We recently went back to the UNO's in Portland after not going there for many years, and we enjoyed it, so while we were in Bangor for an appointment we decided to try that branch of the chain. It did not let us down. Our server was great. I ordered a raspberry tea for a change of pace and she brought an extra glass of ice because she knew the ice sometimes melted quickly in tea. It actually didn't melt as fast as she feared, but I still appreciated her proactive move. As a side note, as with soda, you get a free refill on the iced tea.
UNO's has a fairly varied menu, but I must confess I always had their signature deep dish pizza back in the past when we went there semi-regularly, and for my two return visits recently, I have ordered the same. If we go often enough I expect to venture elsewhere in the menu.
We were there for lunch this time, so we opted for the lunch pizza special. You get the same personal deep dish pizza as with dinner, but it includes a salad or soup and is a much lower price. We had slightly different pizzas, but we both ordered the pumpkin bisque soup to lead off. It was wonderful. The pizza of course was as good as always, and we brought home half of each for a second meal (breakfast of champions!?)..
The only downside of the trip was a management thing: they had a special where you receive a $10 gift card with a purchase of a $50 card, but they wouldn't let us do it with two $25 dollar gift cards. Not sure what the difference is, but we settled for one, so the second person on our list won't receive our encouragement to give UNO's a try. We will send them somewhere else, I guess. There are certainly no shortage of good restaurants in the area.
