Even though we drove from Carlsbad and had to wait 10 hours to get into an ER room, the care was phenomenal once we got into a room. 5th floor nurses Rose, Mara, Angel, and Maebelle were the best nurses we have ever had at any hospital. The were friendly, funny, and very attentive. Dr. Gonzales from cardiology took a lot of time to give a great explanation of my husband's heart failure issue. The care was grealy appreciated. The food service workers were great as well. Keep up the excellent care.

If I could give this hospital a negative 5 stars I would. The OBGYN doctor's here are worse then awful and they are training more doctor's to be even more awful. They do not listen, they do not care about your care, they lie, they have 0% empathy, compassion, as well as no bed side manners. If you want to have the worst experience giving birth, healing, and bounding with your baby then this is the hospital for you. I came in to give birth to my daughter ( not my first child ) I let them know I have complications tearing up to please listen to me and cut if I start tearing up. They did not listen and not only did I tear up and through a blood vessel I also tore down through muscle. I required around 20 stitches. I was told by 1 doctor that I would receive adequate pain medication to handle the pain, this was right before shift change so the order did not get put in. So No not at all I was told by the rest of the doctors that unless you have a C section, vaginal deliveries ( even with tearing up the side of your clitoris and down your rectum) do not require more then Tylenol and Ibuprofen. I have been in so much pain that I could not even sleep, I was awake for 38 hours before finally I was able to fall asleep for 3 hours. They would come in because my nurses would call them for me, where I was crying my eyes out in the most pain I have ever felt and there behavior was disrespectful and rude with 0% compassion. I asked for them to examine the stitches to see if something was wrong and for them to see for themselves how much pain I am in and they did not. I want to make it clear that my nurses have been amazing. But the doctors and this hospital reminds me of a 3rd world hospital for cruel torture. For doctors to see you in that much pain and treat you the way that these doctors do shows how far we have fallen. It is about money not about any kind of quality of care or becoming a doctor because you want to help, heal, and provide good care.

Hospitals usually only receive negative reviews. However, UMC, a large teaching hospital in our rural area, provided great care to my husband a couple months ago. My husband had to spend a week or so there, from the emergency department to the burn unit and the medical-surgical floor… everyone we encountered was incredibly professional and caring. I’ve been waiting for a survey in the mail, but I haven’t received it yet. It’s been a couple of months, so I’ve forgotten some of the names of those who cared for us, but we are incredibly grateful to the nurse technicians, wound care staff, icu and med/surg nurses, nurse practitioners, surgeons, anesthesiologists, residents, kitchen staff, and cleaning staff who took care of us. We were struggling, but they made our experience much better. I hope some of them read this because, seriously, thank you.

Every time I go in for my mammogram the staff is so polite and so welcoming. I enjoy going to this facility. Plus they get you in very quickly. The one performing the mammogram is very respectful and nice. She listens to any concerns that you may have. I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Wonderful job ladies!!🥰

My fiancé is supposed to be starting chemo. We were told it would be within the first week of October and if we heard nothing to call. We have called time after time and can’t even get someone to answer the phone to ask about the referral. His urologist office said they have sent it and we need to talk to the referral office but all we ever get is a voicemail system and we have left a name and number for a call back and still nothing!! Even his PCP has tried calling and can’t get anyone to answer!!! Do better UMC!

Dr. Santana, and the nurses and CNA’S on 3 East are rockstars! So compassionate, professional and caring. They have made a hospital stay a positive experience. Many thanks to you all. Thank you for all you do to help your patients. You are very much appreciated!♥️

If you have a choice, choose death over UMC. Just make yourself comfortable and embrace the sweet release of oblivion. I've gone from generally able bodied to insolvent and despondent because of them. From off the shelf DME to specialty DME no one at the home health or facilities has ever seen. Theres no hope of repairing the damage the physicians and surgeon did to me or handling the never ending nightmare I deal with now.
