"The BayHaven Restaurant Group reopened its breakfast cafe with abundant pops of color and a splashy design in Southend. The bar is a focal point and big seller, with mimosas for $5 on Fridays. The red pepper jam on the breakfast sandwich is a standout, and the jerk shrimp brings grits to a new level." - Kayleigh Ruller, Nikki Miller-Ka

This place was phenomenal! Such attentive service that we didn't even notice we'd waited 20mins for seating (no reservation! Lol) it was WORTH the Wait! The potatoes, the pancakes, the skillet... our party of 5 Chicagoans was not disappointed! I can not wait to go back, visit family and try another dish! And the ambiance was so engaging and bright. Tables of folks talking amongst themselves. Lovely.

Finally decided to give this place a try since it’s been taking over my social media and they did not disappoint. I was a walk in and sat at the bar. Grabbed a mimosa while waiting. Would recommend making a reservation if you don’t have time to waste. Chicken wings seasoned to perfection , waffle was fluffy , grits thick , and the mimosa did what it was suppose to do. Nice atmosphere and playlist was spot on. Will definitely come back!!

Google
Nice atmosphere, great service. We were seated quickly and they kept our water glasses topped off. Food is high quality. My mistake to forget to ask first low sodium, so the saltiness colored my review.

Stopped in for breakfast and had a great overall experience. The French Toast, Home Fries, and Pancakes were excellent. Very friendly and quick service. Definitely would describe it as simple breakfast dishes done really well. The one criticism we had was the price. Nearly $100 after tip for a simple breakfast for two would likely keep us from making this place a more regular visit as opposed to just an occasional treat.

Google
Amazing food, ambiance, and the service was great! I would recommend making a reservation so that you do not have to wait. Luckily I did and we were sat as soon as we showed up. I got a pancake, eggs, toast, and potatoes. The pancake had a sweet, buttery taste to them, and the potatoes were nicely seasoned. My husband got french toast, which he said tasted average. Definitely would come back to try their chicken and waffles.

This was such a cute brunch spot in the Uptown/Downtown Charlotte area! Definitely areas where you can take pictures and enjoy the vibe. Reservations are preferred especially on the weekends. I had a reservation for 11:15 and was seated within 10 minutes of me arriving. Our waitress Kim was phenomenal. They have a nice variety of menu items. I had the chicken and sweet potato waffle with grits and egg whites. The wait time for the food once I ordered was longer than anticipated (about 30 minutes) but Kim kept checking in with us. My chicken was extra crispy which I loved and seasoned very well. My waffle was a little hard, I prefer it to be fluffy. The eggs were cooked hard which was awesome. The service overall was amazing, the food would give an 8/10 but would definitely come back and try other items.

From the moment I walked in, this place left a lasting impression. Our waitress was phenomenal, attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and well-versed in their seasonal offerings. Her recommendation led us to try the seasonal Passion Fruit Martini(I think, I don’t know , I might have made it up) , and wow what an incredible drink! It deserves a permanent spot on the menu. For food, we ordered the DAUBENSPECK (French toast with dulce de leche and maple whipped cream) and the WWIII (a cornmeal Belgian waffle served with three seasoned chicken wings, which can be buffalo-style or paired with a chicken thigh). We also added a side of cheese grits and three extra seasoned chicken wings. Let me start with the DAUBENSPECK. Whoever came up with this dish deserves an award! The French toast was perfectly sweetened and absolutely delicious. I’m a forever fan. Please don’t ever change it. As for the WWIII, we initially requested the sweet potato waffle, but due to an honest mistake, we received the cornmeal version instead. Despite the mix-up, it was still great, and I’ll definitely return to try the sweet potato waffle next time. The cheese grits? Well, they were exactly what you’d expect, solid and satisfying. (Let’s be honest: if you mess up grits, it’s deserving of a bombastic side-eye!) Now for the wings, seasoned to perfection and clearly prepared with care. I suspect they’re baked and then fried, which gives them great flavor. Unfortunately, one wing was undercooked (pink inside), but the staff immediately replaced it without any hassle. They were beautifully seasoned, but I’d recommend frying them a bit harder to ensure they’re fully cooked while keeping the juiciness intact. Overall, this was a fantastic dining experience. Despite a tiny hiccup, the quality of the food and service stood out, and I can confidently say I’ll be back often!

Yelp
Y'all this is the spot for a southern breakfast. The hostess was so friendly and held our luggage for us, as we were otw to CLT after. The food was SO GOOD. The smell when you walk up is mouthwatering. I didn't take any pictures because we were starving but trust me when I say get the chicken and waffles. Perfectly seasoned chicken wings and a thick and fluffy waffle. Service was friendly and quick. Would definitely come back when I'm in town. P.S.- make a reservation because this place is popular.

Yelp
Pretty good brunch food The cappuccino was super yummy - they only offer whole or oat milk. I got an egg white omelette (the brave heart) and it was really good with some hot sauce on the side. The grits were also pretty good.

Latrice H.

Yelp
This is my new favorite brunch place in charlotte. I'd recommend making reservations on the weekend, as it does get crowded and the wait times can be lengthy. But honestly, it was worth it. The shrimp and grits are a personal fave and the TN fries. The service was good and they have a fire playlist. Plenty of street parking (paid and free) and a lot nearby.

Celeste D.

Yelp
I came here for brunch not expecting it to be as good as it was! The service was great and the place is so cute on the inside. I got the WWlll which was the chicken and waffle with the chicken breast and omggggg it was seasoned soooo well!!! I also got a side of potatoes and those were sooo flavorful and crispy! The music that was being played was also a vibe and set the tone. This was the perfect brunch spot and I will be returning soon!

Simone M.

Yelp
When it comes to me, 1 thing is for certain, 2 things for sure, I DON'T PLAY ABOUT BRUNCH and CUSTOMER SERVICE BETTER BE A-1! Lol This place is a 10 OUT OF 10 ACROSS THE BOARD, WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!! It has been only a month (this coming Monday) of my family and I living in Charlotte, and today we were finally able to get out and explore the food scene in Uptown! I found out about this 5 STAR restaurant from a review on Instagram. It was a risk WELL REWARDED! From walking in and being greeted WITH A BEAUTIFUL SMILE by the hostess IMMEDIATELY to the R&B music setting the tone just right, I knew we were in the right place! They have card games to play while you wait to be seated. The restaurant is designed with pop art, bold colors and enough space to host your parties, big or small. Our waitress, I failed to get her name, WAS SO SWEET! With this being our first time, she was patient and very knowledgeable. She gave us her recommendations on menu items and was attentive to our needs! (She has a gold necklace with an "A" and beautiful curly hair, hope that helps lol) NOW TO THE FOOD!!!! Y'all!!! IT MAKES NO SENSE FOR THE FOOD TO BE THIS GOOD!!!! My husband ordered the shrimp and grits with a side of bacon and sunny side up eggs. My daughter and I ordered the pancakes and I added a side of their T.N. Fries (which is like country potatoes). My brother ordered their French toast and fried chicken wings with a side of cheesy eggs. Lastly, we all ordered the sweet tea (while mine included lemonade). Let's just say, this was BY FAR one of the best brunch experiences (food-wise) I've had in YEARS! No exaggeration! We will DEFINITELY be back and will be adding this to our list of "Must-Do" when family and friends visit us here in Charlotte! Thank you UPTOWN YOLK for an amazing dining experience!

Yelp
Went to this establishment for the first time. The service was quite slow! We had reservations but took a while to be seated. Then it took a while to get asked about drinks. We finally got drinks and were able to place our orders. We all ordered shrimp and grits. I tried the sweet potato biscuit and was more like a cornbread. I wasn't a fan of the jam. it was like a spice or acquired taste. The shrimp and grits were okay. It didn't stand out to me! It was a nice vibe of course. I would try it again

Kamilia L.

Yelp
I got the Wisconsin with sausage, carmelized onion, aged Gouda, sweet potato waffle, and sweet potato latte. I was very impressed with the plating. The waffle was moist, sweet, and fluffy with a delicious delicate bite. The cinnamon decore was beautiful but would have preferred my waffle doused in it. My omelet was massive. It wasn't impactful, but it was decent. I mean, it is just eggs. It did include carmelized onion, sausage, and Gouda. The sweet potato Iced latte was really good. Maybe because I have been pushing sugar away, I thought it was sweet. I was told it wouldn't be. However, I liked it. The shrimp n grits looked amazing. I'd definitely have to come back for that. King was awesome!. He came through polite and professional. I loved his energy. We had a large group (9+) strong, and he focused on each person, ensuring our meal was specific.

Kiana M.

Yelp
Omg!!! Food was freaking amazing. I got the WWIII which was a waffle with 3 wings. The food was very seasoned and cooked to perfection. The waffle was very fluffy and tasty. The service was impeccable. The waiter was friendly and attentive. The ambiance was very aesthetically pleasing. The environment was very chill and I would 100% recommend

Yelp
Ahhhhh I really wanted to give a 5 star review. But service can definitely make or break an experience for me. I made a reservation for a party of 12 to celebrate my birthday. When we arrived, there was only one other table, also a large party. We were promptly seated once our entire party was present. We placed our drink orders and browsed the menu, as very few of us had ever been. I recognized some of the staff from Leah & Louise. Unfortunately, the service just wasn't great. There was confusion when bringing over similar drinks. Our server was borderline rude to some of my friends who had questions or asked to make changes to their orders. There were excruciatingly long waits in between our server checking on us. Our water carafe sat empty for the majority of the meal. The dishes came out very spread out. While many of my friends were very happy with their dishes, myself included, a few were disappointed. There is definitely great potential. However, consistency in service and food experience is important.

Yelp
Easy 5 stars. Stop playing and get the chicken that comes with WWIII. It is honestly some of the best tasting chicken I've had in life!!! The grits are very delicious, too. The ambiance is great. Our server, Tae, who is listed in other reviews, was great. She works hard, and her swag is on point. Just be careful of the address as it can be deceiving. The building Yolk is a part of is on S. Tryon. But the actual establishment and entrance are around the corner and easy to miss. Plan to return and highly recommend.

Yelp
The team behind Uptown Yolk really did an amazing job designing a fun, modern, beautiful place to experience breakfast. I really enjoyed the coffee, pancake & shrimp & grits, unfortunately I didn't order the shrimp & grits, my dining partner did, but they were spectacular, don't miss the shrimp & grits!! The team was great at keeping our water glasses filled, too, SO much appreciated. I ordered a pancake and three seasoned chicken wings with a side of cheesy eggs. The pancake was good, not overly memorable, but good. The seasoned chicken wings and eggs were way too salty for me. I really didn't enjoy either one; no amount of water I could down the rest of the day seemed to help. So sadly, when I think back to my experience that day, the intense saltiness of the majority of my meal, coupled with the salt overload aftereffect the rest of the day and spending nearly $80 dollars for it all just overshadows the highlights of the experience. I'd absolutely return and try a different ordering approach: stick exactly to the menu items as listed (no substitutions for items to keep cost down) and ask to go light on the salt, if at all possible. I think this spot could be pretty fantastic I really think I ordered wrong. I hope to give it another try in the future. March 2024

Yelp
I've been to the place twice now and every time it's been so good! The servers are so kind and have great recommendations. The food that I've had has been great and I keep Going back to try something new on the menu. It's such a homey place and I will continue to go back.

Grace B.

Yelp
Amazing place! My mother and I visited on the Saturday before Mother's Day. It took us a bit of time to find the establishment so I would recommend that you give yourself a bit of time to park and walk over (they are located in the back of a building). The establishment is small, it helped to make a reservation ahead of time. The food was amazing! Great breakfast food, I recommend ordering their potatoes- so well seasoned.

Desa D.

Yelp
Heaven!!! The staff was excellent. I was headed to the airport the day Microsoft decided to crash. I was able to bring my suitcases with me and sit in the back corner out of the way. The food was excellent. We had a few picky eaters and the staff waited for us to try everything. They even came back to make sure we were happy. Everything i ate was amazing. I'm so glad we came here!!

Monique W.

Yelp
This place is so delicious. The first time I went was with a large group of friends and they seated us quickly the service was really good and the waitress worked with us because I wanted something that's not on the menu and she helped me get exactly what I wanted. The drinks are very good even the mocktails are delicious. My only request is that they put a fried chicken benedict on the menu so I can stop ordering it out of cart LOL

Andrea R.

Yelp
Was looking forward to trying this place. The vibe is good, great artwork and music. But the service was slow and the drinks were just okay. The food was pretty good.

Nakia S.

Yelp
One thing Uptown Yolk is gonna do is cook food to perfection. I have been here at least 5-6 times during various times of their normal business hours, including brunch. I've dined solo, with a group of 12 and table for 2...they did not miss! Every wait and waitress was on point. I love the vibe here, music was real cute and not too loud where you may find yourself needing to yell across the table or say "HUH?" too often. Since I am a creature of habit when I find something on the menu that I truly enjoy, I usually get the french toast or the chicken and waffles. It's something about their wings...the seasoning will have you unknowingly licking your fingers in public!!! Also try the sangria, delish! Just go, you wont be disappointed.

Ashley A.

Yelp
BEAUTIFUL space with lots of natural lighting, a great menu, but the service is slow. You can see the staff working hard to keep things front of the house moving along, but as with freshly prepared food...it takes time. Be prepared to wait. Our server seemed overwhelmed as he forgot to refill our water glasses after they reached the bottom twice (yes, we were able to drink that much water before our food came) and he forgot to put in our order of French toast (which we ended up receiving complimentary to-go). My husband said the fried chicken was some of the best he'd ever tasted, and I agree it was well seasoned. The shrimp and grits were flavorful, but I would have preferred a thicker roux/sauce. Was soupier than I usually like but I licked the bowl clean because it was yummy. They were out of brown butter biscuits, and were replaced by sweet potato biscuits with butter and red pepper jelly. It was a very dense biscuit, and I didn't really enjoy it nor the red pepper jelly. All in all, I'd give this place another visit for the chicken and waffles and to try the other menu items, but I'm bringing some uno cards to pass the time!

Joe T.

Yelp
Great location, music, and decor at Uptown Yolk! The chicken and waffles were the star of the show! It was brunch time on a Saturday so we were happy they got us a table, thought maybe they needed a 2nd bartender because it was packed. Overall this is a great meet up spot, and clearly a place to see and be seen. Check it out!

Alexis C.

Yelp
Went here for brunch on Juneteenth. Didn't realize they accepted reservations, but we managed to snag seats at the bar. Bartender was amazing and kind. Food is delicious. I don't know how they cook those TN fries, but they are seasoned perfectly, crunchy on the outside and completely soft melt in your mouth on the inside. Could literally eat these over and over. Chicken and waffles were delicious. Loved the red pepper jam on the bacon egg and cheese and the homemade brioche roll was great! Restaurant itself was super cute - comfy couches for waiting - and they had some games to play which was fun. Have told all of my friends to go and I will most definitely be back - with a reservation this time!

Tiffany H.

Yelp
This is a black owned restaurant. You can find parking in the street. The address takes you to the front of the building, but it's located in the back. It's kind of confusing, but the owner says it's how the post office set up the building address. The drinks were strong and the shrimp and grits were flavorful and good. The music is old school hip hop or smooth R&B combo. The decor is nice and the staff were friendly. I will return. It's a must try in Charlotte.

Tanya C.

Yelp
I highly recommend going here for brunch. I had to make sure I tried this black-owned business one of Charlotte's newest restaurants. Now serving breakfast, brunch and lunch 8am - 3pm. I think they now serve dinner now. This restaurant is vibrant, casual and colorful. Great place to meet-up, catch up with friends while enjoying good food and great vibes! The staff was polite and delivered great customer service. Here's what I recommend: Sweet Potato Waffle w/pecan butter & maple whipped cream Three Southern fried chicken wings Shrimp & Grits w/smoked Gouda, jerk shrimp and scallion pesto TN fries diced potatoes w/Tennessee sweet seasoning We truly enjoyed our experience and will definitely return to try more menu items. Tip: The restaurant validates parking for 90 minutes in the adjacent attached parking garage. Book: Reservations on Open Table

Antoine W.

Yelp
An AMAZING meal with family. The service was excellent from greeting, seating, wait staff to meal. The ambiance is eclectic., it didn't hurt that parking was validated for your first 90 minutes in the parking garage located in the rear of the establishment. DO NOT LEAVE THIS ESTABLISHMENT WITHOUT ORDERING THE TN FRIES! I REPEAT.... DO NOT LEAVE WITHOUT ORDERING THE TN FRIES....

Tori P.

Yelp
Absolutely loved my visit to Uptown Yolk. First, we went during the week so they weren't too busy. There is a parking garage nearby but we found street parking pretty close by . They offer several seating options including table/booth combos, two person tables, and bar seating. It is a quaint space so it's best to keep it to a group of 6 or less. The atmosphere is such a vibe (colorful, inviting, and great music). I tried the Dulce de leche latte during the visit. It has a hint is sweetness, not overwhelming. I also had the WWII chicken & waffles. This meal was cooked and seasoned to perfection and the waffles were fluffy Everything was fresh and delicious Extra notes: the bathrooms were very clean and baby friendly. The staff was great. We didn't have to wait long for our food. I highly recommend Uptown Yolk.

Tatiana S.

Yelp
I was really looking for to eating here and enjoying this place after having heard such good things & today being my birthday but $165 for HORRIBLE service and cold food NEVER again & I understand wait staff gets busy as well as back of the house but the waitress completely ignored us several times at first i thought maybe she was just having a rough time but it kept getting worse and to take the cake the food was cold and shrimp was undercooked for shrimp in grits they need to really reevaluate staff as a whole

Kel G.

Yelp
Order: WWII (aka chicken and waffles), shrimp and grits, bird in the hand (aka chicken sandwich), and side of Tennessee potatoes It's a cute little breakfast place in uptown Charlotte. The decor was modern, funky and welcoming. The service was a bit slow, not sure if they were short staffed but the brunch service wasn't busy (there were maybe 4 tables already seated when we arrived). The WWII was very good. The chicken was the crispiest I've very eaten in my life and the seasoning they had on it was soo good! I couldn't say the same for the waffle, it was a little soggy. I like my waffle with a crispy outside and a fluffy center. The shrimp and grits were also delicious with the exception of too much cheese. It was thick grated Gouda, too overwhelming for my palate. They also served the shrimp and grits with a side of toast (a nice touch pairing them together). The chicken sandwich was seasoned similar to the WWII, so it too was very flavorful. And lastly the potatoes; very crispy and topped with seasoned salt. Overall an excellent choice for brunch.

Tammy R.

Yelp
Shout out to Lex and Paul! Bar service top notch!! 1st timer but will definitely be back. The grits and beef sausage ..awesome Didn't need and salt or pepper for the grits. No syrup needed for the pancakes

Lauren A.

Yelp
Another good Black Owned spot in the books! I will definitely be back to try something else. I went to Uptown Yolk for the first time a few days ago for brunch. My party was late and I appreciate them being accommodating especially with it being my graduation weekend. Our server I believe was named Paul was helpful, kind, and on top of serving us. The place is spacious, colorful, and the music was on point. For my meal, I got the WWIII but substituted Belgian waffle with the sweet potato waffle. The WWIII comes with a waffle and three wings or one crispy thigh for $23. The substitution is $2 extra. The waffle was so good you could eat it without syrup! The chicken was flavorful and crispy! But the POTATOES!!! Crispy, perfectly seasoned, and fluffy in the middle. Everything was delicious. I didn't pay for my meal (someone else did) so I don't know my total because I also got a peach mimosa. However, well worth it!!!

Kathryn T.

Yelp
Wow!! This place has been on my list for a while, and it surpassed expectations. When you read the reviews, you will see HIGH remarks about the grits. After reading the praise, I figured I had to try them, and they did NOT disappoint. Everything we ate was delicious, and I would love to go back and keep working my way through the menu. Our server was friendly (and very patient with our indecisiveness). Food: - 2 if by land (grits bowl with cheese and 2 eggs) and a side of bacon. The grits were truly out of this world. - my friend ordered the shrimp and grits with the jerk sauce on the side and also LOVED it (including the jerk sauce). We came in on a rainy Sunday morning without reservations. It was completely booked for the next 2.5 hours, but the bar is first come first serve and we were able to sit there after ~10 minutes. Not to mention, the bar was beautiful and they were making such fun cocktails! The restaurant was clean and had a fun interior with lots of color and unique decorations. All around, a great spot to add to your brunch list!

Kimberly H.

Yelp
Had a great brunch with a group of 11! Everything was seasoned well and very tasty. I loved that they provide games for the table.

Elizabeth F.

Yelp
We arrived on Sunday morning for brunch. There were several open seats but apparently reserved so we sat at the bar. One of the bartenders was super nice and friendly, making a delicious sweet potato latte for me. The other clearly did not want to be there / wait on people. An ask for hot sauce that we had asked for earlier when we ordered was responded with a death stare. Fortunately, the person sitting next to us heard our ask and passed the bottle over. Food wise I got the biscuit and gravy. It was surprisingly a bit cold. The chicken in the gravy was a nice touch and the biscuits were a bit unique, not the southern biscuits one would expect. Overall the ambiance was fun and energetic. Service was a hit or miss depending on who was attending to us. Food was fine, but not having us going back.

MoShai G.

Yelp
Stopped in on my way to the airport with my aunt and grandfather. First of all I love the spot super cute! I order a lattee and the WWIII but got the sweet potato waffle instead and it was divine - didnt need syrup it was delicious. My grandfather loooved the biscuits and gravy. Overall the service was great and enjoyed the music! I wish parking was easier but if i lived in the area I would def just walk over. Looking forward to coming back soon.

Valarie F.

Yelp
Uptown Yolk is a must! I've been here twice in the last two weeks, because I just can't get enough. The ambience and environment is fun and inviting. There's great music and lots of fun things to look at in the decor. The service exemplary! Both times I've gone I've had great service, and there was nothing that I would complain about in that department. In fact, my absolute favorite person in the entire establishment is the lady who brings out the food. Her attitude is so sweet and it is obvious how much she cares about each guest's experience. As for the food, I would definitely give it a 4.7 out of five. Of all the food and drinks. I've sampled so far only one was not to my liking. However, I understand that different people have different palettes, so don't take this as a reason not to try everything on the menu. Here are the specific dishes over tried so far: Brûlée: this is a unique take on a blade grapefruit. Layered with mint, honey and yogurt, it's a perfect combination of flavors. I loved it! WWW.IIII. - I am not a big fan of chicken and waffles. It has really been overdone in my opinion. However, I would go back for this one every single time! The chicken is seasoned, wonderfully, and is incredibly tasty. I expected the cornmeal waffle to be a bit dense, but it was one of the fluffiest waffles I've ever had in life! I would definitely recommend this to every guest. Shrimp and Grits: this dish was not my favorite. The shrimp is cooked in a jerk sauce, which isn't too bad. However, a huge amount of jerk sauce is ladled on top of the grits, along with the shrimp. This drowns out all of the other flavors, which was disappointing, because the grits were delicious. But I just couldn't get away from that jerk sauce. So I might try this dish again, but without the jerk sauce. Sweet potato latte: it sounds weird but it was DELISH!! You have to try it for yourself. Mushroom mocha latte: wasn't as sweet as I would like, but it has a really interesting flavor. I'm sure I will be back again.... And again... And again

Yelp
Good Vibes, Great Food! Came here for a very late brunch on a Sunday with no reservation. We were able to get seated immediately at a table for two. The space is very vibrant with lots of natural light, vibrant colors and decorations throughout the restaurant. We ordered the omelette with grits and the Valley of the Sun w/potatoes. Everything came out very delicious especially the valley of the sun the chorizo chili was very flavorful (I ate the whole thing) and the potatoes were well seasoned. My friend said her omelette was really good as well and the grits were definitely more than expected. I'm hoping I can try this place again while in town the chicken & waffles looked amazing. Additionally, The owners were extremely friendly and pleasant we were able to put in some song requests which was a fun touch to the atmosphere.

Bryona T.

Yelp
Our server was great food was great food came out super fast over all 10 | 10 ! Will definitely be back. I think our servers name was kim?? She was wonderful

Ruthie S.

Yelp
BOB...Ambiance is amazing. Reservations are suggested. The menu is great, many options. Host is pleasant and so is the waitress, Sallai. There is a bar you can sit at. The bartender is engaging and funny. The sounds are relaxing and soulful. I couldn't choose between the Shrimp and Grits or the Sweet Potato Waffles. Went with the S&G. If you enjoy Pumpkin Latte, the Sweet Potato Latee will change your life, Creamy, spicy. Just pleasing to my taste buds. The shrimp and grits are a grand slam. The texture is a bit different, a good different. Definitely not Quaker box grits. The gravy, look here... if I had some biscuits with that, I would have to be rolled out the door. The shrimp could have used a little more time on the stove, but that didn't take away from the experience. If you put syrup on your pancakes...leave it on the table with these cakes. There is a sweet taste to them, and they are crispy. The Waffles, the pecan whipp is amazing.. I could eat that with a spoon as a stand alone. You could literally put that ish... on everything. The service was impeccable. The manger greets and engages with the guests and Sallai is very attentive but not overbearing, and knowledgeable about the menu. She gave great recommendations and when one from the party asked about pork being in the food...she checked immediately. When you're in the area, give this little piece of heaven a try... you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
This trip to Uptown Yolk was long overdue. I'm soooooo glad I got to check them out this past weekend for brunch. This restaurant is a breath of fresh air in Charlotte/South End! I'd been to this restaurant when it was inside Market at 7th street back in the day and I enjoyed it then, but this new space is AMAZING!!! I'm a huge fan of Chef Collier and Subrina, so I was legitimately so so so excited to check out Uptown Yolk. I made a reservation for my friend and I at 2pm on Sunday. I was super surprised it wasn't busier. I was able to snag free street parking in South End, so that was a nice plus. The restaurant itself is super colorful and decorative as soon as you walk up, you just see pops of color. Their waiting area is dope! There's artsy and eclectic furniture and they even had old school etch a sketch's sitting around. I mean that alone was one of the biggest highlights. I haven't seen or played with an etch a sketch in decades!!!! This menu was so fun, it was really hard to decide what I wanted. Just means I'll have to come back and try everything lol. Our server, Cherise was amazing. She was extremely thorough when she told us about the menu and just really sweet! Awesome awesome service! Now, the FOOD!!!!!! I ordered the roasted sweet potato latte, and I mean when have you ever seen something like that on a menu?! Another reason I just love anything Chef Collier does! My latte was really delicious and flavorful. They also had a dulce de leche latte that I gotta come back and try lol. For food I ended up ordering my fav brunch meal: WWIII, which is cornmeal belgian waffle with 3 wings. I got my wings seasoned, but you also had the option to get them either buffalo or a crispy thigh. Which is pretty cool. This was easily one of the best iterations of chicken and waffles I've ever had. The chicken was fantastically seasoned to perfection and fried to perfection. Who's mama was back there cooking, seriously?! It tasted like good ole home cooking and I was thoroughly impressed. It paired perfectly with the huge, fluffy belgian waffle. I didn't end up eating my whole meal there...but later that night at home!!!! It was legit such a great meal. Uptown Yolk is dope! Such a great addition to South End. It has its own style and flavor and I loved every minute of it. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
This place was amazing! The servers were very attentive and helped when I was so indecisive. The recommendations were great and the food was truly fantastic. I took my leftovers home and they were still great the next day. I can't wait to come back next time I'm in town

Yelp
Met up with a new friend here. I just had a couple of drinks since I had already eaten. The restaurant is small inside but cute decor. They have a bar area and outdoor seating. I arrived first and was sat outside. I waited a few mins before my friend arrived. Still by the time she arrived no one came to the table to greet us. The waiter for the outside area's focus seemed to be on the table of pretty girls behind me so I ended up waving down someone else to put in our orders. I had the watermelon Red Bull mimosa & the sangria. Both were really good but the sangria was my fav. My friend enjoyed her food. I'll be back to try the food and hope to receive better service.

Yelp
I was looking forward to eating here by what i saw on this app. The atmosphere was very inviting. The music was hitting putting our group up of 9 in great and festive mood. Service was as a little slow although the hostess was great! The server just showed up, he was not in the mood for "serving" or telling us about the restaurant or food no "have you dined with us before" nothing just what's your drink order and are you ready to order. We had some foodies at the table - Some of the order of pancakes were cold - butter was not melting. The toast was bread and not toast. My "2 by land" was good - grits were very good- the texture and taste. Bacon was good, the brown butter pancakes were tasty (the hot ones) the build your omelette was good and so was the sweet potatoe waffle.

Yelp
The food was really good. We got the Daubenspeck with a side of scrambled eggs with cheese. We also got the "There's Fire" with a side of grits with Gouda cheese. Everything was delicious. The server was nice and average but the food was a B+. The vibe is calm and nice and overall this is a good breakfast spot but an even better brunch spot.

Yelp
Came Saturday for brunch had a reservation and got seated quickly. It's a smaller restaurant and there seemed to be a few parties waiting to be seated. They provided a drink menu and a QR menu for food. Service was good, got our drinks and food fairly quickly. They always made sure we had water and any other items we needed. Great spot if you're looking for a quick sit down brunch. We ordered mimosas; they were mostly orange juice but still decent. The menu is smaller but there is a good selection of different items. We ordered the Mojo Hash and the Valley of the Sun. Both were delicious the steak on the Mojo Hash was very tender and it had a good flavor. Could have used more spice but just add hot sauce. The Valley of the Sun had a delicious flavor with plenty of spicy. We would come back if in the area and looking for a more casual brunch place.

Yelp
This place was truly great. We were luck enough to find street parking pretty close by. Yet, I can see how some might find parking as a deterrent. If you can get past it though, this place will not disappoint you. The decor and vibe was warm and inviting. There was plenty of seating options from bar bar tops to cozy tables. The staff was equally awesome as they provide suggestions and great service. I actually talked with the manager after he complimented me on my Aggie sweater. Now the food was right on time. Looking at the picture, you might think that my potatoes are burnt. Oh no, they are just seasoned, cooked, and then seasoned some more to perfection. They were SO GOOD! The omelet was good too. I'll definely go back to try other items but I'll for sure order the potatoes again.

Yelp
My son and I showed up around 10:15 on a Thursday morning. Although we had seen this place packed- it was nice and quiet! We were greeted and seated quickly. Love the feel of the place- eclectic with great music. Good portions on our food- I got the omelette with bacon, spinach and tomato. It had a good amount of bacon! My son got the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich.

Yelp
Service was good but my chicken was still bleeding. The lovely waitress tried everything to make up for it but it was nothing I really wanted after that. The waffle that was paired with the chicken was really good. And I must say if the chicken was done, it would've been good because it wad seasoned well.

Yelp
First impression is that they can get my business over and over again! Our family. And as a party of 13, six of which were kids ranging from ages 2-13. We had an hour and a half wait. They had games available for play while we waited! Also they brought out cups of ice cold water and complimentary potatoes for the kids! The service has been stellar thus far! We'll be back for sure!

Yelp
Once again, thank you Uptown Yolk did not disappoint. My husband and I have decided this is out favorite brunch spot in town. The food was, of course, stupendous. The service is impeccable. We had our 11 month son with us who inevitably threw his toys on the ground. We weren't messing with them and one of the servers or maybe even the manager came over with a pitcher with hot water from the coffee machine and picked up his toys and put them in the water to sanitize. We were beyond impressed. Go here. Enjoy. Then go again.

Yelp
A quaint simple decor is designed to be welcoming. The staff is friendly and informative. The menu is a winner, my first trip "There's Fire" a re-imagined chicken, biscuits and gravy with jalapeño jam ( nice heat).... my new favorite breakfast choice. Its a new wave southern comfort spot...TRY IT
