Pizza in New York. Talk about making yourself a ripe target for judgement!
We were initially intrigued by this shop's more unique take on pizza. On first presentation, we were impressed with what we could see...the square shaped slices with interesting toppings (burrata!) was very attractive, and we eagerly ordered a few varieties. The looks were promising.
Most slices were in the $5-7 range, with their special burrata topping costing up to $11. Seemed a touch steep, but maybe their unregularness could justify the premium...or not.
Hey, I appreciate wanting to bring a unique twist to a NY classic, but I am sad to report that we were only ok with what we tried. We know that we can simply get a better slice and probably for cheaper. The burrata slice was a nice twist, but I don't think it justifies the cost. The 'bread to slice' ratio felt off to me.
There is a universal maxim that says "There is no such thing as bad pizza", and this pizza didn't break that law, but we were still underwhelmed.
We did get perhaps the friendliest service experience of slice shops around, so that was definitely a plus. Thanks, friendly lady, for guiding us on our unregular journey and putting up with our questions on what the different toppings were. Maybe it was a sign that there weren't very many customers, so she had the time to do that, though.
