Upfordayz will definitely have you up! My companion found this cafe for us to try since I'm a sucker for a nice sit-down spot serving specialty drinks.
The cafe is quite spacious as it's situated on the corner. A lot of beautiful natural light allows an airy ambiance to take over the clean and minimalistic setting. There are plenty of tables and outlets for diners to sip, sit, talk, or work but most customers take it to-go. The shop promotes the usage of local ingredients and freshly made beverages and bites. Service by all is delightful and items are crafted in efficiency. Ordering is done easily at the counter and items are called out by name.
Everywhere I looked, my eyes took in what was offered. Sandwiches, salads, health bowls, and pastries are available for those with an appetite. Drinks included juices, shakes, espressos, teas, plus specialty beverages. As a matcha lover, they have so many creative matcha options which is awesome! I had to get their Blueberry Matcha Latte with Soy Milk. This was my first time trying a blueberry matcha and I was a fan! I found the matcha to be light and subtle while the puree was on the chunkier side which was sweet and syrupy but had a hint of tartness. Mixed together was a well-balanced drink that I would order again. However, I am curious about their Strawberry Matcha. My companion ordered a hot Cha Cha tea and enjoyed it.
This is an ideal neighborhood cafe nestled off of Polk that serves the community. It wouldn't be a place I'd go out of my way for but they do have plenty of options (dairy alternatives, vegetarian, vegan). They also have a location in the Mission district that I may check out in the future.
