Proud to get my MS and BS in CS here. Food on campus is terrible. Prices are too high. Rents are high. Parking is awful. But I love the faculty and peers. Neither best nor worst memories in life. Moving on.

I've tried several times to attend in the school has been most accommodating. It's still not certain that I won't make it there. I have the grants I have scholarship offers. It's just finding the time. This is a school. I highly recommend you're close to the beach times and you have the wonderful scenery of California. Great vibes.

We came to visit. Ali, she was our tour guide. Fantastic, she gave us a good tour and answered all our questions. I am sure she is a success and will have great future. University is amazing 7.5 times bigger than Disney land and library has 5 billion, plus books. We loved it. Came back for parents day. Informative.

UCSD is a really beautiful campus set on the hills in La Jolla, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. I’m serious, it’s amazing !The professors really do care about reaching each student and giving them the knowledge needed to be successful but the real feather in the UCSD cap is the RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES EVEN FOR FRESHMAN STUDENTS ! Great school, dedicated profs, Gorgeous campus, amazing diverse restaurants on campus, smart hardworking students and fabulous research opportunities. What more can you ask from a university ?? This place is Awesome.

Google
A wonderful environment to spend a day, even if you are not a student at UCSD. There is incredible architecture all around (hop on a campus tour if one is leaving soon). There are plenty of places to lounge around - indoor or outdoor. Make sure you visit Geisel library, great building and you want a pic with Dr. Seuss. Relive your youth here. :)

Google
UCSD is intense, yes — but it’s transparent, professional, and genuinely student-focused. People here don’t just pretend to care — they actually help. I’ve met faculty who answer questions without ego, and peers who collaborate without backstabbing. That’s a sharp contrast to what I experienced at UC Davis, where there was a constant undercurrent of politics, fake friendliness, and silent pressure. If you didn’t play the game or flatter the right people, you were frozen out. Being independent or different at UC Davis felt like a liability. At UCSD, it feels like a strength. The difference is night and day. UCSD challenges you to grow. UC Davis challenges you to survive toxic dynamics. UC Davis wants prestige. UCSD earns respect. Let me be blunt: I do not want some dirt on my cloth so prefer to switch the cloth any way

Google
It is no doubt to give five stars to UC San Diego. Big space, well infrastructure, and new construction going to host students on campus. Highly professional teachers and administrative staffs are the keys to the choice of matter.

Google
I recently visited UC San Diego and was truly impressed by the campus’s modern design, coastal beauty, and welcoming atmosphere. Nestled near the Pacific Ocean, the university offers a peaceful yet stimulating environment perfect for learning and exploration. I spoke with several students who shared how much they appreciated the supportive faculty and the strong emphasis on research and innovation. The diverse range of academic programs and interdisciplinary opportunities stood out as a major strength. Walking through the campus, I also noticed a strong sense of community and collaboration among students. Overall, my visit to UCSD gave me a deep appreciation for its academic excellence and vibrant, forward-thinking culture.

Yelp
No matter what season it is, it's been a quiet Campus day or night when I've visited. If you're lucky you can see a cute bunny on the lawn. There are magnolia trees and roses. It's a large campus. There are limited handicap stalls. Eighth college and The Bistro are the newest additions. Laundry facilities look top notch. The architecture throughout the campuses are interesting. There's also safety phones.

Yelp
Charges three times the price of SDSU. The cost is not justified by the education. Extremely bloated, bureaucratic and antiquated policies and requirements. Known for churning out STEM majors. Nothing to offer in majors other than STEM. The Elite and five star reviews are paid ads.

Yelp
UC San Diego opened their own Blue Line trolley extension on campus. The festivities were really fun - Chinese New Year dragon, people on stilts, musics stations, freebies, face painting, community tents representing. We bought some locally produced cookies. Walked around and chatted with all the local vendors. Such a beautiful day on the UCSD event field and nicely planned festival. Then off to a real brunch!

Yelp
This is a huge campus! Wow. Never ending. Beautiful, and high ranking in education of the United States. Lots of international students, too, but hard to get into.

Yelp
i really enjoyed the TOMATO SOUP from the telemedicine building, i recommend it to anyone traveling to CALIFORNIA! I am subtracting 2 stars because my small friend kept falling off the scooters. She also fell on the stairs from library walk to sixth. I'm suspecting the ground may be a bit uneven there. i felt very sad for her

Yelp
It's actually WILD how I got a parking ticket this morning because I parked in a "B" spot since I had no where else to park before my midterm and I would have been late otherwise. It's insane that they're building more housing when they don't even have enough parking structures for for their students who currently go there! Why are we even paying for parking spots as students if there aren't even enough S spots for us to park in???? We're forced to park in staff spots and then they cite us a $65 ticket?!?! As if the tuition isn't enough, I now have to pay for this inflated parking ticket for trying to go to the class I pay for here at this overpriced institution.

Yelp
SO it is that time. Despite the COVID menace we were determined to at least drive around some of the prospective campuses for our soon to be High School Senior. Yes, its not the same as a formal tour and the summer / summer of COVID means most are virtual ghost towns, but we wanted to get a feel for the school and the surrounding areas. Stop number 2 UC San Diego (previously UC Irvine). This school gave all three of us a odd vibe. Where as Irvine had a welcoming feel, this UC campus gave us the opposite. It had a institutional gestalt that was hard to shake. Maybe it was the mass amount of construction, but all in all it was the least favorite of the UC's we would visit. The campus looks like a bike would be beneficial but there is a fair amount of hills. There also is plenty of surrounding infrastructure and a top medical center on the campus.

Yelp
I remember first taking photography in junior high.  I borrowed a camera from class and after school I took photos of cars driving by.  In high school I started taking photos of the ocean and the city.  I saved up my paper route money and bought my first film camera.  A Nikon FE-2.  At UCSD I studied photography under Phel Steinmetz and learned how to tell stories with images.  We went on outings to take photographs and learned of photographers who came before us.  One of my favorites was Robert Frank who authored The Americans in 1958.  He traveled the country on a Guggenheim grant documenting the nation in an honest and stark manner.   I re-read his book on occasion and feel inspired to go out and document my travels.  Once in awhile I'll find an old cafe or a lonely road like the ones he drove down. Robert Frank was a Swiss photographer and documentary filmmaker, who became an American binational. His most notable work, the 1958 book titled The Americans, earned Frank comparisons to a modern-day de Tocqueville for his fresh and nuanced outsider's view of American society. Wikipedia Born: November 9, 1924, Zürich, Switzerland Died: September 9, 2019

Yelp
The many days of traveling on the crowded highways and the messy side streets to get to the grocery stores there is now a great new system that has been put in it has Nine New stops along the way and the great relax from traffic . The many students that get up early every morning to get to the bus stop to get to the main transit center to get the express bus the 41 44 or the 105 150 or the 30 that will get them to the university now the trolley can get them there . The large Campus of UCSD and the many students that do have to drive or spend money for gas now they can spend less gas and go the blue line stations along the way you can catch the trolley that will take you to the University . The spread out campus has so many areas and the many bus connections that do service many trolley centers and the many shopping malls . With the Introduction of the San Diego Blue Line that is now going to the UTC Transit Center that is an elevated stations and the nine stops that are in between you can relax and sit ans study until you arrive . There was so many that had turned out for the event that was just a sea of people and the many staff and the students that had helped with the event they had did such a great job that I was very proud to see the many students that had helped . The great cooks from UCSD did provide very good food and the service was very nice and the many that were there were having a great time and the many vendors is that UCSD fabulous job . As a reviewer may I say is that when you have something this great of the trolley opening a station at the Central Campus that is a great achievement and great milestone that has been reached .

Yelp
What a beautiful campus! This campus is a true treasure. Comprised of currently five different schools of study, it is a very unique community of students. This university is filled with dedication, an interest in higher education , and amazing things to do for a student. Not only is this home to the Geisel library, but it is also home to some famous alumni such as Nick Woodman, founder of GoPro. This university is considered to be the Ivy league of public schools in Southern California. The on-campus housing is unique to every individual school within the university. One of the things that I noticed first and foremost is that students get around campus by either walking, using motorized bicycles, or even skateboarding. Yes, most of them have cars, but it's apparent that everyone takes the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful weather, and the amazing scenery that is all around them. The school offers complete tours of the entire campus with online reservations, and the tours are free and well run. I wish that I had explored this campus when I was going to college because this would've been my number one choice. While it's not necessarily immediately close to some of the amazing beaches, it certainly is a short drive away. There are a number of places on campus for kids to dine in or grab food to go, and typical college student life outside of school is but a quick car ride away. They are currently adding on a completely new wing to the school that should have a dedication ceremony and opening sometime between the end of 2019 /2020. What I truly like most about the campus is not only is it spread out so it doesn't have that claustrophobic feeling that many campuses do, but it doesn't feel like school. In many ways it pulls you in, and in its own simplistic way, makes you want to be there.

Yelp
After dealing with the emotional damage taken from UCSD, I'm ready to write a review. Attended the university as a transfer student and definitely thought, "Damn, I'm paying more money for the same old lecture halls as community college." I would like to thank the creaky, uncomfortable chairs at York for building my character. As far as the lectures go, they're kinda mid. I think the depression really hits the professors more than the students. Honestly, it would hit me too if I'm forced to teach an inconveniently scheduled lecture when I'm not tenure and need to publish 3 papers a year while writing grant submissions to fund my lab. Key skills learned from attending UC San Diego was moving past my social anxiety to ask someone if they're leaving and if I can take their parking spot. When there's limited parking, you just have to take every opportunity and that applies to K-town parking or my gym parking lot. The student body is chill. It felt like high school musical cus we were definitely all in this together...as in convincing the group to under perform so we can ride the curve. We know you're smart Nate, please aim for a B and not an A++. My mother doesn't need another Asian kid to compare me to. The campus isn't socially dead, we're just socially exhausted. Surviving college here is attending enough discussion sections so that your TA can explain a concept better than your professor while trying to befriend the top 10 students for their notes and then fighting off your ever growing mental health problem. Parties happen but it's really a choice between being completely zooted at home or on someone's couch. The campus also hosts one huge event each quarter. Believe it or not, even with the large student body and the massive student activity fee...it still can't afford big name performers. It's ok, if you wait a year or two, you can brag to the incoming class that your fave artist played Sun God YOUR freshman year. If concerts are not your thing, UC San Diego also has a strong athletic department. How strong? Enough to be classified as a D1 school...by 2024. The outreach is incredible too! After paying off my debt, the campus loves to send me postcards during the holidays. The best ones are when they have current undergraduate students text alumni their life story and ask for a donation. I love hearing about how Jessica is a 1st year comp sci major aspiring to change the world and that with my $50 donation, she can potentially afford a meal and two coffees on-campus. I love that they really try to connect with their alumni by asking us for money assuming the biology degree they gave me has really set me up for success in a career that has a starting salary of $45k in a city where housing cost is approximately $24k/year. Overall, if I had to redo it again, I would've applied to UCLA and get rejected and then commit to UCSD so I can have another thing in common with the student body. Tl;dr: UCSD prepared me well and is a great campus, with plenty of student resources including parking and housing.

Yelp
Stop building UCSD- you have already massively negatively impacted the surrounding community and homes with your current chancellor's giant push for un-thoughtful expansion in housing, buildings, and money. You are already a huge campus with massive enrollment. This area already had/has a lot of traffic and parking problems in the homes and you are (exponentially) making it more difficult. The current chancellor obviously has money as his priority, and not taking care of students first and the community that UCSD resides in. It should be a symbiotic relationship, not a parasitic relationship. Here is an example of UCSD's impact- swallowed up a single story restaurant and building this monstrosity, maxing out the square footage no doubt regardless of the impact (also see the massive skyscraper being built in background forever changing the coastal skyline- irresponsible).

Yelp
Can't lie... the food is hella mid and extremely overpriced. Got served raw chicken many instances from the dining halls. If they want to avoid imminent lawsuits, they should stop considering (incompetent) students for hire. Classes are fine with exception to mandatory course sequences such as MMW (they're awful). Try to live off campus if you want to save yourself tons of debt. Btw Pradeep Khosla is hot

Yelp
The most thing I hated about this place was parking. Usually at any other places, they would either provided a time limit for each parking spot on the street, or pay a fee per hour in the structure, but here depends on where you go, they would require a special permit to park and that is no parking at all time 24 hours 7 days a week. Period! I normally would be extra careful, but today I witnessed as myself and a lot of people falling into a trap for those thirsty bloodsuckers to milk hard earned money out of you, they were on the prowl watching us like vultures from far away, after you park and come back you will expect to see a ticket on your dash. Anyway the incident happened on Sunday as part of the Mid Coast Trolley Grand Opening Celebration at Warren Field, people were encouraged to take the trolley as it will be free all day that day, but I decided to drive my car to attend the event as it only took 20 mins for me to get here. Even I came 2 hours early because the event didn't start until 11 AM, I was driving around watching closely which parking will be opened for the public. Unfortunately no luck, so I went straight to one of the event traffic control person, she guided me to go down the hill and stated that free parking will be available over there. I followed her instruction and found a lot with the sign SANDAG MTS WELCOME PARKING, so I assumed this is the event parking, while in the lot looking for a spot, I noticed a lot of cars had their dashes with an envelopes, I thought it must be some kind of permit, maybe I was in a hurry, so I didn't suspect much, then again it is a Sunday, should there be a communication between them and the campus, that had been done by now, I parked my car, then came back later to found out I got a ticket of $65. I was very upset, not because it was my fault entirely but I was misguided, and I wasn't the only victim, I saw so many with tickets on their dashes as well. These people must have been parked here way before me, and they were still inside the event without knowing what happened to their cars thanks to all the "lovely" parking enforcement who had nothing better to do then their actual jobs. To whom ever doing this to our cars, I hope you would be so proud and enjoy your thanksgiving after ripping a bunch of people cars off, your pay check must be so big now, $65 per car, I already seen more than 8 cars included mine. Well consider I am paying this parking fee for a day at Comic Con or maybe paying myself a full tank of gas during inflation, I don't mind and wouldn't have time to appeal this crap to UCSD, I'm sure most people who received the ticket today would do the same. I'm pretty sure those people knew because that was their intentions to make naive people suffered. Next time, there probably will not be a next time, unless I got escort by an SUV here to deliver my speech, other than that I wish this would bring attention to UCSD if they read my review, and for the event organizers who did a "great job" blocking off all the main parking entrances to reserve them for the press and media, now I gotta go online and pay for the idiot who wrote me that ticket.

Yelp
Moving from UCLA to UCSD felt how I imagine it would feel to move from a mansion into a condo. I thought the quality of professors, classes, and students would be similar, but that was definitely not my experience. UCSD has a great campus in a cool area, but, as a university, it left me wanting. Even SDSU has bigger/better sports teams and a greater sense of oneness among students than what UCSD offers. The professors weren't the same caliber as UCLA's, and the students weren't as committed or impressive.

Yelp
I have volunteered for a few paid studies at the Super Computer Center. I found parking in the dirt lot near the hang glider port and walked onto the campus. Its about a 20 minute walk from the lot to the SCC. The campus is clean, well maintained, the people are polite and its in an area I would like to. either live, study or both. The studies were conducted by students doing research on human memory and how they react to sounds or visuals. They paid me there on the spot. Also, its just a pleasure to simply walk around. I also once came to another location on campus when they did a talk and viewing of the original 1982, Blade Runner.

Yelp
I'm a UCSD alum and i still have fond memories of this campus. When i return it is quite nostalgic despite the major changes that have happened! the campus is huge...so many new buildings/parking garage etc...but he natural beauty of the campus is still intact. i recently took my students on a field trip to UCSD...it was a good time. so much fun showing them the campus. I need to make time to bring my own children here to see more of the campus.

Yelp
I signed up for this "All Of Us" 10 year program. Let's help each other and future generations. A few online informational question forms, a blood draw (optional) BUT (get an Amazon $25 card if you do it). Release your electronic medical files to assist them with the study and...as needed they may contact you if they have any questions. EVERYONE was very helpful and polite. I enjoyed my visit and blood draw and encourage ALL ages (18 and over) to join. Currently they have about 100k participants.....need ONE-MILLION......Please consider it. Anything and everything we share for the well being of others is commendable. JOIN

Yelp
You like how I'm reviewing my Alma Mater? LOL I graduated many moons ago but I did come back here for a visit to the career fair recently so I just had to check-in ha ha First of all, classes are SO hard! I mean did we all depend on that curve or what?! I never went to class ha ha I didn't even buy the textbooks because why lie?? not like I was going to read it. Boys: No cute ones here, but you'll find a few with personalities. I definitely believe in the prison theory now... You like what's available. Ever since I went here... come thru Asian dudes... come thru... No regrets about coming here but damn! Why you gotta add the business major now that i leave... smdh...

Yelp
This webpage was updated today https://coronavirus.ucsd.edu/prevention-and-wellness/index.html And it still contains a misleading and frankly irresponsible statemENT "the seasonal flu remains a more significant health risk" So far the available data says the fatality rate is from 3 to 5% and the disease is more contagious. I understand that we don't have comprehensive testing results that may eventually show a lower fatality rate, but even then experts say at best it may be 1% which is still significantly worse than the seasonal flu. You arr propagating misleading and untrue information to the students, population & staff etc. at UCSD Who authorized this??? It needs to be changed!

Yelp
On an overcast Tuesday morning, my family and I took a campus tour of the school grounds because my sister is keen on applying here for college. We scheduled a campus tour at 10am, but we arrived late since we couldn't find parking. Finding a place to park here is complicated, so if you ever take a tour here or decide to visit, definitely print out a campus map before heading here, so you'll have more of an idea where parking is instead of having to track down a parking officer. So, unfortunately the parking was a hassle due to this UC campus being enormously expansive and the parking lots being so spread out that after parking, you have to take the campus shuttle all the way to the Student Services building where the Triton Tours headquarters are located. Yet, surprisingly the fee for all-day parking was $6, therefore quite a swell deal. Our campus tour guide, Selena C., was excellent in delivering a plethora of information about this university and was very engaging throughout the entire tour, even going so far as to give our group inside hints and tips that only the UCSD community would be aware of. The tour consisted of walking to each of the 6 colleges: Sixth, Eleanor Roosevelt, Earl Warren, Thurgood Marshall, John Muir, and Revelle. They all have the same general education requirements, albeit with some slight differences (English and Art requirements are tailored based off of the specific philosophy/motto of each college). Incoming freshmen are expected to pick one of the six colleges to declare their major in and any declared major is allowed in the college one chooses to be in. Overall, I liked the vibe of the campus; very laid back. However, it's a bit overwhelming (basically it's structured like an amoeba) since the campus could constitute itself as a small city. And for me, I prefer smaller campuses where everything is within a reasonable walking distance, which is why I chose to apply to and attend UCR!

Yelp
I am a proud graduate of the University of California, San Diego. As a high school student I was impressed with location in La Jolla perched above Black's Beach. It's reputation is top notch and US News & World Report ranks them #44 in it 2017 edition of Best Colleges is National Universities. The high quality education they offer was enough to persuade my family to let me move to the beach. The university offers students 6 colleges with unique graduation requirements and formats so if you are interested in attending one then do your homework before applying! I was fortunate to move into one of the on campus apartments my first year which made it easy to get to class. It is a gigantic 1,200 acre campus with walking and bike paths and plenty of distractions for impressionable youth. Some of the things that make UCSD hip include Stonehenge, a bear made entirely of boulders, a series of taking trees, a gorgeous sculpture by Niki de Saint Phalle named the "Sun God", Geisel, the most beautiful library in the world, and the student art displays throughout the underground areas in the Mandeville center. Being immersed an artistic academic wonderland made me who I am today, which is either good or bad depending on who you ask. UCSD is one of the premier academic universities and being a public university is just icing on the cake.

Yelp
Senior year, here I come! While the parking here is horrendous, but at least they are finally bringing in Starbucks! If you ever get a chance to visit our campus, make sure you hit-up Geisel Library (aka Spaceship)! Also, don't miss out on the various art collection pieces we have...it would take you a good hour or two to walk around camps and take pictures with all the pieces! Tired and need something to eat? Head back to Price Center (PC) and choose what you like for lunch! Want to try a dining hall? Head on over to any one in all the colleges! Overall, UCSD is definitely like home now. Beach is nearby, convenient bus transportation and amazing staff.

Yelp
The students who go here are RUDE AF - a bunch of stressed out mentally ill Asian kids who don't know how to socialize or be polite to people, nothing at all to what I experienced on UCSB's campus, where everyone was friendly. Definitely dont recommend for undergrads to go here. I went here for my undergrad and it was awful. Not enough space in the on campus dorms for people to live, you have to share with a roommate in a double or worse, a triple- which I had my first year. If I could go back in time, I never would have chosen this school for my undergraduate career, was too depressed and stressed out my 4 years here and greatly regret it.

Emily B.

Yelp
Absolutely money hungry. How are you going to let too many students in for "capped" degrees (such as public health) after covid, but still not add more classes to make up for how many students are now being let in? There is no reason my friend should need to stay a WHOLE entire year, just because she couldn't get into a seminar because YOU guys decided to take in too many students. She applied for her classes at the EXACT time she was scheduled to. My thoughts are: More students = more money. More students = less seating availability for classes. Less seating availability, due to overcrowding = more students having to stay an extra quarter/year/etc. More students staying = more tuition YOU guys get to keep. I'm absolutely shocked people actually support this school. The only thing that would make me think of giving this school more than one star, is due to how much research & science they have helped with.

Yelp
Listen. College is what you make of it. For UCSD I will not lie to you, it's pretty antisocial and really is UC Socially Dead. I tried the frat thing and it wasn't for me, so I had a couple solid friends my last two years that really helped me stay sane. As far as academics, this is some of the best you're gunna get. I was a physics major, and the professors they hire are so dang smart and have a great background. The problem is that the physics professors basically only care about their research, which is funded through the university. If they weren't a professor at UCSD, they wouldn't get that funding. Clear and simple. So, when these professors areteaching class, they don't care if students are understanding what they're teaching because they're primary concern is their research projects, not teaching.. understand? The physics professors are extremely knowledgeable, but most of them don't have a passion for teaching. On the flip side, I minored in business and had a completely different experience. I never had a single bad professor in the business program where I felt that the teacher didn't care about their students' success. Nothing but good things to say about the business professors. After everything's said and done, I had a very OK experience at UCSD. I almost transferred after my first year but decided not to. For the rest of my life, I'll always wonder what my college experience would have been if I switched schools.. oh well.

Yelp
First night 2012, campus police demands for ID. That's illegal in California. They can ask but not demand unless you're being detained. Guy power trips and I'm sure he's the guy in charge of the department (bald Filipino looking guy). Also likes to ask leading questions to set you up for anything he wants to fish for. Scare tactic for people unfamiliar with the law aka young people. Watch out for scare tactics from employers too once you graduate. Too many prey on the young and inexperienced. The entire campus is a corporation. Since day one of my 2012 start, there was a strong vibe of them making money off us rather than trying to produce successful students who then would be able to make donations after graduating and getting a job. The dining halls and the money you need to use makes eating healthy and well very unobtainable, so if you try, you'll burn through your dining dollars fast. Rent is high on and off campus, campus housing or private, since influx of students in the area causes a strain on housing. The classrooms are over filled and have been since day one. Illegal to sit on the stairs, bc fire safety, but that's the only available space. There are amazing people and staff here, but that's an experience you'll need to curate. They hire a lot of professors that only care about their research, and they must teach a class if they want the research spot. Some only stay for a quarter, fail the majority of the class bc they didn't know how to teach (literally relied on Teaching Assistants to teach in one case, but they're students too and have studies of their own), then leave the continent... literally. If only there were an abundance of YouTube videos to learn these topics at the time. In 2022, you can find nearly everything on YouTube to learn and they teach better. Get a diploma only for job access since employers still give slack for not having one, even if you qualify (this is mainly when a company is looking to get acquired, or get venture capital and need a healthy looking team on paper to show the men in suits). Of course, if what you want to do as a career doesn't require a degree, don't waste your money getting one. Upon graduating they will instantly spam you for donations like beggars while you're swimming in debt.

Yelp
No impressed. Their national ranking has fallen behind the like of UC Davids, Irvine and Santa Babrara. They are only #6 in the UC system barely ahead of Riverside or Mercid. Be careful if your kids live in dorms, they will nickle and dime the parents to death. Transfterring my kid out to a more reputable school next year.

Yelp
Reviewing by a current SDSU student but here's what I think about the campus. I've taken a few classes on this campus and the campus looks very beautiful. A lot of activity going on especially late at night. I visit a few friends who dorm and the dorms looks very nice with a beautiful window view. A great place to walk around with a tree and forest scene. Very wonderful and friendly staff, faculty and students. I feel like it's my 3rd home (SDSU 2nd) when I travel to La Jolla. Great food courts and the Geisel Library (wow!) a great place to study and relax for a bit.

Yelp
Why is there no reviews for UC San Diego? This makes me sad because I can't write a well detailed review about this school since I'm not a student here. I can only write a review based on the tour I took to this campus with my previous community college of attendance, Los Angeles Valley College. Not to mention that I have only seen about a fraction of the campus. :( So based on the tour, I learned that this school is very soppurtive of the arts. Walking around campus will leave you to find unique student and alumni little gems. Some of these include a bear that is made out of rocks. Another and my personal favorite is the house located on the very corner of a huge campus building. (see pic). This place also has many D.r Seuss statues all over campus, apperantly he had a lot of influnce on the campus and the campus had a lot of influence to him. The school also works in a 6 college system. Apperantly when you apply you get place on one of these colleges wchih will guide you throughout your college experince. This is a short review but sadly that is all the information I have on this school. Is a very beautiful campus, perhaps I can apply for my master's in the near future.

Yelp
One of the worst experiences I've ever had. Not only does this school waste your money on nonsense they routinely bake up false charges and try to add then to your bill. This school is run by thieves and liars and I would recommend anyone attending to carefully check the billing statements you are getting from these charlatans

Yelp
The 1,200-acre UCSD campus is located in La Jolla above the Pacific Ocean. It contains beautiful trees, urban plazas, and green lawns. The campus architecture ranges from California cottages, World War II barracks, and structures from the fifties and sixties to more recent buildings influenced by postmodern architecture. Since its establishment in 1960, UCSD has emerged as one of the leading institutions of higher education in the United States. I visited for a campus admissions tour. It's offered Monday through Saturday (holiday weekends excepted) at 10:00 a.m. with additional tours during spring break and summer months. I highly suggest getting a map of the campus from the visitor center on Gilman Drive. Just finding the parking structure to park (with directions given from the campus tour office) was challenging because of all of the construction. We used the map a lot throughout the day and ended up giving it to a couple that stopped to ask us for directions as we headed back to our car. Once we parked and walked to the student services building to check in, we we escorted to a large ballroom for a slide presentation that lasted about 30 minutes and then were broken up into smaller groups with students acting as tour guides. The 1 1/2 hour walking tour was informative and covered a lot of information and ground! Be sure to wear comfy shoes, bring water & sunscreen.

Yelp
Pros: - Campus is beautiful - Classes are somewhat interesting Cons: - Useless Counselors - Rude/Unexcepting Student Body - School shows an overall lack of regard for Student's wellbeing as a whole -Terrible Parking - Terribly expensive for a degree you can get elsewhere that actually nurtures intellect and cares for you I wish I could give this University 0 stars mainly due to the Counselors and the Students that come here. Don't expect the Academic Counselors to be helpful/caring if you're having issues in class either due to on/off-campus problems. Earlier in the year I was going through mental health issues and was struggling to keep up in class. Not knowing where to start, I went to the Academic Counselors for help. When I talked to the Academic Counselor, they showed a lack of concern and action. All they said was "sorry," and did nothing else like that is going to help me in any way. I had to find out on my own where I could find on-campus therapy and ways to pass my class; So going to the Academic Counselors was a waste of time. Financial Counselors are clueless and helpless. They never informed me that I needed a specific amount of units to receive financial aid during the summer (which is a minimum of 6 units) and I ended up having to pay $1400 for a single class. When I asked the Financial Counselor why I was never told of this (despite them knowing I was on financial aid and taking a summer course), all they said was "Sorry this happened,". I never saw my money back. Lastly is the Students who go here. They are some of the most closed-minded and intolerant people I've ever met. No one wants an intellectual dialogue unless they agree with you (so you better have a socialist/feminist view not only limited to politics but in a general view of society as a whole). Even the mental health club at UCSD judges you and makes you feel unsafe. This was the kicker to me because I thought Universities were supposed to help enlighten you. I left this school actually being somewhat intolerant of people because of how bad the students were and how I was treated for being different. Overall, UCSD has destroyed my finances and mental health. I wish I'd had gone to another UC school rather than here.

Yelp
This campus is the nicest, cleanest college that I have visited. Friendly staff at Muir College.

Yelp
I have so many dichotomous feelings about UCSD. In certain areas, I could give it a single star; on others, a 5. The campus is absolutely magnificent and truly makes up for any downfalls the university may have. The students are quiet intellectuals who you cannot bribe for notes, no matter what. It's competitive as hell. Want or need notes? Well, you better kiss someones butt because no one wants you getting a better grade than themselves. Once, I remember a girl asking me for two weeks worth of notes and I questioned her like a PI. While I'm sitting in class typing 90 WPM, trying to pick up everything the instructor is saying so that I can actually pass the course, you put in zero effort. I think not. I went to UCSD twice. Once to obtain my BA and the second to get my minor, When I went back to finish my minor in 2011, there were a lot of changes. The Rady School of Business was completed. So was the parking structure near the Social Sciences building (finally!). I feel that UCSD truly wants to be the best, and you can tell by the way they take care of the campus. Back in 2007, I had the fortunate experience of living in the dorms (Warren Apartments-Black Hall). Apparently, only graduate students can reside there now. Living on campus was one of the most amazing experiences of my life because everyday I took advantage of the opportunities and amenities. I went to watch movies in the price center. I rode my bicycle to class everyday. I took 2 hour runs around the campus; even at 11 at night. I tried the food at every college. If I wanted to study at Geisel at one in the morning during finals week, I could just walk there. I will never forget my stay on campus. If you at all have the opportunity to live in the dorms, please do so. The downfall of UCSD, however, is its liberal arts. You will learn theory; tons and tons of theory. You will learn history. You will write a lot. You will have to and want to prove yourself to students and professors, often. You will read more than you have ever read in your life (I just started leisure reading after years of putting it off because UCSD knocked the enjoyment of reading out of me). Finally, you will not make many friends because the school is competitive and frankly, you will not have much time to socialize. Moreover, you will rarely learn to implement your knowledge. I fought hard sifting through hundreds of courses trying to find one that had a more hands on approach. Even when I thought I found one that was more practical, the classes were sometimes boring and consisted mostly of theory and history on the subject matter. If you want to be intellectually stimulated and surround yourself with some extremely intelligent peers, then this is a great school for you. However, be very careful when selecting the courses you take. READ THE CAPE AND GO BY IT. The cape has rarely done me wrong. Make sure you are willing to put in the effort. UCSD is not necessarily hard, but you do have to be extremely dedicated to your education. In terms of the people, I find that if you are not a science major, you will see plenty of attractive young guys and girls. They may not be stereotypically good looking but who wants ordinary? Trust me, people who have personality and intelligence will keep your interest much longer than those who are good looking but shallow. There you go. This is my summation for UCSD being a Sociology major with an emphasis in science and medicine. The hard sciences, I know to be much, much worse. Trust me when I say, I feel bad for the kids who have to endure years of tough classes and competition. Especially since in the hard sciences, professors often grade on a curve. There is so much more to write but I don't have time; I will have to save my additions for another day.

Yelp
What a cred, what a cred! Seventh oldest of the ten UC campuses, UCSD occupies 2,141 acres total with 1,152 allocated to the main campus. Predominantly a public research university, UCSD is also home to six undergraduate colleges, ranked 8th among public universities, 37th in the US and 18th in the top worldwide institutions of higher learning.* And all that academia within equally first class architecture, design and landscaping; take a virtual tour and see what I mean http://admissions.ucsd.edu/tours/virtual-tour.html Perfect venue for my recent continuing education course also pretty perfect to feel like a co-ed again! * http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/University_of_California,_San_Diego

Yelp
Last year here! Wish I went to the beach more. This school is lacking in the equality of the dining halls. Revelle got a new dining hall PLUS a restaurant. Pines has a huge variety of foods for breakfast lunch and dinner. Marshall is in the process of a new dining hall plus they have goody's burritos. ERC has a dining hall with variety for breakfast lunch and dinner as well PLUS a restaurant. Then there's sixth....... Sixth has a small dining hall that only serves sandwiches, salads, and pizza everyday. We finally got a Starbucks on campus but you can't even use your rewards there like annual free birthday drink. However this school has provided many opportunities for me to volunteer. Many hospitals surrounding the school, so that's a great way to get involved. Many clubs and organizations. I wish there was more diversity. UCSD is unique with its 6 colleges. It creates little communities. UCSD is its own community as a whole and I wish I went out more to explore the actual city of San Diego. They're planning to build a new college (seventh college) so that means less parking for students Public transportation is pretty good. Parking sucks and it's always impacted. Have to come super early to campus to get a good spot. Overall I've learned a lot here and have a decent amount of good memories Update: it's 10pm and they are doing construction on Gilman drive, right behind the sixth college apartments. It's crazy loud. Why couldn't this have been done over the summer? The noise is very disturbing. UCSD seems to always have at least one construction project going on

Yelp
If your kids are smart enough to get in, this is one of the best places in the UC systems to attend. From the beginning of visiting all the colleges nationwide that my daughter has been accepted, UCSD is by far one of the nicest campus to attend for the academia to the environment. As a father I wish I would have checked out this campus when I was looking (many years ago..lol) but definitely a go to college. If nothing else it's a great place to get a degree while getting a tan.

Yelp
Campus has a very anti-social environment that is cultivated by the Administration and the layout of campus. Students are segregated into different colleges. I find events are poorly promoted as well as the resources the school offers, such as counseling, study abroad, career center, exchange programs with other schools, etc. I got nearly all information by asking other students and not from the administration. The Price Center (at the time it was around) was symbolic of the anti-social environment. The way, or the main way at least, to get into Price Center was you had to go down these stairs. On the opposite side a very narrow entryway. It was cleverly designed to ward off protesters or masses from congregating at this location in the center of the school. You will run into most of your friends at the library because there's very little else to do on campus. Students here or at least freshmen like to run off to TJ but that gets old fast. Don't event think about throwing a party in your dorm room; you will get shut down. Even when you think it's Spring Break and no one's around. UCSD SHOULD BE ASHAMED FOR TAKING STUDENTS TO COURT!!!!! ZERO STARS FOR THE ADMINISTRATION. I have called the school to inquire about Che Cafe and the lady I spoke to had no clue what Che Cafe was; that is truly a disconnect for an employee of UCSD to not even know what is on the campus. She also gave me her email so she could 'pass along my questions' and I have never gotten a reply to any of my emails. I have also emailed the chancellor's office and there has been no followup. The current chancellor and administration are absolutely terrible and do not care about students' well-being on campus. It's all about how much money they can collect, how much funding they can obtain, how much they can get for themselves without passing that along to students. Chancellor Khosla's yearly compensation if you search online is a half million per year. It is unfortunate and shameful for UCSD to try to shut down a 35 year student run co-op Che Cafe. It's sad that UCSD is able to spend all this money on renovations but will not pitch in to renovate old buildings that houses co-ops. Shows how little the school cares about students and their communities. Why wasn't Che Cafe offered a new space by UCSD? Perhaps UCSD wants the location for themselves or new tenant$$$ to take the spot. For sure this school wants your money. When you graduate you can be certain that UCSD Alumni will be on your ass to DONATE DONATE DONATE. It's a bad move to harass those who are looking for jobs immediately after graduating. I do think the Visual Arts and Theatre programs are bomb and have a great creative energy. Even if you aren't a major, I urge you to take some arts/theater classes and take advantage of the free student run shows. The Vis Arts/Theater Department gets 5 stars. This department is the only thing good about this school. If you choose to go to this school I just want you to know what you're up against. It will seem like people don't care or don't want to help you, but you will learn, I hope... to be self sufficient, to fight for what you want and to be vocal about the things you care about. Never give up.

Yelp
It not UDUB but this school is absolutely exceptional. Great undergraduate programs and a very diverse campus, wouldnt want to spend the next four year anywhere else.

Yelp
Facilities are mostly up-to-date with a few exceptions. The school has a nice and large library. There are a variety of programs and majors to choose from. Price Center and dining halls offer many different types of food. Only problem is that parking sucks! Students pay $600 for a parking pass and aren't even guaranteed a spot. Multiple times I come to school 45 minutes to an hour before class and still cannot find parking. Took off 2 stars for this because parking is a hassle and this should not be a concern for students.

Yelp
UCSD is a great school on a fantastic campus. Lots of green areas and not too over run with buildings. Many years ago, the Central Library was out in the boonies and lost in the trees... it used to be you could not see the Central LIbrary because of all the trees would block any view... but now and the trees have been chopped down and there is so much building going on that the Central Library is lost among those buildings. The weather is wonderful being in a coastal city. Not too cold and not too hot.

Yelp
Like everyone said, best school ever. No denying it. Fun fact: rated as the 14th best college in the world! I graduated here just this past summer and I already miss it. When I was deciding where to go to school, ucsd was the first school I toured and the second I got here, even though it was cloudy and cold (typical La Jolla weather), I loved the campus, environment, culture, and how much it felt like home. So my first year I lived at the village on the 9th floor with an ocean view, so OBVIOUSLY, I loved it. Anyway, the campus is huge, but luckily for students, there's 4 shuttles going around within the campus going both clockwise and counter to take students from place to place. And there are plenty more shuttles that will take students to a lot more places like supermarkets, movie theaters, and even downtown sd! But having a car while going to school here is pretty crucial, how else are you gonna explore what SD has to offer?! Parking here can sometimes be painful, but it's a UC, what do you expect? There are lots almost all over the campus since there are 6 colleges total. And it's free on weekends and I don't see any other UC doing that! But I'm not sure if it will stay free :/ Weather here is pretty even across all seasons, 70s majority of the time with some cold nights. It's cali, so expect it! The best advice I could give any prospective student that might come here is to have an open mind and be actively seeking out great opportunities to make great memories here, college goes by way too fast. Oh, also get good grades :P Go Tritons!

Yelp
This school cares more about money then their students education. Went to this school and graduated with my masters. My last quarter I paid a full quarters tuition and registration fees. I dropped a single class and now they want me to pay a 188$ "filing fee" in order to graduate, even though this should have been covered by the massive quarter registration fees. So now essentially they want me to pay 200$ without providing a service even though I paid a full quarters tuition and fees. They also won't let me graduate until I pay this fee, even though I have all of my graduation requirements fulfilled. WARNING: Don't go to this school unless you want to pay excessive fees and go to a school that cares more about money than students well being.

Yelp
When I think of UCSD/San Diego a few things come to mind. Amazin' Mexican Food, Phil's BBQ, Theodore Geisel A.K.A. Dr. Seuss motherfucka!!!! And of course the Chinese three-some video makin' nice guys known as Wong Fu Productions. Let's be honest. People who go to UCSD are the ones who didn't get into UCLA or CAL. People who go to Riverside are the ones who didn't get into Irvine or SD? make sense? Hope it does. Though, that isn't to knock the students here. Gettin' into college is so competitive these days! There is definitely some smart and talented kids who go here to UCSD who could have gone to CAL or UCLA but just had some bad luck. Location: San Deezy. You know.. That place that is really close to Mexico! The home of the Padres, Blink 182, good Carne Asada, The Real World SD, Campus: It's nice. Students: I always feel like there is a very wholesome feel to the students here at UCSD. I don't know. Maybe it's cause I'm used to seein' SC, Irvine, Riverside, and all the other So cal UC's ever so often. Though, the guys are super dorky and the girls are like you're Joey Potter girl next door look which I'm a fan of. Athletics: UCSD FOOTBALL TEAM UNDEFEATED! Nuff' Said Notable Alumni: Wong Fu Productions: If you're not familiar with them it's probably because you're not Asian, between the ages of 10-28, frequent Youtube, and have a life. Good bunch of fellas who really set the standard for making super emo, heartfelt, videos about relationships, Asian stereotypes, and parodying music videos. *Yellow Fever* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vC_ycDO66bw

Yelp
Its really hard to rate a unversity on a yelp review. So many things encompasses a university education that a yelp review is not really legit at all... I went here for 4 years and they were amazing. Even after going to graduate school, UCSD still feels like my real alma mater and "home". I miss it and when I visited last week, I felt nostalgic with all the memories that came back from it. Its a part of my past that I can't go back to but always remember! Go Tritons!
