Our 7-year-old German Shepherd has been attending Uptown Pup since she was 4 months old. We took her to several of Uptown’s training sessions when she was younger, and she stays there for boarding when we go out of town, in addition to consistent weekly day care. She has regular bath/grooming sessions there as well. As such, we have had the opportunity to get to know most of the Uptown Team throughout the years, from the day care staff to management to trainers, and they have been nothing but caring, supportive, knowledgable and accommodating. She is always clearly happy and excited to see them, no matter which staff member it is, when we drop her off. When our dog was younger we tried out a few other day care businesses to see what was out there, and Uptown Pup was the only place where we felt our dog was cared for and received an individual focus; each Uptown staffer truly cares about the dogs’ well-being and wants each one to flourish. Our dog has anxiety issues, particularly with loud noises such as thunderstorms and fireworks, and Uptown has consistently gone above and beyond to help her with this, including taking her aside from her group to relax and hang out during day care. During her boarding stays the staff has also paid extra attention to make sure she was comfortable. She also has a food allergy and a sensitive stomach, and the staff always remains cognizant of this and makes sure she avoids certain types of treats/foods when she’s there. These are just a few examples of the care that Uptown takes for clients. For anyone deciding whether to entrust Uptown Pup with their day care, boarding, training or grooming needs, this probably sums it up best: we wouldn’t just recommend Uptown Pup - we wouldn’t take our dog anywhere else BUT Uptown Pup.

We love Uptown Pup and so do our dogs! We use them for doggy day care, boarding, and grooming. The staff truly love our girls, communicate thoroughly, and even post some great pictures. When we show up for day care the dogs push each other out of the way to be the first out of the car. Highly recommend.

Uptown Pup is truly like a second family for my dog, PJ! From the moment we pull into the parking lot, PJ's tail starts wagging non-stop- she can't wait to get inside. Everyone greets her by name with genuine smiles and so much love. It's such a comfort knowing she's surrounded by people who truly care. Uptown Pup has been such a gift for us- they provide safe, personalized, and loving care for my sensitive pup. The owners and staff operate with such integrity, warmth and professionalism that I always feel completely at ease leaving PJ in their care. If you want your dog to be treated like family, Uptown Pup is the place! 🐾❤️

We had a great experience at this dog training studio! Teacher Jimmy was incredibly insightful, knowledgeable, and patient. He made the Foundations class truly beneficial for both us and our dog. Reggie has improved so much thanks to the techniques and guidance we learned throughout the course. We’re really happy with how far he’s come and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for quality dog training!

I’ve had such a great experience with Uptown Pup! The employees are all so nice and Greet my dog by her name every time we walk in. My dog loves this daycare so much that even when I moved farther away, I still keep bringing her here. I highly recommend!

I have been taking my pup to Uptown Pup for training and grooming desensitization. The staff and trainer, Katie, have been spectacular in dealing with my wild man 5 pd dog! They know how to treat dogs who are shy and wiggly!

We've done boarding and training at Uptown Pup and recommend it to everyone. We recently enrolled our dog into the daycare too, and she loves it--she gets SO excited when she realizes where she's headed in the morning. Highly recommend Uptown Pup!

We can’t say enough wonderful things about Uptown Pup! We’ve been bringing our dog, Kevin, here since he was just a puppy, and it has been the best decision. The staff is caring, professional, and truly loves every dog like their own. Daycare has helped our pup build confidence and social skills, and he looks forward to going every single week. It’s been over four years now, and he still gets excited the moment we pull into the parking lot.

Yelp
I'm sad to have to leave a not so great review for Uptown Pup. I had high hopes for this doggy daycare due to the great reviews. But something just wasn't clicking for me. I took my pup in for his first day. Upon entering and saying it was his first day they didn't really ask any questions just had me fill out a form (that I had already filled out online) and asked what time I would pick him up. The other daycare we've tried did an evaluation day and gave some more strict guidelines (drop off at 9 to ensure full staff is there, only took one new puppy a day to encourage socialization, started as 4hrs but would extend to full day depending on how they got along...) I had previously spoken to someone very kind and personable on the phone. This person was obviously not working the front desk when I came in. I dropped him off around 8am and around 11:15am got a call that he wasn't "interested in group play and kept showing stress signs". I found this extremely odd because my puppy is always a big fan of playing. With dogs of ALL sizes. He has gone to another doggy daycare and at the end of a full day he comes out so excited and then sleeps for hours because of how much he plays. I take him to a small group puppy training and he plays with all the other puppies the whole time. When I picked him up they spoke about how he just wanted to play with the trainer and cried when he left the area. I'm not dog training expert but I know that there are ways to help prevent this and manage it rather than just dismissing a 6 month old puppy that is still learning.I then believe instead of leaving him in with the other puppies to continue working on the socialization they just put him in a crate until I was able to pick him up. The vibe within the front desk area when I picked him up just didn't sit right with me. I look forward to taking him back to a daycare that I know he enjoys. Pro's: - Very clean, updated and modern establishment from what I am able to see in the front area. - Great location for those living in Broad Ripple - Good social media presence Con's: - Not willing to work with young puppies still learning - prices are a bit high - Not great on sharing information on their facility with new customers

Yelp
I just completed a group training class with my dog Milo at Uptown Pup. I can't speak highly enough of Jimmy Maxwell and his training for helping identify and reinforce behaviors that lead to good results. And he was great with my dog, too! Seriously, the best dog training, which this was, helps human owners recognize how to help dogs be their best selves without using coercive, painful or negative tactics. We learned stationing, calming techniques, and loose leash walking, which has been particularly beneficial for me since I am usually solo walking 2 medium-sized, but young and energetic dogs. I've also had private lessons with Jimmy on an urgent basis. He was very, very helpful to me to change specific behaviors that were problematic when encountering other dogs. Whether you have a new dog who needs to learn basic skills or a challenging pup requiring creative, positive training, Uptown Pup is the place to start.

Yelp
We are very disappointed with the service we received. We decided to try Uptown Pup for the first time and scheduled a full grooming appointment for our dog. Two days prior to her appointment, we got a call saying one of the groomers just quit so they would not be able to give her a full groom, but they could still give her a trim up. We were totally fine with that and kept her appointment. We dropped her off for her appointment and eight hours later received this email: "Your grooming appointment for {dog} at Uptown Pup is complete, and {dog} is ready for pick-up! If you'd like to pick up before the 4-7pm window, please call us at {phone} to let us know you're on your way. As always, thank you for letting us take care of your pup! All the best, The Uptown Pup Team" My husband went to pick her up and was surprised to see that she had not been groomed. The person at the front desk said our dog was too anxious and they couldn't groom her. They still charged us $50 for a trim. I understand if our dog was not cooperating (although she has been groomed every 3 months for the last 10 years and this has never been an issue); however, I am shocked that no one called to let us know there was an issue, the email we received gave no indication there was a problem, and we still had to pay $50. We will not be going back. Also, we were able to get her into a different groomer the next day and they had no problem grooming her.

Yelp
Hands down the folks here are the best! I board my dog here when I travel for work and due to unforeseen circumstances I was running late--they stayed so I could pick up my boy after hours! Thank you Uptown Pup team, you all are amazing people!!!!

Yelp
Fantastic training staff! Our puppy was shy and afraid to be around new people and/or dogs. After just three sessions he was already starting to show improvement and a willingness to engage with both. By the fourth session he was making new friends and playing with other dogs. The training was broken into easy to follow steps that seemed to work almost immediately and got even better with a little practice. Can't rate this place or it's people high enough!

Yelp
Gonna try not to get all sappy here but we are talking about my puppy so no guarantees (not already crying I promise). I was looking for puppy classes for my mini Aussie puppy because while she is so sweet she has some anxiety and fear barking and I wanted to learn what I can do to make her most comfortable and get her through this (and hopefully teach her to bark less). I had some personal scheduling conflicts with a lot of the classes I had looked at, and it was almost serendipitous how I found Uptown Pup's puppy manners class. It started the next day and I could somehow make all of the classes so I immediately signed up. We go for class and the second we step in the building Sadie is barking. This makes my anxiety rise because she won't stop and I know when most people hear a barking dog they think bad dog and/or bad owner. We're the first people there luckily and we go back to the classroom (large, clean garage with tons of space and dividers set up with chairs for each puppy and owner to cut down on distractions). Our teacher Sam is there and she IMMEDIATELY taps into Sadie's behavior and does what she can to help calm her. After the whole class arrived she first made an announcement about Sadie's barking that it's not mean or aggressive she's just afraid and that's how she's coping so to just ignore her and she'll stop. When she said that I could have CRIED. I was so thankful that someone understood my puppy and what was going on and the fact that she acknowledged it to everyone else and just let them know that it's no big deal it's just what she does almost brought me to tears and was just such a wave of relief over me. After that class was a breeze. The dividers let Sam tailor the class to what each puppy needed to work on because it gives you your own little space. Sadie stopped barking, started taking treats again, and Sam gave me tons of great advice and tips about when I should reward her and how to get her comfortable in new (scary) places. Sadie was acting like herself by the end! At the end of class we had some play time and all the puppies did great together with Sam teaching us what good and bad signs are for play and how to distract the dogs if things get a little out of hand. I am so excited for the rest of these classes, I feel much more confident in getting a handle on Sadie's barking and I am so thankful for Sam! I just wish I'd found out about Uptown Pup's classes early enough to get Sadie into the under 4 month class.

Yelp
Nowhere will you ever find a group of people who care so much for your dog. My dog Atlas has been going to Uptown Pup for 3 years now and I wouldn't trust him with anyone else on the days I work long hours. The entire Uptown team goes above and beyond to care for every dog that walks through their doors. An amazing group of people who deserve way more than a 5 star rating.

Yelp
Love this place! Clean, new and modern facility.. the lobby is really nice. The staff is wonderful and patient with my shy pup and his neurotic owner. Love getting their email update midday at work. They can fill up fast for holiday boarding so book in advance. Prices are reasonable and they've given me a discount for combining grooming and daycare services!

Yelp
Not the worst but not the best. Definitely not a fan of their boarding - unless you're ok with your pup getting a 2 minute "walk". Even when I brought this to their attention they tried to deny it - even though I had been watching my dogs from their webcam all day long. They do have a great groomer though - so would recommend for that.

Yelp
We boarded our dog at Uptown Pup for 2 nights and on the day we came home he all of a sudden started having stomach issues and it ended up costing up over $1,100 in vet bills to help him! They didn't seem too concerned about him as one of the big questions one of the owners asked my husband when we got to the vet we asked them to take our dog to was "did you call and make your additional payment?!" Like who says that when you know that my dog is sick and he was perfectly fine when we dropped him off with them!! We will NEVER be using them again and wouldn't recommend them to our enemy either!!

Yelp
We sent our little puppy furball Carmen to class with Ms. Katie for the last month. Katie did a phenomenal job training Carmen. We received an array of videos of Katie working with Carmen. These were great to be able to reference for our homework. Katie did a wonderful job communicating throughout the month long training. And any days we missed we were able to make up at the end. This was worth every penny. It really put Carmen on a path to long term success.

Yelp
This place is terrible proceeded to not tell people that where was a flu/ cold going on and give my dog kennel cough twice. They shouldn't have customers due to there lack of trust and honesty. I'm not sure how they don't know which dog had kennel cough but they need to send email out about if a dog is sick because now this is cost me money.

Yelp
I have a shihtzu...not the greatest cut... but definitely the most expensive! This place is super high priced (grooming was $100) for average work. Ive gotten better results with a $45 cut.
google avatar

Hannah G.

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place. It was super close by and clean. However, my dog always came home acting nervous and panting. I have since switched her to a different daycare and she comes out calm and tired. I've grown to think she was simply sitting in a crate at uptown pup. I have also had some not so great interactions with the staff. When you don't get a good vibe by the staff, it's very difficult to leave your baby there. I would recommend taking your dog to another daycare.

Yelp
Our one-year-old lab/coonhound mix Albie has been going to Uptown Pup since he was just a little guy. He loves doggie daycare there and although he's usually pretty skittish around people, he absolutely loves the staff at Uptown Pup! When we get there in the morning he's wagging his tail like crazy and can't wait to leave me. (He's usually crazy attached!). When we pick him up for the day, he's tired but happy. (At other places in town that we've been (Uptown Pup only allows dogs 2 days a week in daycare and he has a ton of energy), he sometimes comes out of daycare scared or manic, but Uptown Pup seems to feel like a second home to him.) We've also boarded him before for a couple of days and he seemed to have a great time. Five stars for Uptown Pup!

Yelp
Just picked my pup after a 16 night stay. She was happy to see me but ran back to to say goodbye to one of the staff that had cared for her. That says a lot to me. This is the second time I have left her with them. She comes home energetic and happy and healthy. The large suites you are able to see your dog 24/7. They respond to emails quickly. I really feel they will go to great lengths to make your dog have a pleasant stay.

Taylor T.

Yelp
I feel as though I'm being generous with two stars. I left my dog here on an overnight and it seemed like he did well- I used the suite with the camera so I could check in on him but the second overnight I boarded him I did not get the camera because he had done well. The first time they gave me a little report card and talked with me after about how he did. So this last time he stayed I picked him up the next day and the person that put him in my car did not say a word to me except that I still owed money and can they take it off my card. No reports or anything- which was fine at the time he looked okay, it was just weird. When I got home my dog dove out of my car and started scratching at the door and bee-lined for his bowl where he drank nearly 4 bowls of water. I immediately called them to cancel my next stay. They then told me my dog had been so anxious he had been panting and throwing himself at the wall of the kennel. They hadn't wanted to give him too much water which I understand but NO ONE thought to tell me my dog had been SO worked up he was throwing himself at the walls and was SO thirsty. I cancelled the stay I had already booked. I understand there is only so much they can do for an anxious dog however they didn't tell me about it until I called because I thought they just hadn't been giving my dog water. Just not acceptable, I'm not returning. The second star is only because the staff had been pretty nice and the facility is nice and I'm sure if your dog has no anxiety they'd be ok but I wanted to leave this here because I don't trust them with my pup anymore.
google avatar

Yelp
I was so caught off guard by how rude they were when I called for basic information that I will never take my dog here. The person who answered the phone actually chastised me for not calling a week in advance. Apparently they are in such high demand that they can't even be polite on the phone.
google avatar

Kasey V.

Yelp
My puppy ended up getting sick while she was there and they were so accommodating. They watched over her until I was able to get there and were so understanding when I needed to cancel further dates for a little while because she was sick. Thank you so much for having such a wonderful and fantastic staff. I will recommend to everyone I know and we can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Tried Uptown Pup because it had great reviews and it has a great location for me. I took my 4 month old pup there for the first time to try it out as an option for his socialization and was disappointed. As a first time client I didn't feel very informed as to what the place looked like, where my dog would be spending his time when he is playing versus not playing. As a person who loves dogs and cares about their environment, I expected to at least be shown the place and given and idea of what his day looked liked. When I picked him up he seemed too excited to leave and doesn't seem worn out from a good play at all. He gets more out of spending an hour or two at the dog park. The staff said he was very sweet but didn't give any other info as to if there were other dogs he got along with or how long his play times were. They immediately tried to sell me on puppy classes, which I understand, but I guess since I didn't feel valued as a new client it felt as if they were just selling their classes to me. I feel like I paid for a glorified babysitter for three hours. Probably will stick to our hang outs at the dog park for socialization and exercise! Maybe their other services are great, who knows. But definitely was uniformed and disappointed with the daycare experience, not really worth the money.

Yelp
The very best, hands down! The facility and amenities are great but what is best about this place is how loving they are to their four-legged guests! We have left our puppy with them for daycare/socialization as well as overnight boarding. They give our little guy so much love/care, check in regularly, are so gracious in answering our questions, and make us feel like our little guy is safe/happy during times where we are working late or have to leave town. Our little one is 3lbs so they make sure he has fun with his bigger furry friends and stays safe! Rates are fairly reasonable and they do not nickel and dime you! We are grateful to have found such a place!

Yelp
I really wish this place had worked out because it was such a convenient location, but in the end we had to move on. UpTown pup is one of those places that refuses to use adult words when talking about the services they offer or your dog in general, every time it's an exhausting and frustrating experience trying to decipher what they are trying to say from a small list of cutesy wutesy buzz words. They will sell you "credits" that they cannot accommodate because their facility is too small for their clientele. Imagine loading up 600$ of credits only to be told that they are booked solid for the next two weeks, that's an unfortunately common experience here. They not only offer daycare and grooming, but they unfortunately also have staffed trainers and training programs. They use the former to try to manipulate you into buying into the latter. Another exhausting and ridiculous thing you will have to deal with consistently. They will corner you when picking up your dog to try to convince you that they need their specific training program and they will straight up fabricate issues that your dog will never do anywhere else except, conveniently, in their facility.. but you're in luck! They can work with them during the daycare you're already paying for! If you deny or ignore this scheme, they will continuously harass you through various platforms until you leave to make room for someone else who might buy into it. The male trainer is particularly passive aggressive and as far as I can tell only wants easy couch potato dogs at their facility. We have a well trained dog who is a high energy breed. UpTown cannot accommodate a high energy dog, their rooms are too small. I'm only mentioning this because they will not show you how small their play rooms are unless you request to see, and they will not explain this to you like an adult. They will blame the dog over the facility every single time, because hey, maybe you'll buy into their training racket. My dog would come home tired every once in a while, but usually he came home with full energy and seemed particularly happy to get away from there. I have no proof so take this with a grain of salt, but I'm certain that most days they would just crate my dog. As a customer that's an extremely frustrating notion, I not only pay a premium so that my dog can enjoy their day but I expect them to be at least a little worn out at the end of the day. If I wanted my dog crated all day I can do it for free at home. If you live in SoBro and have a couch dog, this place may very well work out for you. I can definitely see the clientele they want to have, but again, they won't use adult words to convey that because they don't want to hurt your dogs feelings or something. We have since transitioned to another much larger facility close by and it's been nothing but a positive experience. Our dog is tired every single day, he's consistently spotted on their instagram having a blast with all of the other dogs in the big open playground. The staff has essentially debunked every "issue" that UpTown claimed our dog had. If you have a high energy breed I would suggest going elsewhere for both you and your dogs sake.

Yelp
My dog Wyatt loves coming here. The staff are friendly and they have plenty of activities for the dogs go do in daycare. I also like that they send you email updates and attach photos at the end of the day. Would highly recommend!

Yelp
Our puppy LOVES to play at daycare! The training classes are excellent! Jimmy is so patient and willing to talk through behaviors to support both human and pup. The entire staff is so friendly and welcoming.

Yelp
This place is great! I had previously been taking our large labradoodle to another daycare & boarding facility, and we never got any feedback on how his behavior was or really any updates at all. Uptown Pup is completely different and the staff there truly seem to care and take a much more personal approach. They asked many questions ahead of time, which let me know they are very focused on accommodating any type of dog, and then sent an email on the second day of his stay with a behavior update and 4 awesome pictures of our dog during playtime with other dogs. I believe they also have the option to upgrade to 24-hour webcam access if you're a particularly concerned puppy parent. Upon pickup, the staff member gave me more feedback and was also kind enough to discount his daycare for that day since it had been cut short. To top it off, the groomer did a great job and this is the first time we've seen our dog's coat so soft and clean, compared to multiple grooming experiences at other places. Price-wise, it seems to be in line with other facilities around central Indy, and in my opinion completely worth it. Would recommend to anyone and will be coming back again.

Phil S.

Yelp
Apparently staff meetings are more important than customers. I told them I would pick up my dogs between 10:30 and 11:am on Sunday, showed up at 10:30 and was rudely told to come back at 11, they were in the middle of a meeting. They apologized when I came back, but I do not see why I was rudely turned away at 10:30. I will not be going back there. There are too many kennels in town to put up with this kind of poor service.

Reagan G.

Yelp
My mom's dogs went to Uptown Pup while she went out of town. The dogs had an amazing time, my mom got photo updates every day of her dogs being extremely happy. For the first time her dogs didn't freak out with other dogs. The only problem was the high price, but over all she would take her dogs back there every time she goes out of town.
