Our United flight from Houston to Louisville was one of the worst travel experiences I’ve ever had. We sat trapped on the plane for over 2.5 hours because the pilot shut down the aircraft’s computer, leaving the plane completely dark just before departure. Instead of letting passengers deplane, we were forced to remain on board while the plane briefly joined the departure line, only to return to a gate for maintenance to reboot the system. Even then, we were not allowed off, and the plane was powered down again, leaving us sitting in the heat with no airflow. The delay, discomfort, and complete lack of communication were unacceptable. To make matters worse, United did nothing meaningful to remedy the situation, only offering a token amount of miles that won’t even cover another flight. This shows a complete disregard for passenger safety, comfort, and accountability.
