Enjoying sushi in Tsukiji at Uni-Tora, a well-known restaurant famous for its premium sea urchin, even featured in the first auction of the season 2016. Tucked away inside the MIHIRO Building, Uni-Tora Honten Hanare offers an immersive experience the moment you step inside — the entire building feels like a paradise for uni lovers. We had the pleasure of using the space as a private reservation, which made the evening even more special. The star of the night was, of course, uni — including a luxurious comparison of three different types. Sushi was prepared at a comfortable pace for the guests, and there was also an impressive variety of à la carte dishes. The concept of enjoying “what you like, when you like” adds a relaxed yet refined rhythm to the meal. Thoughtful pairings and creative touches highlighted the chef’s depth of experience. With its intimate sushi counter and exceptional quality, this is a restaurant I would confidently recommend for private gatherings, special occasions, and hosting international guests. A private booking is highly recommended to fully appreciate the experience. The main restaurant also offers more casual options such as uni rice bowls, which makes it tempting to return for a relaxed visit next time.

Thought it would be crowded but randomly got 2 seats upstair with like a few minute wait. It's about 11am and we already ate from other shops already so we're not hungry. Just want to try the famous uni :) Got 3 uni in my bowl. Cant remember which one I like. They're all different you can tell. Fish taste standard. You need 1 order per 1 person so my friend ordered oysters because she doesn't eat sashimi. Overall is good but don't bother waiting.

Unitora is a dream for uni lovers. The uni here is seriously good, rich, creamy, and incredibly fresh. They offer both Bafun and Murasaki uni, and you can really taste the difference in sweetness and depth. Every bite just melts in your mouth. The bowl was generous and beautifully balanced with ikura, negitoro, and a perfect egg yolk, while the uni sushi was pure indulgence with clean, well-seasoned rice. Simple, high quality ingredients done right. If you love uni, this place is an absolute must.

Tsukiji Unitora Nakadori is always a must-visit for me. Need I say more! Their uni don is absolutely amazing and never disappoints. It is rich, fresh, and just pure happiness in a bowl. The price recently went up from 11,000 yen to 13,000 yen, but honestly, it still feels worth every yen. I went around 8 a.m. and could walk in without waiting, which was a nice bonus. If you love uni, this place is an experience you should not miss.

In the heart of Tsukiji market, a place to enjoy uni and/or tuna. As I sat in the restaurant, tuna and other fish didn't seem all too fresh. I ordered uni taster. Very fresh, but a lot of rice and couldn't find something special for its reputation and price. No complaints with the uni's quality.

We went as a group of three and ordered different dishes to try. The uni and fish were incredibly fresh, and the taste was just amazing. One of the uni pieces was so sweet and unforgettable (I can’t remember the name, but it was definitely worth trying!). Overall, it was such a delicious experience. I enjoyed every bite and would love to come back again. 🤟🏻

We had a great time here! We were late 25 mins for our reservation because our flight was delayed and arrived late to Tokyo, but this restaurant was very accommodating! They were able to seat us right away when we finally arrived. The food was delicious and fresh!!! My boyfriend gets a bad stomach every time he eats raw seafood thats not fresh but he was completely fine after our visit to Tsukiji Unitora Nakadori! Tried different types of uni and they all tasted amazing! This restaurant was the perfect start to our trip in Japan!

We arrived 15 minutes before the shop opens and the shop was quickly filled up with customers after 07:00. We were seated at the bar area where you could observe the chef handmade all the seafood dons. Chef would refer to the card and briefly introduce the various types of sea urchin in the don as well. The seafood was all very delicious and tasted fresh. I personally did not feel too heavy to have this as breakfast.

Located in the Tsukiji outer market! They have a downstairs dining area as well as upstairs. We got led upstairs where it was more quiet and was a whole sushi bar area. We ordered some uni tuna bowls as well as the uni flight. The flight comes with 5 different kinds of uni and they legit all had a different texture and taste. Super fresh and chilled. They also had a special that day of oysters that they put in a basket in front of the sushi bar. We also ordered two of those. It was super cool watching the chef cut everything so delicately and with ease for the bowls. If you want to try different types of uni this place is definitely worth a try.

Tsukiji Unitora Nakadori was recommended to me as the place to get the best uni so we went early in the morning. I had heard that there would be long lines if you didn't get there before they opened. However, we arrived at around 8:30am on a Friday morning and fortunately there was no line. They actually have two floors which helps in case one is full and we were escorted to the second floor. We ordered the bluefin tuna and sea urchin don, sea urchin 5 specialties don, medium fatty tuna and salmon sashimi. The uni and the tuna were delicious and melted in my mouth. They had different types of uni where are produced in different areas and they were all good. This was definitely a pricier meal compared to the stuff that you can get just outside at the street stalls. We noticed mostly foreigners dining here if that is something that might detract you from visiting. However, if you're a fan of uni this is definitely a place to check out. If you like it but don't love it, you might not find this place to be worth the money.

This is the place to get uni if you are at the Tsukiji fish market. Uni is one of those edibles that you cannot compromise in terms of being fresh right out of the ocean. Living in NYC, the best Uni isn't always available because the best Uni is from Japan. Japanese Uni are unique, there's a certain umami flavor and creamy texture as a result of the rich ecosystem that surrounds the country supporting this plump, rich, umami filled Uni. There were supposedly 5 different varieties of Uni on the menu but I think there was one three-four on my bowl. Sitting at the bar I for one of my visits was greatly entertaining and enlightening. If you get a chance to visit, sit at the bar. That experience is so much greater than sitting as a table top. I usually don't goto the same restaurant twice on vacation but this was an exception. I'll probably never have Uni this fresh and clean unless I make another trip to Japan.

We ordered the uni tuna bowls and the uni flight, which came with five different types of uni, each one had its own unique flavor and texture. Everything was incredibly fresh, chilled, and beautifully presented. They also had a special that day featuring fresh oysters displayed in a basket right in front of the sushi bar, we ordered two, and they were amazing! It was fascinating to watch the chef work so precisely and gracefully as he prepared each bowl. If you want to explore different kinds of uni and enjoy top-quality seafood in Tsukiji, this is the perfect spot to do it.

Came from the social media hype and was pleasantly surprised/ got lucky that there was no line up at all when I came since people are waiting over 2 hours for this meal. It's known for their kaisendon bowls and is located inside the Tsukiji market. It's quite hidden, so make sure to navigate correctly on your maps. Upon arriving, the staff gave me 3 options for dining. Options were to 1. wait to sit on the first floor counter top where the chefs are, 2. sit on the first floor counter top where you are facing a wall (no views of the chefs) OR 3. sit upstairs in their new dining room with a counter top, views of the chefs working and with air conditioning. Since it's so hot in Japan, I went with the air conditioning option even though it's an additional 10% charge added to your final bill. The upstairs is definitely newly built and so beautiful inside compared to the first ground floor. Greeted by the chefs we sat down and ordered 2 bowls: 3 types of uni with negitoro and ikura 5/5 - This was so delicious with the 3 types of different uni. It's topped with a raw egg yolk. This was not only beautifully presented but also so delicious, fresh and creamy. Comes at a steep price of 6,500 yen but quite worth it for the amount of premium seafood you get. Eel and uni 4/5 - My partner opted for the cooked eel since he's not into too much of the raw stuff. It was delicious with the eel sauce but can probably skip. Definitely opt for the raw bowls if you're into that instead. Overall a great experience especially with the elevated dining room compared to the first floor.

The food is so good and to die for. Scallops were tender, fish melts in your mouth, unagi not to sweet and the uni, and everything else was so fresh. The miso with crab was perfect on a cold Tokyo morning.

I was so surprised to find out later (after my trip) that this is one of the most hyped up stalls from Tsukiji Market (100% worth the hype though), and I'm so glad I was able to try out this spot with no wait at all, and a lovely view at the sushi bar of the chefs preparing every order! They specialize in chirashi bowls that are filled to the brim with preselected seafoods. I opted for one with chopped up Toro (tuna belly), two types of uni, and ikura. My boyfriend's mom ordered the most impressive bowl, which came with snow crab claws, sweet shrimp, Hotate (scallop), ikura and uni, and every seafood we tried was extremely fresh and impeccably prepared. Each bowl also came with a complementary bowl of miso soup, although I highly recommend opting for the crab miso soup for an extra 500 yen. The chefs and wait staff were all very sweet and attentive, taking the time to explain every dish and the ingredients in English. Highly recommend checking them out if you're in Tsukiji (they're located outside of the actual fish market and have lots of signs showing how to find them)!

I saw a video about this place on Tik Tik so I had it saved for my trip to Japan in Dec of 2023. When I got there I stumbled upon the advertisement pic and food outside. The line was fairly short because it was barely 7 am. we decided to give it a try and stood in line. Since it was the holiday - the wait was an hour even with a short line. 1st time here, I tried the uni bowl with diced toro and it was the perfect balance of seafood. The toro and uni was super fresh! the unj melted in your mouth. it didn't even tasted gamy. There were 3 different types of uni in the bowl with different color and it came from different regions. My favorite was the yellow one. The red and darker orange tasted pungent and it wasn't my cup of tea. The 2nd time I came here was in Jan of 2024 since I had stayed for the holidays on my trip. The line was so short and it was probably a 30 mins wait. It's probably because everyone had to go back to school or work so it wasn't as busy. This time around I got the uni platter and boy was it uni galore! It was so good that I got sick of it towards the end lol! The mixture of uni and other seafood was a good in between so you don't get tired of it toward the end. Nonetheless, I def got my uni filled before coming back to the states. 10/10 recommend!

I believe the time we visited was the only place without a long lane, so we decided to give it a try. I found it delightful how everyone patiently waited to be seated, and the waiter promptly directed us to our table. It was very obvious that everyone had their phones ready to capture the moment. Although I had sea urchins before, I never imagined how refreshing they could be. Each bite was incredibly delicious and elevated the taste of the rice. 10 out 10!

Service was real good and friendly, We couldn't decide what to get but ended up with the Emperor plate that had 6 different Uni's. They explained all of the Uni we had and regions. We lined up early to make sure to be one of the first ones when they open. We've heard that the line gets cut off by the restaurant because the line gets too long. Highly recommend coming if you're an Uni fan. Wait can be 30minutes to 1 hour.

in the heart of Tsukiji Fish Market, there are couple places like this offer similar stuff. this one has a big sign outside right by street, you can see a lot of people line up. the line is long but moves fast. just have to patient to wait, it's just like all other places in this market, just over populated. I waited for about 30mins to be seated middle of the morning around 9am. I got drawn into the uni bowl with whole bowl of 3 different kind of uni, but when i waited in the line I changed my mind to change to a different bowl, think that if it's only uni there's no variety and also it's very pricy. i got the bowl with uni , ikura and otoro, which is very satifying. the bowl isnt' big but the ingredients are very fresh. its definitely not cheap but worth the hype.

So so fresh super yummy will 100% go again! This was the only place I saw that had a decent amount of uni in their rice bowls but was much more expensive than other places Came with miso soup! ¥5300

I got here at 6am, which was way too early but I didn't mind the morning fresh air. It wasn't until 6:45 when the line started picking up. I remember a party of three came by and saw that it was only me on the line and decided to come back later, thinking it wasn't going to pick up. However, the line really did pick up in no time. Restaurant opens exactly at 7 and they let around 3 parties in. The chef doesn't let anyone else in until all the diners are served what they ordered. The restaurant has around 8 seats, so even if you only have 5-10 people in front of you, expect to wait around 40 or more minutes! I got the 9600 uni donburi with 5 types of uni. It was incredibly fresh and paired perfectly with the egg yolk to enhance its creaminess! The chef also educated us about which uni is which, as well as where it is from. This place is a must-try despite its priciness! Definitely worth trying at least once! So if you don't want to wait in line for an hour or more, definitely just come a little earlier, it'll give you even more time to try other things! (: Thank you for reading and good luck!

Located at the Tsukiji Fish Market, Unitora Kurau was one of the top restraurants I wanted to check out. I got there around 9am and there was a line out the door. The restaurant was quite cozy inside. Waited for around an hour to be seated and got served the most delicious uni, salmon roe & tuna bowl. Killed it in 5 minutes. Yes it was that good! Definitely worth the hour wait in my opinion. If you don't want to wait then make sure to go half an hour to an hour before they open!

Definitely get here before 8am if you dont want to wait 2+ hrs. We came right at 8am and waited around 1.5hrs before we were seated. Good thing is that there's lots of little stands if you don't want to be hangry waiting in line! The main restaurant is all counter seating only, for 8. At one point they started seating others in other portions of other restaurants to help manage with the line. We were seated in the main restaurant so we got to the them make it all. It's just something unique and fun to be able to sit at the counter and watch the chefs. We went with the Miyabi Don, which has 5 kinds of uni from Japan, and the bowl with 3 types of uni with ikura, chopped tuna, and a raw egg to top it. The Miyabi is insane as it is the 5 best of the day. Are they really different? I think so and I think it's worth trying it out. The other bowl offers a bit of a break from uni with tuna and ikura and you still get to try three kinds of very good uni. Be sure to have them explain what each uni is! We also ordered chuutoro sashimi on the side and it's just mouthwatering deliciousness. Don't be ashamed if you want to order a beer early in the morning to wash it down! Would I wait for it again next time? Probably if it wasn't over an hour wait. While tasty, we did lose a lot of time we could've used for exploring the market, because by the time we were done, the crowd was everywhere. Probably don't go to your doc and get an exam after cause I'm sure the cholesterol level going to be crazy high!

Amazing uni spot in Tsukiji Outer Market and completely worth the wait and money. We got here around 11am and waited ~45 minutes in line before we were seated at the counter. We ordered the uni tasting (5 types of uni - 4 from Hokkaido and 1 from Miyagi) and a toro & ikura rice bowl. The uni was portioned well even though it was each only one spoonful. I'm not sure which was my favorite because all of it tasted super fresh. The rice bowl was delicious as well.

A very popular establishment known for their Uni bowls at the Tsukiji fish market. There is a long long line. I was there early. Hours..... they have another location about 200 meters away. Same food same menu but a smaller location with no line. A lady went through the line and offered seats at the location with no line. I was almost at the front of the line maybe 3 more groups ahead of me but I didn't want to wait any longer. You go there and of course you try the Uni bowl. They offer a variety of choices. Uni with tuna, Uni by itself, Uni variety bowl with Uni from different regions. That is what I opted for. You could have also got Uni from the different regions on spoons. The Uni was creamy, sweet and delightful. It was not cheap but something you must do. My wife got the Uni bowl with Tuna. She is not an Uni fan but she knew that is what you go there to try.

This place is awesome. I had the #4) Hon-maguro medium fatty tuna don with japanese uni. Cost 3880yen. Thats about $38.80. Quality and freshness was there. However, I cant get full out of this so time to go hunt more food! :) They have a 2 table private dining which was nice since it separated you from the hustle and bustle. My friend had the #7) sea urchin from japan and chopped tuna don 3740 yen which was really good as well.

How this place is not 5 stars is beyond me. Yes I have a bias towards Uni and its near impossible to see this volume in the states obviously so perhaps some of that plays here. When you are in Tsukiji Market, it really is difficult to figure out where are the spots to hit up without being caught in a touristy trap. I myself had to do some research online to figure out where would be best. We made our way over here in the AM the night after flying into Tokyo for a Uni Breakfast as it was something I had been craving ever since buying my plane ticket 8 months earlier. I did some research the day before on the plane while enjoying my Hibiki 17 and found a place I was looking for. I clearly underestimated the confusing alleyways of Tsukiji despite having been there at least 5 times in my life thus far and could not end up finding it. While despair was starting to fill my heart, I went down a smaller alleyway and was able to run right into this place. There was a small counter but there was also a private dining room in the back which had two tables. It was not even 11 Am so it was still empty for the taking. These guys definitely do not speak much English so be ready to point at menus and hold up fingers for the quantities of what you want. Thankfully they stuck it out with my despite my very poor Japanese and was able to get seated with menus in head. There were many options to get as many different variations of fish you want and when you are in one of the best markets of the world, what else would you expect. I was obviously drawn right to the Uni Bowls and had the 3 different types of Uni while ordering another bowl which had a combination of Uni and tuna. I mean you honestly cant get this quantity or quality anywhere so it was just amazingly delicious. Literally inhaled my meal and was almost tempted to order another one because it was just that delicious. The damage was slightly over $100 dollars which I know sounds expensive but you are literally getting heaps of Uni and probably some of the freshest Uni I have tasted ever. Make sure to check this joint out when you are in Tsukiji and you will not be disappointed.

Came here to start our day out at Tsukiji with a uni and uni/ikura don breakfast. It was very tasty. The top of the rice was covered with ikura and uni and it was so what I wanted. The menu set comes with miso soup and it was very satisfying.. Then it was to top off our tummies with more seafood in the inter and outer markets.

Whoa! This place is literally everything uni! They have different variety of uni bowls. I picked one that had 3 types of uni from Japan and 2 overseas. My boyfriend got a bowl full of the 3 types from Japan. Honestly, I don't know why I picked a bowl with ones from oveeseas, c'mon now, you're in Japan Sony! The 2 overseas ones were not good :(... the other 3 were so delicious and I was in uni heaven!! This is literally tucked in an alley, and the best way to describe it is "Find the stand with scallop and uni on top, and go down that alley!" The restaurant sign is in Japanese, but there were pictures of uni bowls on a sign board in front, and we asked the lady in front that worked there... yup, found it!! Bring cash, it's cash only and it's pretty expensive... two bowls and a small sake bottle for about 13,000 yen.

Very satisfying Tuna and Uni-don! We sat at the "back alley" of the restaurant and were able to have peace and quiet in the middle of Tsukiji Market to enjoy our early lunch. I ordered the "3 types of tuna" + Uni + Ikura"-don. I highly recommend upgrading the Canadian Uni to Hokaido ones for a surcharge. It is a big difference. Our Itamae was fantastic - very professional while holding a subdued composure. I love this place!

This shop offers a variety of uni don. If you are a fan of uni, this is for you. They carry varieties of uni from inside Japan and outside. Four stars only because the portion of uni is smaller than the pictures shown on the menu. Normally Japanese menu is fairly accurate and a good representation of what you will get in both look and portion. The price is fairly steep but I was willing to pay for it if I get the same as what was shown on the menu. I had the 5 types of Japanese uni don and they were all fresh and have different degrees of sweetness to them. A great uni don for someone who wants to try different kinds of uni from different region in Japan.

This was a hard decision with all the small food stalls around. You need to turn into a small walk way to get into this restaurant. It is a nice place for you to sit and eat peacefully without all the hussle and bussle on the streets. But right in front of the restaurant in the alley way, you see a long stall with different types of Uni. Varying from 250-1000 yen you get Uni inside the shell! Hard to resist. And right before you turn into the alley way, you see stalls grilling Uni on top of scallops! For 1000 yen as well! You got to decide now, do you want to try a variety of food in the market, or eat a fancy dish. Obviously, I ended up eating at the restaurant. We got in, they have a coat rack and bag storage below your chair. There was only 6 customers out of the 15 seats. One chef is behind the sushi bar preparing the food. You will see him scoop the variety of Uni and create your dish. The menu allows you to order many types of Uni. They have a 5 type of domestic Uni for 5980yen ranging to 2 types of domestic and 3 overseas Uni for 4280yen. They have Uni with Fatty Tuna as well costing 6000yen. I got 8 pieces of large slices of Fatty Tuna with that dish. My friend got the 2 domestic and 3 overseas, and I really liked the domestic Uni. So sweet and flavorful. One of the overseas Uni didn't have any flavor. It was a Uni overload. I was wondering if the large pieces were from Santa Barbara or not but they tasted different. My Toro was smooth and tasty. Pictures explain for themselves here. The damage came out to be $100 USD. This is a steal for all that Uni. My next trip will be trying the street food. Go early before all the crowds show up.

If you love uni, this is the restaurant for you. They have English menus, can speak decent English, and best of all, are super friendly. My boyfriend and I went at night on a Tuesday around 8pm and we were seated immediately. The restaurant was about 75% full. There is a bowl with 5 kinds of uni from Japan. I love uni but too much of it is too rich for me. I got #4 on the menu which is 2 kinds of uni and medium fatty tuna over rice. I was disappointed that the tuna was already pre sliced and pulled from the refrigerator - what the heck? That's the reason why I only gave 4 stars and not 5. Even though it wasn't freshly cut, it was DELICIOUS. If you're deciding between uni + one of the tuna options (fatty tuna, medium fatty tuna, regular tuna, or mixed fatty + regular tuna), I would go with the medium fatty tuna. I tried my boyfriend's fatty tuna and it was good but way too rich. I ate one piece and it was enough. I could eat a lot of the medium fatty tuna though :) My boyfriend got the mixed tuna plate and he loved it. I noticed that they spent way more time preparing his dish than mine. They sliced all his fish fresh so I'm still wondering why they didn't do that for my tuna. Both dishes were about $35USD each. The couple next to us ordered a monkfish hot pot soup for $20USD which looked delicious but we were too full. I highly recommend this spot to fellow uni lovers!

If you love uni, this is a must-visit place when in Japan! We were super jetlagged and overslept for our morning visit to tsukiji market, but we really wanted to get some fresh seafood before we left. Thank goodness that Unitora opens for dinner! It's a bit difficult to find since it is on a side street, and it is the only place open ont he street while everything else is closed. The entrance is right next to the place with a giant crab decoration. Once you find the entrance, you need to walk up some stairs to the restaurant. They have all sorts of uni bowls, and local uni from Japan and imported uni from elsewhere. They have a bowl with 5 kinds of uni from Japan if you're that crazy for uni. I ended up ordering the uni and toro bowl. For bowls that specify it is imported uni, you can add money and request local japanese uni. The uni and toro were so delicious! And it comes with a bowl of crab miso soup! Definitely a must visit when in Japan. And they take credit card!

This place was our first dinner last night. My daughter had Maguro Toro Don and I had Kaisen Hitumabushi. They were both delicious beyond words.

Probably the best uni I've ever had. Little hard to find but japanese people are always willing to help out. Definitely eat downstairs if you're a foreigner... theres a super nice lady that speaks fluent english

Pretty disappointed in this. Saw it on a friends facebook feed so the wife and I had to try it out. Food was ok but considering the location, there are much better ways to get a good deal. Would recommend trying lots of different places instead of blowing your money at this one place.

This place was very disappointing. The pictures on the menu looks completely different from the actual meal. It is much smaller than I thought. Miso soup came with the meal but it was soooo tiny. I could drink with one sip. Walk further towards market. There are many more sushi places that are better.
