Ted's Bulletin, located in Gaithersburg, MD, is where I meet my clients regularly. Uptown Bakers Bagels is a must-have when visiting this establishment and during every meeting. However, during one of my meetings, my client and I were bragging about how tasty the Bagels were when a gentleman seated in the adjacent booth informed us that he was the one who delivered the delicious treats. Still, we knew the monotone in his voice indicated he wasn't happy about his delivery job. So, upon inquiring, he stated that the pay was decent but could be better considering the amount of driving and manual labor. Upper management at Uptown Bakers doesn't keep their word with the employees and appears to be consistently months late issuing bonuses quarterly. Immediately, I felt appalled and put the bagel down as he explained that his child was due to have surgery and the bonuses would help pay his copay. This company needs to do better.

Never purchased from them directly, but a local restaurant in Purcellville VA uses their brioche style buns on a burger. Totally amazing. Best sandwich bun I've ever eaten!!

My family only eats bread that is sourced from Uptown Bakers. We especially love the multigrain bread, sourdough bread, rustic bread, ciabatta rolls, and the French baguettes. Their pastries are unreal - the cheese danish is my absolute favorite. The croissants and chocolate twisted croissants are melt-in-your-mouth delicious.

Unimpressive. Not any better than store bought. Surprisingly bland. My wife and I purchased several different items and all were mediocre at best.

Just to be clear, they do not sell to the public. There is no bake shop. This location is just offices. It's a shame though as I can smell the bread for the next two blocks.

Yelp
I get this bread every weekend at the 32nd Street Farmers Market. I literally told them that I had been waiting since last winter to come and get more of their bread. Got rye, sourdough and brioche burger buns. I am not lying when I say this is my absolute splurge ALWAYS. Never disappoints! Not sure what Risa's problem is as they are at the Farmers Market literally every weekend.

Yelp
The gentleman who owns this business Didier Rosada is a true gentleman. Very kind welcoming and friendly. In addition the bread he makes is phenomenally out of this world. You can't get better French bread outside of France. Supplies the entire DMV area with this delicious stuff

Yelp
I get Uptown Bakers bread at the 32nd Street Farmer's Market in Baltimore and I have never been disappointed. Just really great breads. I mostly get sourdough and challah from them!

Yelp
Uptown Bakers actually moved from DC a few years back to the 'burbs of Maryland due to high rent and high taxes, but they're still "uptown"! They do specialize in catering and farmers markets with a great website to peruse. We find them every Sunday at the West End Farmers Market in Alexandria and *love* their artisan breads (they also do pastries, croissants, etc). You can tell they are crafted with a love for the art of baking and with high-quality, flavorful ingredients. We particularly love the multigrain -- it's perfect for toast and for sandwiches -- and the rye, which is bursting with caraway goodness. The other breads are wonderful, too, with crusty, chewy outsides and soft insides....mmmm. Love that the bread comes pre-sliced, too. Not many homemade, farm market breads do. I'm embarrassingly bad at cutting even slices. The woman who staffs the Sunday market booth is wonderfully warm and friendly, too. It's always a pleasure to make a stop here.

Yelp
This is not a retail store of bakery. It's wholesale only. Don't be fooled as I was as they no longer sell to the public.

Yelp
Love all of their breads, but I consistently buy raisin walnut and honey grain. Incredible prices--don't know how they do it. Bread for $3! Artisanal bread for $3! Unheard of!!!! Just amazing. Can't say enough positive about them.

Yelp
Best tea cakes and scones I've ever eaten. I used to visit the bakery at the old location and buy one of almost each goodie. I would love the scone recipe - the only thing I would attempt at home - so I could have a steady supply. Uptown Bakers is just the absolute best!

Yelp
They provided pastries for a coffee shop I worked at and I loved their assortment of muffins, cakes, croissants, bagels, donuts and various other pastries. YUM!

Yelp
Uptown does farmers markets, have not been to their DC location. The bakers are French, Jon Luc, is the head man. Met him Sunday at the new farmers market in Fairfax at North Street and Old Lee Highway. The baguets are crusty on the outside and soft in the middle, better than Wegmans, Paneros and the chains. We have have a shortage of independent bakers in the burbs so it is hard to get great bead with character. The croissants were flaky and buttery the way they are supposed to be as opposed to the bread like imitations you get every where else. My other favorite was the brioche. Wonderful rolls with a butter top. Certainly raises the bar on what to expect when looking for good baked goods. Looking forward to more fresh bread next weekend.
