New England Restaurants Offering Government Shutdown Meal Deals | Eater Boston

"I saw that furloughed federal workers can get any individual deep dish or Chicago thin crust pizza free during weekday lunch (until 3 p.m.) at Uno locations in the region (dine-in only; one per customer with valid federal government ID; no minimum purchase; not combinable with other discounts)." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

Google
We had a great experience today mainly because the pizzas were half off because it was Monday. I was told this is the Chicago style deep dish and that’s not the case. I mean it is served in a deep dish but it’s not thick crust salt encourage anyone to order anything else on the menu. The service was very friendly and the beer was cold. The place was clean and the parking lot was easy to get in and out of so we may go here again.

Google
Good food and service, bride had the fish and chips and said it was tasty, I had the Italian sausage sandwich which was also good. Will be back again to try some of the other offerings this summer. Oh , the beer was cold..

Overall, I had a pretty decent experience when I visited here for the first time a few days ago. The only things that could be improved are the service and the price. Hooooly are they expensive for how much food you get. I will say though that the food tasted way better than it looked. If it were a few dollars cheaper, I'd get that carrot cake again for sure 👌 The rattlesnake pasta had a mild level of venom, but nothing that put me in a coma. Could use a little more heat 🔥 Maybe twice or three times. I like it when I'm blowing fire from both directions. Please make me cry! 👍😂

Google
(All my reviews are overall) Staff was friendly but slow. I understand it's the cooking but only had a few people in the restaurant and it took about 30min for a salad, burger and chicken club. I got the berry and goat cheese and asked for no cheese and the dressing on the side. I received my salad, by what looked like the manager, and when I advised I didn't want goat cheese, she looked at me with the face of "and what do you want me to do about it." After taking it back, the dressing was on the salad. Not only was it on the salad but it was drenched in it. I was already behind schedule and just needed to eat but the bottom of the salad was not good at all. My company who ordered a burger didn't want pickles and there were 3 big pickles. The fries were really good, the waitress was really nice but hard to get a hold of and the manager had a bit of an attitude. All in all, probably not going back but my other companies food was good.

Last time we ate here, the food was to die for. Today, sadly, that was not the case. Ordered the Triple B Burger, and as I always do, I get it medium rare. When the Burger came out, it looked good, but I took one bite out of it it was cold and still raw. Now our waitress took it off the bill, so there is no complaint there. My son ordered a pizza and it was so greasy, but he can tolerate that. Overall, a very poor food experience today. And I understand people have bad days. Our waitress did a great job (thanks Lynsie) but sadly, it will be while before I can eat there again.

Google
amazing drinks, great staff. you HAVE to try the nachos!! the turkey avocado BLT is on a personal focaccia, it was amazing! second time here & i’ll be eating here every time im in bangor:)

Google
Fresh food, good flavor and service was good even when busy. The Chicken R&B pizza we ordered as a deep dish and although I prefer a thinner crust, it was full of flavor. It was nice they put the ice cream on the side of the dessert cookie for allergies. Very authentic, good atmosphere pizzeria! Recommend the cheesy garlic bread!

Chris R.

Google
They are in desperate need of staff. Pizza is usually good, but tonight's was just a mess on dough. 1 pizza was supposed to be extra cheese, and neither pizza had hardly any yet both pizzas had large plops of ricotta on them. Tasted good just very messy.

Yelp
Ordered dinner for my family in Bangor. I'm in California. They loved the food and wanted to thank Cindy for being so nice on the phone.

Francis C.

Yelp
Food was awful. waiter wouldn't help. asked to talk to the manager, wouldn't give her name, brown haired. She was nasty. She gave us the run around, Would not refund our money, told us if we didn't like it, we could leave. So we did. Rat traps around the side of the building. Don't go back.

Yelp
I recently found out about the uno chain and was so excited to finally try it! As a deep dish pizza lover, this place did not disappoint! I ordered the veggie deep dish pizza and I was able to substitute some of the toppings that I wanted to replace. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. Since we only wanted to eat light that day, we just shared one small pizza, but I am excited to go back to one of their locations near my home now to try their other dishes. Their deep dish pizza tasted just like the Chicago deep dish with its pie like crust! The only different is that this pizza does have the toppings more on the top rather than inside the pizza like a pie. Either way, it was delicious and I can't wait to get it another time! This place has a very chill pizza bar type of atmosphere but it is very family friendly.

Yelp
It's a pizza joint, and they do deep dish Chicago style pizza well. Two of us ordered the lunch special of personal pizza and salad. Next time we would share a pie and order another side salad as the pie is very filling. Service was good! Our waitress was prompt and attentive.

Yelp
Uno is good, only been twice and the food was pretty good. I wouldn't say it was great yet, but still worth a stop and good enough to make me go back and try more.

Yelp
We recently went back to the UNO's in Portland after not going there for many years, and we enjoyed it, so while we were in Bangor for an appointment we decided to try that branch of the chain. It did not let us down. Our server was great. I ordered a raspberry tea for a change of pace and she brought an extra glass of ice because she knew the ice sometimes melted quickly in tea. It actually didn't melt as fast as she feared, but I still appreciated her proactive move. As a side note, as with soda, you get a free refill on the iced tea. UNO's has a fairly varied menu, but I must confess I always had their signature deep dish pizza back in the past when we went there semi-regularly, and for my two return visits recently, I have ordered the same. If we go often enough I expect to venture elsewhere in the menu. We were there for lunch this time, so we opted for the lunch pizza special. You get the same personal deep dish pizza as with dinner, but it includes a salad or soup and is a much lower price. We had slightly different pizzas, but we both ordered the pumpkin bisque soup to lead off. It was wonderful. The pizza of course was as good as always, and we brought home half of each for a second meal (breakfast of champions!?).. The only downside of the trip was a management thing: they had a special where you receive a $10 gift card with a purchase of a $50 card, but they wouldn't let us do it with two $25 dollar gift cards. Not sure what the difference is, but we settled for one, so the second person on our list won't receive our encouragement to give UNO's a try. We will send them somewhere else, I guess. There are certainly no shortage of good restaurants in the area.

Yelp
Welcomed upon entering. Not very busy at 12:30 in the afternoon. Very kind server. Polite and attentive. Good music playing in the background. Clean establishment. Food was good. Had a kids pepperoni pizza and French onion soup. Soup seemed to have croutons in it. A bit tough. It was hot and tasty otherwise. Apparently the pizza was kid friendly. It was all eaten.
google avatar

Wesley M.

Yelp
Mozzarella sticks and marinara were 10/10. Cheesy pesto breadsticks and marinara were 9/10. These were amazing. Service was quick and good! Nice restaurant. Now- The supreme deep dish (numero uno) was 5/10. Not enough sauce or cheese like real style Chicago deep dish necessitates. Just an overpriced regular supreme pizza lacking sauce....

Cathy K.

Yelp
Another satisfying trip into UNO, service was great, server was friendly and attentive, food was great, have never had a bad meal here. Tried the motor city deep dish pizza and was done to perfection. Will definitely be back.
google avatar

Ralph M.

Yelp
Worst pizza and price was crazy. Look at the pics, it said Chicago deep dish laughable, I would of rather of had a store bought dollar pizza from the frozen section. Cheese sticks were better than the pizza. Just a follow up nobody ever contacted me like they said they would. Look again how flat their pizza is. We got one Chicago deep dish and breadsticks for 60.00 delivered. That's 12 hot and ready from little Caesars I should of done that and just stacked them and made a deep dish. Same price. Look at my pics order any place else. Read my other reviews, I am more than fair.
google avatar

Pam S.

Yelp
Food was good, but service was lacking. The waitresses was very slow to greet us and for us to pay the bill.

Aaron B.

Yelp
Inaccurate hours. Says they are open but only taking next day orders. Don't really plan needing delivery a full day in advance.

Jaiden M.

Yelp
The food sucked steak was not well done fries were soggy when u picked them up they fell apart broccoli was cold and had no taste and the waitress sucked didn't get silver where till 20 minutes after we ordered food, took 20 minutes waiting for a box

Yelp
I came here excited to try their personal pizzas and was extremely disappointed with them. I got a thin crust with pepperoni and it tasted like a frozen pizza from the grocery store. I was expecting the pizzas to be great since that's what their known for. The waitress was very nice and I was surprised to see it so slow during lunch time, I think we were the only ones in there.
google avatar

Julia H.

Yelp
Save yourself--this pizza is awful. Truly. Awful. Tasteless, soggy crust, tasteless sauce & cardboard cheese. I'd literally rather have a frozen Tony's pizza.

Yelp
Only giving 1 star for this review because the prices were low. But that is it. My Husband and I wanted to try out a new pizza place, haven't been to UNOs in years and thought to give it another try. We went to pick up the pizzas (pepperoni deep dish and thin crust margarita). We had to wait 30 minutes, which is pretty normal. But then we were very confused where to park to pick it up because we had already chosen to pick it up not for curbside delivery. My Husband ended up having to walk inside after waiting in a spot for 10 minutes, the sign with the number on it was stolen or something, there was pretty much only 1 place to park for curbside, which was taken. Anyway, my Husband had to ask for our food which shouldn't have even happened. But now for the worst part. We both ate about half of our tiny pizzas, they also didn't say the sizes online when we ordered so we got much smaller pizzas then expected. We both ended up throwing up later that night. Knowing damn well it was that food. Never coming back here ever again! Just wanted to share my experience before anyone else wastes their money here.

Yelp
To the Management at Uno's by the Bangor Mall: PLEASE inform ALL of your servers that asking ANY Customer "Do you want your change?" is very poor manners and irritates us incredibly. I gave my sever a $100 Bill for a $46.00 bill and when she asked me " Do you want any change back" I nearly choked on my water. I told her that was very offensive & disrespectful and to please STOP doing that. COMMON SENSE would dictate that you DO NOT ask your customer "If they want their change". Please teach them some customer-service-courtesies and etiquette. Trust me, I have this happen at numerous establishments, but RARELY with older Servers. They seem to know it's outrageous to even consider such a rude inquiry. We will TIP what we feel you deserve. Your Tip will LIKELY be LESS If you ask, "Do you need your change"?

Yelp
Much better service and experience this time around. Got food and drinks in a reasonable amount of time. Not the fastest service but not slow enough to complain. They had a good selection of beers available and it was tough to choose what food to have to eat. So many options sounded good but, I ended up going with the chicken pesto sandwich. It was a good tasting an filling sandwich with a side of fries. Would recommend this place to anyone looking to try Uno's for the first time.

Yelp
We've been here twice now- once for lunch and the second time for dinner. I would describe the food as not bad, but not much to phone home about- for lunch I remember having a burger I enjoyed. They have some OK beers on tap which are available at most restaurants that sell beer. Their margaritas are made with way too much mix and taste gross and syrupy-sweet. The service is just OK as well. They weren't rude but they didn't make me feel especially welcome either. If I was traveling, and I had to stop quickly off the interstate to get a bite to eat and I didn't want to have Burger King, I would come here. But that's really all Uno is for.

Ava G.

Yelp
this place has very poor service, it took five minutes just to be seated. not impressed.

Jordan R.

Yelp
As a local my whole life I didn't expect much but figured we would try it tonight as it wasn't busy. Girlfriend and I got seated, and they immediately seated a couple with 5 kids under 10yo directly beside us. 10 minutes later a waitress came and took their drink and appetizer order, without even acknowledging us. Another 10 minutes goes by and my girlfriends goes to the host and asks what's up. Said waitress comes back with the other tables drinks/apps then walks off. Waited 5 more minutes and left. Unreal

Maddie W.

Yelp
I order a particular salad from here almost everyday & today was the last time i fucked around with this place. not only do i have to wait 10 extra minutes when i go inside after already waiting 20, but the salad i got today had lettuce in it that looked like a 10 year old cut it. If i'm paying almost $20 for a salad, it should be good and fresh. It sucks because i really like the salad , but for the price i should be getting better.

Yelp
This was my first time at any Uno Pizza restaurant and I don't think I will return. We were seared by a very nice person. After that the luncheon wasn't the greatest. Our server came over and was polite. He asked if we would like time to look at our menus and we stated that would be great. Finally after 15-20 minutes he returned and took our order. Then we waited some more. Finally, our food arrived and the nachos were cold and unfortunately didn't taste great. I asked my daughter how was her pizza and she stated hot unlike the nachos but doughy. My daughter said it's deep dish so maybe that is why. I took one of her pieces and sure enough it was just that because in the core it was raw dough. From the pics below the food looks good to bad they didn't taste the same.

Yelp
You wouldn't think that a pizza place like UNO's pizzeria would be the place to be for food, drink and a good time overall but, this restaurant fits the bill. Whether you are looking at grabbing a quick bite during lunch off of their revamped lunch special menu where you can go with a sandwich of all fares along side of a bowl of soup unlimited from the soup bar. Are you looking at taking some co-workers or clients to lunch or dinner where you can spread out and go with a feast of pizza or snacks, then this is the place to go. Is it the night life that you are looking for? I wouldn't say that it is a sports bar by any means but it has 7 TVs in the bar area with trivia running throughout the day that you can play with the remote controllers. The restaurant also has snack hours from 4-7 and 10-close where you can nibble and bite on small portions of wings, crab fondue, chips and salsa, lobster sliders, cheeseburger sliders or other delicious fare .. even a flatbread pepperoni single serve pizza for like $2.99. The bartenders are great at this bar, both friendly and very attentive and treat you like an episode of cheers even if they don't know you too well. So, with all of that being said, I love the fact that the menu is chocked full of lighter fare with some great roasted veggies and even a Gluten-Free beer in redbridge. Lots of selections and components to their eclectic menu with everything from lobster fare, to pizza to a delicious iron skillet cooked chocolate chip cookie topped with ice cream that serves about 4 people. The only thing is that it charges your typical restaurant chain type of prices. Tall beers are expensive unless they are running a special and the liquor is really watched using jiggers and measuring cups then they charge big bucks. But I take it as the ambiance as being what I am paying for. Try it out if you haven't before. It is a fun place right outside of Bangor Mall.

Abdallah A.

Yelp
This maybe the only UNO's that doesn't know how to make deep dish pizzas. It was really salty, and soggy. I'd recommend starving.

Hadrien B.

Yelp
Our waitress was nice but not very well trained, she forgot to read back our order but that's just a nitpick. The fold in the other hand was horrid. For some reason our buffalo chicken macaroni and cheese came with bot ziti and spaghetti. The spaghetti was mostly hidden under the buffalo chicken. I'm guessing the cooks were hoping we wouldn't catch it? We ordered a new one to go that actually looked appetizing but when the bill arrived we were charged for both. Their mini "apple pie" looks like gas station apple crumble that somebody dropped(pic below) and cost around $6.00. Bad food quality, poor staff training combined with steep prices made for a horrible dinner. Stay away from this restaurant.

Yelp
We are staying in Bangor and visited Arcadia National Park. On the way back to the hotel, we stopped in for supper. My wife had a pizza and I a cheese burger. The service was excellent, food tasty (I would put their burger against anyone's), and the staff friendly. If you are in the area, I highly recommend.

Michael D.

Yelp
Ordered lobster roll with fries and clam chowder. The lobster roll had too much mayo but was still tasty. The clam chowder was rather bland but ok. We also ordered the steak tips with loaded mashed potatoes and broccoli which was delicious and prepared perfectly. The LIT was also very good. Service was excellent.
google avatar

Alex M.

Yelp
Opposite to some of the other reviews, I had a nice server. My company and I enjoyed the Thin Crust Works Pizza. The quality was adequate --not superb. Hence the 4 stars. In addition, we had a "Pick 3" appetizer sampler. Our selection was the quesadilla, mozzarella cheese sticks and buffalo wings. The mozzarella sticks were as I would have expected; the wings were actually pretty good; the quesadilla was uninteresting. It was a busy night, and the lack of cleanliness reflected it. All in all, a pretty good experience. If you are in the area and have your mind set on pizza, I would recommend it if you approach it with appropriate expectations.
google avatar

Jim C.

Yelp
Worse than pitiful. Our server, Serian, seemed fine initially. After getting drinks she took our order for caesar salads and pizza. 20 minutes later, we catch her to ask why the salads were taking so long. She simply walked away and returned with them, without a word. Later, when the pizza arrived, she place it on the table, took the pizza clamp off and left us to deal with a hot as hell deep dish pan to get our pizza. Again, no words. My partner and I just looked at each other bewildered. Finally we spoke to the manager, and explained. He apologized and we accepted. When the check arrived I noticed we'd been overcharged for the pizza. At that point the manager paid for our pizza. But the real zinger was when she brings over two small styrofoam boxes for a 3/4 of a large pan pizza! The manager brought us a proper pizza box. Really?! WOW! We loved Uno's until this visit.
google avatar

Kathryn W.

Yelp
My rating goes WAY down with our last visit. Prices have gone up, quality has gone down. No longer do they seem happy to accommodate special dietary needs or requests. They have removed some of their best menu items, and replace them with greasy tasteless bland food like their steak and cheese egg rolls. Sounds good, taste??? Nothing but grease. We will unhappily no longer make this our regular dining choice

Esther S.

Yelp
Me and my sibling decided to try Uno for the first time this past afternoon, and we weren't very pleased. When I ordered my water, there was a flea in it. a literal flea in my glads of water. So i returned it and the waiter made me feel like an idiot for pointing out the literal bug in my drink. After we figured out the water situation, we ordered our appetize, which was the cheesy, garlic, breadstick and It was just gross. when we got our pizza, we ordered a regular and it was teeny, it had chucks of tomato in the sauce, and honestly it just pissed me off that I paid 22 dollars for shitty ass food, honestly don't waste your time going to Unos, go to wendys or somethin.
google avatar

Scott S.

Yelp
Great spot to have a couple drinks and play the Playmaker game to unwind. The staff are very friendly, pleasant, and a delight to be around.
google avatar

Sarah E.

Yelp
Went back again with my coworkers from KahBang music | art | film Festival... we did one of the snack hour parties ($30 in free snack hour food?? HECK YES!) All we had to do was pay for our drinks! I can't believe more people don't know about this or do it. (Call Unos and ask for Marketing Directors email to set one up!) Our faves were the cheese sticks, shrimp and crab fun doo, my friend loved the avocado egg rolls and buffalo bites. They also had this buffalo quesadilla made with pizza dough... pretty good! For a drink you MUST try the white sangria... it is peach flavored with blueberries... mmmmmm so refreshing!

chris m.

Yelp
Service was slow and the food wasn't that great. There was one server and it took her forever to get around to each table (she was nice and had good customer service though). The food took forever to come out and was mediocre at best. Will never visit here again
google avatar

Bianca L.

Yelp
I visited this place a few years ago, but I still remember the pizza. It was the absolute most mediocre pizza I have ever had. It was tasteless, the crust was not cooked properly, and the cheese was hard. No thanks. It definitely does not compare one bit to pizzas we have in New York. Maybe I'm just too spoiled, but UNO's pizzas was definitely sub par.
google avatar

Darryl J.

Yelp
I generally prefer seeking out local places, but if I have to go chain franchise, UNO has always impressed. The service and speed is always excellent. The kids menu provides sufficient options including some healthy-ish options to just fried everything. I've had many different burgers and salads over several visits and they've all been well executed. The pricing is family friendly enough. They also got in on the craft beer wagon and offer a couple of decent selections, nothing to rave about but at least satisfactory.

James S.

Yelp
We came late after a movie. Good flatbread pizza and salads. Servers were very nice and we enjoyed ourselves.
google avatar

Jason S.

Yelp
We tried Uno for the first time and really enjoyed it. The waitress was friendly, recommended items and answered all questions. Our drinks were always topped off quickly although a bit less ice and they wouldn't empty so fast. The manager heard it was our first visit and gave us a coupon for $10 off our next visit. Nice gestures like this go a long way! I had the 'Shroom individual pizza and loved it! Very nice marinaded mushrooms and lots of cheese. Just don't look up the nutritional info. Scary! Overall, very good and we would definitely go again!
google avatar

Frank F.

Yelp
Food is ok but the music is too loud and distracting to carry on a normal conversation.
google avatar

Yelp
Had a great meal here(fish and chips) HUGE serving! The whole staff was on point-will definitely come back.
google avatar

Beth L.

Yelp
Service was great, server Sophie was extremely friendly. I happened to order the wrong pizza and they cooked me a new one for me at no charge. Will come back again, thanks

Alan C.

Yelp
So i've been coming here fairly regularly, mostly for lunch which is usually quick and pretty good. what blew me away was their dinner service. our waitress, i think her name was shirley/sharon/sonia? was very attentive (but not overly) which made our meal even more enjoyable. We tried the grill and chill items salmon and steak, and both were excellently cooked. Salmon had a good proportion and was cooked to perfection. We ordered the steak medium and it was a perfect medium. definitely recommend visiting this place. very well managed compared to its competitors in the area.
google avatar

Kaitlin D.

Yelp
I've been Into Uno's plenty of times and have been graced with server Serian's presence. She's always very attentive to her tables and double checks that we have everything we need, always willing to go the extra mile. I feel the complaint from 12/5/2016 does not represent who Serian is as a waitress. She is very welcoming to her tables and never fails to let them go home at the end of the night without having a satisfactory time.
google avatar

Ruth S.

Yelp
The $5 specials on Mondays is a great draw!!!! Don't stop it.its part of our weekly now

Yelp
Food and service were spot on tonight. 6 of us here including 2 kids. Kids were happy and the adults are ecstatic about the food. 3 shared pizza, one had chicken spinnocha. Yum!

Yelp
Gave unos another chance. Was harassed by the bartenders fiancee because he didn't like my view on marriage. He played on the fact that I'm a woman to say I'm single and lonely. Seconds prior to his rant his gf told him to be quiet but once he started she disappeared. I got no help and did tell the hostess on my way out. It's not her fault but still. He was out of line.

Nancy T.

Yelp
Excellent food, great service! Worth the wait, even if it's busy and there is a line.... this is my favorite restaurant, I wish this chain would open locations in Eastern Canada, where I'm from!!! Very very good, and highly recommended

B D.

Yelp
As a celiac it's usually difficult to find something different and Gluten Free but this place was great. They have a pretty big menu for Gluten Free. Burgers, pizza, salads and sides! I even got a GF beer. It was all very good! I recommend going here.
