Upright Coffee

This shop brightened up my day. The coffee was nicely brewed and was delicious. They also have a lavender syrup that is lovely, especially added to their cold brew coffee. This prices are great and even greater, the barista. She had such a wonderful, warm, and welcoming personality. Highly recommend!

Small shop focusing on takeout instead of sit down. The staff are friendly and the prices are quite reasonable for the area. The coffee was pretty average for what you can get in the area. I had a 7.6 cortado that was quite bitter and lacked attention to detail on the milk work.

The coffee is average, it does the work, but after paying 6+ for a coffee you would expect it’s better quality. The pastries are expensive and look great on the outside but aren’t that good. The staff was friendly but that’s it. The venue doesn’t have a place where you could actually sit or do something after ordering. I am honestly a bit disappointed of this place. I had some high expectations after looking at the google maps reviews but other than the price, they simply were not met. There are a couple coffee shops better and with better pastries just walking a few more minutes.

Great bold tasting café, worth paying a bit more than watered down 7/11 coffee, but my favorite part is the location. It's next to Sunshine Laundromat which is a local staple laundry facility with pin balls machines and PBR available at the back bar after 4pm. Grab yourself a well balanced cup of coffee, do your laundry and reward yourself with a beer when your done beating your friend in a pinball match and your clothes are dry.

Great little spot for coffee. Their seasonal pumpkin spice latte is so good. Not too sweet and packed with spices. This is just walk in, walk out - no room to work or sit but that’s okay

First time going in I will say the vanilla latte and almond croissant tested amazing. Was excited to go back and I did today. But this time the latte isn't as good it's sour tasting could be the milk but wow what a let down and the croissant this time was hard it taste like it's been there over night. Disappointed :(

Great local code spot for a lavender latte - they also sell rose and lavender syrups which I also snagged a bottle of to make my own homemade lemonade as well as lattes! The barista was super friendly as well. Definitely will return!

Favorite matcha place in Brooklyn! Nothing better than fresh made almond milk. Lovely people work here, and you're in and out quickly. Highly recommend checking out when you're in Greenpoint!

Small coffee shop in greenpoint. A nice place to stop by quickly to grab your drink. They don't have a seating area, but there is a window ledge where you can stand and sip if you'd like. I had ordered a latte, and found it to be just right. The coffee to milk portions were perfect and the temperature of the drink was just enough to start drinking right away without scalding your mouth. They have some lavender syrup available to purchase which I thought was interesting! I would have to come back to purchase some for myself.

What the absolute... I took TWO SMALL SIPS before taking the lid off of my large matte latte and this is how much he put inside?! Are you kidding me. When I grabbed the cup from him, I felt it was too light, but I was in a rush, and now I regret not opening it up in front of him. And I tipped him too... And this is why I will go back to supporting Starbucks instead of this small business.

Good, fresh, strong drip coffee can be difficult to find in any neighborhood , glad to have tried this place. Will be back

Upright Coffee NY BK Greenpoint 2pm Saturday 29th September 2018 Four Stars It is a small coffee shop that roasts and brews their own coffee. I had small cold brew $3.5 on this warm fall day. It was clear, very smooth blend with low acid and a nice flavor. There are only 2 bar stools by a small window counter.

Best coffee shop I've been to. Our drinks were made with lots of care and Eric was incredibly nice. Thank you, Eric! Will definitely come back!

Ordered a rose latte... it was literally an inch of rose flavoring in a cup of ice and the rest was plain oat milk . No coffee, no frothed milk. A caffeine free frothed milk free drink is not a latte. Tasted so overpowering of rose I threw it out after 1 sip. Worst 7$ drink I've ever purchased.

In the heart of Greenpoint, Brooklyn Lovely mini cafe, quiet and peaceful. Chill and laidback music. Grab and go type café. Two seats inside and bench on outside. I have the cappuccino with oat milk They have non-animal milk options which is perfect! The staff are friendly and very curtíos.

I am on a Lavender Latte craze lately! After an early brunch date nearby, my companion and I decide to take a stroll in Greenpoint since we are rarely here, if at all. A chalkboard sign with "French Lavender Latte" shouted for my name. How did you guess that's what I am craving for? I went straight in and ordered a cup. It had a small leaf latte art and color was light brown. The aroma was floral, of course. Every sip was lavender-floral forward then comes the espresso. A very enjoyable cup of coffee for an afternoon walk.

Only 2 seats by the window, no other seating - it's a super small, to go coffee shop -not a place to hangout with your laptop and use the Wifi place. Something I saw that pulled me in was the lavender latte. Strange, but pretty good, not too strong, just subtly blended into the foam that is compliments the coffee, it almost taste chai like... maybe it was, but I thought it was pretty unique.

Love this cute little place. What a great use of a super small space. Baristas are super friendly and the iced latte was as expected.

I love trying new coffee spots but this one made me want to run back to something predictable. I got a small mocha with almond milk and it came out to $6. The price listed was $4.50 so that must mean almond milk is $1.50. That alone threw me off because never have I ever paid more than 75 cents for a vegan substitute. At this point I knew that odds are, I wouldn't be returning due to the price. I was still *open* to coming back though, if the coffee's quality lived up to the price. To say the least, I was disappointed. The coffee was watered down and had little flavor. The only props I give is that it was frothy. Again, like.... who charges $1.50 for almond milk?

The Iced and Hot Lavender Latte is amazing and coffee heaven. One of the best coffee drinks I've had in NYC.

I have to say this was hands down the best cappuccino I've had in a really long time. At first I was upset with the size but once I started drinking it I was extremely happy will definitely be returning

Meh. Today was my first time here. This place was just ok. I got the lavender latte (with almond milk) per everyone's rec. Doesn't taste lavender-y at all. And my mouth is starting to feel weird - like an allergic reaction or irritation. Walked in and was barely greeted. One barista was eating behind the bar. One was holding their money. The latter didn't wash their hands after handling money & before making my drink. The sanitary level here def didn't make me comfortable. The service was attentive though not super-friendly. Next time I'll just stick to my plan of trying out Homecoming.

Had to try the Lavender latte & I asked to make it with mocha & it was divine! My sisters also got Lavender lattes and they loved it. This place is small, they have 3 bar stools which were occupied when we got there but the customers (really nice) were finishing up and it was perfect for us! We hung out for a bit & being our loud selves, even singing to the music!-hey it was karaoke songs playing & we are Filipino! Jahahaha Anyways, the girl was really nice & laid back, very accommodating. We also order the spinach quish & cheese croissant, both fresh & good. I'll be back when I'm in NY but my Fam will be their soon!

I was sweating and was in dire need of a pick-me-up. Upright Coffee was just what the doctor ordered. I wish I had read the Yelp reviews before entering, because, based on all the positive reviews, I would have ordered the lavender latte. However, I was quite happy with the cold brew coffee that I had. The place is small, but cozy and comfortable, especially with the A/C running. The woman working at the counter was very friendly and nice. After about 15 minutes, I was ready to take on the sweltering streets of Brooklyn again. I definitely plan on stopping by again and trying out the lavender latte. If you happen to be in Greenpoint and want to take a short break, or to pick up a quick cup of coffee on your journey, I'd definitely recommend checking this place out!

Everytime I come to this place, I instantly regret it. Employees have attitude. Coffee is so so.

Small but mighty coffee shop right in the heart of Manhattan Ave. Pretty no-frills place that has all your typical coffee options. Girl at the counter was the nicest. Cold brew was delicious.

Actually had a decent cup of Chai tea here. I don't drink coffee but I wanted to try the lavender flavor so i asked for a bit o'that in my tea. I can't recall it being a "strong" flavor, but it was interesting. These days I am really starting to like the "non starbucks" made Chai tea. Sadly this place is not close to home or a place where I pass in any type of frequency. Store itself is small. Since I was early for work, I thought it was a real cafe where I can sit. But no.

Quaint little coffee shop. Servers were nice and social and the coffee was not that bad. I was looking for a place to read my book after running some errands. Honestly this is not that bad of a place to take a seat and read. The only issue is that the place is small. Only two bar stool type seats in the inside and a small bench that fits two on the outside. It's a good place to people watch a bit. The banks are a few steps down the block (South East-ish from Upright) so you get to see people walking from both sides probably running errands. I love a little sound while I am reading and this place has the perfect amount of sound probably because of its size. I'll definitely be coming back here whenever I run some errands to pop a squat and read or just want some brew. They even have a copy of the New York Times for people wanting to wind down.

Just giving my two cents here.. Yes, upright Coffee, without a doubt you do churn out some great espresso. Absolute 4 stars for the coffee. My problem with them, is the price they are charging in this neighborhood. I personally feel that they're making a pretty steep profit margin out of the local residents. Reasons: 1) This is Greenpoint, up and coming I know, but rent cant be that high ( esp. with this tiny store) and they are clearly charging Park Slope Prices. I like my 5 dollar grilled chicken on ciabatta sandwiches down at The Garden and 6 dollar Chicken Piccata lunch specials. This is why I like eating in Greenpoint. Everything is so reasonable priced. 2) They accept Cash only ( Common practice in Brooklyn if you know what I mean ) 3) They have the tiniest store front providing maybe only a few stools and counters. No space to chill out, hang out w your laptops. Without the seating why are you charging so much? I frequent quite a few coffee shops across Brooklyn( Mostly Wburg, Park Slope, Bushwick, Cobble Hill). If you're gonna charge 3.75 for a single shot Latte you should at least provide a comfortable seating area for people to spend time at. Just felt like I was getting a little ripped off here.

I run by this place pretty much every day and wanted to check it out. It is always busy in the morning and the coffee smell is very inviting, plus the space looks very cute. They advertise their Jasmine Vanilla latte on the board and I always wanted to try it. However, i didn't because I learned that it is made with simple syrup and they couldn't remove it. I just got a regular coffee ($2 small). Milkwise, they have almond milk made in the house, it costs extra but it is so much better than pre-packaged alternative. I don't think their milk is organic and I didn't have any. Finally, I lost one star for them because they didn't have stevia or at least truvia. They did have other artificial sweeteners which should be banned for ever!

Love their matcha, also love that they keep a non dairy milk at the condiment bar. Small cafe but they make amazing coffee

Cute little coffee shop positioned on a busy street. I had the cold brew and it hit the spot. My friend ordered the lavender latter, which was something different and new, she did say it was delicious so I'll have to order that the next time I'm around the neighborhood. Also, don't forget to check out the laundromat next door! Nice hidden gem!

I ordered the lavender iced latte and my boyfriend ordered the vanilla iced latte. Both were amazing! They were some of the best lattes I've had in a while. It is a little on the pricier side but definitely worth it!

On the pricey side, but well worth it! I got an iced vanilla latte and it was amazing, however a little bit too sweet. The lavender latte was also very good.

Been meaning to stop in to this place for a while and am so glad I did. Upright Coffee is a teeny little shop that you could miss in a blink if you're walking too fast, so don't blink! I followed in another reviewer's footsteps and got an almond milk chai latte and it was the perfect savory drink for a chilly autumn day. They have assorted treats like homemade granola bars, doughnuts and cookies too. Note: this is not a "hang out here" coffee shop unless you want to sit at one of the two total seats in the window or park yourself on the bench outside and people watch along Manhattan. Cute place, great coffee, I'll be back!

Really good coffee and TOP almond croissants. Relatively little attitude (but SOMEtimes SOME) ... I think the quality of their offerings speak for themselves and do not require any additional acts ... 2021 has just been declared the year of NO attitude! How cooool is that????

Was intrigued by the fact that they make their own almond milk, came in on a weekend afternoon. It's a small space featuring a decent menu and pastries (although all they had when we were there was plain croissants). The guy behind the counter could have cared less, I'm pretty sure he just gave me hot almond milk instead of chai. My friend however loved his coffee- so I'm not sure. I'd probably like to try it again, but I won't be rushing back.

This is such a cute little shop! While there is very limited seating (two bar stools facing the street), it has a welcoming atmosphere and our barista was very friendly. We ordered both the vanilla and lavender iced lates. If you like lavender, I would highly recommend giving it a try! Subtle, but refreshing. Apparently they have another location in Manhattan that has a good pulled pork sandwich.

On a sunny day my dear lover and I decided to explore the mysterious grounds of Brooklyn. Our main goal: visit Upright Coffee. Their location is in a busy street and what I noticed as soon as we walked in is that the people buying were mostly locals. They knew the barista by name and would even stay and chat with him for a while. What a great neighborhood! My lover ordered a lavender latte and she explained to me how the lavender taste was very strong and not so sweet, which for her it is perfect. She tried the lavender latte in Bibble & Sips but she said that one was sweeter and less of a lavender taste. Could it be because Upright Coffee lavender is homemade!? Who knows! I ordered my usual: Espresso. The espresso was indeed not as sour as most espressos I have. Which is not bad, it is actually a nice break from all the sourness and darkness that American style espresso is known for. The barista gave us small cookies to have with our coffees, which were so soft! They are not expensive and very soft and nice. I highly recommend! Thank you for providing us of such a great time!

Do you need to wake up? The place to do that is Upright Coffee. Delicious, Tasty, Warm, Flavorful Coffee. The staff is always very nice and friendly. The place opens at 7AM if I'm not mistaken, they also have a stamp card which is great and even if you forget your card they can combine them for you! I love getting that free couple of coffee.. Makes my morning that much better! They have an amazing lavender latte-- it is pure heaven!! I get it with an extra shot of espresso since I'm a caffeine fanatic!! It's a must try. They also have these great bars by the register.. I think it's made by Rabbit something and I love the Fig one! They also have amazing pastries.. The croissant is delicious. I must try if you're in the area!

I literally used to live right across the street from this place. It's amazing! The only downfall is that it is a very tiny space, so since it's so good, it can get fairly crowded. I absolutely love the lavender latte. I prefer mine iced. Also, the blueberry muffin is great too. I want to try the other pastries every time I go in, but I always just get my iced lavender latte and go about my day. If you go in there at just the right time, say for example Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. you can typically have the quaint place to yourself.

Solid coffee in Greenpoint. Had an iced lavender latte, which is not my usual coffee drink, but it was really great. Also tried the iced coffee, and it had a really unique sweetness. I'm not exactly sure how to describe that sweetness, but it was pleasant, whatever it was. Give it a try and help me understand. Baked goods also looked really appetizing, though I didn't let myself try any of them. Very small space, but a really convenient place to stop for quick coffee.

Everytime I go in there they are super friendly, I go at weird times, so it is usually not too busy. GET THE LAVENDAR LATTE. I was shocked by how much I loved it & tell all my friends they have to get it as well!

I live right next to Budin and come to Upright every morning for my coffee. Friendly baristas, good coffee, and a loyalty stamp card. Boyfriend gets an ice cortado, I get a soy latte. Best coffee in the neighborhood!

I wish I could have sat down, No seats in the place. Upright's not just the shop name, It's a lifestyle, in your face. You wish some seating was available But that's all wrong. I've stopped by this shop for many times around 7~7:30pm, which it should be open, unfortunately, it wasn't!! So I've missed it at least 4 times... Upright Coffee uses beans from Brooklyn Roasting Company. Getting 1 pound beans will come with a free any drink. The female barista is so stylish with amazing tattoos, it makes me feel like having another one on my arm! The espresso drink is great enough to make another visit.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!! Came in early Saturday morning as this place was recommended by a friend. The person serving us, who was clearly agitated, hated his/her job (its a transgender person so not sure which gender to use). First, got our order wrong (simple black coffee, large). Secondly, he/she made 3 coffees for people Before us. When I asked why other people are getting their orders first - the person snapped at us and said "you're just going to have to wait!!" Then continued making other orders. When I asked why he/she is being so rude, he/she went off saying "you are Not in your living room! And if you don't know how to behave then don't come back!" No worries- we won't!! Honestly ruined the morning Oh, and our coffee was 70% water
