Black and Brown guests, beware: this venue fosters a culture of hostility and racial bias.
What should have been an enjoyable night out quickly turned into an experience of humiliation and unprovoked aggression. As a first-time guest, I was met with prejudice and intimidation from multiple staff members the moment I stepped in.
While dancing, I placed my bag on the floor--an understandable choice, given that the coat check was closed. I was immediately yelled at by a short Hispanic staff member and a tall Black bouncer with long dreads and glasses. Their tone was unnecessarily aggressive, especially considering I was unfamiliar with the venue's policies. There was no attempt at respectful communication--just hostility and intimidation.
Later that night, while having a conversation with the DJ (a mutual friend), another young-looking Hispanic staff member approached my group and accused us of stealing a table lamp. He asked to search our bags in the middle of the lounge--a humiliating and completely baseless request. When I responded, "Do I look like I would steal a table lamp?" he quickly backed down and seemed uninterested in continuing the search. I insisted he check my bag anyway, just to prove a point. Even the DJ felt compelled to apologize on behalf of the staff, which speaks volumes.
This experience was not just about poor customer service--it was about being profiled and treated as suspicious simply for existing in a space as a Black woman. I was met with hostility, suspicion, and blatant disrespect. It was clear I was being targeted, and the entire encounter left me feeling dehumanized.
To top it off, the venue itself is far from impressive. Given the mediocre atmosphere and subpar treatment, I can confidently say this is not a space I'd recommend to anyone--especially Black and Brown patrons who expect to be treated with basic human dignity.
