NYC Chef Franklin Becker Debuts Two Ghost Kitchens in West Philly - Eater Philly

"Benny Casanova’s brings Philly a taste of Becker’s native Brooklyn via square pies and pasta-stuffed arancini. Benny is a nostalgic homage to the Brooklyn pizzeria that Becker worked at in high school, whose owner and Becker’s first-time mentor shared his Sicilian grandmother’s secret recipe back in the day. It lives on at Benny in the form of 10-inch pizzas with six crispy squares each (starting at $13). A hefty “Passyunk Ave” is loaded with pork sausage, spicy cherry peppers, broccoli rabe, and pecorino cheese, while the “Sfincione” features breadcrumbs, anchovies, onions, caciocavallo cheese, and tomato sauce. Veggie options include a cremini mushroom and ricotta variety or an eggplant-topped creation. Popular pasta dishes take shape inside fried arancini (rice balls), stuffed with the same ingredients that go into carbonara and cacio e pepe. Other non-pizza options include eggplant Parmesan and garlic “wheels” — a beloved Brooklyn side." - Tierney Plumb

I was so excited to see Xi’an Famous Foods available in Philly, after loving them from NYC! I did get my order, and it was delicious (thanks XFF!!), but the experience at Fair Foods Co. was confusing and frustrating. So, they have an AMZING selection! But when I got there, there was no one behind the counter. Just touch pads and kiosks that didn’t seem compatible with the DoorDash order I’d made; they only worked with Fair Foods orders? I waited and waited… a long time as other confused customers gathered; finally a human came out but they ignored us completely and just fed food bags into the automated locker system there. A bit later, more humans finally showed up to actually help the line of us waiting. The staff weren’t really friendly at all, but they did get us our food quickly and correctly, so that’s good. I’m bummed, because it’s a cool concept with GREAT selection, but they really need to post a permanent staff member to greet people and help them, so we aren’t lost and confused. Seems a lot of restaurants are counting on them to do better!! Again, great concept, and I got my great food (a bit cold after so much waiting) but they need more humans finally showed touch and help! Really hoping they get it, I’d love to see this succeed!

Taking forever to get food ready to delivery from wing stop, uber driver said 7 more minutes waiting based screen orders check up, no wonder reviews get worse…. 2026 already here, time management gets worse-not improving at all, if not ready running business-why receive too many orders. No common sense or incompetence

We purchased Birria Tacos (Steak & Chicken), and Sweet Thang Cookies (Salted Caramel & Cookies and Cream) and WOW!! I could not stop dipping my tacos in the sauce lol. The Tacos were every bit of AMAZING!! Cookies taste great and was just right and as big as a muffin!! The women that work there were very sweet and helpful. Our only gripe was the waiting area and the restroom. Come on guys; you all have a great thing going keep up the common area for your customers. We will definitely come back and if you are in the neighborhood, please stop by you won’t be disappointed I promise.

This place has some wildly unexpected good food. One of the places I ordered from called me to appreciate me being one of their very first customers today so I got to ask the questions y’all have…. All those names are actually different restaurants owned by different people. And the Wingstop and Jersey Mikes are the same owners as their other Philly stores. They each own their own private kitchen spaces in this building to cook. It is primarily delivery so the drivers crowds the lobby all the time and cause a mess sometimes. Don’t expect coming here to get the restaurant walk in customer service experience. It’s just a lobby for take out. Pretty straightforward to me. I just order my food, wait for the text that tells me it’s ready and head over next door to pick up. Nothing bothers me. They do get real busy in the evening though so the food can sometimes take 30-40 mins unfortunately. The places I tried so far that are really good was Lale Halal, Bubbakoos, Pho Mi, Thai Yani, Koko Hibachi, Birria City, and Empanada Mama. There was a place here that sells BBQ before, sad that they seem to be closed for good.

Excessive trash and food scrap on street in front of University City Fair Food Co generated from employees and delivery workers. Employees and delivery workers have been witnessed illegally dumping on street daily. Business provides inadequate trash receptacles for employees and delivery workers and makes no effort to clean up trash generated by business. Please install adequate trash receptacles outside of your business. This has been a years long problem with no attempt at a solution. NOT A RESTAURANT. This is a pickup location for food ordered via app. Food is placed in a locker and there is one person on staff that hands you your food when you check in.

Very terrible service with picking up a order I ordered an Uber eats pick up from some Cajun daddy please I waited at this Universal City Pl. for about maybe an hour waiting on my food to be delivered there which was a little sus to me food never came the guy that worked differently told me and other people that were waiting from the same restaurant that the place was closed and that we should contact Uber for a refund now for other people that was actually doing Uber eats driving they only had to cancel the order me as a customer who actually purchased off Uber eats and was coming to pick up my own didn’t have to cancel didn’t have the option to cancel and as I contacted Uber I had a hard time and still having a hard time with Back for food I never received and I am seriously thinking about contacting corporate or some legal services because everything is just totally unprofessional with Uber and this pick up location

Never order from this place—SERIOUSLY! The wait times are INSANELY long, and they CANCEL ORDERS after you’ve already waited an HOUR. Packed with delivery guys… it’s just HORRIBLE! I’ve ordered three times—TWICE they canceled after an hour, and the third time the delivery took well over an hour. And the food? NOT GOOD. None of the restaurants inside are worth it. Cool concept, HORRIBLE execution. The ONLY reason this place is still running is because people keep ordering through Uber Eats without realizing it’s the SAME TRASH establishment.
