One of my all time restaurant/bar experiences I will forever remember. I will continue to go, but never forget that first experience. Christie, your food is a tastebud-worldly-symphony, and you have my utmost respect for that. You. Can. COOK!
I wish i took better pictures, and I came more prepared, but I honestly walked in focused on spending quality time with close friends and my wife. Did not come here to work! The experience was too great, that I had to pivot.
Needless to say, we walked in to this sleek yet homie, classy establishment with very respectful and joyful staff. That's something i can definitely appreciate. Soft orange bounce lighting with ambiance music you can vibe to.
We went straight to the bar to have a drink before we sat down since it was happy hour. The drinks are well planned out, and you can tell the mixologist can keep up with the standard to match the quality of the food experience. If this was a boxing match, they've mastered the one-two punch wombo combo. Creative drinks you can't sleep on, because if you do, well, they sneak up on you, so you'll easily have to stay a while. Maybe something to try? Anyways... Ninja drinks!
Before i make this any longer... the food! I almost want to not write anything so i can keep this place to myself, but I'll say this. The first bite of the braised short rib wonton (just saying that made me hungry. If it did the same for you, you need to at the very least make a reservation). You know those videos where you can hear and see the crunch on dough? Well, it was like that on the edges but soft as you get to the middle from the short ribs ready to come out and hug your taste buds with gifts of another world. It's an experience on it's on, as is the east and west (i'm a west man for sure) oysters. Glad to say I had my first oysters here.
Now, we also had the chicken wings. Christie, you're a wizard! Chicken wings were crispy, yet they must of been brined before cooking, because they were not dry on the inside. Try them by themselves first because you'll appreciate a well mastered wing, and helps you appreciate the skill invested into the wing itself. Right before you dip it into the aji verde sauce! Creamy, smooth, subtle enough were the cilantro and jalapeños aren't fighting for attention but rather harmonizing. Remember, chef Christie is a music composer of taste buds!
The dinner, i'm sorry, but i'm keep this one to myself. I had the tuna, and it was a battle to not eat it all and not take it home. Successfully, I was able to take it home for the leftover test, and this work of art remained a work of art the following day.
With this experience, it got me to ask our waiter (forgive me you friendly and joyful human for forgetting your name) to ask for the chef. Food like this can't be left in the dark. I NEEDED to put a face to this beautiful experience. I was blessed, Chef Christie came out, shared with us her story and I truly applaud you and your husband for such a successful experience.
I could taste the hispanic elevational-twist you brought to American food. I was that man that Saturday night who challenged you to make me some street tacos the next time I come, in which you agreed to! Be ready for my impromptu request for street tacos.
Ladies and gentlemen, if you've made it this far through the review. You have to go here. It's fun. The environment makes you forget about the hustle of life and allows you to relax and surround yourself around mastered drinks and cuisine.
If you go, let Chef Christie and Robert know Ashley recommended you to go here. Maybe by when i go next, I'll be a memorable face. Ha! Cheers everyone.
