The Union square Night Market has come to New York city. It offers a little bit of everything from chocolates, sandwiches, crepes, rolls, grilled meat and chicken to paintings, crafts, plush toys, woven plants in baskets and more. More than 30 vendors and local small businesses, from late May to October, every Thursday and Friday from 12 noon to 10pm provide a pleasant evening for those who like to spend their evenings outdoor in the city.

The Union Square Night Market by Urban Space started last Thursday and runs through for a few weeks. This is only on Thursdays from 12 to 9 pm. Thirty food kiosks with a variety of tasty foods that can be eaten easily are available. From tacos, empanadas, gelato, pina colada drinks, German sausages to name a few these are just the kind of foods people stop to see and choose. Last week I ate Indonesian satays of pork, beef and chicken which were tender and tasty. Today I went again and ate two tacos from the celebrated Birria Landia. Beef and chicken tacos - mouthwatering and at $5.50 each a steal. Perfect for both residents and tourists there are a few tables thankfully with standing umbrellas for shade or the park benches nearby. What will best next week?

Yelp
Side note: Unsure why but there's no listing of the 30-ish vendors here with the page that's supposed to list them being a 404. Open till October 18th, this is a new little night market from Urbanspace though the word "night market" isn't super accurate as they're open from 12:00 to 10:00 PM. Compared to the other actual night markets in Queens and the Bronx, this one of course is much more expensive because it's Urbanspace but hey it's nice to have a new place. There's plenty of spots you'll find at other similar markets but a couple new things that I haven't had before. I decided to try a coffee from the Vietnamese place 88 Coffee. I got a Cà Phê Sữa Đá or in short, a Vietnamese style iced coffee made with condensed milk which was I believe around $7 or so. This was definitely to my style with the coffee being strong but not too much so and it wasn't too sweet from the condensed milk. They're also was just enough ice that it was cold but not too much. It was very tasty in short. Otherwise there's an Indonesian spot I've only seen at Smorgasburg which is excellent from a previous try as well as Mama's Cupboard which is otherwise available on 53rd Street and a few other good looking places. The prices are a tad high here and I heavily prefer the Queen's Night Market but it's a fun new option.

Yelp
Stumbled upon the Union Square Night Market while walking through the park on a Thursday evening. As a big fan of outdoor food markets, I was excited to see one pop up in Union Square for the summer. The Night Market is open on Thursdays and Fridays from noon to 10pm. For such a compact space, there's a great variety of vendors offering different types of food. After checking out the options, I went with a braised chicken arepa and a pork belly & sweet plantain empanada from Ehbra Colombian Food. The total came to $19, which felt like a solid deal given the portion size and quality. There are picnic tables set up around the vendors, so it was nice not having to eat on a park bench.

Yelp
Despite Night part of the name ,this market is actually open during the day as well on Thurs and Fridays. So in addition to the Farmer's Market this one there for all your summer noshing needs. Communal picnic style tables provided so there's actually somewhere to sit and your food. Craft and jewelry and other novelty items are available as well. Its basically the summer version of the holiday market. A great selection of food choices and some of our favorite brick and mortar restaurants have stalls here. If you plan on staying there's a dj or other music . Bathroom options the park bathroom ( entrance closer to 15th and Broadway)

Yelp
Last Friday the popular Union Square Night Market opened. This year there are more stalls with a variety of foods. The ones that were there last year are here too. I had a good look and then had the barbecued pork on a stick for $4. I sat to eat it and as usual there was no umbrella shade but thankfully it was not too hot. This time I needed a magnifying glass as the meat was so tiny. I could have taken the plumper chicken but wanted a change. The arepas also looks tasty but I was also observing prices which have needlessly to say skyrocketed. My income has not.
