New England Restaurants Offering Government Shutdown Meal Deals | Eater Boston

"I saw that furloughed federal workers can get any individual deep dish or Chicago thin crust pizza free during weekday lunch (until 3 p.m.) at Uno locations in the region (dine-in only; one per customer with valid federal government ID; not combinable with other discounts)." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

Ambience & Location Uno benefits from a prime Back Bay location adjacent to the Prudential Mall, offering convenient access and a lively atmosphere . The venue features both a casual dining area and an adjoining bar, making it a versatile choice for meals or drinks . While seating availability can be generous, some guests note that service can occasionally lag, particularly during busier times . Food Quality & Menu Uno delivers consistently solid deep-dish pizzas—the iconic Chicago-style staple its chain is known for . The “Chicago Classic,” topped with chunky tomatoes, crumbled sausage, mozzarella, and Romano, earns particular praise . For those seeking lighter options, the five-grain thin crust and inventive salads (like the chopped power salad with goji berries, grilled chicken, soy nuts, and more) provide noteworthy alternatives . Beyond pizza, the menu includes a range of burgers, sandwiches, pastas, and steak dishes . Specials such as weekday lunch deals—like all-you-can-eat soup with half-sandwich or pizza in under 10 minutes—are convenient and great value . Service & Experience Local reviewers frequently commend the staff’s friendliness and the overall helpfulness, though some mention occasional delays in service acknowledgment or receiving to-go packaging . One guest described the experience as “not amazing but okay,” emphasizing that Uno remains a dependable and hot meal option especially given its late-night hours Overall Impression Uno Pizzeria & Grill in Boston offers reliable comfort food in a convenient, casual setting. It’s a solid go-to for deep-dish fans and those craving hearty, familiar fare—especially with solid weekday deals and a central location. While it may not exceed expectations, it delivers when you’re after consistent pizzas, friendly service, and a relaxing spot for dinner or drinks. Let me know if you’d like a comparison with other Italian spots nearby or suggestions for places with more authentic deep-dish styles!

Update 2: Stopped by tonight to place a to go order. Black gentleman works very hard and still maintains a good attitude. He had tables, hosting and taking care of all rideshare pick ups. As a former f&b manager I would hire him without even interviewing. They could benefit from permanent a hostess. The bar ladies need improvement as only the guy came over to assist with line. One came from kitchen with fingers in mouth from eating and didn't wash hands. Manager should work on checking in on tables and perhaps more staff to cut down on wait time. If you are at hotel, get a good discount. Love the large chocolate cake and cookie skillet. Update: First time going since the pandemic. They are doing a good job of following protocol. They use bleach wipes before seating you. Everyone has masks on unless eating. Elizabeth was a great waitress. Friendly, good conversation and she works hard.

Great staff, very nice bar food. A little pricey for what it's worth, but anyways... Wish the place was decorated a bit trendy. No complaints here.

Excellent staff and amazing food! We stopped here at almost 10:00 after a long day at Boston Children's and were pleasantly surprised. Our server was a young man who was so nice and accommodating! We tried two different pizzas and an appetizer. Was so good, we came back the next night to try the pasta! We had another server and once again we were very pleased with him. The staff here is genuinely happy to help and they were some of the most pleasant people we encountered on our 8 day stay. Will definitely be back!

Arrived on music trivia night where Jake did his very best to make it fun (we won!) but the bar service was abysmal with very mediocre food. The bartender continually forgot our orders and we had to walk up to the bar numerous times to remind her. We’re staying at the hotel next door but will give this place a miss next time.

Was my first Chicago style pizza. I would say it was pretty good. I prefer it over the pan pizza. I did get the pizza with the 50 percent off individual size offer on Monday. This size is actually pretty small, about the size of your hand. Although, I guess it still fills you up because it's dense. The individual size isn't the best for topping since the size is so small. Next time I get it, I'll just get the 4 cheese. I think that would be the best.

I had not been back to a Unos in quite a while however after a long road trip on a Sunday I was pleasantly surprised that they were still open after 10pm. Grace was fantastic and also very honest when I wanted a draft beer and it was not working. She did not try some cheap up sell she instead shined with her great service and attitude. I knew the food was going to taste better because of that. She made my experience very memorable by going above and beyond what I expected. Highly recommend to give this place a second look and will be returning very soon.
