Just to be clear this review is for the upstairs bar at Flint. I could not believe this "bar" is associated with the restaurant downstairs. They are night and day when it comes to service and quality of drinks. The drinks at the upstairs bar are terrible, awful. So disappointing because the place itself is aesthetically pretty cool. My husband ordered a gin drink and i ordered and old fashioned. Now, anyone that knows anything about cocktails knows how to make and old fashioned, it's pretty simple. But I don't know an old fashioned could taste this bad. It tasted like sugar water, that's it. I got the "speciality" one off the cocktail menu and it was pure sugar. I hate sending back drinks so I hesitated on saying anything but I just could not drink it! I finally said something and the bartender asked if I just wanted a "regular" old fashioned. She made me a new one and and same thing, sugar water. You can't taste anything, not the bourbon, not anything. It really just tasted like a glass of sugar water with a bunch of ice. Even the color, it was like a light yellow color. I think part of the problem is that they use simple syrup?? instead of an actual sugar cube? I could not drink it, I just left it there when we left. My husband's drink was also extremely sweet. To top it off, the service (or lack there of) was awful too, there was no service. We were greeted, asked for our drink order, given our drinks and that's it. There were three bartenders and nobody said a single word to us the whole time we were there, not even to ask how our drinks were or anything. And it was not busy at all. One bartender was practically texting the whole time. Very sad because there aren't many rooftop bars around the area so it would have been a cool new place to hang. The concept is really cool but to be a hit they really need to change their bartenders, or teach them about service and how to make a good drink, please. Pretty basic things a bar should have. If you want a good drink and actual service go downstairs to the restaurant.
