No Us Without You Is Feeding the Essential Workers Who’ve Fed Us | Bon Appétit
"A local relief federation provided $50,000 in rent-relief funds that were distributed as hand-delivered $1,000 checks to 50 of the most-in-need families served by the program." - ByOthón Nolasco, as told to Aliza Abarbanel
Update to previous review: Today, Tony from United Way LA responded to yesterday's phone call. I am grateful for their understanding and resolution to my mistaken donation. I am impressed with their attention to my concern.

I was trying to donate to another organization, but the United Way site popped up. Not realizing it was the wrong site, I made a donation. I realized it immediately and tried to contact them. They do not respond to phone calls or email messages. This does not seem to be the modus operandi of a reputable organization. Donors beware.

Where is the United Way during the California Wildfires? Supposedly working with the Rams and CBS2, but what are they ACTUALLY doing? I've known needy people in the past that been turned away with no help at all.
Wonder how many UW workers will be at the Rams game on free tickets though?
They could at least answer their phones at times of trouble. Unacceptable. Find a good charity to support.

Donated a number of antiques to United Way which came to pick everything up once the appraiser was finished with his report. We used St Lucie Appraisal from Fort Pierce, FL who was lightning fast in getting the online appraisal done. They came up with equitable fair market value for everything and filled out the tax forms as well. Job well done by all concerned.

Conference rooms are nice to have meetings in. Parking is scare so get there early. One of the eateries had some good chilli.

Nice building! The only thing I don't like is they make you take the escalator if you're only going to the 4th floor! I don't understand it. Kind of makes me feel second-rate

Great organization, doing meaningful work. Dont just pop up to visit, security and elevator access is a bit strict.

Yelp
Came for a meeting. It was a very nice space. Had all the amenities we needed and staff, although we didn't see a ton of them, were really good to us. We ate there as well and they didn't have half bad food.
Best to get there via public transportation. I was luckily staying down the street so I could just walk there. I tried one day to drive there but finding parking is tough and expensive. Someone told me that they have parking on site but it's not that big and not worth it especially if you're not there by 830am. Security is present and they have to buzz you up to the floor you want via the elevator.

I worked at the United Way of Greater Los Angeles about 20 years ago. All they cared about was raising money with little thought given to what kind of programs the funds supported.

11/17/07 - On that day, I, along with more than 5,000 volunteers from companies across L.A. County participated in a noncompetitive 5K walk, raising awareness and money for the fight against homelessness. It was super hot and crowded and definitely not the best day to be running, but it was fun to see such a huge turnout for a great cause. Kudos!
