"If two Greenpoint coffee shops with art studios weren’t enough (see last week, below), good news: we’ve got a third. Und is a Japanese spot with coffee, tea, matcha, onigiri, and sandwiches, and an art space." - will hartman

This is a really nice university. My son transferred here after Central Washington University canceled their aviation program. He’s been very happy and enjoys school very much. They have a great flight program and a great university. The dorms are good the chow hall is great and the people are very friendly. I highly recommend the University of North Dakota

Stay as far away as possible. I was lured in as a transfer student and the continuous policy changes have made a massive mess of my academics and life. UND feels like a terrible circus show where once you are in, there is no escape without incurring more time, effort and money wasted somewhere else to fulfill arbitrary requirements. You will not thrive here. Once you become a student, you cease to exist as a human and become a monetary figure manipulated by the accounting department. The accounting department’s job is to make you as a monetary figure as large as possible so that UND’s internal politicians and specific “alumni” get their bonuses and payouts. There is no experience to be gained at UND. UND’s pool of instructors is a dirty bucket of washed out "professionals" whose only priority is to use the same wash, rinse and repeat process to drag children into unthinkable debt for years. UND has been an absolute waste of my life, and I feel that everyone who enables higher education to perform as UND does should be ashamed of themselves.

Highly recommend not wasting your time with this online school. You can’t get a hold of anyone and called for almost 6 weeks to figure out why my transcripts weren’t being processed then someone called me back the day classes started to tell me they still have no idea why, but just to register for classes. I don’t know how they get away with being considered a valid university. Very unimpressed.

Racist professors. I remember having a mechanical engineering class where, every time the professor asked a question, if the students raising their hands didn't appear white, he would say, "Okay, nobody knows!" I have also seen emails between faculty members that listed students' countries of origin in the first line, as if they were exchanging a heads-up.

My freshman year I went to switch majors to biology from history after my childhood friend killed himself at the U of M and I was finding personal and peer accolades in that new subject. My advisor was out of the country (I found out due to a sign taped to their door) and strangely the head of the liberal arts dept refused my decision. I do well now but can't recommend this university to anyone that cares about their abilities or lives. Donald Poochigian(director of Philosophy Dept) was the only good thing about this place, may him and his family be blessed with peace.

Lots of nicely remodeled and new buildings on campus. Library, education, fitness center, soon to be business buildings really nice and new. Health sciences and aviation seem to be the focus. Campus is pretty spread out and Grand Forks is a fairly small city.

Yelp
Bridge to higher education. My brother went here decades ago, he loved it. Was nice to walk the campus my brother spent a could have head of using college years at, far away from us. Pretty decent sized walkable campus. Visited the museum of art, bookstore, hockey arena.

Yelp
One of the most depressing times of my life was spent at a semester here. The university as a whole didn't even bother to know who I was. My "academic advisor" didn't remember who I was each time I emailed her. I'm surprised I even finished out the semester. Ruined my first semester of college. Don't go here unless your from grand forks and don't ever plan on leaving.

Yelp
Not going to give it one star because I don't know how the academics are, because I wasn't accepted into this school. But here's why I wasn't accepted: I applied for a distance Master of Social Work program. When the time came to hear whether I got admitted and I heard nothing - not a yes OR a no - I called the school. The first person told me that part of my application was never transferred to the Social Work department from the graduate school. They said they'd look into it and call me back. A week went by and they never called back. I called again and they told me the same thing and that maybe they could get the app to the appropriate place, see (if I get accepted after a review) if there was space in the program for me and that they'd get in touch with me. They never did. Finally, after hearing nothing and nearing the starting date of the program, I wrote a letter to the graduate department (the department I was told never properly forwarded my information.) I asked for a return of my application fee, since it seemed this was an error on their part, not mine. I got a very nasty letter back about 3 hours later from a guy in the graduate department. He said he would not return any fee and OH! Guess WHAT?! They just got word from the social work department that my application was rejected. I wasn't good enough for the program and, by sheer coincidence, they made that decision on the day I complained. Which I would accept as truth if, well, I hadn't been accepted into the University of Southern California's social work program, or into the University of Denver's program. Two pretty kick-ass schools with exceptional programs. (USC's is ranked 10th in the country.) I hope this doesn't come off as someone just being bitter. I'm in a better position now, in an excellent school program, and I am very thankful this happened to me, actually. I just want to let people know my experience, and make a point to UND that they can't do things like this to people without the internet knowing all about it. Terrible service that deserves a bad review, in my opinion. And I still want my damn app fee back.

Yelp
I'm annoyed I have to even give a star. Does the University of North Dakota have nothing better to do than give out parking tickets? Seriously when there is next to no one left on campus they are going to spend their time going around to hand out $40 tickets to the cars that are left. When I can't work my second job because it's not one I can work from home, I have to pay an extra $40.

Yelp
Green and white colors Education oasis But windy and cold (Thank god for UND. Without it, Grand Forks would be in a world of hurt. Good, quality education at an affordable price. We salute you, UND! If only the wind didn't freeze us to the core while walking on campus...)

Yelp
The collegial atmosphere and weather ensure a close community. There's not much body heat to go around.

Yelp
I was very very disappointed with the University of North Dakota. Their staff in admissions is supremely unhelpful. I applied for the spring 2016 semester as a transfer student with a 3.8 GPA. I was VERY clear about when I wanted to start school and I was given the impression that I should easily get in. They directed me to fill out an application, which of course came with a fee. Next, they had me send all my transcripts by overnight mail which cost more money. Then once they got it all, they told me it had been too late in the first place for me to get in for the spring semester. Excuse my language but, WHY THE HELL DID THEY NOT SAY THAT?!!! Besides the needless financial expenditure, it was a huge waste of time and it may be too late to start admissions at another college. Based on what another Yelp reviewer said below, seems like they have a pattern of collecting fees from people in a shady manner. Update: Thankfully, I was able to get admitted into Webster University without all the muss and fuss. I have since graduated Magna Cum Laude. Your loss, UND.

Yelp
Nice well maintained campus. Some of the building could probably use a little updating on the inside, but the outsides are all lovely. I transferred her from another University & this is the 4 University I have attended for my 3 degree. So, I've been around the block a few times as far as that goes. I do really enjoy my professors here & I think they do a good job teaching. The reason I knocked off a start is because the admission process was kind of ridiculous and you have like 8 different portals you have to access to function at UND (as a student or faculty) so, that is kind of annoying. The admission process might not be as much of a headache for undergrads, but for graduates be prepared it might be a bumpy ride -- especially if you're applying from out of states. I have found a lot of times its just easier to show up and have someone take care of your problem, versus getting it fixed over the phone or email. Every at the University has been very helpful and nice. I will be proud to say I went to school here when I graduate.

Yelp
My personal experience with this university is as follows. The staff were rude and unhelpful. The university's website has several glitches and the application instructions were not as clear as they should have been. Important information was left out and I learned a lot of what I needed to know by asking questions. Also, I never received a call from this university. The university should have someone call and ask if there were any questions or concerns. This would show that the university cares about the questions and concerns of those who applied. Based on all of this, I do not think the university cared if I attended or not.

Yelp
Nice campus with lots of green. Good facilities and amenities.
