New England Restaurants Offering Government Shutdown Meal Deals | Eater Boston

"I saw that furloughed federal workers can get any individual deep dish or Chicago thin crust pizza free during weekday lunch (until 3 p.m.) at Uno locations in the region (dine-in only; one per customer with valid federal government ID; no minimum purchase; not combinable with other discounts)." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

Mom and I went for a girls day out. She ordered a chicken parm and I got Alfredo. Upon arriving home with the food, I found some interesting things in mine. First off, finding salmon in chicken broccoli Alfredo wasn’t what I expected. We found a small piece when inside but I didn’t say anything. I’ve now found more salmon and jalapeños than I asked for (which was none.) But the fact is, the food was absolutely amazing despite those small issues. The balance between sauce and pasta was perfect, they cooked the broccoli amazingly and even the chicken (which.i don’t usually eat) was extremely well made! Our waitress was so kind and remembered that I liked extra cherry’s in my Shirley Temples. She checked in on us but wasn’t ever hovering. She made a spot for my mom to put her mobility scooter without being in the way. When I got home, I called them and talked to someone and she was super sweet and understanding. She offered to switch me to a manager and I declined because this call wasn’t so I could complain, but to let them know so they could be more aware of this in the future. She said that she would still talk to the manager and relay the message to the cooks. I’ve never been to UNO’s before but I am honestly so happy with my experience here and this is a place I will most definitely go back to!

Google
Excellent service. Zachary was my waiter. His was so friendly and attentive. He was awesome!! Had the frozen peach mango drink and it was Delicious with a very nice presentation. The berry and goat cheese salad had excellent flavor and a good amount of everything in it. Also enjoyed a personal size 4 cheese pizza (which I could not finish). Overall a great experience. If in the area again, I would definitely return.

If you are in Tilton, NH, and want to hit up a chain, this is the one to pick. 99 is not what it used to be. Applebee's quality is way down, and I feel like their food is loaded with sodium. I was impressed here with everything. The drinks were also great as I didn't feel like the margarita was just loaded with sweet syrup but actually had flavor. I left here feeling satisfied with zero complaints, which is rare these days. Thursday was pasta night. I didn't realize until I received the bill and it was only $12.99!

Love this location. Heather at the front end is amazing. She always has a warm smile on her face when you enter. She gives an amazing 1st impression for this business. She is a great asset. Highly recommend 10/10 customer service from Heather.

Google
We had dinner at Uno Pizzeria & Grill in Tilton last The. It was a great experience. Uno sure does it right. The restaurant is casual and inviting. The atmosphere is perfect, set in a retro brick and wood decor from the 30's. The pizza is superb. Linda ordered a chef salad with grilled steak tips, and really enjoyed it. Our server April does a great job.

Brandi R.

Google
Loved eating here. We had a big group with a lot of kids. The service was great. Pizza was amazing. The only complaint is that they were sold out of many items on their menu but I'm sure that's not a normal occurrence we just got their after a busy couple of days. Server was very nice and prompt to get us drinks and make sure the kids had what they needed.

Robert D.

Google
Had the large cheese pizza, mozzarella cheese sticks, and spinach artichoke dip. Also tried the classic Uno burger. The pizza cheese and sauce were great, but the dough was a weird texture. The burger was fantastic, and the apps were pretty good. The prices were not too bad and the staff was pleasant and friendly.

Google
Wet typical Pizzeria Uno in Tilton, NH. Menu and food is typical for an Uno. Service friendly but can be slow. Pretty nice place in the physical sense. Plenty of parking. Located in parking lot with the outlets.

Yelp
Uno's in Tilton, NH, delivers a fantastic dining experience from start to finish. The food was spot on--hot, fresh, and full of flavor--and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Our waitress, Oonagh, was absolutely outstanding. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything came out perfectly. On top of her excellent service, she carries herself with confidence and energy that really adds to the experience. Only problem is she is taken . Between the great meal, the relaxing vibe, and the top-notch service from Donagh, I'll definitely be coming back the next time I'm in Tilton.

Yelp
The food has definitely improved lately. Since I am on a low carb plan, I pass up a lot of pasta and pizza, but the other dishes have greatly improved. The place is clean with a good atmosphere and the service is friendly and competent. They don't handle large parties as well as they could if they simply used 2 servers instead of one, but they work hard to please.

Danielle A.

Yelp
Food was fine. Service was friendly but took forever. Wouldn't recommend if you're bringing hungry kids to entertain.

Dave W.

Yelp
You can't beat the lunch special. Had deep dish and salad! Best meal on vacation! Server was great and personable. Place was clean and food was quick and delicious!

Terri J.

Yelp
Lunch was great. Had chicken salad with French onion soup. Ce tea is the best around. Service was very good.

Yelp
I've been meaning to write a review for some time now. Finally, I can summarize how great my experiences at the Tilton Uno Pizzaria & Grill have been. We always opt to sit at the bar (with the exception of one time when we were seated at a booth in the general dining area for lunch with my in-laws). The bar is really inviting & plenty of seating. The last waitress we had was also the bartender. She had been working there for the past 13 years & says it's the best job she has ever had. She says the management team treats her well & she has great, flexible hours. That says a lot about a place in itself. I forget what her name was, but she's usually there on the weekends working the bar. She was so friendly! I highly suggest ordering the Detroit-style pizza: Spicy Roadster. The large is pretty pricey ($25.49). Also, the Detroit-style pizzas are a limited time offer. SUPER GOOD! We loved the flavor combinations. There were plenty of fresh jalapenos on top which gave it an amazing kick. I had a side Caesar salad which was fresh. My husband had a cup of the broccoli & cheese soup, which he commented was great. Anytime we are in Tilton, we stop at Uno's for lunch & I look forward to going again!

Geny L.

Yelp
unbelievable. I called to order a large pepperoni pizza and the employee I spoke with said it would be $32.00. I questioned it because of the price I thought maybe that was for 2 pizzas. He said there was a special going on and I could get another for half price ( $48.00 for two large one- topping pizza from a chain????) I cancelled the order. I then looked on their website because I was sure he made a mistake. No mistake. In fact, a personal pizza 7" was $16.00! Are people really paying that ridiculous price???? I will never go there - I wouldn't mind paying top dollar to a local pizza place with fresh local ingredients- but not to chain - especially Uno's (food safety is questionable). Look on their website for their "latest tweets" - they are dated 2019!

Yelp
It was meh....the deep dish pizza was the best thing we ordered. One of the meals was an inedible burger. We should have known when the restaurant was empty on a Sunday at lunch time. I don't think we'd return. I did give an extra star for the server. She was kind and checked in a couple of times during the meal.
google avatar

Kate C.

Yelp
We had a really nice easy dinner at this location near the outlet stores. My Mac and cheese was great. The pomegranate margarita fantastic, and our app of giant ravioli with a pesto drizzle so good. Kids had pizza, and a burger, hubs had a veggie deep dish. Waitress in the bar area was great.

Yelp
The food is on off. Sometimes it's good, sometimes bad I got food poisoning there and couldn't make it home in time and ending up shitting my pants. I got home. It smelled so bad my wife passed out, we rushed to the ER. Thanks a lot Uno!(this is fake, same with my wife)

Yelp
This visit to the tilton NH Uno's was a lot better than a previous visit to Concord. The waitress was very attentive and happy to be there . We were there later in the day so we just got appetizers. They arrived fast and were cooked well. All but one of the apps were hot. The sampler seemed to have been sitting for a while before the other two were finished so it got s little cold. But over all the service was decent and the taste of the food was good

Yelp
Lived in Chicago 10 yrs , moved back home last year, and well we miss the Lou Malanitis and giodandos , so Uno is it when we want something close to Chicago pizza! People are friendly , pizza is pretty decent and food is always fresh
google avatar

Charlie D.

Yelp
Had a salad and deep dish pizza pepperoni. Food was very good, crisp fresh salad. Pizza was hit and the pepperoni had great crispy flavor. Our waitress Kaitlyn was really nice she smiled and was genuinely happy. She was able to help me with the app to become a rewards client. Good food great service equals 5 star review.

Lexi M.

Yelp
Uno is usually good, but they worry more about money then service. The cheese amount they add is ridiculously low, so don't expect much. Their dough is good for gluten free though, but if you like cheese on your pizza than this isn't the place for you.
google avatar

Ara A.

Yelp
So this place is very average mediocre etc. started with the awful nachos...boy that was terrible, made with chili yuck but if you could find a piece of beef in that nachos you were lucky. I had the chicken pesto pizza and hubby had the Chicago thin crust. The pizzas were ok nothing fantastic. The server brought me the wrong drink, all in all not great but my impression is that it's normal.

Michael S.

Yelp
The Applebees of pizza. Absolutely nothing wrong with this UNO. Deep dish was serviceable and very decent. No complaints.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch after shopping! The food was delicious! The service was great. Our server was so friendly and helpful. Will definitely stop in again!

Yelp
My husband worked hard to buy us a anniversary dinner that wasnt edible . we got the brocoli chicken alfredo . 1st to earn what he made working hard and get these meals 2 of them that literally had 1 drip of alfredo sauce on each meal come on guys you can do better than that .everyone knows the whole point of eat alfredo is because its the best part .very dissapointed . it was flavorless pasta and brocoli so disssapoointed . we were so hungry literally couldnt eat
google avatar

Cody H.

Yelp
Standard for the chain restaurant. The bartender was a pro however. She remembered my name and order the second time I came back. That's service! The food was delicious, plus they have a happy hour menu for cheap appetizers. Great value. Bring your stretchy pants.

Yelp
We have been to many UNO's and this one was on our list because we visited the Tilton, NH Tanger Outlets. The service we had was outstanding and food was perfect. Everything was cooked to order correctly. We had a brand new waitress and she even did excellent. She was very pleasant and attentive. Great atmosphere and we will definitely be back to visit!

Ceaser S.

Yelp
Great food! Great service! Definitely recommend the fried ravioli! ____________________________________________________

Yelp
Always have loved Uno. The pizza is very good and the beer selection has something for everyone. I was alone, so ate at the bar. The bartender was awesome.. she called me by name, and was friendly and attentive.

Yelp
I had a great experience across the board! Parking, service, food, drinks...all top notch! I had a personal ny crust pizza with mushroom & sausage and a ceasar salad. Everything was fresh and pizza was yummy! Good drinks too. My server was very friendly and accommodating. Couldn't really ask for more. I'd come back!
google avatar

Mary S.

Yelp
I ordered a Diet Coke with a curbside pickup order. The website showed in a 20 oz. bottle as in left photo. What I got was a 16 oz. foam cup as in right photo. They charged me $2.29 for this. Server said they don't even carry bottles. I feel totally ripped off. I contacted Uno 3 weeks ago and never got a response. Food was just ok.

Andrea D.

Yelp
Went there for lunch after shopping at the outlet stores....the food was bland and overly salty. Many of the bowls and plates at the soup bar were dirty and crusty and the table was sticky. Our server seemed preoccupied or having a really bad day, kept forgetting things that went with our meal, reminded her i wanted water twice. Absentminded and hurried, no offer of dessert, just a check and she was gone. I have no desire to eat at this restaurant ever again, there are other places much better, cleaner and nicer service.
google avatar

Yelp
We just stopped for lunch with our two kids. We were all hungry! The food was good, but the service and value were outstanding. All the staff we interacted with went out of their way to help us and be friendly! We come with a 1 and 3 year-old, so I'm always really grateful when waitstaff makes us feel welcome.

Keleigh A.

Yelp
Very Clean, great service, food was very good, and let our party of 9 (same family) sit together! The kids got pizza dough to play with and our waitress was very nice and attentive. Pizza and salad were great too!
google avatar

Mel M.

Yelp
We had a terrific experience here. Hostess was attentive. Server was very friendly and helpful and food was good. Server accidentally brought one incorrect dessert, but offered to let us keep it (along with correct dessert) as they would have to throw it out anyway. More dessert...yes please!
google avatar

Christine B.

Yelp
Wow! Pleasantly surprised! Sometimes chain restaurants can be hit or miss, but today was excellent. Our waitress (Marissa) was friendly, eficient and carismatic. The food was great and the drinks large - what more could you ask for?

Kenny P.

Yelp
I was not a fan. We were staying at Steele Hill and they do not serve food or drinks on Wednesdays. So we took the 20 minute drive to Uno Pizza to get some food for us and the kids. Apparently this is not the place to bring kids because it was obvious that the waitress had no patience for us. A few changes to our order had us feeling like we were no longer welcome. I would understand a bit, but the place was almost empty. I would suggest knowing exactly what you want before going there as the food was actually decent.

Yelp
Went here for dinner with my girlfriend tonight because neither of us had been to an UNOs in a long time. We were sat immediately and our server immediately showed up and took a drink order. Our servers were extremely nice, and tended to us as quickly as possible at all times. Our appetizer came quickly and was delicious, we ordered the grilled Parmesan sticks. I ordered a steak cooked medium which was perfect, and better than average for an $11 price point (although I still think Chilis takes the cake for best steak among the chains). One major negative that should be addressed was that the dish for my appetizer was spotty and the glass for my hard cider very murky and cloudy. I have worked in the restaurant industry for eight years now, so a cloudy glass doesn't really bother me personally, but I think most people would have said something. Overall a very nice dinner out, it is hard to beat the atmosphere in the lounge at UNOs around here.

Yelp
Service here has been so very slow the last 4 times. Food is always just okay. Drinks are good. Should be better for the price. I know it gets busy on friday nights but the last 3 times were middle of the week nights and it was just as slow. But it's one of the reasons I rarely go to Pizza Uno in Titlon, NH. The gluten free menu is pretty good though. I am now editing my review because I want to expand upon it. I got the steak and shrimp gluten-free with roasted vegetables. I highly recommend it. For a chain restaurant, it was very good! I kind of wished they had a little more on this menu though, then I might visit more often. Still, I know its hard to cater to everyone's needs/wants that way. I do not have a gluten allergy, but I don't eat it for other reasons. Still, the manager came out to let us know that the steak had come in contact with gluten and they were refiring one for me... I took the one that was done instead. Still, that was cool.

Yelp
Been sitting here for 45 minutes people who came in after us have gotten the food before us and ordered well after us service is horrible will never return. The management apologized over and over but did nothing to improve the service didn't even comp my drinks so I payed for them

Janva A.

Yelp
11/9/18 Went in to Uno's with my 12 yr. old granddaughters and while we were sitting there a large party came in with children. The hostess began setting up a large table next to us and was obviously irritated with the large party because she began slamming menus and silverware down on the table and slamming chairs which made us jump because of the loud noise. She kept mumbling under her breath. Each time she would leave then walk back to the table she would slam one of the chairs. We found her behavior inappropriate and feel she should be spoken to by manager.

Destiny F.

Yelp
I have went here a few times and the waitress that I had was amazing. Food is great here. They have nice daily specials too!

Mary K.

Yelp
I grew up in Chicago and when I was growing up, my family rarely went out to dinner. But I do remember when we went downtown to the original Unos and Dues and waited for 30 minutes just to get in! Then waited for an hour for our pizza! It was always worth the wait! It was the best! My husband and I went to Unos in Tilton today at lunchtime and we waited for 30 minutes to get a table watching customer after customer after customer walk out of the restaurant because of the wait. Bad business considering 2/3rds. of the tables were empty! They were , very understaffed and a gentleman who I think was the manager, finally started bussing and waiting tables. Our waitress was very charming and friendly. The drinks from the bar came out very slow but were very good. My 'pizza of the day' boasted double cheese and double sausage. There was hardly any cheese at all! Not at all like the pizzas I remembered! Also, my husband's Caesar salad was very sparse. The soups were great! I know for lunch, people can't wait an hour for a pizza, but there must be a better way to prepare the pizzas beforehand so they come out with a better quality, not semi-burnt and doughy. It was embarrassing to me to bring my husband to a restaurant I praised over and over again and then receive the quality of the food we received.
google avatar

Adam S.

Yelp
I used to dislike Unos so much. In the past couple years ive been here for mainly pizza and appetizers and have been shocked how good the food has become. The thin crust pizza is surprisingly good... if you havent been in a while, try it out!

Wow M.

Yelp
Salad and soup bar for lunch....not a great place. Soup tastes like cans of Campbells that had been sitting for a while, very salty and bland. The salad was very ho hum ... my friend ordered chicken salad and the waitress forgot to bring it, forgot the bread that was supposed to come with it and left the check without offering anything for dessert. Service was mediocre at best....our server was inattentive and forgetful, or just overwhelmed by life. This is the second time I've been here and it was the same kind of atmosphere. Don't think I'll be back.
google avatar

May C.

Yelp
Visit this place again last week for lunch specials. I ordered two lunch specials for take out. One for soup and chicken thumb, the other for salad and chicken thumb. The chicken thumb were lightly battered and fried to perfect. They never let me down. And the salad was fresh and tasty. I used my own dressing, so cannot comment on their dressing. I would like to go back and sit down for their large size salad some time soon. But the soup is so minimum even though the menu says all you can eat. When I unpack my food at home, I found the soup in a small size bowl, I guess regular lunch size, but filled at most half of the bowl. I am not very happy with that. I guess I would stick to the salad in the future when ordering a take out.

Alyssa G.

Yelp
Went today for lunch and left hungry. The server came over and while she was nice, did not give us a polite greeting and simply asked if we were ready. We weren't because we had sat less than a minute before, so we ordered a couple of waters and asked for more time. When she came back we ordered drinks and the nachos appetizer. When she returned with the drinks, we ordered our entrees. 10 minutes into sitting, everything was done and ordered. Our nachos came out, without guacamole, which I had asked for and I knew we were paying extra for. It took her 5-7 minutes to remember. The nachos were okay, But left something to be desired. Then we sat.... And sat... And sat... They now have these cool little "ziosk" things where you can pay your bill and order dessert. I looked at our bill and noticed that our entrees weren't there, so I hit the call server button. A little red button lights up and someone is supposed to come over and help. Well, everyone looked at it, but no one came over. Finally, our server came over and admitted to forgetting to put our meals in, but that she just had. We informed her that we didn't want to wait, because we had been waiting close to an hour. The meals were (obviously) were taken off the bill, but that was it. The manager never really apologized just said " she would look into what happened". I was going to tell her the server fessed up to forgetting, but she just walked by the table and never stopped. Overall, I went shopping hungry.

Yelp
Being a Chicago ex-pat, and with my wife having a craving for deep dish, i thought i was just in for another let-down. However, the chicago classic was excellent and was a near close replica of the real thing. Enjoyable pizza, although they're a bit on the small side.

Corey A.

Yelp
Unfortunately the quality of service and food at this Unos has significantly decreased over the years. We used to order take out from this Unos at least once a week but due to constant issues with getting the order correct and consistent quality of food we took Unos off our list of places to go. Last night we decided to try again since it's been a few months... huge mistake. We ate in the bar section which wasn't all that busy for a Saturday yet overall service was slow, maybe the waitress had tables out in the normal dining room? My wife's food did not come out correctly and they did not return with the corrected entree for over 15 minutes, after everyone else had finished eating. It was clearly a kitchen mistake as the waitress confirmed the order to make sure she had it right when taking it. I would have expected a manager to come apologize and a discount on the entree offered however nothing beyond a cursory sorry was offered until my father-in-law complained. Having a member of your party sit and watch everyone eat due to a mistake on the kitchen's part is unacceptable, no idea why they see it as OK. The process of receiving the bill after we were finishing eating, paying and leaving a tip took over 30 minutes. As mentioned previously the service in the bar area this night was extremely lacking. This review just covers a single visit, it's unfortunate I've had well over 20 bad experiences with this Unos to the point they had my name down with instructions to double check my order for take out due to the amount of times they either forgot or did not prepare the food correctly causing me to call in. Out of all the times I called in only once did I accept compensation for the mistakes, the other times I stressed how I just wanted the food prepared properly and no items forgotten as my goal is not to get free food but to get quality food and service. It seems this Unos is catering to the tourist crowd that visits the outlets and does not want to bother with the higher standards required to retain regular clientele which is unfortunate because we really enjoy the food when it's made properly. Lastly, these issues started ~2 years ago. The first 4 years that we frequented this restaurant we never had anything besides minor issues that didn't warrant a complaint or a review. Only after 2 years of terrible service did I decide it was time to write a public review as I can only receive so many promises from the managers.

Frank S.

Yelp
I went to Unos last night with some friends. One of my friends ordered a meal, the other ordered an appetizer, and all of us ordered some drinks. My friend ordered a All Day IPA, but received a Longtrail Ale. After a few sips, he realized he had the wrong beer, and informed the waiter, who then gave him his All Day IPA. Once the checks arrived, on my check it said I had ordered two beers. I had only ordered one, as I was the designated driver. I informed the waiter, and after a minute or so discussion, my friend pointed out that that extra beer was supposed to be on his tab. The waiter looked annoyed, and eventually fixed the checks. All of this is fine, and mistakes occur. I understand that, and what happened up to this point was not what prompted me to create a yelp account and write my first review. That would be what happened next. As we left, we waived goodbye to the waiter and said thank you, and as we turned the corner he yelled out "Thanks for being ______ difficult!" (I thought the blank was an expletive but was not 100% certain, so I don't want to assume what the word was) We were not being rowdy, just a few friends grabbing a couple of drinks together. The only thing that we did was point out mistakes, and simply ask that they be corrected. We weren't rude about it. We thanked them after the corrections, and thanked them on our way out. I know that everyone can have a bad day, but that sort of behavior from the waiter is unjustified.

Heather E.

Yelp
Come here quite a-bit. Often a go to spot when meeting up with family as it is convenient. Tonight I went in with my daughter for a much needed girls date and was very excited to see her. While the food is always good tonight's service was down right disrespectful. Our server Marissa was beyond standoffish to the point I was afraid to request anything further from her. It took way to long for one draft to come out and when I asked if I could have my beer- her response was the bartender is busy and doing the best he can- Being a server myself I know a busy bar when I see it- He was not and again it's a draft not a fancy cocktail. When she did finally bring it with our salads she made sure to place the draft right in front of me- where the salad should have been place. Her mannerisms through the whole night was to slam/clash dishes all around us. I could go on more with the other comments from her such as "I can only do one thing at a time" but the post would just get overly long and silly. Note to self- perhaps hide your disgust alittle better, tips are earned not just assumed.

Jim C.

Yelp
Bravo to this UNO's location. A lot of chain restaurants say they have local craft selections but this place actually did. Very impressed with the beer list! Food and service were good as well

Emily F.

Yelp
The place is horrible I recommend not to eat here because it took a while to get the drinks and the food wasn't that good and the waitress was very nice but the service was bad I recommend eating somewhere else

Yelp
Good friendly food and service. This was our 2 time here we stopped by while heading up to North Conway NH.

Yelp
Went for lunch today..very busy. Ordered salad and pizza of the day. Well it should have been named pizza of YESTERDAY. Crust was old, flat and not very good. Service was ok..but I should have gone elsewhere.

Sabrina H.

Yelp
Good tasting food and quick service, but what a horribly awkward experience. Typically, when I go to a restaurant to sit down and eat, I don't really want to be pestered or "jokingly" teased by my server. Unfortunately, this was the experience I had- one as a result of what I'm certain was probably just a bad apple in the whole bunch, but still. So, my girlfriend and I chose this location for our anniversary dinner and were treated wonderfully as soon as we got there, but things fell downhill as soon as we were seated. A woman eventually came to our table and wrote her name on a napkin, proceeding to leave it there and stare at it before even telling us who she was; apparently, our server from then on. She appeared very all over the place, criticizing the way she wrote her name and asking us what we thought, before anything else. We ordered waters, to which she remarked was "lame", but said she would get them anyway. Later on, my girlfriend asked for a box for her appetizer, to which our server responded with a dragged-out "Nooo" as though she couldn't believe it wasn't all eaten. It took my girlfriend telling her again for her to agree to get a box. And when we later wanted boxes for our pizzas, the server decided to draw the toppings on each box so we knew which was in which box. I was fine with that. But then she began calling out the name of a coworker, attracting attention to our table. Customers and workers alike were staring at the server and our table as she cheered about being able to draw a pineapple on the box. Coming back to us, she went on to joke about how she deserved to get an art degree so she could get out of there. Throughout the whole dinner, we watched as this same server sat at different tables while people were trying to order or eat their dinners, flirting with the men at the tables and visibly making one older couple highly uncomfortable. It was just an overall bad experience. With my girlfriend working in the restaurant business and us just being decent people, we always leave tips. This time was a rare exception. Otherwise, everything was good. I'd definitely go back for the food and the relaxing atmosphere, but the 2-stars are for how extremely uncomfortable this server made us.
