Chef Adán Fausto Will Revive His Seafood Pop-Up at the Houston Blacklight | Eater Portland

"Fusing his earlier pop-ups Paradise Mariscos and Tacos con Onda, Fausto plans to bring back a retooled concept called Mariscos con Onda that is anticipated to take over the Pisha-Dufflys’ psychedelic bar Houston Blacklight beginning in early June. There he will serve ceviche, seafood cocktails, shrimp flautas, and fried oyster tortas, and he’s working with Houston Blacklight bartender Em Warden to revamp the cocktail menu so it pairs with the mariscos offerings—cocktails might be garnished with whole oysters or grilled shrimp, and a mangonada-inspired slushie finished with chamoy is planned." - Janey Wong

I found this place in Round Rock using google maps, I almost hesitated to check it out, but I’m glad I didn’t. The place is off of 79, I’m not sure if they have parking in the back, but they do share parking with other small shops. The place is clean, and they have plenty of seating available. The service is friendly and efficient. The food is very good, at least what I tried this time, which is a shrimp and octopus cocktail. They have a wide variety of different hot sauces to choose from. They also have a stage where they appear to have karaoke, and they also play Mexican music, this is based on the instruments on the stage. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

My first experience: From the outside, Unos Mariscos o Que might seem like just another unassuming spot—but don’t be fooled. This is a hidden gem in Round Rock that seafood lovers must experience. The moment you step inside, you’re welcomed by an open, clean, and well-put-together space that feels both inviting and thoughtfully designed. The atmosphere strikes a perfect casual and inviting balance making it an ideal place for a relaxed meal with family or friends. Now, let’s talk about the food—incredible doesn’t even begin to describe it. The seafood is flavorful, and prepared well. Whether you're craving ceviche, tacos, or a perfectly grilled fish fillet, every dish is crafted with authentic flavors and quality ingredients (again, my first experience). The seasoning is spot on, and the portions are generous without being overwhelming. Service is another highlight. The staff is attentive, friendly, and quick to offer recommendations, ensuring you find the perfect dish to suit your taste. If you’re a seafood lover, Unos Mariscos o Que is an absolute must-visit. Great food, welcoming atmosphere, and good service—it’s the kind of place you’ll find yourself coming back to again and again.

Overall, we had a pretty good meal here, minus some service issues. The seafood is definitely the star, good and fresh. Both the seafood tower and the grilled shrimp (cucharachas) were very good. The michelada was also quite nice. The service issues were probably language challenges as our waitress did not speak English, and our Spanish is limited, but they goofed up the kids orders, and had to remake them, which always creates the challenge of us trying to eat while the kids have nothing. That said, although wouldn’t rush back, could try again since the food was good.

Great food. I ordered octopus well, cooked soft and juicy, generous portions, Service needs more experience. There was a 10 people table, and everything looked like slowed. The bar we order beer it came late and the menu prices are diferent than what you're charged no big deal Seafood fluctuate in price but a photocopy off your new prices helps until you get new menus. The atmosphere is ok, but tvs with a frozen channel is no to appealing Remembered sports attract customers no Mtv Well, the important part is the food is goog

I try this place after a day out in the river... order the shrimp and octopus cocktail.. never again save your money. It was all water with a heavy taste of soy sauce. And onion.. and like 4 or 5 shrimp. And no Octopus.... what a weird flavor... nothing I ever tasted and nothing I would like to ever taste again. Hope I can save someone the bad experience of this place..

Went to eat here because I was craving Hispanic shrimp 🍤 cocktail. This place had the highest rating compared to other places so we came here. I ordered the shrimp cocktail and we also ordered the shrimp with rice plate. They both really good, I liked how they had a variety of sauces to choose from. They had music playing in the background, good atmosphere. The only thing we waiting a while for the food to come out. Other than that it was good

Ordered ceviche for appetizer, mojarra frita and mariscos soup. Really fresh, tasty and flavorful. Soup would be enough for 2-3 ppl. Chicken fingers for kids homemade and delicious. Great service and experience. I’ll be back for margaritas and octopus tostadas they look amazing.

I went this weekend and I must admit that the aguachile is the best I have ever had, but my husband ordered garlic shrimp and they were overcooked, dry and with a lot of garlic without even being mixed with any butter. It is a call for them to improve their garlic shrimp recipe. The rest was super good.
