"A pleasantly light and modern restaurant where you can eat either at authentic teppanyaki grill tables or more conventionally. You will also find the Unkai sushi bar on the ground floor serving a sushi brunch on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays." - Michelin Inspector

Spectacular place, best Japanese food in town. Actual Japanese rice (though no koshihikari it seems), great presentation, excellent service. Only complain: too much salmon - seems European people prefer salmon over any other fish. After 15 years in Japan I would prefer different fish selection.

I would like to highlight 2 things: (1) the services was excellent, the hostess (Saturday 11 October PM) was the best! (2) the Tepanyaki was a great experience, the food was delicious and the chef was a luxury.

Excellent food, wide-ranging of options for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian guests. Warm and attentive staff and a quiet cozy ambiance.

Dinner | 1 person | 67€ tldr: good food, high prices ___________________________________________ I ordered some Oolong tea, the 12 mixed Nigiri (substituting the Tuna with Ama Ebi due to preference) as well as 1 Scallop and 1 Eel Nigiri each. Additionally I got served a bit of pickled/marinated mackerel as a free starter. ___________________________________________ Pros: The mixed set, which goes for 42€, had a nice bit of variety. Fish seemed high quality, fresh, and tasted great. Ratio of fish to rice seemed just right. Rice perfectly seasoned. The single sushi are quite expensive but were, alongside the Ama Ebi, the stars of the night. Both scallop and eel (7€ and 10€ respectively) were exceptional. The service staff was friendly and polite as well as knowledgeable about the dishes they served. ___________________________________________ Cons: Sadly the salmon roe Nigiri was kind of a let down as it did not at all feel balanced in flavour (not enough rice) and had several hard pieces of rice in it. The octopus Nigiri, while great in taste, was rather chewy and hard to eat. Portions were more on the small side which was to be expected. Ginger and wasabi seemed standard (not sure if real wasabi or cheap paste which would be a shame with prices like these). Waiting time to be noticed when wanting to pay were a bit long but this could have been due to the table I was seated at being not that easily visible. ___________________________________________ Overall I had a pleasant experience (if you ignore the few hard pieces of rice and the chewy octopus) and was very happy with the food. I did have a coupon (which made dinner a lot more affordable), however it was not considered in this review. Would I go again? I don't know. As amazing as the food might have been, 67€ (without tip) is still quite a lot of money. The little slip ups might not seem too problematic but in this price range and when talking about a Michelin Star restaurant it shouldn't happen. Maybe revisiting for special occasions and probably with another coupon but definitely not on a daily basis (at least for now). ___________________________________________ S Tier: Scallop, Eel A Tier: Ama Ebi, Yellow Tail B Tier: Squid, Salmon, Sea Bream, Sea Bass C Tier: Ebi D Tier: Mackerel, Oktopus E Tier: Salmon Roe

The first time we went there, we were turned away even though the place was empty. The second time, we made a reservation in advance. As for the food and pricing, they don’t match. The dishes are quite expensive considering the small portions. The rice was mushy — you couldn’t even see the individual grains. The flavor combinations didn’t work well together and left a poor impression. On the positive side, the service was excellent — the staff were very friendly. The table presentation was also nicely done. The atmosphere was okay. For me, the food is the most important part of the experience, and unfortunately, it fell short. That’s why my main critique is about the food.

This Hotel has the best Japaneese Cuisine Restaurant in town. Very elegant syle, clean and amazing staff. You will not know what you have missed if you don’t visit this place. Restaurant is on the 7th floor of the Grand Hotel in Vienna. Booking in advanced is recommended.

Went here for AfterWorx all-you-can-eat sushi. The fish is high quality and there are plenty of choices. The sushi chef prepared the sushi fresh (12 choices) and 6 choices maki are available on a plate. All delicious and worth its price considering the quality and freshness.

I wish I had read reviews before going. The service was great. The food was at the very best average . Absolutely nothing made it stand out vs. a Japanese fast food except the price. For instance the salmon appetizer was way overcooked, sashimis had fish bones, cheap industrial croquettes were served with random sauces on them etc. The atmosphere is really poor. It also looks like an average fast food. No efforts made whatsoever e.g. single use wooden chop sticks. For this location at this price I find it unacceptable, yet I am the only one to blame. My girlfriend lived in Japan and then took me to another place in the city, where we ate for 5x less and both the food and atmosphere were outstanding.
