Miami’s Newest Restaurant Openings in May 2025 | Eater Miami

"Chef Nuno Grullon opened his taco shop during the height of the pandemic and, despite enormous odds, the Mimo taqueria succeeded with people waiting in line for an order of tacos and a margarita. In 2023, Grullon’s tacos received national acclaim when Good Morning America pronounced it “the ultimate taco spot” after conducting an exhaustive search. The concept has just added a second location in Hallandale, offering tacos, tequila, and a live DJ on weekends." - Laine Doss

Where do I even begin with this place? I’ve always loved the original location, but this new spot is an absolute must-visit! The full bar and beautiful atmosphere take it to the next level. 10/10!!! the spicy marg was incredible! Per usual the food is top-tier, the birria tacos are my personal favorite! Everyone there is always warm, friendly, and welcoming. Highly recommend!

My husband and I have discovered a true gem in Uptown 66 where the exceptional quality of food and drinks has drawn us in time and time again. I highly recommend trying the Uptown nachos and barbacoa tacos, perfectly paired with a revitalizing Spicy Passion Fruit Margarita. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a great selection of music, and the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making everyone feel right at home.

Google
The place is great! Spacious and comfortable, very beautiful too. The service was nice, drinks and foods came fast and all employees were very friendly plus they have happy hour prices Monday to Friday. The mango margaritas are always perfect, it was my first time at this location but it tasted the same as the other location with the plus of being beautifully presented. The food is very very good, I still feel a slight difference from the other location that tbh idk what is, but it’s very very well seasoned and perfectly yummy! I am happy that this location is placed on a plaza with parking, ac and a lot of comfort because that’s the only thing about the other location that is a little uncomfortable sometimes. Wish you guys a lot of prosperity! Ps: I forgot to take a pic but we had the birria tacos, elote and steak burrito, go for it! You won’t regret.

Google
This is a low-key gem. Went during weekday happy hour on a Thursday & it was quiet with hardly anyone in there. The vibes are immaculate, night lighting & trendy decor. 2 big tv’s on the wall for sports. Our waitress was on point & knew everything we needed to know about the menu. Food was so delicious & drinks are strong & hand crafted. We def will be visiting often.

Alejandro C.

Google
Food was ok, we ordered steak nachos, very little steak by the way. I asked for 2 Margaritas, drinks were too strong we couldn’t even enjoy them. Server never offered utensils and plates were dirty. She never asked to take the plates away. Tip must be given at the end, Place is nice, but those little details count.

Google
I don’t even know where to start. The customer service for one is consistently top tier. They anticipate your needs and deliver impeccable service. I can’t get enough of the nachos and elote. Heck, everything is just delicious. I’ve yet to have something that I don’t love. Their mango margarita was giving “I need another one”. Chareenah was our waitress and she was lovely. I want the house to be full because they deserve the service, but I selfishly don’t want to come here and have to wait. The food was so good, I forgot to take a picture. You won’t be disappointed.

Google
I don’t know why this place isn’t crowded!! They have a Miami location but we went to the one in Hallandale. We were seated immediately. I ordered the chicken nachos, elote and birria tacos! It was so good I forgot to take pics. Our waitress Chareenah was so nice and attentive. Y’all ask for her by name.

Google
I was a little sad to see Burgers and Brews closed but wow! I love Mexican food and this place is straight up delicious. I was lured in by the Barria but wound up getting the happy hour oysters a passionfruit margarita and the tacos al Pastor. Everything was delicious. The tortillas are hand made and the meat is succulent. The oysters were fresh and had a nice kicky sauce that accompanied them. I’ll be back again and again.

Yelp
Uptown has done it again!!! The new location is spacious, stylish, and an instant vibe upgrade. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by a truly exceptional team that sets the tone for the whole experience. If you're in the mood for a lively scene, the full bar has sports playing across the wall and an energy that pulls you right in. Walk a bit further and the ambiance shifts into a more refined casual dining space. I kicked things off with the flamed charred oysters and wow... absolute perfection. Smoky, rich, and easily some of the best I've had in South Florida. Then came the Mole and let me say, it's better than any mole I've had anywhere in South Florida. Deep, layered, and beautifully balanced with a hint of spice. Honestly, no need to hop on a plane to Mexico when I can just drive to Hallandale. Uptown isn't just raising the bar for South Florida dining. They took the bar, melted it down, and forged an entirely new standard. If you live within 100 miles of Hallandale and you don't eat here soon, that's a personal choice I can't respect.

Yelp
We stopped by Uptown 66 on our way home from the mall and shared a bunch of dishes, and everything was delicious. We started with the chips and salsa and the elote, the salsa had so much flavor and the tortilla chips were fresh and warm. The elote was really good too and wasn't overly covered in the chipotle mayo sauce, which I appreciated. For our main dishes, we shared the birria tacos (so flavorful and filling) and a chicken burrito, subbing the potatoes for rice. Definitely enough food to share, and the prices were really reasonable for the amount of food you get. Everyone working there was super friendly as well. Overall, a great stop we'll definitely be back!

Yelp
My wife and I were looking forward to eating here but ended up disappointed by the small portions and limited menu. Before ordering, I asked our waitress--who seemed to be the only one working the tables--about the size of the entrées and appetizers, but she couldn't really answer. Not sure if it was a language barrier, but it wasn't very helpful. I ordered a chicken taco and a barbacoa taco. The chicken taco needed more flavor, though the barbacoa taco was quite tasty. The octopus appetizer was good as well. At one point, I asked for salt and was told they didn't have any, which was surprising. My wife had the beef burrito and thought it was okay. Our bill came to around $60, which felt a bit high for what we received. Overall, between the portion sizes, pricing, and limited menu, I don't think I'll be returning.

Yelp
Absolutely positively outstanding! I had the Birria tacos, elote, a dozen oysters for $1 each and two spicy passion fruit margaritas. They have happy hour from 4-7 PM seven days a week. Birria tacos $4, elote $5, half price margaritas $7. I couldn't be any happier. Chareenah was my server. She greeted me with a smile and welcomed me like family. I highly recommend this restaurant. I will be back.

Yelp
First time at their Hallandale location. It was fantastic! Indoor and outdoor seating and a well placed bar. It was overall casual and spacious. Service was laid back as in the Miami location. I think they had some technical issues today with the PoS that had them a little distracted. The flavors here are amazing. I enjoyed the latter sauces, and flavorful oysters albeit small. The pork Al pastor and mushroom/pear hongos tacos were exceptional. Definitely would come back and recommend.

Yelp
I have to start this off by saying that I have never liked burritos in my life, but once my boyfriend took me to uptown 66 everything changed. I love their burritos and I can't wait to try the rest of the menu, the service is always very friendly and attentive, and I would also like to point out that the aesthetic of the place is beautiful. It's a really nice place over all I definitely recommend, that is why I have brought almost everyone I know to this place and to this day I haven't heard any complaints only compliments!

Yelp
I saw this on Facebook and I decided to give it a try for lunch. It's in a great location Hallandale Beach Boulevard and Atlantic Shores. There is plenty of free parking available there is also paid parking on the street side. The atmosphere for lunch time was very quiet and the music was just calming. My server was Sanih. She was very pleasant very personable and always smiling willing to assist whatever you needed, very friendly. The food was awesome the chips and guacamole home made very tasty. And the shrimp quesadilla made with love. It was so big and so full of shrimp that I can only half of it. This is a dish you can share. I will definitely recommend this place. Ask for Sanih.

Yelp
Nice little Mexican place I read about in Hallandale by the old dog track. Really nice place you order and then sit down and they bring you the food. Quality of the food was good and portions were decent. We ordered several different kinds of tacos as well as an excellent guacamole and chips. For dessert we had the churro and it was also fresh hot and excellent. Definitely recommend recommended

Jeff J.

Yelp
Been to the one in Miami before, and seeing that the tacos are very hyped it is justified. On this trip I got the chicken burrito which was a pleasant surprise. The tots in the burrito was crunchy and soft. The chicken was well marinated and season. The chips was freshly made and good. Service was also great, the cashier was patient and explained things for us on the menu. The Ambiance was chill and relaxed we seen a little bit of the game when we sat down. So the overall vibes was a great experience.

Yelp
I've had uptown 66 in my list of restaurants i want to try for a while but never got myself to drive south for it! So when they opened their second location just less than 5 minutes away from me I had to go. The birria tacos are delicious and the perfect portion! The steak burrito has hash brown instead of rice, whoever came up that needs a raise. The guacamole is also a staple and nice to have on the table to put over the tacos! The elote is boiled and is probably the only thing i wouldn't order again. its good but i get so bummed out when its not grilled as it makes a huge difference. Overall Im happy its so close and have been twice in less than a week- seems like its consistently good! Cant wait to keep coming back and enjoying their happy hour.

Yelp
This place had very appetizing plates. We ordered the Wagyu burger and it was amazing. Skirt steak was cooked to perfection. Iberia taco was mouth watering. But I must say the music playlist was on point. Really good mix of hip hop, Latin, and Pop. Whoever's playlist this is entertained our family of 6. It made us stay longer and order more. We realized it after we left. Regardless, I loved this place. The staff was great.

Yelp
I can't believe it took me so long to visit but I am so grateful I finally made it and so close to me. new to Hallandale comes Uptown66 bringing some of the best Mexican food to Hallandale. My favorite was easily the steak burrito with their amazing potatoes and Guac. Their prices are super fair. Plus they obviously have great tacos, we had the chicken, birria and barbacoa. I'll be thinking about it for days. But you really can't go wrong. pS they have a DJ that visits on some fridays.

Yelp
In typical millennial fashion, I found this place on Instagram. When I heard that they had the best various tacos in the country, I had to give it a try for myself. And let me just say they did not disappoint. The birria tacos were flavorful, and the meat was so tender. It practically melted in your mouth. The spicy passionfruit margarita was divine. I was not a fan of the guacamole though. It lacked flavor and it was a bit too smooth in texture for my liking, but that could just be personal preference as I prefer my guacamole chunky. Overall, I I was very pleased with my experience and I was definitely come back for another round of birria tacos.

Yelp
I randomly stopped by this place because it was one of the only places still open at the time and boy what a find! All the food was so good. Calamari was well seasoned and perfectly cooked, the burrito was one of the best I've had (which says a lot considering i'm from California) with lots if meat and delicious flavor and the churros were some of the best churro I've ever had with such a decadent chocolate -- it reminded me of Spanish style churros with hot chocolate. It was so good, I went back two days in a row! The following night I tried the tiger shrimp super tender and excellently flavored and the quesabirria tacos. Every thing we got was so good nothing less than 4/5 stars. I also got drinks and the margs were also so good, they also have frosés and other yummy cocktails. The staff was also super nice and food came out quick and the vibes and music were so good in there, it makes for a perfect date night!

Yelp
Just prepare to be WOWED First time pop-in for a margarita; first greeting was a beautiful smile & welcome...have you tried our "margaritas?" She asked us. So friendly & welcoming. Order at front counter & they deliver. Easy-peasy. Then she mentioned mushroom tacos . Everything was homemade and delicious. We will definitely come back for the full menu experience. Happy hour 3-7pm $7 Beer & Margaritas $1 Oysters $4 Tacos $5 Chips & Salsa Owner in the kitchen comes out to greet guests. We will be back.

Yelp
This place is no joke... everything was SO good. These Birria tacos were outstanding. The spicy passions fruit margarita was amazing and the chicken nachos were also so tasty! I am normally not a huge fan of queso on my nachos, but this type of queso was so good and the perfect consistency. We got 2 orders of the Birria tacos (which are 2 for each order), 2 chicken tacos, the chicken nachos, and an order of chips and guac. Everything was so outstanding. This place needs to stay here because now we finally have an authentic and overall amazing Mexican restaurant in the area. We will be back very very soon!!!

Yelp
The food was good. Service was great. Julieta gave great recommendations and they even had a good DJ playing music. Was able to sit outside and enjoy.

Yelp
Went there for dinner with my husband and we really enjoyed the food. Everything we ordered was delicious. The quality of food is the same as the original Miami location. The staff was very nice and attentive. I especially recommend the elote and the guac. I am hoping to come back and try their happy hour drinks. The only thing that you have to keep in mind is that this place is a bit pricey but the food was a 10/10 so it's worth it

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place because I love the Miami location. Hands down the best taco spot in the city. But the Uptown 66 in Hallandale just doesn't compare. I'm not even sure if it's under the same ownership. The quality of the food was way off. If this had been my first experience with Uptown 66, I honestly wouldn't come back. I'm definitely never coming back to this location. At the Miami location, the birria tacos are always hot, flavorful, and come with that satisfying cheese pull. The ones I got here were bland, lukewarm, and disappointing. I also ordered a burrito, and it was noticeably smaller than the Miami one. The steak pieces were tiny, and the potatoes were soft and mushy, which made the whole thing one note. In Miami, the burritos are bigger, the steak chunks are generous, and the potatoes are crispy everything just hits better there. Not sure if the smaller portions are due to summer or something else, but this location feels like it's hurting the Uptown 66 name. I gave it three stars only because of how much I love the original spot. Should've been a one star review. Staff was friendly and drinks were solid, but unfortunately, the food didn't hold up.

Yelp
Glad they moved to the neighborhood! Delicious and generous portions - will become a go-to for Mexican food:)
google avatar

William J.

Yelp
The food here is pretty good and the staff is friendly enough, but they couldn't even answer simple questions about the menu. This place has potential, if they shape up a little bit. They do serve alcohol, but the beer selection is limited. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again, but if I'm in the neighborhood, I would eat here again.
google avatar

Sandra V.

Yelp
Went to check out this place, very very pricey small taco, now the burrito was good and big. Drinks okay in price just not much variety for my taste. Service needs to be better young ladies just on their personal phones and just the chatting amongst themselves. Owners were in the restaurant sitting out door area just drinking. It could be better

Yelp
Recently stopped into Uptown 66 in Hallandale's Atlantic Village -- it's in the old Blues Brothers location. It happened to be their opening day when I went, and I wasn't mad at it! I had the shrimp nachos, which had a generous amount of shrimp, and two barbacoa tacos that were packed with flavor. For dessert, I tried the churros. I'm not a big chocolate fan, but the waitress recommended the chocolate dipping sauce, and I actually really enjoyed it. Prices are reasonable, and the staff was very attentive. The music inside was a little loud for my taste, so I sat outside, which was perfect. Overall, one of the best authentic tacos I've had -- I'll definitely be returning!

Wade G.

Yelp
The food was delicious. The place inside was decorated very cute and it was really clean with nice furniture. Wait staff was friendly and owner came over and said hello.

Yelp
Good tacos (even though the lady was coughing on them as she made them), below average oysters (I'd rather pay $3 for good ones) Service beyond below... ask for Ralph though, he like to massages waitresses (maybe that's why they don't care though) so maybe you can get a cheap shoulder rub

Yelp
Loved Uptown 66! Great vibes, delicious food, and super friendly service. One of my new favorite spots--definitely worth a visit!

Philip H.

Yelp
I've been there a couple of times. Their happy hour, which runs Monday through Friday 4 - 7 PM. Invites you to try their award-winning tacos and fresh Sweet neck oysters for $4 and $1 each, I tried coconut shrimp, appetizer, which is on this world, Also the fresh homemade guacamole, salsa and hot crispy chips are delicious, The uptown 66 staff in Hallandale was attentive and offered great suggestions on their varied taco menu. Sitting at the bar, they iced my beer glass before pouring a tasty beer and the margaritas are made with homemade juice. Ask for other options other than salt for the rims of the glasses. Owner, chef Nuno, is currently tweaking the menu with new options. I'm excited to see what he has in store.

Yelp
Best street tacos ever! Very welcoming and super fresh! We had a little of everything and 5 stars all across the board! Cute and clean ambiance, very chill!

Charly R.

Yelp
Very good tacos and birrias! Service usually quick, it's a small taco stand with plenty of seating on the side of a big road - very authentic. Highly recommend for the tacos and birrias, we've been here many times.

jeff r.

Yelp
What a great find here locally in Hallandale the food is excellent. The prices are reasonable. It is quick easy clean and nice.

Yelp
The tacos were amazing and the margaritas were delicious. Great food for reasonable price!

Karen R.

Yelp
Yummy tacos . Cool trendy drinks. The oysters are amazing and lastly ..... don't forget the guacamole . Its the best!!!!!

Юрий К.

Yelp
portions are smaller than usual, staff is not friendly, everything is very slow, atmosphere is like in a cheap establishment

Jessie G.

Yelp
love their new location in Hallandale beach - such a cool spot to chill by the beach for tacos & their cocktails are superb! love the nachos and dessert is really good too! everyone is super nice and welcoming - overall laidback vibes with great food! make sure you check out their Miami spot too!
