Uptown Yolk is a must! I've been here twice in the last two weeks, because I just can't get enough. The ambience and environment is fun and inviting. There's great music and lots of fun things to look at in the decor.
The service exemplary! Both times I've gone I've had great service, and there was nothing that I would complain about in that department. In fact, my absolute favorite person in the entire establishment is the lady who brings out the food. Her attitude is so sweet and it is obvious how much she cares about each guest's experience.
As for the food, I would definitely give it a 4.7 out of five. Of all the food and drinks. I've sampled so far only one was not to my liking. However, I understand that different people have different palettes, so don't take this as a reason not to try everything on the menu.
Here are the specific dishes over tried so far:
Brûlée: this is a unique take on a blade grapefruit. Layered with mint, honey and yogurt, it's a perfect combination of flavors. I loved it!
WWW.IIII. - I am not a big fan of chicken and waffles. It has really been overdone in my opinion. However, I would go back for this one every single time! The chicken is seasoned, wonderfully, and is incredibly tasty. I expected the cornmeal waffle to be a bit dense, but it was one of the fluffiest waffles I've ever had in life! I would definitely recommend this to every guest.
Shrimp and Grits: this dish was not my favorite. The shrimp is cooked in a jerk sauce, which isn't too bad. However, a huge amount of jerk sauce is ladled on top of the grits, along with the shrimp. This drowns out all of the other flavors, which was disappointing, because the grits were delicious. But I just couldn't get away from that jerk sauce. So I might try this dish again, but without the jerk sauce.
Sweet potato latte: it sounds weird but it was DELISH!! You have to try it for yourself.
Mushroom mocha latte: wasn't as sweet as I would like, but it has a really interesting flavor.
I'm sure I will be back again.... And again... And again
