop, and the lomo saltado, all very delicious and presented wonderfully. Very lucky to have this restaurant so close by, looking forward to our next visit!

First time at this restaurant in Wilton Manors. We were happy to see they had a private lot with customer parking, which in WM is a bit of a challenge sometimes. We got reservations and we got seated right away outside in the front patio area. They also have a large back patio area and a nice cozy air conditioned dining room and bar area. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. Respectful of our conversations.....he did not ask if we were ready to order until he saw that we were done with our conversations. Very professional. I got the grilled Swordfish ($29) which came with carrots and sauteed kale. It was really good. Done perfectly, moist and nicely seasoned. My husband loved his pumpkin raviolis..you can get 2 for $14 or 4 for $24. Our friends loved their meals as well...some got the Chicken Agrodolce ($27), tacos, pulled pork sandwich or the Snapper. All very well done. The portions are not huge, but the entrees were well done and the atmosphere was lovely.

Yelp
The Union Kitchen is like new meat in Wilton Manors and everyone wants to give it a try. Turns out, Union is a very positive addition to the community. I started out with a smoking bourbon drink. It always fun to start a dinner off with flair. Union offers main courses with fish, pasta, steak with an upscale vibe. My short rib pasta was a flavor fusion. The restaurant has a handsome design with nice lighting. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Great venue for a date especially if he is paying.

Yelp
On a quiet early Sunday evening we came here for Happy Hour/ Dinner. We easily parked next door in front of a closed business, but the restaurant has their own lot as well. We sat at the bar inside. In addition, there is a patio out front street side and inside tables. We didn't realize until later when we walked around after eating that there is also another bar out back as well as additional outdoor seating there. The stylish restaurant is much larger than you would imagine looking at it from the front view. We had great service at the bar from Edward and got to watch the raw bar set up and chat with Auralee, as well. My husband enjoyed a unique craft cocktail called the corps revivier (body reviver) that had 3 of his favorite ingredients: elderflower, passion fruit, and absinthe. The main kitchen doesn't open until 5 pm, but they also had a bar/snack menu. We decided to try their BLT deviled eggs. There were 3 to the order. And the crispy bacon throughout made salt unnecessary. The eggs were served on a bed of micro greens and each was topped with a mini tomato slice. They were cute and tasty. The regular menu itself is a mix of small plates, salads, pastas, and entrees plus their seafood raw bar selections. The Peruvian chef and her Italian husband get to show off their various ethnic cuisines as well as their stint at the tony Boca resort. After the deviled eggs, he had their short ribs arepas. The meat was so tender that it seemed to melt in your mouth and the guacamole under the meat was a creamy counterpoint. The "arepa" part was more like a cracker than the sweet corn ones I'm used to. And I had their Maine lobster roll which was just perfect. The chunky lobster was an ample amount and lightly mixed with mayonnaise and celery. The seafood was on top of a lettuce leaf nestled in a grilled and buttered roll. The people sitting near us at the bar ordered a burger with hand cut fries and a pasta dish with bolognese -- both of which we'd considered --and they said both dishes were very good. The weekends get quite busy here and they have entertainment. But if you want to enjoy the food more than the "scene" come on a Sunday or during the week. And do come now before they are packed with snow birds. Union Kitchen is a cut above and well worth the trip to Wilton Manors.

Yelp
6-star ambience, 5-star service, 4-star food. Fantastic new gastro pub in Wilton Manors with very cool ambience inside and out, terrific service and terrific but slightly pricey small portions on the food. 6-star ambience. This stylish place is much slicker than the semi-industrial stretch of small businesses on this part of Dixie Highway. There's outdoor seating in front and out back. It's deceptively big inside too. Ample free parking is right next door in their own lot and in front of the other businesses after hours. Inside was a little loud with too many hard surfaces (a few soft-side sound panels on the ceiling or walls could help there). 5-star service. Service was like Swiss clockwork but not cold or officious. Our server was extremely knowledgeable on the food ingredients and substitutions. 4-star food. The food itself was outstanding (several friends had recommended the place for its terrific food). My poached pear salad and bistro burger were perfect. Doc C had the world's smallest pasta entree, ever...in fact we both thought it was probably mistakenly dropped off with us and was someone's small appetizer (see pic). I actually counted the pasta pieces and there were exactly 13, each less than 1/2 inch...the pricing was more than $1 per noodle. For the high price points on the food, the portions should not be ridiculously skimpy. The couple next to us had the same reaction when their entrees arrived. The clear-cut choice would seem to be lower the price and/or increase the size.

Great food, atmosphere, and staff. Love the outdoor patio. I forgot to mention the awesome cocktails. Great place to impress friends and family.

Yelp
This place holds such a soft spot in our hearts because it was the first place we went on an "adult date" . The service was exceptional ! per usual and Tudor was so sweet and attentive. We celebrated our anniversary a year later in the same spot and the staff and owners made our celebration beyond exceptional. The food, always on point and consistently good. You cannot go wrong when you become part of this Union.

Yelp
The owner of XES Bar created and left a unique, trendy modern space for Union Kitchen & Bar to use. With a few minor changes (obviously dining tables), it still looks great. The use of the front and beautiful back covered patios for dining really make the place stand out in Wilton Manors. We went for dinner on Labor Day weekend, and the place was packed. Instead of waiting for a table, we sat at the outdoor bar. We had our own friendly bartender and server all in one! Cocktails are not cheap (especially by Wilton Manors prices), but the wine list was fairly priced. I was surprised they didn't offer Chardonnay by the glass. Since they offer quite a few unusual wines from various locales, I decided to expand my horizons. The bartender let me sample an Austrian Grüner Veltliner from Landhaus Mayer. It's a light to medium bodied, dry white wine, and refreshing on a hot day. I ended up having 2 glasses at $9 a pop. With the restaurant full, we were worried that it would be a long time for appetizers and entrees to arrive, so at first we just ordered apps. We were pleasantly surprised that the kitchen kept up and we did not have to wait long at all. Friends said to try the small plates, so we ordered three: Crispy Pork Belly Tacos which I liked a lot because the crispy crunchiness of the skin; Grilled Octopus which was cooked to perfection and not chewy; Short Rib Arepas which were my favorite. Lots of Peruvian flavor with guac, lime sour cream and cilantro. The corn arepas added good texture to the dish. My entree was the Grilled Pork Chop. Many people have commented that the portions at Union are small. This entree was NOT small. It was a huge, thick chop and I couldn't finish it. For such a thick chop I was happy that it came out moist and tender! It was surrounded by cooked plum and cherry halves on a bed of arugula. So GOOD! I tried my friends' Seared Local Grouper and Peruvian Sea Bass entrees. When I come back, I'm getting the Sea Bass which comes with quinoa risotto. Price-wise, this is one of the more expensive restaurants in Wilton Manors, but you're also paying for the cool atmosphere and service. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
My huge portion of bronzino was cooked to perfection and served with delicious vegetables. My wife and demanding children thoroughly enjoyed the fish of the day. Even the foodie Inlaws were pleased.

Yelp
I love leaving a restaurant and not feeling like I over ate, but kinda wish I did. Everything I had at union kitchen and bar was perfectly seasoned and had me drooling for the next plate of food. Our server was attentive and always checked in on us, making sure everything was up to standard. The layout of the restaurant is cozy and has a fancy touch to it. I would HIGHLY recommend.

Yelp
So I have given Union Kitchen a few try's now, the food is indeed tasty and delicious but overpriced. The atmosphere is also cool and hip. The problem here is the front of house team. No communication. No follow through or follow up. Order placed but never entered and came back around 20 minutes later to ask if we wanted to place our order when we thought we had already. We mentioned it to the own as he showed us out and asked how things were which we shared. In one ear and out the other. Sadly it will not last running this badly.

Yelp
One of my all time restaurant/bar experiences I will forever remember. I will continue to go, but never forget that first experience. Christie, your food is a tastebud-worldly-symphony, and you have my utmost respect for that. You. Can. COOK! I wish i took better pictures, and I came more prepared, but I honestly walked in focused on spending quality time with close friends and my wife. Did not come here to work! The experience was too great, that I had to pivot. Needless to say, we walked in to this sleek yet homie, classy establishment with very respectful and joyful staff. That's something i can definitely appreciate. Soft orange bounce lighting with ambiance music you can vibe to. We went straight to the bar to have a drink before we sat down since it was happy hour. The drinks are well planned out, and you can tell the mixologist can keep up with the standard to match the quality of the food experience. If this was a boxing match, they've mastered the one-two punch wombo combo. Creative drinks you can't sleep on, because if you do, well, they sneak up on you, so you'll easily have to stay a while. Maybe something to try? Anyways... Ninja drinks! Before i make this any longer... the food! I almost want to not write anything so i can keep this place to myself, but I'll say this. The first bite of the braised short rib wonton (just saying that made me hungry. If it did the same for you, you need to at the very least make a reservation). You know those videos where you can hear and see the crunch on dough? Well, it was like that on the edges but soft as you get to the middle from the short ribs ready to come out and hug your taste buds with gifts of another world. It's an experience on it's on, as is the east and west (i'm a west man for sure) oysters. Glad to say I had my first oysters here. Now, we also had the chicken wings. Christie, you're a wizard! Chicken wings were crispy, yet they must of been brined before cooking, because they were not dry on the inside. Try them by themselves first because you'll appreciate a well mastered wing, and helps you appreciate the skill invested into the wing itself. Right before you dip it into the aji verde sauce! Creamy, smooth, subtle enough were the cilantro and jalapeños aren't fighting for attention but rather harmonizing. Remember, chef Christie is a music composer of taste buds! The dinner, i'm sorry, but i'm keep this one to myself. I had the tuna, and it was a battle to not eat it all and not take it home. Successfully, I was able to take it home for the leftover test, and this work of art remained a work of art the following day. With this experience, it got me to ask our waiter (forgive me you friendly and joyful human for forgetting your name) to ask for the chef. Food like this can't be left in the dark. I NEEDED to put a face to this beautiful experience. I was blessed, Chef Christie came out, shared with us her story and I truly applaud you and your husband for such a successful experience. I could taste the hispanic elevational-twist you brought to American food. I was that man that Saturday night who challenged you to make me some street tacos the next time I come, in which you agreed to! Be ready for my impromptu request for street tacos. Ladies and gentlemen, if you've made it this far through the review. You have to go here. It's fun. The environment makes you forget about the hustle of life and allows you to relax and surround yourself around mastered drinks and cuisine. If you go, let Chef Christie and Robert know Ashley recommended you to go here. Maybe by when i go next, I'll be a memorable face. Ha! Cheers everyone.

Yelp
We happened to be in the area and my gf was in desperate need of brussels sprouts. We made it to their happy hour and I was impressed of all the options. We had the crispy belly tacos, Peruvian chicken wings, deviled eggs, and the brussels sprouts. Everything was delicious and I will be coming back!
