Love the University Club 😁 I've been going there for years and I'm going to start hosting some events there. Reny gave me a tour of the newly remodeled venue. I highly recommend joining as a member.

Amazing views of downtown and beyond combined with kind, helpful and friendly staff plus amazing food makes for a great event. If you know a member...be friendly to them!

This place is awesome! The view is absolutely stunning—it makes the whole experience so much better. The food was great too, especially the French toast with fresh berries. It was super tasty and just sweet enough. I also loved the tea—it was served so nicely, and you can tell they really pay attention to the details. Overall, it’s a perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal. Whether you’re here for brunch or dinner, you’re gonna love it. Highly recommend checking it out!

I did not originally intend to leave a public review. After an incident involving inappropriate and humiliating behavior by staff, I left the club and stated I would not be returning. I chose to move on quietly. Months later, I was unexpectedly contacted about alleged charges despite the club being largely inaccessible during renovations and despite my clear departure. Because of that outreach, I feel compelled to document my experience publicly. I dispute the validity of the balance and do not recommend this club based on how this situation has been handled.

Fine dining with a beautiful view on 34 floor! We came for dinner and the food was so good- perfectly seasoned and served. The menu is so diverse - everyone can find something for their liking. They offer set 3corse dinners or a la carte . We tried: Octopus Tuna Ceviche Shishito peppers Autumn salad Ribeye steak Filet mignon Brussel sprouts Fries Man, everything was so delicious! Can literally recommend everything. And curious to try other times on the menu. The staff is very helpful, attentive and polite. We had a baby with us and everyone was so sweet with her and making sure we had everything we needed.

This is a nice venue with great views. I came for the dining in the dark event, which was a very fun and unique dining experience.

Attended a Guitar 4 Vets event at this location. Stunning city views. Helpful and attentive staff. The event provided Hors d'oeuvres that were delicious but unsure if that is the regular menu. This location has a lot of open room in the dining area and the private meeting rooms. Clean restrooms that are well stocked even with the volume of people in attendance. Easy valet out front, public parking around the corner or simply ride share to keep it easy. Membership here appears to be a good value for the level of service and amenities provided. If you can visit I encourage you to see the best of San Diego at the University Club.

Let's start by saying the view is absolutely stunning--truly breathtaking. I've been here a few times for business mixers, but last night was my first time having dinner. For the appetizer, I ordered the shisito peppers. It was decent, though not as flavorful as I expected. For the main course, I split the seafood pasta special with a friend. Unfortunately, it was extremely bland. A staff member had mentioned it would include lobster, shrimp, and scallops, but it turned out to have clams instead of scallops and chunks of fish. Upon realizing this, I lost interest and set my plate aside. I brought it up to our waitress, but all she did was apologize without offering a resolution, which was disappointing. On the brighter side, dessert was a highlight--a ginger sponge dessert that was light, not overly sweet, and absolutely delicious. Overall, the view is the real star here. Valet parking is available, though street parking can be unpredictable. The food is mediocre, but the service is consistently friendly.

The views are GORGEOUS in University Club! My organization used to reserve some of the meeting spaces for board rooms and I always loved coming early or staying after to watch the skyline (you are higher than the planes coming in to the airport.) A little disappointed with their lack of vegan options on the menu for actual meals but the hummus board is great. A great place for a business meeting or a nice meal with a great view.

Views on views on delicious food on views! I was lucky to come to the University Club for a company retreat that took place in one of their meeting rooms. The space was absolutely gorgeous and the wrap around views of San Diego are unmatched. Service was impeccable and they were highly attentive to every need. We had a plated lunch and the food was delicious. We enjoyed a nice fresh salad with a salmon and steak combo. Truly wonderful! Parking in the area can be difficult but they provide valet service. A lovely experience and I hope to be able to come back here.

Visited for lunch with a friend and her daughter for the first time. My friend has been a member for a couple of years now and is enjoying her membership to the max. From using a coworking space, to use the luxurious looking rooms for meetings with her company or to attend happy hours and socials...she is delighted. So do I have a 'tag along friend'! The poke bowl was delicious and fresh, the valet parking was a breeze in downtown, service was friendly and these views are killer! I had never seen San Diego from the 34th floor of a building and let me tell you it is a gorgeous city we call home! I enjoyed everything so much and I love that they enforce dress code too, it is actually refreshing!

Attended a luncheon here and the best thing was the view. The view is amazing and probably one of the best of San Diego. Be sure to valet. But allow plenty of time because it got very backed up and a long line. I made the mistake of not waiting to valet and self parked. I do NOT recommend self parking in anything bigger than a Mini Cooper or Fiat 500e. Scary tight 300 feet of curvy ramp. I probably sweated so much I was hungry and thirsty but disappointed by my meal. The spinach salad was decent but nothing special. The bread was the best part. The entree was chicken with potatoes and cauliflower. The chicken was dry and hard. Had to saw through it and pull the fork out with some muscle. The gravy/sauce or au jus it was served with didn't help the dryness but gave it some (very) salty flavor. The pumpkin cupcake was delicious. It was light and moist and not sweet. Not pretty but good. The ice tea was murky but strong. Hope this was just a one off and not representative of their event foods. Service was good and attentive.

Always such a beautiful place to enjoy the rooftop views of San Diego. Located Atop Symphony Towers, this is the exclusive club of all exclusive clubs. The dining and upscale ambiance is pristine. The space is ideal for special events, private group dinners, hosted upscale dinners, and very excellent staff members work here. The food is absolutely delicious. The bartenders are top notch at their profession. The dining areas as private venue rooms are well manicured, maintained, and stunning. We will always come back.

A friend is looking at potentially being a member, so she invited us to have dinner here. If you are not a member, prepare to.pay for parking if you park in the lot otherwise, it is downtown so good luck finding parking. Getting to the club super easy because there are signs everywhere. Getting back to the car was a bit more of a challenge which we managed through. Prepare to take multiple elevators for this adventure. Service was great. We were sat at a table overlooking the city. Honestly, it was gorgeous! Server was on point and attentive. One of the girls and I ordered a prefix dinner. We got salads which were great. When they cleared our plates for the main course, the forks were taken but never replaced. While the rest of the table got their food and were able to start enjoying, we had to call over someone to let them know we don't have Utensils. I found the chicken to be fantastic and perfectly juicy. My girlfriend who hot the same said her chicken was dry. My husband got the waygu burger- he gave it top marks. I took a bite and agreed. He also had fries which were perfectly made and seasoned. Another friend got a burger and he too agreed that it was perfect. The other girlfriend got the gnocchi - she said it was over power by sage which she did not appreciate. I tried a bite and all I tasted was potato. The hubby and I had to rush home (fur babies amiright?!?!) So we had dessert to go. Once we got home and made sure the 4 legged monster was fine, we made tea and enjoyed the cookies and cream pie. I found it to be exactly right. I like cream pies to be light and fluffy which this was. Husband prefers his to be dense so he wasn't a fan. We both enjoyed the raspberries that came with it. Overall, we all agreed that we would come again. The space is beautiful. Food was good. Service was great. Prices are fair. Hoping my friend gets that membership so I could come again soon

From our experience last night ... going for dinner before SD Symphony concert ... I would say this restaurant (club) needs a lot of improvement. The seating, the menu choice, the food, the pricing.The decor and ambiance as well.

I came here as an invited guest and was blown away by the location and view. Though it is a private club the prices were very reasonable and comparable to what you'd find in town. The service was impeccable. Definitely a place I would consider getting my own membership for. Came here for Taco Tuesday and the street tacos were fairly priced and very tasty. Their assortment of other options was excellent, and I'd say on par with some upscale restaurants. And when you're paying for membership, I don't doubt you expect the best service, which was definitely what we received. The location and view just could not be beat! Definitely hoping to get an invite back!

This review is actually for knead Artisan Bakery down in the lobby of Symphony Towers, but I understand it's run by the UClub. I received excellent service at knead today - my first stop in the new eatery by the Symphony box office windows. The veggie sandwich was delicious - great flavors and textures, equal to a meaty one for satisfaction, and the bread was SO soft! Great latte as well. Got a baguette and some desserts to bring home to family and they have lovely scent and crumb! Recommend for breakfast/lunch in downtown city center area and I can't wait to see what they have for shows!

It's been years since I wrote my last review and this update is overdue. This is NOT the place it was before COVID and that is a GREAT THING. Nearly all the staff is new including the General Manager Brian Lee. His vision for the club has propelled it to new heights. Chef Robin has improved the menu in amazing ways and the food is twice as good now as it ever was. The shutdown caused a break in "business as usual" and allowed the club to re-find itself. The old (and a bit tired) menu has been replaced with new and exciting choices and I've heard great things from many other club members. If you have the chance to head up here for lunch or dinner, go. It will be worth it. I was, for many months, the "Duke" of this place due to checking in daily. I used to say that, as a private club, it should be one of my top 5 places to go for dinner. In the past, it simply wasn't on that list. I'm pleased to say that it is now strongly in my top 5!

I've been coming to the UClub for years with friends and colleagues, but just recently joined as a member. There aren't better places to network and just have a drink over the amazing backdrop San Diego's skyline. The food, service and overall atmosphere are all first class. I've had several dishes there, but recently have been chomping on the U Club burger. Parking is difficult downtown, but as a member you get hosted valet for two hours if you get there before 5pm or all evening after 5pm. I highly recommend visiting or better yet, joining the University Club. There are really very few places like it in SD!

Had birthday dinner, even though I'm not a member I managed to make a reservation on OpenTable and got seated at this fabulous view table top. The food was average, nothing extraordinary. They were nice to arrange special birthday menus, as well as welcome champagne glass, which I really appreciated. They also offered a dessert, but I was already full. Highly recommend for beautiful rooftops for amazing view but if you're looking for a good food experience, don't get your hopes high.

Came here on a Friday with my friend that's a member and enjoyed the amazing views of San Diego all around. We had views of the Coronado bridge, the bay, the gaslamp and Petco park. The customer service was amazing, very attentive. The food was spectacular! We had a charcuterie board, mushroom soup and the filet was tender and juicy. Also had an Ube crème brûlée very interesting and yummy. The drinks were also fantastic, I had a dirty martini with Tito's and an espresso martini perfect amount of alcohol.

Find dining at its best with a grand view. I also like special events they put on throughout the year.

I attended this venue for an awards ceremony. It was a beautiful venue and I hope to return. Great views from the top floor and while I did not try out the restaurant, I hope to in the future. It looked very crowded and patrons looked happy. There is valet parking but I parked nearby on the street instead.

The Towers Building in downtown San Diego is a wonderful place for a private city club. It has elegance and ooozes class! The views day or night from this top floor club are Gorgeous with floor to ceiling windows. I am privileged that a good friend of mine has a membership here, and has invited me on several occasions for Happy Hour, "great fries," cocktails and wine tasting events. Every room is beautifully furnished for meetings and events. The waiters and servers are uniformly dressed, doorman downstairs, valet parking, and golden elevators!! I've only had the happy hour food and the food tables placed during events. One time maybe I will get a full meal, but there's no hurry. This club is fantastic for socializing, relaxing, making friends or acquaintances, business after you leave the office, making that money deal, finding customers for the future, and so on! Wish I was a member , sorry I think you knew that part. I'd make lots of money for Club Corp!!!!!!!

Extremely intellectually fragile place with poor culinary overpriced choices and intrusive management oversight in my opinion ... run down over last few months... it was very privileged vibrant community before but not now .. a lot of members quit some moved to The Reading Club .. you can easily get discounted offer to join The University Club and you will enjoy the views ....If you do so , please ask waiter if 20 % of service charge goes to them ..Despite the pandemic derailing much of the hospitality industry's current and future plans, shaping up to be a major growth year for The Reading Club where a lot of members moved ..check this place as well

Went here for lunch on a Friday. The burger is very tasty and with way too many fries. The food is great even if service is on the lax side

I've been a member for years. Love this place. Food is great, drinks are awesome. Always meet new people. Highly recommend if you're looking to expand your network.

Was definitely looking forward to eating there today, not only because of the great view, but it's been so long since friends have gotten together. But today was also #NationalBurgerDay, so we wanted to try out the "U Club Burger". Once everyone (8 of us) got there, our order was taken. It wasn't particularly busy, but the food took at least 45 minutes to come out and for some strange reason, mine took an extra 15 minutes, even though we all basically had burgers. The burger was tasty and the fries decent. And at $18, wasn't unreasonable given the location. Oh and I added the fried egg for another $2, which I like to do when it's available. The bummer was definitely the wait and we had to remind the waitress about three times, before my food was finally delivered. So great ambiance, long wait, decent food and expensive parking, which was $33 or about twice the price of the food. So perhaps the better solution is parking on the street, or limiting your time there (preferably not)? So I give it three stars and maybe the service improves once we are fully out of the pandemic? And parking is what it is, unless of course you a member.

Dinner last night at University Club on 34th floor of Symphony Towers. Food was ah-mazing, Chef Penelope made my night memorable with incredibly scrumptious shareables, I believe we tried a lil bit of everything: Different cheeses, fruits, meats presented just fabulously. After the shareables we sampled the muscles and shrimp. I of course being the virgin eater that I guess I am, tried the muscles and they were good. I mean I liked them and would eat them again. Shrimp was huge and so good in the natural broth. Kenny had the bone-in rib eye, just devine and dreamy. You know how when steak doesn't need to be chewed just savored in your mouth? That was it. Again presented impeccably. I, on the other hand, had the salmon with polenta, which I have never tried before and I was in heaven. It was really really good. Chef Penelope came out and described each dish and how it was prepared giving our evening a more personal and included vibe. Our server was Kristen. She was helpful, personable and helped with my indecision on what to drink. She told the bartender what I was looking for without a name to match it and he whipped up something sweet and quenching, not too overpowering. Dessert? Again a lil bit of everything. So special and so divine. Service from Kristen and the whole team was impeccable and top-notch and the view simply speaks for itself. Ah-freakin-mazing. I am attaching pictures we took however, we were so excited to eat the entrees that we forgot to snap a picture. Anyways, Stellar, Personal, service, scrumpdelicious food; a great vibe.

I would not recommend coming here. The food is terrible, the service is poor, and the bar manager there (Joe) was very rude to a colleague of mine who is impaired. We approached him and told him that he's being rude and he just stood there and didn't care while smirking. We will never have another corporate event here and would strongly recommend to avoid this place.

Truly unique in space and in offerings. I've been to several events at the University Club and they've always been worthwhile. Namely because the UC is perched on the top floor of the tallest building in Downtown San Diego. So the views are sensational. No outdoor access, but it's still stunning. Now, don't go here expecting to just dine here, you either need to be a member or know someone. Granted they have some community events like the regular Ted X talks, but essentially you will know about it because someone invited you. If you don't have a friend who is a member, just become a member. One of the best membership deals that I know of right now is an event based one. Simply hold a $2,000 or more event at the UC and your $1,000 initiation fee is waived and you get a discounted member rate of $150/month. Not too shabby! And you have the top of the line membership which grants you access to the entire club network, so that no matter where you go, you will may have access to the sister club in that city. Membership grants you great networking opportunities, breakfast every morning and more! The food has been top notch each time--- try the root beer float made with Virgil's so good!

I've been here several times. Tonight, the service was an abomination. Upon arrival, we waited almost 10 minutes for the valet to show up. Once we arrived at the Club, we waited another 5 minutes for the hostess to seat us. Mind you, nobody was ahead of us. Our children were served their entree 45 minutes before we were. After 3 hours, we finally got our check. To be fair, we received a $100.00 credit due to the poor service. On the way out, one of the wait staff confronted me for complaining. Amazingly brazen. Never was there a Manager present. Too many good restaurants in San Diego to endure this k LLC ack luster experience.

I came here for a dinner/gala event and was excited to attend after the reviews I read on Yelp. Try to valet or park in the lot across the street and try not to enter that parking structure. So many winding turns that goes on forever and small parking spots. But the view is worth the stress of parking. I always thought San Diego's skyline is one of the best in the country and the view that I saw validated it. Service was impeccable and staff serving us was very attentive. The food served that night was delicious! If you ever get invited to an event here, do attend because it's a private club and you can only get in if you're a member or know someone who is. Hope to come back.

I was impressed by the views, of course. This place is two blocks from my house, but it feels like another world, when you're peering out of the dining room windows. The staff was similarly impressive, being attentive and friendly, and joking with our group of 8. That was much appreciated, given that we were almost a group of 7. One of our team didn't get the memo about the dress code, and was told that her sneakers were not welcome in the formal dining room. Her fault, of course. She was halfway down the hallway to leave the building, when the hostess stopped her and offered to loan her a pair of slip ons, which they apparently have around "for instances such as these." Why she didn't offer those up sooner, before our friend was making her dejected walk down the hallway, we don't know. But at least she was able to rejoin the group and the lunch (though the "just in case" shoes were more hideous than any pair of sneakers could ever be...) The food was marginal. I had expected the be wowed, but found I wasn't. I got the fish of the day - bass in a pistachio crust. All around the table, others got salads and the special. We also ordered two of charcuterie boards, which were the highlight of the meal for me. The fish was a bit too mushy for my taste, and the sauce didn't do much for the dish. The vegetables were a bit too overcooked, as well. It was nice of the member to get us in to celebrate a birthday, but I don't think I'm saddened by the fact that I'm not a member, or that I likely won't get back in to dine anytime soon. I would've much preferred a more laid-back, accepting restaurant with divine food to this place.

Never knew there is a members only club to dine. Members only club ????!Crazy- who knew... what an amazing experience!!! Food was outstanding ... I wonder how the night looks.

Wedding Venue - Every wedding couple creates an almost unattainable vision of their wedding reception. After all of the planning and decision making, I think most couples would say that as long as their venue looks 85% as good as this crazy image they've built in their head, they'll have an amazing day. We can say with absolute certainty that The University Club lived up to and blew away every expectation we had for our reception venue. The views are truly unmatched and give a unique panoramic, skyline view of San Diego that no other venue can offer. However, it's not just the view that makes this venue, the service is also in a tier of its own. The event coordinator, Claire Somers, is a true professional and went out of her way to meet all of our needs. She provided timely feedback to all of our questions and helped create the perfect layout for our guests' seating and our décor for our cocktail hour and reception. The food is top notch and the staff is incredibly friendly and did an amazing job of attending to our guests and making sure everyone's glasses were full! We truly had the best day and it wouldn't have been possible had it not been for the The University Club!

Beautiful views but service and food quality are lacking. Came here on a business dinner and we had one of the private dining rooms here in the club. They offered validated valet parking which was nice as it's impossible to find parking around this area. The views of the downtown area and Coronado bridge were amazing and breathtaking. Definitely impressive place to wow someone with. We had a set menu to order from for dinner and I ordered a cab sauv, soup, steak, and dessert sampler. However, they brought me a white wine and no appetizer when everyone else was served an appetizer at the table. Then when the entrees came out they tried to give me the chicken option but finally gave me my steak when I corrected them. They said they would fix the mistake and bring my soup on the side, this did not happen at all. Finally when the desserts came I was not surprised that mine did not arrive at all either. In terms of the food I can only comment on the bread and steak as I didn't get the other items I ordered. The bread was just a store bought piece toasted with some butter on the side. Steak was mediocre and unimpressive as well.

Dining in just reopened this week. Confined to bar area. Limited menu. Excellent food, service, and view atop San Diego skyline. Ahi tacos, Steak Frites (melt in mouth) Caesar salad. Associated with Clubcorp.

We decided to have the University Club as our wedding venue. Let me tell you, it was the best decision of my life!! Our day was such a magical fairy tale. Something out of a movie. Everything ran super smooth and the view was to die for! The food was great, the service was amazing, the staff was super helpful and very nice. They gave us some nice champagne at our sweethearts table, they saved us each a piece of cake because we were so busy & really made sure we were happy & satisfied. Our guests were stunned at how beautiful this venue was! Our only minor issue was the main room and ceremony room took the longest to cool down w the AC. It was slightly warm. So make sure the air is on ASAP. The ballroom temperature was perfect. With that being said, I want to send a special Thank you to University Club and team for everything and making my special day an event to remember!

I've only been coming here for two short months now, as a new member, and yet every occasion has been the same five star experience. I'll focus this review on the special "Bistro Supper" that I attended just a few weeks ago. Every couple of months, the Club has a specialty dinner, and this particular evening, it was a five course dinner with a matched pairing of Gainey Ranch Vineyards wines. Executive Chef Lance Repp and Food & Beverage Director Jeff Apodaca conspired to put on an amazing presentation of deliciously tasty foods and wine pairings (see photos). First up was the Charred Endive Salad, served with shaved, aged pecorino, drizzled with orange chive vinaigrette. This was paired with the 2013 Sauvignon Blanc. Our intermezzo before the two "main events" was a goose liver torchon (a very traditional form of terrine), served atop a sweet cornbread, accompanied with sectioned grapefruit and sour apple, perfectly paired with the fuller bodied 2013 Chardonnay. As my wife refrains from eating meat, she was served a plate of roasted beets and tomatoes. The first of our two "mains" was the Curry Poached Sablefish. We were in total agreement that this was the star of the evening (perhaps Chef will add this to the regular menu)!!! This super-moist and most flavorful fish was served atop a bed of lentils, with young pea tendrils, roasted turnips and radish. Paired with the 2013 Riesling, I was in delight wanting seconds of this dish. The second "main" was a Cocoa dusted Lamb Saddle Roulade, with smoked tomato jam, and wild, baby arugula. The special addition of lamb bacon to the dish went together well with the 2013 Pinot Noir. My wife's dish was a combination of gnocchi & root vegetables. Our finale for the evening was the exquisitely presented Whipped Humboldt Fog. Humboldt Fog cheese is a light, soft cheese, layered with a vegetable ash. This whipped creation was served atop a swirl rye/pumpernickel toast with black currant preserves. The 2013 Merlot was the perfect accompaniment for this dessert, and ending to the glorious dinner. Throughout the evening, we were perfectly serviced by a cadre of waitstaff, who unobtrusively whisked platters away and delivered our next morsels without interrupting the flow of the conversation we enjoyed, and learning about the food and wines from Chef Lance and the Winemaker. The fine evening certainly ranks among the very best "wine dinners" I've experienced in many venues throughout the world. What a delight to know that I will be enjoying the future creations of our Chef in my new Club!!!

This is for the breakfast buffet--scrambled eggs are creamy, cooked just right, and really tasty. My 14month old certainly loves the scrambled eggs, which we ate two days in a row! We also really love the corned beef hash--the potatoes which are strings are mixed with the corned beef and grilled onions, which I love. (I do not like my corned beef to be served with a 'side' of potatoes). We also enjoy the thick apple wood smoked bacon. Usually, there is a rotating hot dish that is vegetarian and a meat dish; toast and pastries; granola; yogurt; fruit; and oatmeal or grits, and juice/coffee/water. So far, the schedule for the hot dish seems to be as follows: --Mon: scrambled eggs with feta, spinach, tomatoes and separately sausage --Tues: scrambled eggs; and corned beef hash separately --Wed: scrambled eggs; bacon separately; chilaquiles separately --Thu: pancakes; bacon separately --Fri: crustless quiche; sausage patties (My least favorite is pancakes and crustless quiche) Members get breakfast buffet as part of their paid membership, and just pay tax and gratuity. I bring my baby girl to breakfast; she is a regular!

Great food, limited but high quality menu, just a touch pricey for the portion size. MUST BE A MEMBER OR A GUEST OF A MEMBER TO GO. Nothing beats the view from the Club. I've been comfortable going there alone to wait for traffic to clear, I've also enjoyed the TED talks and monthly Farm to Fork Dinners. This is my favorite place to take out of town guests. Free breakfast and parking is included in membership, which makes means membership pays for itself. The two downsides are that there is a frequent turn over of waitstaff, so this can slow down service, and they are not always the best at returning phone calls/emails.

We had our rehearsal dinner and welcome event here and it was such an amazing way to kick off our wedding weekend! This is a guaranteed venue to WOW your guests! Amazing views, amazing food and the venue is beautifully decorated!

Gorgeous view up here. Street parking if you're lucky, but you can valet your car. Food and service are pretty mediocre. I feel people come here to be seen or to network, and not really to dine. Ambiance: Very stuffy to be honest. You have to wear proper clothing, or they don't let you in. Definitely tough if you're hosting friends here (especially international friends who have been traveling), and you give them a list of things they need to wear in order to enter this club. They host events here, so maybe I will have to check out some of their events. (Note: Must be a member or know someone who is a member to enter)

Always courteous and friendly service here. I have been coming here since 2007 and service is friendly and know you by name when your a member. I enjoy the morning breakfast buffet and a great place to have an early meeting or evening . They provide many selections of events and benefits being a member here at the university club. I like that they have remodeled the place making it colorful and modern. Definitely has one of the best views in downtown.

The view from the University Club was amazing!! This is a members only venue. I came here for a lunch meeting organized by one of the University Club members. I got a burger during the lunch. After the meeting, a few of us wandered to the Ebb + Flow Lounge for some drinks. I picked a drink off the seasonal cocktails menu. I believe it was called the Kentucky Kiss with bourbon, strawberry, mint. It was really refreshing. I can see why people would pay to be a member here. The staff was very attentive, they have great events planned for their members, and let's talk about that view again, very impressive!

Oh so fancy! I love fancy dinners. I don't think i'll ever become a member though. My friend is a member and invited me to come. She forgot to mention the dress code to me though. Whoops! Totally came in jeans so I couldn't go in the dining room area. We were able to sit near the bar and still order dinner which was great. The best table was available right by the window at the corner. I love the view. I just got back from a month long vacation and went here the night I got back and it was awesome. So glad to be back in San Diego and to enjoy the view. We had a four course meal and it was amazing. I ordered the ahi sashimi for my appetizer. I should've asked if they had soy sauce though. It was fine without. It came with seaweed salad also and it was delicious. For my soup I had the mushroom soup. I recently started liking mushrooms a few years a go and this is the best mushroom soup I have tried. The taste was so strong and delicious. I loved it. My main course was the steak and lobster. The steak was so tender. I loved every bite. The lobster was just the tail. I liked how it was presented. I didn't have to pull out the lobster meat from the tail. I was pretty much full so I took the food and dessert home. I ordered the bread pudding and it was amazing. Im not a big leftovers type of person but the food here was still great even after a day. I would love to come again when I can afford to come and when someone invites me.

San Diego's finest... And that's because it's a private club. You like have to know somebody that knows somebody... The view is spectacular though on the 30 something floor. You can see the whole SD downtown and bay. Food is decently priced for happy hour and they had green beer specials for St. Patrick's day. My friend and I crashed the St. Patrick's day happy hour because her roommate works with some of the people that comes here all the time. We definitely didn't know it was a private club. Service was so so. They already added gratuity on your bill but don't tell you. Our girl server wasn't all that nice to us but she did her job. We got some drinks, deviled eggs with caviar, shrimp cocktail and the seasoned fries. Food was good for the discounted happy hour price. I don't think I ever had caviar and it was my first time with the deviled eggs. The shrimp cocktails were huge! Every one else here was so nice, you can tell it was for an upscale crowd.

What a wonderful place to dine, drink, and enjoy amazing service in a lovely surroundings. Very personable management adds a nice touch. Our Server was stellar, outstanding! We are a difficult table : Friday is our regular night out with our 92 yr old Father and his beautiful young (er) lady friend. By Friday my husband snd I are tired from the week and dinner is always at 5pm with our parental units. We had everything from Soup to Nuts. You must try the Parker House Rols. The shrimp and Oysters were Obscenley good. The Mushroom soup had an At Table presentation of stir in ingredylike truffles...exquisite! Topped only by my Sea Bass in a frothy light supporting sauce with a whiff of pineapple and coconut. I am a bit hazy on the dessert as I tried two of the "creatively composed and packs a wallop " cocktails. I found that their food takes a backseat to perfect service. (I did throw my wine in my husbands face during an argument and everyone just kept going about their business. Is there a nothing happened. This was followed by a secret aperitif added with my coffee, to cam me down (not on the check). Thank you University Club Thank you University Cliib

It really pains me to leave 2-stars for the venue where we chose to have our reception - such an amazing and special day for us. First the Good: ~The venue is gorgeous - floor to ceiling windows with views of downtown, the bay, and the ocean. ~Food is great. They have a restaurant on the premises which always results in better food. ~Our Captain Austin - he was kind and helpful. ~Cheryl - she knows what she is doing and comped quite a few things for us. She also had multiple tastings for us and was devoted to getting the food and drinks perfect for our special day. We really felt like she cared about us and our wedding. Now the Bad: ~The day-of staff - the day of our wedding it seemed the staff did not know what was going on, they were not only incompetent but they were rude to many of my guests, including me. And when we asked questions (because our wedding planner was unfortunately also disorganized (Liz Z. Wedding Planning)), I and my bridesmaids got answers such as, "that is not my job". They couldn't even be bothered to bring our cake to the dessert table once cut, but instead left them at the pasta station, where they went unnoticed and uneaten. ~The carpets are old and need to be updated. ~The Bartender - it seems one was very friendly and accommodating and the other was not. I did not experience this first hand, but this was feedback we received from our guests. ~Cheryl - While she is part of the good, she was also part of the bad. Her response time is terrible. I had to keep on top of her and it was hard getting responses to my questions. She was unable to be there last minute for our wedding day. And upon receiving my email of the many hiccups that happened that day (far too many to list here) we never heard from her. With the amount of time we spent with her and the money we spent at the University Club with her, we really would have appreciated a follow-up or an apology. ~The Bill - Make sure you analyze the bill as there were a couple of additional charges that should not have been there. They did adjust once I brought these to their attention, but it really makes me question the validity of our $9k bar tab for 100 people. We were serving nice alcohol so it is possible that this is a valid charge but I cannot help but question it after discovering the other "hidden" charges. Overall - we had an amazing wedding. The food stations were good (although, the chefs were a little slow), the signature cocktails were a huge hit. Our florist did an amazing job, the furniture we rented was elegant, our DJ was the best and the venue was gorgeous and spacious. I have recommended this venue to other brides while warning them to make sure they speak to the coordinators beforehand and stress the importance of good attitudes and good service. Happy and accommodating employees would make a world of difference for this venue. We unfortunately will not be throwing anymore events here which is disappointing as it really is a great venue - especially when you get the entire 34th floor suite to yourself. Give it a try, but be firm and explicit with your expectations.

This is 100% one of my absolute favorite places to go eat in San Diego! I've visited the club on several occasions for business meetings, networking events, dinner dates and to celebrate special occasions. Every single time I'm there I have an absolutely amazing time, in large part due to the exceptional staff, skyline views and the wonderful experience provided overall! On a recent visit to the club, I was treated like absolute royalty by Robbie and the entire staff after receiving a person invite from the phenomenal Director of Membership, Mitch Semon! His level of professionalism and accommodation is next to none and the club is extremely lucky to have him. If you're looking for an unforgettable experience, I'd highly recommend the University Club! You won't be disappointed!
