Universal Joint Lawrenceville

Though I live in Lawrenceville this is the first time I have finally given this place a try. I would give the food a complete five stars but since this is my first time there and I've only had one dish I can't fully give it completely five stars though what I ordered was very good. I tried out the patty melt and tater tots. The sandwich was very good and the customer service from our hostess Ashley, was very nice. The atmosphere was cute and intimate as we sat in the booths along the wall. There are TVs about to watch "the game". I will definitely come back and try something else.

This place has been in downtown Lawrenceville for a hot minute. I finally got around to trying it. The food was exceptionally good. I personally felt like it was a generous amount of food for a decent price. I will definitely be back. Great menu options with a variety of drinks. Our waitress Ashley was friendly :)

We stopped in for lunch and a beer. Busy neighborhood spot near the Lawrenceville square with a solid bar and a covered patio. Cold beer, quick pour, and a strong tap list.  Queso and salsa landed first. Fresh chips, clean flavor, good heat. I had the 4 oz smash burger with fries. Great sear, soft bun, fries stayed crisp. My wife ordered the quesadilla with fries. Plenty of filling and a good cheese pull. We were both happy. Service moved fast and stayed friendly. Prices felt fair for the quality. I will be back the next time I’m in town. If you like patios, craft beer, and burgers, put Universal Joint Lawrenceville on your list.

We have come here on occasion, especially during football season or the weeks when we know that we want good food quickly before school the next day for our kids. We came here specifically for national burger day where I chose the delicious turkey burger with avocados. The turkey burgers are handmade in House and I was blessed to have the last one for the evening. When we walked in, we were immediately seated and able to order and receive our food just before our kids got cranky! Everyone got a chance to eat what they wanted and we enjoyed the rest of our evening walking through downtown Lawrenceville.

Chill casual vibe with nice ambiance. There’s live band on weekends. Nice place to hangout with friends. The staff were friendly. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. You can also enjoy at bar with their wide range of drinks. We tried their drinks and they were good. The food was top notch. Both spicy egg rolls and arugula mushroom quesadilla were delicious. Definitely going back to try other items of the menu. Recommended!

Great service and the food was delicious! Husband had the bacon cheddar burger. I had the firecracker burger, I think it could have been a little more spicy, but that's a personal choice. We ordered the lemon pepper wings and they were crispy and flavorful! And their home made blue cheese was out of this world!!! We went back a second time this week. It has definitely become one of our go to spots!

Didn't get our waitress name...she ignored us most of the visit. Someone told us bc she had a big party. Who knows...it took a while but other waiters dropped in to take of us since they saw we weren't being serviced. Food was good though. Brought a friend for the 1st time...not a good experience for her, but I assured her service is not usually like this.

We showed up on a Friday night around 7:00 and saw the “Seat Yourself” sign. We walked through the restaurant to an open table and saw several servers smile at us. We sat down and waited 15 minutes while servers walked past and smiled, one even said she’d get someone for us, but no one even got us a water or drink. We got up and left, still seemingly unnoticed. We went across the street to another restaurant with some of the best service we’ve had. Do not recommend Universal Joint.

Quick lunch bite...cheese curds were absolutely delicious and the chicken sandwich I had was juicy and decent. The philly was also had and was good.overall the food was quick and good. I would recommend

We came here on a Saturday night and sat on the patio where they were playing live music with our two pups. It was great that they are super dog friendly, brought out a nice big bowl of water and sat us in a corner. The customer service was great, the host was super friendly and our waitress was very accommodating. I was indecisive on a cider (triple jam cider) and the draft cocktail (lavender lemonade) which she allowed me to try both before I picked. By the way, the Bold Triple Jam Cider is super delicious!! On to the food... they have quite a bit of selection we choose a California Burger (we ordered medium well, but it came out well, well done) however the flavor was there but the "micro greens" they placed on top was a bit old (check out the pic) and they didn't need to add it. However, the universal fries... we felt like it was missing half of the order.. for $11 it was literally a hand full of fries, smothered in scallions/ cut up jalapeños... it was lacking actual fries, cheese and bacon. So, this was really disappointing. Overall, we would give them another try.

I was there in a Friday night and they were pretty busy we were lucky to find 2 chairs at the bar. We sat down and the bartender was awesome. She was friendly, patient and helpful as we decided on what to order. The bar is a cool chill spot with music some people started to dance at one point. There is no dance floor but people managed with the space.

This is one of a few Universal Joints in GA. This one is located in downtown LV right in the heart of all the fun! It's always crowded but worth the wait...besides you will not be waiting for too long. There is tons of indoor and outdoor seating and enough staff to take care of everyone. It's a pretty place with parking (a little tight but manageable). The food is great and very well priced. There are tons of local beer options available as well as cocktails. The patio is dog friendly and the staff will bring water for them. Very nice place !

Always great food here- we come all the time! We sat inside- a little chilly out today, but we were by the rolling doors & had warm sun on our faces. Our server, Andrew has been working here for a few yrs now & he was very nice & attentive! I ordered the fish tacos & Andrew asked if I wanted to swap chips/salsa for another side, which I did for their Arugula Salad with Italian & Ranch dressing's (I mix 'em). See pics- LITERALLY DELICIOUS- Everything!! Exactly what I wanted, fresh & zingy with the citrus under tones. So satisfying!! With all this greatness comes a negative & I hate this... this place is cozy, great staff & clearly great grub, but the furniture needs to be SCRUBBED or better yet, burned & replaced. They have wood tables, the bar I believe is wood as are the chairs. A fresh new set of everything would be fantastic. Ours was sticky & layers of patrons past were deep. We will keep coming, but time for an upgrade on the interior. Costs are always very reasonable & this is very VERY appreciated by those of us who feel this is our neighborhood joint for a great meal & not take out a 2nd mortgage. See ya again soon, U-Joint

Please excuse the lack of pictures for this review. I just happen to have dope friends and I enjoy our outings in real time. Lol Brunch at UJ was wonderful. We took advantage of the patio seating to enjoy the weather and downed our bottomless mimosas. Bottomless meaning you get a bottle of champagne in an ice bucket with a small carafe of orange juice. Perfect way to serve mimosa in my opinion. I also had the chicken salad sandwich. It was refreshing. Not the best chicken salad I've had, but it was well put together, the bread was fresh, and the cucumber side salad was a perfect compliment. I would absolutely return to try other menu options. Great vibe for Sunday brunch. I can't remember if there was music or not, but they do have live entertainment on some evenings. This will be my summer hangout

The food here is surprisingly good. Their salads are fresh and tasty. The Universal fries are great paired with a cold beer. Drinks are good too, and this is one of the few bars open late in this area. It can get really loud and rowdy late at night, and the limited bartenders can make service a bit slow (not their fault because it's also busy), but it's still a good place to go grab a drink and hang out, meet new people.

With quite a few options to choose from when eating in downtown Lawrenceville, we went for a spot that had a wide variety of food. From burgers to salads and sandwiches, this spot can get any water in your party something to eat no problem! I ordered a Turkey pita club and my husband the special burger for burger week, and both were tasty and flavorful although nothing exceptional. We did like the ambience of an old garage and liked how it was decorated.the staff was professional and kind, and seemed to be invested in their work, not just there for a paycheck. A solid spot for a burger and a beer with easy parking and walkable to the town.

If you're looking for casual dining, this is the place. Emphasis on casual. Definitely not the place I'd recommend for anything too formal. People had theirs dogs around, kids were playing, it was very casual. Not at all a problem, I just never got the vibe from Yelp! It was a pleasant casual though, very familiar. Rating 3 stars. The food was good, nothing to write home about but good. I ordered the salmon BLT, a Yelp picture encouraged me and I'm glad I did. The sandwich was great, well seasoned, however the bread did get a big soggy relatively quickly. Wasn't too much of a problem. The fries were skinny, which aren't my favorite fries. I should've ordered tater tots in said. I asked for a side of ranch and that definitely brought together the meal. My favorite part of the meal was the drink. I ordered the Blueberry Lavender Vodka Lemonade and it was great! Didn't taste like liquor at all, but the kick was there. Overall, I'd come back!

Had a good lunch here with a friend! I ordered the turkey pita club with fries. It had cajun turkey, smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, arugula, tomatoes and chipotle aioli on lightly toasted pita bread. It was delicious!! All the flavors paired together well and it was a great marriage of flavors. I really enjoyed the chipotle aioli also. It came with fries that were also really good. They were lightly seasoned, but it was just enough. Nice and crispy to my liking. My friend got the salmon BLT. She enjoyed it as well. We got Blue Moon. It wasn't on tap though, just bottled. Service was decent.

bad food, poor service, pretty sure the owner does drugs. Do not recommend, horrible customer service

I visited here on a rainy Saturday with my wife and parent in-laws. The service was quick, the food was good, and the setting was comfortable. We enjoyed our experience. As a bigger guy, I will note that we were sat at a booth and limited my experience a little bit - however that was MY experience and not likely going to be the same for smaller people who can sit more comfortably at booths. Also, my beer was frozen when they brought it out. It was kind of cool, but it did make me have to drink it slower and with a straw. Nice and cold though. And since the food didn't blow me away, that's why I give it a four. But, for a stop in place to grab a bite with friends and or family, it was a good time.

Came here for lunch. The outdoor seating was awesome. Loved how the doors opened on the side, so even if you're inside, you still feel outside. The food was delicious, too. The only thing that made it 4 stars was that our server had a runny nose. That was not cool. he or the head server should have asked him to go home or wear a mask.

Atmosphere and service was amazing. Definitely a place to hang out and get drinks. The food is the only downside. My fiancé and I got the patty melt, Cuban and grilled avocados and everything was flavorless and bland. The best thing was the cucumber salad as a side. I would recommend this place as a hang out but eat somewhere else first.

Excellent service, food was yummy, and servers were very accommodating when we switched tables. It was a nice place for lunch with friends. Definitely coming back.

Coming back from mall of ga I was stop to stop in UJ and no surprise the food staff were all on point !! Here my Brussels Yum !! And my UJ burger and again yum My Greek salad was so on Point ! Brussel

I been driving past this place a few times already and I've always wanted to try it and finally got to try it !!! It's a cute little place! I love how you can sit in the patio, outside or inside. It was alittle confusing finding where the door was. Lol. The service was 10/10 We ordered the universal fries and the spicy crispy egg rolls to share. The universal fries were really good, I would recommend! 9/10!!! Lastly the spicy crispy egg roll is a must!!! 10/10! We were even thinking about ordering one more!!! As for our entrees we got the shrimp tacos abs the patty melt. Both were okay. Shrimp tacos - 7/10 it just needed something more. Too plain! All though the chips and pick were delicious! The patty melt - 6/10 .. it was too dry. We definitely want to come back for the eggrolls and try the different entrees they have!

Cool local bar/restaurant. Food was great and drinks were pretty good too. I recommend the salmon club with the greek salad. Perfect place to chill on a nice day, great patio space & outdoor seating

Shakira has such a positive attitude. She made me feel so welcome. I ordered to go but decided to dine in just due to her great demeanor.

The waitress was cool, liked her a lot. Loved they had a movie for us to watch as well as the basketball game. Their set-up is unique, really liked it. I had the six wings and tots with a frozen alcoholic drink. The wings tasted like dish water, the tots were made crispy and not oily. The frozen drink was made to perfection. The wings was the only thing that I didn't like.

I've been here a couple of times and what I appreciate most about this place is most of the time I can play my favorite songs with their touch tunes. However, even when they have a DJ or playing a game they have great service and food and a fun atmosphere. I get the most community-feel here out of all the restaurants in downtown lawrenceville

My book club met at Universal Joint on a Tuesday afternoon. Initially we were seated on the outdoor patio. As it started sprinkling, we moved inside. Other tables put up patio umbrellas but our table didn't have that setup. Anyway, we sat at a large high top table and continued talking. The group rated the food as 9.5/10 which was much higher than the book!!! I had my usual arugula salad with salmon added on top with the lemon zest vinaigrette- so delicious (every single time!). Also at the table were fish tacos, chicken salad sandwiches, and a mushroom burger. Everyone was thrilled with their food. UJ is a former gas station turned into relaxed dining. There is an inside bar and seating, covered patio, and outside seating. Dogs are welcome on the outdoor patio. Don't expect a fancy place, but the food is top quality.

Visited on 2 separate occasions. Had a burger and quesadilla. The food was really good. The service wasn't too bad either. The seating inside is a little tight, but there is outdoor seating as well.

I TOTALLY enjoyed dinner! I had the salmon BLT and the hummus appetizer. Everything was delicious and the food quality was excellent. The service was good and everyone is very friendly and professional. Im going to make a special trip just for the hummus!!

This place was great. Good location in downtown Lawrenceville. Sat outside on a nice Saturday afternoon. Got seated right away. Beautiful set up. Drinks on the menu sounded good even though we didn't have any. Ordered the spicy chicken eggrolls by the waitress's recommendation. Very different but good. I had the California burger, and my mother had the southwest chicken quesadilla. Both were very delicious. Will definitely return. Good service and good food

Universal joint is located in downtown lawrenceville right on the square. It's located near the blue rooster bakery. Small parking lot and street parking is always available. It's an amazing spot to grab great food and drinks, any day of the week! I have tried the Buffalo chicken sandwich with ranch instead of blue cheese. Let me see it was the best Buffalo chicken sandwich I've had. I've also tried the cheddar bacon burger which was huge and very tasty. They offer a variety of food ranging from sandwiches, burgers, quesadillas, wings, etc. The ambiance and vibe is perfect for a great night out. I highly recommend universal joint for your next dinner, good news is they are open late too. Check it out tonight for dinner, no need to cook!

Where to begin parking is available, and if you can't find a spot there is plenty of street parking within walking distance. Seats were available inside, on a covered patio and on the lawn.(the tables have umbrellas, to block the sun ) They have a corn-hole game set up on the lawn for you to enjoy a round while your food is being prepared. The server was very attentive, he was quick to provide answers regarding the menu and even checked if the kitchen could make a substitution to one of their dishes. The salmon bruschetta was phenomenal! I will be back when in town!

How have I managed to not review this place yet? I absolutely adore UJ, and in this weird pandemic, it's one of the safest places to grab lunch in downtown Lawrenceville. They do offer indoor dining, but their patio is where it's at. Spacious and equipped with space heaters, the fact that UJ is in a former gas station offers the perfect setup for opening a large window and getting the air circulating. The menu is full of everything from large salads and standards like burgers and quesadillas to more inventive dishes. I've tried many of them and always leave satisfied with the food, service, and more than decent beer list. Highly recommend this stop on the corner!

Food was good. Server was a good guy and helpful. The wait can be long depending on when you go.

Burger was good (Steinbeck). Service was not good at all. I can't tell you the last time I left a 10% tip. Probably over a decade ago. But honestly? Ok his was generous for the service. This is based solely on Samuel G's service. What did he do, he wasn't very friendly. Certainly not attentive and most importantly he just left all the plates to be swarmed by nasty flies as we tried to just talk. Needless to say, this guy is not cut out for this type of job. Ambiance was good. Over all they've done a very good job, my only issues with the ambiance is more of a personal issue because of the flies which you would expect if you are sitting outdoors, so won't knock them for it.

Brussel sprouts and spicy egg rolls here are great! I would not recommend the Buffalo chicken sandwich or tater tots

This place is pretty good and I love the workers (very respectful) They accidentally put Mayo on one of our orders , after informing the server he gave us a brand new sandwich and allowed us to keep the other one . (I thought that was so kind; ps thank you so much) The restaurant plays really cool music and everyone is so friendly; I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

This cute little restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating is worth a visit. The service is top-notch, and we highly recommend the Universal Fries and Spicy Crispy Egg Rolls. The Shrimp Tacos were okay but needed more flavor, while the Patty Melt was dry. Despite these misses, we plan on coming back for the egg rolls and to try other menu items.

Picked up the tops of my sandwich to look at it and there was a piece of plastic, possibly tape and a hair on my sandwich. Gross! She offered to remake it but I passed.

Great environment. Outdoor area has a great view of downtown. The Universal Fries appetizer was delicious. The Philly Cheesesteak and seasoned fries were very good as well. My kids loved the burgers. Tater tots weee crispy. All in all a great experience.

Lawrenceville Universal Joint is 10/10. Atmosphere, workers, food, drinks!! Our waiter Jamie was so amazing and sweet and the manager on duty, Sawyer was so fun and kind. They just wanted to make sure we had a great time and we did! Amazing arugula salad and the universal joint fries are to die for

so last night i went to universal joint with a few friends and i feel like every time i come here i have the same experience. Our server (samuel g) was so rude & impatient with us kinda felt like he was discriminating towards us. every time i tried to order something he was so quick to walk away i couldn't even finish placing my order because he'd just walk away. he rushed us to pay in the rudest way & made it seem like he was mad that we decided to come here and eat. will not be returning here. this place is located in downtown lawrenceville where it's diverse. if you hate your job so much to the point where you make customers feel uncomfortable then quit. the whole experience was uncomfortable.

We enjoyed our lunch here with our big boy Thor! The food was very flavorful and we finished it all! The server Sydney was very sweet and gave Thor fresh water and this cute bandana! We will be back!

Having grown up in Lawrenceville and always passing by Universal Joint, I thought it was high time to try it. Recently, my boyfriend and I visited for a quick lunch day on a weekday afternoon. It was busy but not overly packed. Parking is limited but we both managed to get spots in their lot. Come in and seat yourself. Someone checked on me immediately once I found a comfy spot. We had many attentive and warm waiters as some were training and floating around during this casual lunch time. John was especially helpful. Unfortunately, they did not have nutritional facts about their foods listed on the menu but once I ordered and asked if any of it had dairy, he immediately said he would take off the chipotle mayo and optional cheese from my chicken tacos. Food wise, I really enjoyed my chicken tacos. They felt like a healthy option and were a reasonable portion size. I'd definitely recommend and order it again. On the other hand, my boyfriend tried something new and ordered a philly cheese steak. He didn't enjoy it and left most of the plate full as he noted it was bland if anything. He prefers the burgers and would recommend those to anyone coming here. Overall, a decent local spot to get a quick bite with friends and family especially with the cute historic Lawrenceville backdrop!

Ehhh this is an alright spot. Got to hang out with some friends for a birthday dinner. The burger that I had was very tasty it was the Old Timer 1-2. I just found it a bit odd that they cut my pickles into chunks. The fries were basic. My husband had the lemon pepper wings and he said that they were tiny and not very good.

Universal Joint sits in downtown Lawrenceville just a bit away from all the major spots. They have their own parking, which is nice. I met my date here (thankfully it was our 5th date) and grabbed a booth. I had a big tv in front of me and lots of noise behind me. They do have an enclosed covered outdoor area with high top seating (should've done that) and then a couple booths in a walkway leading up to the bar area. The seating isn't very comfy (all wooden seating). Well, I teetered on what rating to give this place. By all means, this place represents a dive bar very well. The seating sucks and the atmosphere is loud. BUT, if you can get past that, you'll find a nice selection of beer and cocktails plus the BEST spicy egg rolls you'll ever have in your life. Seriously, I was NOT expecting them to be that good and spicy! Like, punch in the throat spicy. They are house made the morning of, and they add cayenne pepper and jalapeños. A MUST get! Our meals were insanely large. I got the chicken salad sandwich and it came with a ton of tasty tots. My sandwich was ok, but I had lots to take home with me. My date had a lot of food to take home too. I really do love the draft selection here and they have a limited rotating selection on their back page that show extra special drafts that are in, sold out or coming soon. They do carry Blake's Cider, which was one reason I got excited (my coworker had come here before and ordered the Blake's mango habanero, which I'm in love with BUT they didn't have it on this visit). Overall, great place to hangout with friends but I would not take a date here. 3.5 rounded up to 4 bc of the spicy egg rolls and draft selection.

Came here for lunch with my mom and left very happy! The service was really good. We were sat quickly and our food came out shortly after ordering. Everything was delicious! The fried Brussel sprouts were super crispy and yummy. I loved the arugula mushroom quesadilla the best! It was a nice lunch and I definitely recommend coming here. Next time I want to try the black bean burger :)

Food was good, not great but that was likely my fault for ordering something I generally wouldn't. However my vegetarian daughter loved their impossible burger, and the Brussels were delicious. Nice beer selection, chill vibes, all around cool spot. Server was ok.. had better had worse. We enjoyed our lunch.

This is our go-to place for hamburgers. Its only competition in our mind was Steinbeck's, but they are now sharing menus!

Music volume needs to be turned down , this place is already a hole in the wall shitjoint. Please, only thing that makes it bearable is the Philly and every time I. Come here my ears are bleeding, someone turn down the music or turn down the Retartds that run this place for them to realize their only worth it reason for existing! The math is simple Music down and Business Up!!

The best part of this outing was the strawberry basil mule. One of my friend's drink wasn't as strong as mine so some lack of consistency there. Also the bartender and a few servers were not wearing masks. I couldn't really tell who was working and who wasn't. They don't have uniforms and some people are working and then having drinks at the bar. So I'm confused. The food was pretty tasty but they burnt my salmon blt bread. I went open faced. The queso was also pretty tasty. They have a lot of space and great for COVID.

I went here on a Friday after work. I must say, the food and service was way better than the last time. This time I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich. It was really good, perfect flavor and not too spicy . Tatar tots were really good too.
