"In this chic, smartly furnished restaurant, things are both relaxed and lively at the same time. The team are pursuing their vision of redesigning Lithuanian cuisine and work with modern techniques following a Nordic style. Ingredients come mainly from the Baltic region, although there are some exceptions, resulting in dishes like beetroot taco with seabass ceviche, pickled onion and coriander or grilled veal chop with chive butter, grilled tomatoes, potato and ghee butter mash. Choose from the concise à la carte or order the tasting menu in advance to sample the full range of the kitchen’s talents." - Michelin Inspector

We had a really good time in Uoksas. The service is really welcoming and warm. We also liked the creative food. We liked the nice bread, the quail roulade, the Donburi and the fried trout very much. The ambience is really cosy. We would come back!

We dined at Uoksas with high expectations, based on their Michelin recommendation. We had ordered the three-course tasting menu with a paired wine selection. Unfortunately, we were left with a somewhat empty feeling. The food did not quite live up to our expectations. The starter was creative and innovative, but the main course, a pan-fried trout, was something you could easily find at many other restaurants. The dessert, consisting of four different preparations of cucumber, was certainly inventive, but ultimately fell flat — both in presentation and flavor. A shame. Unfortunately, on a Thursday evening, there was only one other table occupied besides ours. Of course, this is not something Uoksas can be blamed for, but it did take away from the overall atmosphere and sense of an authentic dining experience. The wines, however, were exciting and delightful. The service was excellent and attentive, but unfortunately, the price of €183 for two people did not match the overall quality of the experience.

I have to say, service was good. We were greeted warmly since the beginning and everything was well instructed and explained. The low rating I’m giving is mainly for the food. We opted for 60€ tasting menu (2x starter, 2x main and 2x dessert per person) Nothing faulty or majorly wrong with the food. They are fine, but just fine. Some of the dishes I would even say are below average. Please note that my comments are subject to my personal taste only. the first main: fish(bit dry and bland), prawn, smoked couscous(dry and hard, undercooked maybe?)and shrimp reduction sauce(flavourful and nice) The two desserts weren’t to our taste as well. First dessert: chocolate mousse(too sweet) pair with salted caramel filling(that is rich and too sweet as well). Second dessert: Buckwheat ice cream tasted “flour-ish” and the yellow fruit sauce were overpowering sweet pairing with the red powder that gives a strong acidic contrast resulting the whole dish to be overpowering. We dine in with the expectation of Michelin recommended standard experience but was pretty disappointed. But I would like to give them the benefit of doubt that maybe the top quality food is from the a la carte menu instead of the tasting menu. (In response to Uoksas’s comment below) First of all, somehow I am not surprised to receive reply from your restaurant in such manner after reading how you dealt with unsatisfied customers from previous ratings. If a restaurant/chef couldn’t take any negative comments from their customers for further improvements, you’re basically cooking for yourself, might as well do it at home. To clear your doubt in case you think your food were so good that we finished them, I’m sorry to disappoint you but we just landed Lithuania few hours ago and it was our first meal of the day at 3pm. Don’t get me wrong, as I mentioned, the food were just “fine” not amazing or some not even good. Average was the biggest compliment we could give sparingly. And for record, as hungry as we were. We still couldn’t to finish our plate at the end of two courses, not as how you try to scam the readers here. We didn’t want to stay any longer, quickly ask for bill and left to get something else to eat. I apologise if my friend and my honest opinions hurt your ego, but it is what it is. Take it or leave it :)

Absolutely amazing experience. Very kind staff that explained very well the dishes, and guided us with our doubts. Great variety of plates, while using season and regional products. We were specially surprised by the usage of beetroot and cucumber in such different ways. Kudos to the Uoksas team for elaborating such professional tasty recipes, and keeping the environment comfortable.

Fantastic restaurant located in Kaunas, Lithuania. We had the six course meal where the kitchen decide what to eat together with wine pairing. It was an awesome experience where you could taste the freshness of the ingredients. A huge plus for keeping it Lithuanian with local ingredients and even sparkling wine. Great service and nice atmosphere. The pictures talks for themselves. Recommended A+

Everything was perfect, the food was very good, and we had a 5-course dinner. Service was amazing, they were flexible with our booking time even though we were a bit late, all the focus was on us, as there were not too many people. The chef told us about every dish we had and the waiter advised us with a really good selection of wines. The atmosphere was cosy with darker lighting, so everyone relaxed and had a really good time.

I've been meaning to try Uoksas for many years. We went for a 6 course tasting menu, which was comprised of larger portions than expected. I really appreciated the staff's service and attention to detail, and the wines paired with the food were divine. Now, when it comes to the food - all of the dishes were very imaginative; some were mind-blowingly good (like the slow cooked duck egg starter with asparagus and peas, and the first sorbet and cream dessert), some were quite the opposite (the stinky mushrooms next to the fish; the undercooked grainy semolina base underneath the sorbet of the 2nd dessert, etc.). Overall, the flavours were a bit of a hit and miss for me, and if I'm ever back, I think I'd rather order fewer items, and choose them off the menu - but I still really enjoyed the experience. Follow up: Thank you for clarifying the exact names of foods I found inedible, I'll assume that they were prepared correctly, and make sure to avoid ordering them in the future.

Everything about the food and atmosphere was wonderful — so why the one star? We had a reservation for 9:00 pm, but at 10:15 pm we were told the restaurant closes at 10:00 pm and we had to leave. This was very upsetting and completely ruined the mood of our dinner. If the restaurant knows closing time is 10:00 pm, the reservation system should not allow bookings as late as 9:00 pm, or at least customers should be clearly informed upfront that they won’t have enough time for a full dining experience. It’s a simple fix, but without it, guests are left feeling rushed and unwelcome — which overshadowed what was otherwise an amazing evening.
