People Are Weirdly Captivated By University of Houston’s Food Delivery Robots | Eater Houston

"Recently launched a robot-based food delivery service that deploys a fleet of short, rectangular Starship robots to cart snacks and groceries across campus. A TikTok post by Blake Messick—soundtracked with the X-Files theme—showed the robots roaming widely and went viral (about 947,000 views on TikTok and another roughly 500,000 on Twitter), and other clips compared the machines to the Disney character Wall-E. At least 30 robots, developed in partnership with Chartwells Higher Education, began operating last week to deliver groceries and late-night eats from vendors such as Panda Express, Cougar Village Market, and Starbucks. A Change.org petition (nearly 100 signatories) has also circulated proposing the addition of vintage wire Cadillac “swangas” with pointy “elbows” to the robots as a tongue-in-cheek way to fold them into Houston car culture." - Amy McCarthy

Robots Will Roam the University of Houston Campus Delivering Snacks | Eater Houston

"A fleet of 30 Starship autonomous delivery robots will roam the campus delivering snacks and groceries to students, faculty, and staff; UH’s 53,000 students can hit a button on a phone app and a robot will greet them carrying Panda Express. The program, run in partnership with Chartwells Higher Education, makes UH the first institution of higher education in Texas to offer robotic food deliveries on campus, and is billed as expanding hours and convenience without costing the university anything to purchase the technology because customers pay for the service. There is a $1.99 delivery fee and customers can track the robots’ journey as they traverse sidewalks and maneuver around obstacles." - Adele Chapin

I will comment as a tourist. It is a beautiful compass. The compass seems to spread over various streets and the walk through not only reflects the wonder of the building style of Houston but the exciting discovery of what's round the next corner. It was a pleasure to see I only give it four stars because I didn't walk all of it but when in Houston definitely stop by and see

Stopped by the University of Houston with the See You At The Top Fleet, and it’s clear why this campus is a pillar of our community. UH is home to one of the nation’s leading business and law programs and has produced leaders across every industry. The energy here matches the spirit of Houston, hardworking, evolving, and future-focused. That alignment is exactly what we stand for at See You At The Top: rooted in the city while reaching for new heights. SEE YOU AT THE TOP 🚀

5 stars for the seating. UH's new (TDECU) stadium is steeper and has a much better view for the money than older venues. I wish I could watch every game from such a good vantage point. ZERO stars for the traffic to get there. No way to fix that. Add at least an extra hour to your estimate. ZERO stars for level 4 garage parking, which adds another hour to your estimate. I understood and expected a long walk to the field, but leaving the game was the worst part. Early in the 4th quarter the locals began leaving, almost in a rush. At least half the crowd was gone by the end of the game, which should have meant an easier exit for everyone. It took at least 45 minutes before the 4th floor traffic even started moving. The first two levels are probably much better. If I was doing it again, I would get there 3 hours early in order to get a lower parking space. Then just plan on eating at the on campus BBQ restaurant, which has great reviews. You have to walk right by it anyway on your way to and from the garage. Otherwise, I would just stay home.

This university has come a long way. Really big changes since I was there. The campus has cleaned up quite a bit. The basketball team is great. The football team is doing really well this year. The Morris school of music is amazing.

The basketball game was a great time. They really do a tremendous job with the fan experience. The parking is where I got mad. We paid $40.00 to park for the men's game, but walked out to the sign reading just $10.00 for the women's game. You can do better than that UofH!!

The university campus is quite lovely, although the roads present a challenge. There is considerable construction and traffic congestion. It would be wonderful if the university could offer shuttle services and direct fares, especially for the many students residing in the southwest area.

I am not impressed with UH at all. For 3 art related classes, we are nearly $750 in cost of supplies. The professors are poorly verse and do not write the syllabi well and ambiguous. Being a graduate from other universities and we thought UH was the best choice the our student’s degree; we have already been let down by the poor grammar and vagueness of instruction by multiple professors. Then we found out the students are forced to use mainstream products like Adobe (in the b2b world are known to steal from you). There are no other viable options for students and the affordability of UH is ridiculously expensive as they nickel and dime for everything. Then it is poorly run and the dining is not healthy and poorly prepared. The campus living is very cold and does not encourage community interaction. We’ve had a recent opposite experience from another child’s experience at a different university. Looking to pull our student from this university.

They did not put up enough chairs for all the kids to sit in when they were graduating from college from the engineering classes. My son had to sit on plastic steps while other people walked within 5 inches of his face. This is disgusting and an embarrassment for university
