Miori I.
Yelp
The only place I will buy Filipino empanadas from. Sooo good!
Old school Filipino bakery on Sunset in a Silverlake neighborhood taken over by hipsters. The bakery is literally now surrounding by coffee shops, little cafes, and all things hipster. It's a definitely hidden gem.
Parking can be a little difficult since the streets are crowded with pedestrians, especially on the weekend. If you can manage to get into the tiny parking lot in front of the bakery, you'll have to be extremely careful getting back out. You're better off finding street parking around the corner.
The bakery is family owned and I swear the same two people have always worked the counter. The friendliest people. They offer Filipino snacks, pastries, treats, cakes, and even offer catering. I've had several parties catered in the past and have been thoroughly satisfied with all their dishes (palabok, pancit, turon, and so much more). Nowadays, what I come in for most is fresh empanadas. There's nothing like a warm, freshly baked empanada from United. Golden, sweet and flaky on the outisde, warm and savory on the inside.
If you know, you know. And if you haven't had United, you're missing out!
