The Way to Your Brain Is Through Your Stomach | Eater

"A prominent researcher based there, John Cryan, helped coin the term “psychobiotics” in 2011 to describe interventions that target the microbiome for mental-health benefits. His framing includes both probiotics (beneficial bacteria found in foods like yogurt) and prebiotics (foods such as leafy greens and whole grains that feed those bacteria), and his work is cited as a leading force in the modern scientific revival linking gut microbes to brain chemistry." - Claudia Geib

Wow, what a beautiful campus. I wish I had studied here. The entire area is maintained very well. I am glad that they have it opened for the public to visit and explore outside area. If you visit Cork, then it is worth visiting this place. The flower beds near the garden are beautiful.

At UCC Grounds and Campus illuminated with green lights for the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day 2025. You mist also visit the Honan Catholic Chapel inside the campus where you can pray fervently and peacefully. The University offers diverse courses and postgrad degree open for all nation.

This university is a gold standard for anyone serious about their academic and professional trajectory. With state-of-the-art infrastructure, meticulously curated academic programs, and a research ecosystem that rivals the best, it’s a hub of intellectual rigor and opportunity. Think gem libraries that could make even the most casual reader a bibliophile, and a fitness complex that might just motivate you to ditch those Netflix marathons—for a real one. The ambiance? A harmonious blend of contemporary architecture and next-gen facilities, designed to keep you both inspired and caffeinated (yes, the coffee is also top-tier). Sure, there’s an investment involved—high-caliber learning rarely comes with a discount tag. But here, it’s about paying for quality, not just ticking boxes. In essence, the university is a powerhouse of excellence, a microcosm of ambition, and, let’s face it, a place where late nights, early mornings, and endless “aha” moments are all part of the package!! Blessed to be a part of it 🥰🥰 !!

Yelp
My friend and I had a really fun time exploring this campus. We went there on Sunday, so unfortunately, most of the campus was closed, but not the stone corridors! These corridors features ancient tombstone dating back to the 2nd century A.D. Also, make sure to stop by the IRA Volunteers Memorial at the part of campus that used to be the old Cork Gaol. The most fun we had was sneaking into open classrooms and conference rooms. Our favorite was a large conference room filled wall-to-wall with encyclopedias. Yeah, I suppose the intended goal of those open doors wasn't so two yanks could sneak around historic buildings and breathtaking conference rooms, but well, it was certainly the outcome. UCC was easily the best campus we visited in Ireland.

Yelp
Nice Afternoon Stroll, Sunny or Rain! Old building surrounded by green area; perfect for summer walk in Cork! My partner work for university planning, thus it is always interesting for us to visiting universities on the city that we visited. University of Cork is one of the best to spend an afternoon at. Nice stroll along the campus to see how old building function to accommodate current academic purpose. Art work and expedition displayed around the university give a plus value.

Yelp
I may be biased but I went here for 3 years - possibly the best 3 years ever. I loved every minute of being in UCC. Lectures were interesting, there was an endless array of socialising options and amenities. I hope to return as an 80 year old mature student.

Yelp
I spent 7 years in UCC - a long time. A great friendly university, the facilities just get better and better. The new extension to the Boole library is very welcome, turning the place into an even more popular social hub than ever. Studying of course goes on too, but everyone's here for a wander between the paragraphs.

Yelp
Currently attending UCC, studying a B Sc in Government. Every lecture I've attended so far has been intriguing, the lecturers are all extremely intellectual and fascinating people and in general, student life has been amazing. The on-campus facilities are limitless; for example, students avail of food at far lower prices than they would at restaurants five minutes away. The library in particular is a wealth of information and knowledge at everybody's disposal. It's a credit to Cork City!

Yelp
I spent seven years here as a student, and then returned many years later to join the staff. UCC benefits from being largely campus-based, although some departments have moved off-site as the university has expanded. The grounds are beautiful - sometimes it looks as though the whole place is a forest! The new buildings - Aras na Mac Leinn, the O'Rahilly Building - are very much in keeping with the surroundings, and the Glucksman is a revelation! Food-wise there are plenty of places to eat, although there isn't a very wide range of food on offer. Luckily, there are enough interesting cafes and restaurants in walking distance for that not to be a problem!
