I don't know what has changed in morale or overall morals but UMC nurse and doctor staff of the ICU and ER are wonderful!! I have never seen such amazing care. Sophia is a champaign in what she does in the ER. The entire staff have been accommodating, kind, understanding, and they listen. Not just to my dad, but to me too. I am so impressed and have never seen this level of care at this hospital before. Thank you for the improvements and thank you for all you have done to save my dad's life.

After multiple care now clinics, I decided to have my mom be seen at UMC. The ER crew Maria RN was amazing making sure we are updated with every tests every steps needed. Making sure my mom was comfortable. ER residents and student were great. Best in Las Vegas!!!! Would not hesitate to take my mom to this hospital.

Worst hospital experience I’ve ever had. I went to the adult emergency room for pelvic bleeding and did my labs, but it took almost two hours before any doctor or nurse said a word to me. It wasn’t until I said I wanted to leave AMA that anyone suddenly showed concern—they immediately started talking to me and took me for another test. After my ultrasound, I waited another hour with no communication from anyone. When I went to discharge to sign out AMA, they told me to speak to the nurses across the hall. I asked a red-haired nurse about leaving AMA, and she just laughed and said, “Not me,” in a rude tone. I honestly felt like no one cared about me or what I was going through. The lack of communication made me feel ignored and unimportant, especially while I was scared and in pain. The only person who showed any kindness was the nurse who checked my vitals when I first arrived. Communication and compassion matter—especially when a patient is vulnerable and worried about their health.

I received both a call and a text from UMC saying they were trying to locate family for a male patient. The message identified the sender as a medical social worker from UMC. Since the call came directly from the hospital’s number, I was understandably worried that it might involve someone I know, so I called back right away to get more information. When I wasn’t able to reach the social worker, I called the hospital directly using the same number that had contacted me. When someone finally answered, the woman on the phone was incredibly rude and dismissive. I calmly explained that I had just received a call from UMC about a patient and was trying to understand what was going on. Her only response was, “I’m unsure who called you. Don’t know. Can’t help.” No attempt to transfer me, take my name, or show basic concern. This level of behavior is completely unacceptable especially in a hospital setting, where callers are often anxious, scared, and seeking answers about loved ones. The lack of empathy and professionalism I experienced was alarming. UMC should take this feedback seriously and ensure their staff are properly trained in professional communication, active listening, and compassion. No one calling a hospital in good faith should ever be treated with such disregard.

I fell and broke my hip 9/18 at 5pm. Upon arrival at the trauma center, within 10 minutes I saw a nurse and a doctor. I was wearing a rather expensive gown, and the ER nurse was able to remove that gown without cutting it off. Truly a caring nurse and so capable. I didn't believe they could do that, and not put me in additional pain. I wish I had her name. She is special! Almost immediately they were taking xrays. It took a couple of hours before I was assigned a room, but even in ER I was well taken care of, and pain meds dispensed to keep me as comfortable as possible. The orthopedic surgical team came in and interviewed me, in preparation for surgery the next day. In fact, 13 hours later, 6 am, I was in surgery having an anterior left hip replacement. The medical staff on the 4th floor West room 410-2 was amazing. I loved all my RNs and CNAs. I am so sorry I am unable to name them, but they took terrific care of me. Meds on time, they allowed me to participate in my care, and were absolutely so helpful and professional. In a hospital with announcements at least once every 45 minutes of some kind of medical code, medical emergency, etc, I have no idea how they balanced it all, but they did! Terrific care. Oh, in addition, the food was well prepared and tasty. Although I was not up to eating much, it was not due to the food. I enjoyed it all, albeit small bites. Thank you all for your great care.

At first I was concerned with some of the reviews I read. But was glad when one said don't go by those bad reviews. I went in today with an open mind and I'm glad I did. I had a very pleasant experience. Front office workers were very friendly and nice. Sara was very helpful and the other receptionist I think her name was Nell was very nice. I had read reports about Tanya Walker but I found her to be very nice not rude like other reviews said. She dealt with most of my issues and concerns which were a lot. She showed very much patience and took her time with me. I had originally wanted to see her and I'm glad i did.The office was very nice and clean. It was a very good visit. I will be returning.

I recently had my baby at UMC. The personnel was amazing. Super friendly and attentive. My experience was more than I could hope for. I had a complicated delivery and they literally saved my life and they continue to care for my baby in the NICU. I am so glad I chose UMC in the decision to expand my family.

I came here thinking I was doing the right thing because I had been throwing up for nine hours straight unable to hold food down unable to hold water down. My body was actively crashing. I was checked into the emergency room and I wasn’t started treatment on until four hours later and that was only because my boyfriend advocated for me and grabbed a nurse from the main lobby, letting them know that I was actively passing out in their care. It felt like the most dystopian experience of my life - like I just entered an emergency room in a Third World country. That’s how bad my experience was. The hospital was extremely dirty. They had me laying on a dirty sheet with dried up blood on it. I had to constantly beg the nurses to start treatment on me. I had to threaten them several times that I was leaving, and I wanted to refund because they were refusing to help me after I put a deposit down. They were reading out people’s diagnosis and a huge hallway with 30 other patients so everyone that was in the hallway I found out what they were diagnosed with, which quite frankly was none of my business and neither was what I was diagnosed with their business. I wasn’t offered to be taken into a back room to have my diagnosis read off. They decided to read it out in front of everyone.. read the reviews and take them seriously!!! I will never step foot back into this hospital again how I was treated was very unfairly and just watching how everyone else was treated was absolutely Disgusting. If you have health insurance shit, even if you don’t have health insurance, go anywhere else please do not go to this hospital. I was there for roughly 8 hours and all they did was give me one bag of IV and nausea medication that’s Literally all they did… and somehow I was there for 8 hours. I would recommend a lot more people look into talking to a lawyer because a lot of the practice is going on at this hospital are illegal. The photo I’m pairing is from if bruising I had the IV on July 19 & this bruising is from July 23.

Yelp
This was my first visit to UMC Hospital. The registration employee sat me down for my pre-op instructions without taking me to the lab first. 30 minutes later and they called another person who arrived after me so I checked on my appointment. That's when I was told that the registration employee should have dropped me off at the lab. Luckily, I was walked over to the labs and everything went smoothly after that. They have security right when you walk in. I'm not sure why. They also have a cafeteria near the main entrance. You're provided with a visitor badge upon entry. Just drop this badge off when you leave

Yelp
WARNING! DON'T GO TO THIS PLACE! YOU WILL SUFFER LIKE I DID! I went to the UMC emergency room. I had excruciating shooting pains in my right leg. To make this short. The Doctor I saw told me nothing was wrong with me. And that I had forced him to take a MRI of my spine. The nurses told me, "Get out of here!" Yes. True! A very uncaring Doctor & staff. To find out. I needed Laminectomy surgery. I found this out when I went to Mountain View hospital emergency room for the same pain. They referred me to a Spine Surgeon. He saw that the bone in my spine was growing into a nerve! It was very painful!! My Doctor at Mountain View used the MRI to diagnose what was wrong with me. DON'T GO TO UMC EMERGENCY ROOM! THEY ARE NOT NICE PEOPLE! THEY WILL NOT HELP YOU GET WELL!

Leslie W.

Yelp
Reply to contact patients advocate, I did i met with person in charge of the 3rd floor, wrote to Ceo no response. Nothing was accomplished. No nothing, I still think UMC is the worst hospital I have dealt with. I have had 8 surgeries been in and out of hospitals in Illinois and California , UMC is by far the dirtiest hospital I have ever been in. The country shut down for covid, all hospitals but UMC has protocol when someone has been tested and results haven't determined if person is negative or positive. There should be isolation for person tested until results are in. You put a person in my mom's room, who is 88 in for heart procedure, on oxygen and fluid in the lungs. That was the worst thing the hospital did was infect someone with those issues. UMC would be the last hospital I would go to even if I was dying.

Yelp
The type of care was very decent. The office experience was very pleasant. They care quality was decent as well. I would definitely get this place at thumbs up.

Yelp
Go somewhere else, Outline of patient/grievaces; UMC/Shareholders strike me much more of a pre-school level baby sitters. My wife was in a car accident and upper mgmt prescribed Tylenol, benadryl and Atarax. To say the least I was very insulted and infuriated. Wait times are asinine, you'll end up next to som junky puking his guts out all over himself for you even get an IV, let alone a bed. Upper board members/Docs/Shareholders here are careless/unqualified and inexperience. Your's truly, A caring neighbor,

Ariel S.

Yelp
Wow! excellent service! over the days that we were there we probably interacted with many dozens of people. Every single person was wonderful and made us feel incredibly comfortable and heard. This is our first child, and UMC made a safe delivery possible, despite some complications. I'd love to go through and name everyone that helped us tremendously, but there were so many of you so I just want to thank the entire team. Thank you again.

Yelp
Today I had a very disappointing experience. Despite arriving early for my appointment I waited over 3 hours before being seen. The staff was Dismissive and unhelpful when I asked for an update. When I finally say the doctor they seemed rushed and didn't take time to answer my question this left me feeling ignored and anxious about my care. For a hospital that is supposed to prioritize patient well being , the lack compassion and organization.

Yelp
The check in area day of surgery had 30 people waiting to check in, and one lady doing the check in. No procedure posted. People wondering what is going on? You put your name on a sticker the lady takes it and calls 20 other names before you? What a mess! Everyone is confused,, and when you approach the ONE person checking in,, she's completely rude and annoyed. UMC post the procedure somewhere or hire another person!

Yelp
Terrible experience. This is the third emergency room that I've been to for the same reason all because the UNLV ENT told me to come here because of my symptoms and that they have ENTs on site. I came here in hopes of being treated for severe ear pain/sensitivity to sound etc. The nurse that saw me was Jamie Planes. She was very careless and never even sent the doctor in to see me. I've never been to an emergency room where the actual provider doesn't even come speak to you. She did the bare minimum then had the nerve to tell me she didn't want to lose her license by prescribing me medication. Once I said "wouldn't you still be at risk of losing your license if you send me home and then something happens to me later?" After that she came back with the prescription. I also didn't like her attitude. I find it funny because I guarantee at her young age if she couldn't hang out with family/friends, had to cancel all her scheduled events and shelter herself at home because she couldn't handle loud noises due to excruciating pain, I'm PRETTY SURE she'd be upset too. This is exactly why Nevada is one of the last in the nation in medical care. Who is giving these doctors/nurses their licenses? What a joke. This has been ongoing for MONTHS. I've been to 3 different ERs, 2 different ENTs and my primary 3-4 times and not one of them has cared to treat me or even do deeper tests. If you don't care about others you have no business being in the healthcare field!! This UMC emergency room was the last place I went to hoping I'd get treatment seeing how they have ENTs but no. I got sent home and I'm still in severe pain with noise. This is affecting my quality of life. I had 3 get togethers that I had planned, a flight and a concert. Literally had to cancel all of them. Instead I have to sit at home in silence because my ear can't handle it and everyday is another day I'm going untreated. This isn't fair

Yelp
I belive that if it was for Doctor Cook and his Team of excellent doctors I wouldn't be writing this. was born in Umc in 1966 and I only trust the doctors of Umc thank you

Yelp
Terrible ER The attitude from the staff. That works there.. yesterday my wife was waiting to be seen the staff was gossiping. Not caring about the patients. My Wife waited. Three hours to get discharge paperwork, and the whole time the nurse had them in her hands terrible.

Claudia P.

Yelp
I love this place, ! I gave birth to all my 9 children here and I wouldn't change it . Both my daughters had their appendix removed here . The nurses and the volunteers at the play room and throughout the 2nd floor ,made their recovery a pleasant one. Currently my son was admitted and so far we feel like home.

Yelp
I can't say enough about how amazing everyone was during my stay. I came into the ER with right-sided weakness, blurry vision, and a droopy face, and the doctors and nurses there jumped into action right away, making me feel safe from the start. Up in the neuro unit, Nurse Jasmine and CNA Angie were both so friendly and genuinely caring, it really helped me relax. All the specialists and doctors made sure I understood everything, answered my questions, and involved me in every decision. I'm leaving 2 days after having a stroke, with all my symptoms gone, and I honestly feel great thanks to their awesome teamwork and kindness.

Yelp
Billing department needs an overhaul. Can't get anyone to answer the phone or call back . Terminal hold. Wrong codes sent for payment. EOB not sent to primary correctly. Payment denied by secondary. Bill sent after nine months!!! Would like,to get this taken care of but absolutely no help!!

Yelp
Excellent service from all the staff, nurses, doctors and all very friendly and dedicated staff

Yelp
Took my husband to the ER with severe headache shortness of breath . He had not eaten for 3 days and had chills and rigors. He is on immunotherapy. I explained to them that it was probably adverse effect of Keytruda. In this ER for a city of 3 million , the ER. Physician had never seen or heard of side effects from immunotherapy! What the mind does not know the eyes cannot see. Asked for iv fluids to b given. Nurse argued he already had an IV . I told her it was a heplock.ultimately I had to have Uber drop off water for him. Then they simply ignored he had shaking chills. Not even a blanket!! Ultimately they found nothing and I strong armed them into giving a dose of steroid which reversed everything within 2 hours. I asked for a CT or MRI of his head. The RN said that the angiogram of his chest would show his brain in detail. Ha ha The bathroom in the ER had a non functioning soap dispenser. It took 3 complaints and no fix x 3 hrs. Finally I corralled a janitor who fixed it. There were 30 people with dirty hands one of which had diarrhea. This center rakes in more than 155 million. Admin needs to b fired. RN s run a disinformation derby. Doctors need to be schooled in immunotherapy side effects. Shame . I advise all patients to have an advocate with them.

Yelp
This is absolutely the best hospital that I have ever been to. The doctors and nurses, and the other staff care about their patients and they go above and beyond. I received excellent care and ended up getting a referral for an excellent primary care doctor as well. Thank you UMC for helping and caring about my health.

Yelp
Hands down these Dr.s , nurses, and staff are top notch. I was a patient for over a week in this hospital and every single nurse, Dr. And staff treated me with respect, dignity, and professalisum. I didn't have one single complaint about anyone in this hospital and I definitely was working with well over 20 deferent people . I would recommend this hospital over any hospital in Las Vegas. The ER and the 5 th floor nurses are the absolute best. Thank you to all who helped take great care of me. I love you all. Paul room 511 !!!!!!

Yelp
This place was awful (except for three people who were awesome. Sarah and Angel for two on the awesome side. I don't know the name of the other person.) In the end --the awfulness comes down to two prior a tall black woman whose name I didn't get and a charge nurse. They both treated me as if I were an environmental toxin. I'm legally blind and they made me physically uncomfortable by crowding me and blocking my way. (and making loud jokes about me intentionally being in their way.) She fake offered help with something so she could be offended by my rejection (I was dragging a chair that she told me I couldn't use because it belonged from other side of the double room "a patient is moving in here!" Still no patient over an hour later.) She was aggressive and abrasive. My husband is the patient. He was on a phone call when she scolded me and he asked for quiet. She made jazz hands and squealed loudly "oooh quiet! We got somebody who think they important!!!" The charge nurse spent 17 minutes defending the action of a person who left David bleeding. I wasn't the patient so I videoed her ridiculous excuses. Avoid this place if possible.

Yelp
Kind, thoughtful ER staff and GI Drs took the time to find out what the root cause of the problems the patient was having, and set up a plan to help the patient. Then the expert team of GI Drs did the surgery on the patient, and the patient is now able to eat and drink fluids, and have a life again. Amazing Drs and staff there that help the patients. Unfortunately another hospital had seen the same patient several times in their ER locations recently and never solved any of the patients problems but sent them back home with them. Send your friends and loved ones here the staff at UMC they will take outstanding care of them.

Robert R.

Yelp
Took my wife to UMC Quick Care, here in Las Vegas. They suggested she go to the hospital emergency dept. for further tests. Quick Care gave us paperwork for the emergency dept. and messaged the UMC emergency department to let them know we were on the way. Within 2 minutes of walking in the door she was already starting the tests. She had EKG, CT scan, X-rays, and extensive blood tests within 1 hour of arriving! Gave her 22 pages of diagnosis and recommendations to pass on to her primary care physician.

Warren D.

Yelp
The worst hospital in the state of Nevada! A complete lack of respect for the patients. I pressed the call button on 2 separate occasions in 2 days and they ignore your call. A veterinarian would be better than this hospital. All they care about is if your insurance is in order. This place is a complete joke.

Yelp
The worst er ever. Waited 5 hours and still waiting. My mother is in serious pain and can't get any help. Got transferred from another hospital only to sit here for 5 HOURS.

Yelp
REVIEW ON CARE RECEIVED FROM UMCSN FOR MY SISTER: October 12, 2023, Thursday - My sister was brought UMC Urgent Care in Summerlin because she was complaining of pain on the neck and shoulder and that she was not feeling well. The attending physician at the Urgent Care prescribed her the following medication on that day: Acyclovir, Baclofen, Gentamicin and Naproxen. The Nurse Practitioner wrote the prescription for Baclofen 20 MG 1 TABLET TO BE GIVEN BY MOUTH EVERY 6 HOURS AS NEEDED FOR MUSCLE SPASM. October 12 - October 20, 2023 - From the Urgent Care she was transported to UMC Hospital located on Charleston Blvd. They continued giving her Baclofen during her stay at the hospital. October 20 - November 10, 2023 - She was transferred to Las Ventanas in Summerlin for a 3-week rehabilitation. They continued administering Baclofen to her at the rehab center. November 10 - November 17, 2023 - She was home recovering and went to her regular dialysis schedule. On Friday, Nov 17th when she got home from dialysis she was complaining of pain on the neck. She had dinner, took Baclofen for the pain and went to bed. November 18, 2023 (Saturday) - Around 9 AM they tried to wake her up so she can eat breakfast and take her medication, but she couldn't get up and she was very weak and disoriented. She could not eat and was just laying down not looking well. In the afternoon they called 911. The paramedics took her to UMC Hospital on Charleston Blvd. Her siblings followed to the ER and stayed there till midnight. The attending physician at the ER told them that they could not see anything wrong with Rosario. Baclofen was administered to her during her stay at this hospital. November 19, 2023 (Sunday) - When her siblings visited her early morning, they were surprised to see her intubated and in the ICU. The hospital performed dialysis on her at a normal speed for 4 hours. They told our siblings that they will put her on her regular dialysis schedule. November 20, 2023 (Monday) - She was intubated at the ICU. November 21, 2023 (Tuesday) - She was intubated at the ICU. November 22, 2023 (Wednesday) - I think it was on this day when the doctor visited her at the ICU when her niece in Chicago requested the doctor to test the level of the Baclofen's toxicity in her system and the doctor said that it will be of no use at that point since it was already flushed out during the dialysis. November 23, 2023 (Thursday-Thanksgiving Day) In the morning around 9 AM a sibling talked to a nurse in the ICU and asked if they can do something about the tube because she was having a hard time with it. After a couple of hours, the sibling talked a male doctor, and this doctor clearly said to the sibling that they should not have given the Baclofen to her and the nurse was there listening. November 24, 2023 (Friday) - She was taken off the tube and was moved to a different ICU room. November 25, 2023 (Saturday) - She was still lying in the ICU. November 26, 2023 (Sunday) - She passed away around 8:45AM. There was a difference of judgement in administering Baclofen to her at the hospital's facilities. The doctor at the Urgent Care prescribed it but the doctor at the ICU stated that she should not have been given Baclofen. Her family had an urgent request for the hospital's administration to seriously look into this matter and to take strong measures to ensure that this wrong prescription/dosage which was fatal NOT happen to another patient in the future and reprimand the responsible parties. After 11 days of receipt of our email, this is all they can say: "After review of your sister's medical record, I am unable to find documentation that you were her designated Power of Attorney (POA) or delineated as next-of-kin. Due to Federal patient privacy HIPAA) laws, I am unable to discuss the specifics of your sister's care with you. However, as with all concerns regarding the quality of care and services rendered by UMC, an investigation is conducted by staff from the Center for Quality & Patient Safety and associated department leaders. This includes a review of the medical record and discussion with members of our healthcare team. Our sincerest condolences to you and your family. We are grateful for your feedback which assists us in improving our care and services. As of the date of this correspondence, UMC considers this matter to be closed." The patient's family does not find any closure from the response.

Hector H.

Yelp

The Receptionist Denise was so kind and friendly and helpful, like talking with friend. Yelp
My 29 yr old daughter had a major surgery on her elbow. She was scared and had a few anxiety attacks after the surgery but they knew how to calm her down. Her surgeon, Dr B. Romero and his colleagues were phenomenal. He did what seemed like the impossible and he did it with care and confidence. Nurse Amy was the absolute best! If my daughter was in pain after coming off her nerve blocker(she had a nerve blocker twice) in the middle of the night she immediately came to my daughter's aid as soon she came on shift and made her feel more comfortable and relaxed. She was present, has a wonderful personality, and knows her job well. I honestly don't know how my daughter would have made it through with her sanity intact if it weren't for Nurse Amy! Nurse Melinda was also very helpful and made sure that my daughter was taken care of and Nurse Jennifer brought smiles and sunshine to the room every time she came in. If you ever get that three person combo you will be in for a treat! Did I mention that Nurse Amy is the best?! We looked forward to her coming on shift every single day of my daughter's 3 day stay. My daughter was happy and taken care of during Nurse Amy's entire shift! She was like family to us and obviously cared about our daughter's wellbeing. Every aspect of my daughter's care was great. They have a holistic team that taught my daughter how manage pain at home and an occupational therapist that made sure she would be able to function with the use of only one arm at home. She was prepared both mentally and physically by the time she was discharged and a week after surgery she is doing amazingly well at home. I can't thank her team of nurses and her doctors enough. Thank you UMC!

Mary O.

Yelp
From the get-go, total respect. Received the care I needed with a smile every time. Patience, understanding, empathy, knowledge, experience, diplomacy courtesy, explanation, clarification, detail... I couldn't ask for better. I expected six hours arriving at 11:30 AM, I was out in about four ... And they were on ALERT with the cyber attack all day ‍and had all the overflow from the hospital. Not one complaint overheard. Pure professionalism. Plan on 8 AM if you want to get out sooner (if you can plan your visit!?). BE WELL‍‍‍‍‍

Yelp
Incompetent and intentional lack of care. Upon arrival for stomach issues, looking forward to help with two months of severe gastritis, it was the worse waste of time and lack of any care. Don't go here. The front desk copied the front/back of my insurance card. During the exam, the PA was fine, but the main provider began looking into records from other appointments I had with providers years ago in Epic. That would make sense if this was something I had ongoing history of. There was no history of my current condition. I was in disabling pain for a month before getting to this appointment. Despite ongoing attempts to explain my pain and try go get answers or a treatment plan, this provider DID NOT provide any care. She was combative each time I tried to circle the conversation back to my pain that was preventing me from sleeping through the night, that was causing nausea etc. No, she ignored all of that. I requested a H pylori test. I did get this REQ however it is useless if you CURRENTLY using PPI as a necessity to limit ulcer pain. The provider did not: prescribe a PPI or offer any other treatment. That is 100% lack of care. When I was able to see a GI doc a month later, I was immediately prescribed Pantoprazole. If this office cared at a basic level, and if they were actual Professionals, they should have provided that script. It would not be past them to take advantage of anyone with a language barrier. 1. When I left, I noticed they scheduled me for a f/u appointment but never told me.  You do not self schedule someone without their permission. If someone has a language barrier this could be worse. 2. I received a bill in the mail and found the cost a bit high as I was using insurance. I called the billing dept and the girl confirmed my insurance info was there, but "they "did not check the box to process it. This a very easy way to make money when you think no one is looking; and you can say "it was a mistake." Total scam. The new bill was $85 less than their first invoice. IF the providers behave this way it speaks to UMC in general and their billing practices.

Yelp
Not here by choice, but ends up being very good. Family from this area got severely ill and ambulance came here. People are nice and caring. Place is clean. Administration good too.

Yelp
If I could give 0* I would. Their medical billing staff is a joke, they will tell you one price assuring that's the full amount, then send you a ridiculous bill!!! Apparently They can lie just to get you in the door! Then it's "oh it was a possible cost" despite the fact that there is supposed to be legislation where the medical industry has to be upfront with their fees. For my son, we were told it was a Total out the door $330. procedure (she already looked at our insurance) but it followed up with a $2,300. bill with NO breakdown of fees- ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! Now lets talk about how everything else went at time of- My son 20yrs (still eating a lot) had to fast, arrive by 6am for an 8am procedure time. 8am came and went with no information as to why he wasn't even called into the back for prepping. There wasn't even staff to ask walking around. By 10:15 I had to call in asking what was going on, if the doctor was even going to show. I was told "they just pulled his chart and he'll be called back shortly" - ok, fingers crossed, he's already starving by now. 10:30 he gets called back for prepping, excited it's almost over, should be in and out. Not the case- The doctor didn't show up till 11:30 and he was finally called back just after 12pm Why tell patients to be there at a certain time when they themselves do not show up on time or give any information about why they're behind!?! Unfortunately, in Las Vegas, there's not a lot of options of where to go- if you HAVE to go here, just be prepared for hours of waiting and a ridiculous bill

Yelp
Had an out of state emergency. And the ER process was horrible. They just sit everyone in the lobby. Staff was polite and working hard. Their process was awful.

Yelp
My Dad had COVID and he died here. I don't believe they tried as hard as they could of to help him. The pallative team where HORRIBLE and MEAN. They pressured me into choices I regret. If you have a serious illness, go elsewhere.

Yelp
UMC our local trauma hospital. Nothing bad to say, they do their job, no matter what's going on in the world. My respects to the men and women who work there and any other hospitals, and do their jobs from their heart. I don't think my friend had any complaints. We brought flowers but couldn't get it inside the room, so the nurse let us keep it on their station until her family could take it home-thank you. Hope my friend gets home soon . Praying for her speedy recovery.

Yelp
I flew into Las Vegas and went directly to the Emergency Room at University Medical Center. From the moment I arrived the care was amazing. Nurse Mary placed me in a wheelchair chair due to classic signs of a blood clot in my leg. The registration clerk, Leslie, was cheerful. Nurse Ernesto immediately documented my medical information. After that, nurse Kristen, pulled me back to a space and thoroughly explained the ER process. Dr. Giles and Dr. Dillon examined my leg and ordered all the necessary tests. Based on my experience at UMC I would highly recommend this hospital. They treat people with dignity, maintain a high level of safety and professionalism.

Yelp
I went to ER based on UMB Quick Care to check out inflamed tongue. Blood and CAT scans were performed. After 7 hours in the front of the ER room I was moved to the back. After 3 more hours of waiting for results 2 DR's told me they keep calling "radiology" for the reading but were not responding to phone calls. 4 more hours passed and still NO answer. I started feeling faint because there was NO WATER or NO VENDING machine to eat something. I told 5 DR's or Nurses and was told to "sit and wait". After 14 hours I asked to check myself out. This request took 90 minutes to get the paperwork going. After I walked out 15 hours later I had to call LYFT to drive me home because I was too light headed. Now here is the problem... 2 weeks later they billed my insurance 13k which resulted in me paying 1300... for what? NO RESULTS. NO ANSWERS. And then the text messages on my phone came EVERY DAY saying, in essence, "pay your bill". So let me set this straight - you get NO SERVICE and NO ANSWERS and yet they want payment NOW for what... nothing! Sorry, this place is a complete JOKE and everyone needs to go to Spring Valley or something similar and STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

Yelp
Went to UMC Emergency with sever shortness of breath and couldn't walk 20 feet, a lot of discomfort in my chest. Was there for 9.5 hours, eight of that just waiting. during that period three different doctors came in, all with a different opinion of what my problem was. I have no insurance and was concerned about the cost of test or procedures they suggested. They claimed they have no access to cost and there was no one at the hospital that could provide that information. The last time I went to an emergency room and agreed to test without knowing the cost I got a $78,000+ bill for a CT and xray. It looked to me like this was going in the same direction so i walked out, in the end, I was right as they sent me a $10,000 bill for basically nothing. I disputed the bill with five letters, six e-mails, six phone attempts to contact them, three voice mails, didn't receive the courtesy of one response. That say a lot about UMC professionalism and real priorities. Bottom line, they are incompetent and arrogant, my opinion. Never again.

Yelp
I went for a routine angiogram, ended having a triple bypass and after going home, 3-4 days later was rushed back there with an obstruction in my small intestine. I can't say enough about the quality of the surgical staff down to the nurses and CNA's that cared for me during the total of 30+ days I spend there. two surgeries in 10 days, both major surgeries. will go back there if there is ever another need for quality care.

Yelp
If I could give them negative starts I would. I've been coming here for years and every time I come they get worse and worse with their doctors. Especially the ER ones. I came in with chest pains and shortness of breath. Did tests to tell me I'm not having a heart attack so I can go home. I also said that my throat is swollen since being here and hurts to swallow the doctor looked at me pretending to look in my mouth with his cell phone light to say it looks fine. What part of swollen, bright red with white spots on the back of my throat is fine. Then I got told I'd be discharged now to give them 5 minutes which has been 30 minutes ago still no sight of any nurse, doctor, or CNA. Having lupus I shouldn't be around sick ppl and I'm in 1 room full of 12 ppl having all different symptoms. They use the same blood pressure cuff that isn't sanitized between patients and well as the O2 monitor. So done with these doctors treating patients like they're just here for pain meds I get strong meds don't need to rack up hospital bills for that! Dr Devon Moore was the last doctor to see me and is the 1 who use his flashlight on his personal cell phone to pretend to look down my throat.

Yelp
Today February 27, 2024 I went to UMC to visit a friend who had been hospitalized Everything is under construction and I couldn't find a place to park. I pulled alongside of a university police officer and asked if there was anywhere else for me to park and he was so wonderful. He removed some orange cones so I could park and visit my friend. Then I went inside and stopped at the check in counter, and they were so gracious. They told me exactly where to go to find my friend and they gave me a bottle of water. Then I'm down the hallway, a little confused trying to figure out which elevator I was supposed to take in the long comes another UMC employee to say what can I help you with, and she took me directly to the right elevator that led me directly to the right floor where my friend was My friend went 10 days she's been there. She has been treated so wonderful she's been on the fifth floor as well as ICU and she said she was treated so great and well taken care of. I'm happy to say, my friend is recovered, and will be home tomorrow. I am so grateful to God for her care and for UMC.

Yelp
Some of the CNA's here suck salty balls. I had major surgery and had not eaten in 27 hours. A CNA brings me food and says oh don't eat I have to check your diet, 30 min go by and she never said it was ok for me to eat. This was at 11:00 pm. Who does that? I jokingly said that this is my time share as it's my 4th visit in 11 months (3 not by choice) and that the staff is at my beck and call but it takes 30 min or so to get the service. I know these nurses are busy but some of the things I've been said are really unacceptable or inappropriate. I'm only at this facility because my favorite doctor only operates here. Scott - instead of directing me to patient experience being an in-patient your case manager should do his/her job to follow protocol and get me out before my 24 hour when I was supposed to be here at the hospital for observation for 23 hours. If I would review the hospital based on my doctors and the nurses it would be a 5 star but social services and case managment bring the rating to a zero!!

Yelp
I was admitted to UMC for bleeding internally. The GI team did a scope down my throat. When Dr. Wahgne came in to give me the results he said I was not bleeding. I told him I had stomach pain. I asked if I could go home. I really wanted out of this hospital. He said this isn't a prison I will discharge you. As they were discharging me I started bleeding again. Porchsa the one nurse came in and handed me some wipes. She called the nurse that was assigned to me Joecyln. When Joecyln came in she said I have to see if your bleeding. I showed her. She said she would tell Dr. Wahgne. She comes back 5 minutes later and says the Dr. says I was not bleeding. I knew if I wanted to live I needed to get out of UMC Hospital. I WOULD NOT SEND AN ANT FROM A PICNIC TO UMC.

Yelp
from the arrival to discharge service was A+, everyone was attentive, patient and empathetic, great job!

Yelp
if you read my nightmare ordeals from Spring Valley Hospital after all the surgeries I had there, I said I'd never go back and hoped I never had to have another surgery again. Well I had to! After I healed from the last surgery I ended up needing another one 8 months after the other one. I ended up having a bunch of incisional Hernias from the previous surgeries that I had. ( This can be a common thing after surgeries, I guess?) So I requested to go to a different hospital , and I was lucky enough that my Surgeons office is right next door to UMC too. (He has another office also near the other one) My Surgeon Scott Gabriel: Dr. Scott T. Gabriel is a general surgeon in Las Vegas, Nevada and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area. He has been in practice between 11-20 years. SPECIALTY Surgeons operate repair or removed damaged or diseased tissue. General surgeons focus on the organs within the abdomen, including the stomach and colon. Many surgeons specialize on specific conditions or areas of the body, He is the Best!!!! He not only fixed my hernias but cut away all my old scar tissues. (This was my 5th Surgery) This time I was finally stapled up and closed up compared to being left open in the last 2 surgeries He is an awesome Surgeon and I highly recommend him!! This hospital was so much better too. Everyone was so professional, friendly and caring. Such a difference from the other hospital. Thank God I am doing so much better since the beginning of this nightmare and it's behind me, I don't ever want to go through anything like I did again.

Yelp
NOBODY in this building knows what's going on. Going on 9hrs of waiting on a nurse, doctor, anyone to talk to us. I've asked at least 12 different people who work here to let us know what going on. They all look at me like I have 3 heads. It's almost unbelievable. Whoever is in charge of this place is a COMPLETE moron. Please God don't let me end up in here someday if it's life threatening. ZERO STARS.

Yelp
Came here with my mom To have a procedure done. Wait time is extremely long. The person who took blood was horrible. She caused my mom a lot of pain The staff does not communicate and is not friendly. Never again I will use this hospital. Will find a different doctor that works at a different hospital

Yelp
I did not choose UMC, the doctor did and it was a terrifying and horrid experience. So first off, there is no parking and my wife got an expensive parking ticket for being 10 minutes late being in the 3 hour zone. She was late because they made me wait and would not let her out the door to move the vehicle. Since Clark County runs the hospital and the parking police, this appears to be a sleazy way to profit off or people's medical issues. So the hospital is too small and very outdated. You of course don't get your own room. A head injury patient needs rest after surgery, but they bring this other poor dude in at 2 in the morning. He is in bad shape so the entire staff was in the room and put on glaring overhead lights. Think about having massive head pain and you have to put a hospital sheet over your head just to avoid pain from bright lights! The noise was off the charts and I had to ask them for ear plugs. When they were finished, the jackhammers outside started at 7 am. They are rebuilding the parking lot. So I got no sleep for 16 hours after the surgery. The bathroom in the ICU was a small toilet under a cabinet. That was it. You don't get to take a shower at UMC - none of the rooms have them. And do you really need to be so worried when you are hurt? Two rooms down in the ICU was a guy in a bed with a concerned looking armed police officer next to him. Was he in an officer involved shooting? I'm sure it was safe with all the police crawling around! The punchline - when I was discharged, they give me a bottle of water that says "UMC - the most Sophisticated Hospital in Nevada"! I would hate to see the least! At least that put a smile on my face! I will give 2 stars because the nurses were nice and overworked, but will never return to this dungeon again.
