We had soo much fun with Coach Chris the Pizza Papa at Uban Axes! Highly recommend for a date nights! You're going to love it!

Jack Coleman

Google
Went for a birthday. Called ahead and staff was super helpful in advising on what times to come in and fitting us in on a busy Saturday to have a lane waiting for us. It was a blast. Birthday girl had a ton of fun and it was our axe coaches birthday as well! Bryant was a great coach patient with the new throwers and had us all hitting bullseyes before the night was over. 10/10 would ask for him again.

Korie Creel

Google
We came here for a team building activity with our business, and we had a great time! Our coach, Chris, was so fun and encouraging, and the atmosphere was super relaxed. We had a great time and can't wait to come back!

Google
Outstanding axe throwing place! Very friendly and helpful staff, great layout with four different ranges, and they host leagues on weeknights. Had the place to ourselves on an early Thursday afternoon, and our "coach" Jacob was amazing. Drinks, including alcohol (canned beers, mostly), are complimentary with the $45/person fee. Can't recommend highly enough for a group outing, organized or impromptu.

Google
My company and I had an absolutely fantastic time at Urban Axes, and the entire journey from the initial inquiry to the actual event was nothing short of delightful. From the moment we expressed interest to the seamless booking process and finally experiencing the event itself, every step was filled with enjoyment. Our coaches, Chris and Brandon, played a pivotal role in making the experience memorable. Their expertise not only in guiding us through the axe-throwing techniques but also in creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and excitement truly stood out. Chris and Brandon's friendly and encouraging demeanor added a unique charm to the entire event, making it not just an axe-throwing session but a lively and engaging party. Their dedication to ensuring we understood every aspect of the activity made the learning process both accessible and enjoyable. They took the time to answer our questions, provide helpful tips, and even shared some amusing anecdotes, creating a relaxed and enjoyable environment for everyone. The event itself was a perfect blend of entertainment and team-building. The combination of laughter, friendly competition, and mouthwatering food made it an all-encompassing and unforgettable experience. In retrospect, our time at Urban Axes wasn't just about throwing axes; it was about creating lasting memories with colleagues in a unique and enjoyable setting. The attention to detail, the professionalism of the staff, and the overall atmosphere contributed to making it the highlight of our company outings. We are already looking forward to the next opportunity to engage in such a fantastic and team-building experience.

Google
I brought my wife to this event. We both had fun and agreed we'd like to come back with a group of friends. Having a coach help us adjust our step or foot placement really made a big difference. BYOB is also pretty cool. We'll be back again soon.

Google
Had such a great time, so much fun. Definitely coming back again. Aaron was great at coaching us and making sure we all had such a great time. Highly recommend asking for him or even just coming here to have a great time.

Google
Had a good time. Staff members were pretty friendly and they teach you how to throw properly. It’s BYOB (but no hard alcohol). I rented it for a group of 14, but there were plenty of smaller groups there too. I was disappointed that the staff didn’t manage our tournament timing well and were VERY ready to leave at the exact moment our time ended. I get it, it’s a 2 hour window, but we rely on them to manage our time and ensure we can complete our activity. We ended up just getting rushed through at the end which wasn’t great. It was cool that they kept track of our scores. Fun place for a team building activity.

Yelp
The shared parking lot was a hit or miss to find a spot. We had to circle for a bit. Entry includes a drink which as appreciated. You can bring your own food as there's no food served here. As a newbie, i felt that the axe throwing sections were too close to each other. My son has been to another ax throwing venue and confirmed that the other place had more space. Our instructor was great and offered lots of tips!

Yelp
Came here with some friends right before thanksgiving and we had a great time!! They had a discount going on for the holidays so the prices were really good too and it comes with a drink!! The workers were really friendly and helpful!! We were the only group there so we had a lot of fun playing against each other and making up challenges even if it was pretty difficult

Yelp
I know I'm late to the party- but, dang, axe throwing is fun! I first heard about it SIX years ago, and it has taken me this long to get around to trying it. We had a terrific coach, Chelsea, who was very encouraging and helpful. She was absolutely correct- the less you think about it, the more you get "out of your head" about technique, and just DO IT! Even though I scored "the one who had the most fun " place (AKA last place), I had a blast! Highly recommend you try it. YOLO.

Yelp
Great experience here as axe throwing is one of my favorite hobbies. Was in town visiting and my friend new this is my schtick! We stopped by on a mid Saturday afternoon and were able to get a lane for 2. We had Callie as an instructor and while I fancy myself as a very good axe thrower, she showed me some tips and motions that enhanced my talents. They whole staff is pretty cool actually. When I return to Austin, this will definitely be one of my stops!!
google avatar

Yelp
Had such a great time. I wish I could remember the name of our coach, she was great! Was helpful in correcting our form and keeping it all moving. The 90 minutes flew by. The only bummer was my wife kicking everyone's ass savagely. It was no contest. Highly recommend for a fun time.

Liz S.

Yelp
My family and I had an amazing time throwing axes on Fathers Day. I really didn't expect it to be fun for me, it was something for my husband and son to enjoy together but it was surprisingly great. My son and husband had done it before, but they said the other place was set up more like a video game with interactive screens and such. This was very different--our coach took the time to work with us until we could actually throw an ax properly, observing us and correcting our form with each throw. At this place they take ax throwing seriously as a sport and know their stuff and it really shows. I would highly recommend it for anyone, not just manly men. Lol! You will be able to do it by the end and it will be fun.

Yelp
Came to Urban Axes for an event, and I'm glad I did. You get assigned a coach that teaches you how to throw an axe double handed, single handed, and how to throw a large axe. Not only do they teach and coach you, but they are also your biggest cheerleaders! Shoutout to Babs! This is definitely a great spot to hangout with friends, family, or even go on a date. One thing to note, its BYOB so make sure your bring your drinks and snacks. Can't wait to visit again.

Tony G.

Yelp
First time going to an axe throwing place. We were greeted immediately and safety rules were explained. There were three people in our group and shoutout to Cali, who was our coach. She is extremely friendly and knowledgeable and her coaching tips were excellent. She told me, "We know you can hit a bullseye, but what about the small rectangle?" Hit it twice just to be sure it wasn't a lucky shot. I haven't thrown axes in over 45 years. I will definitely be going back!
google avatar

Winter S.

Yelp
The staff is well experienced in the safety precautions. I was given some nice pointers that helped me throw two bullseyes! I enjoyed the experience. It's spacious for large parties! I'd go back for another experience.
google avatar

Mariel V.

Yelp
It was a gloomy night and we wanted to do something indoors so we went to check Urban Axes out on Riverside l If you're looking for a new hobby or just wanting to try something new, come to @urbanaxes Indoor axe throwing. They offer walk-ins for recreation or if you're in to compete - join a league! Either way, it's a lot of fun. So get out of the sun/rain/hail and inside this fun spot! Friendly and very helpful staff!
google avatar

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Great experience for first-timers. We walked in around 1 or 2 on Saturday and were told we could join another group of two for social throwing. I assumed we would have to take turns, all in one lane. Nope, four lanes, so all we shared was the awesome instructor, Camden. He was super laid-back and a very good teacher. I forget the name of the person who checked us in and backed up for Camden but she was really nice as well. Highly recommend. Will be going back!
google avatar

Jarome W.

Yelp
This was my first time throwing axes! I had a good experience bringing my family and friends! The workers were very friendly. The worker was very helpful in assisting me with hitting my target. The ambiance was average nothing over the top! I would give this place a four or five if they sold alcohol and food!
google avatar

Priya N.

Yelp
Urban axes is a Great place to hang out with friends and family! With an exceptional way to stress relief, you can throw axes at a board. Although it may seem easy, it actually is quite difficult. However, do not fret cause the staff on hand are extremely helpful and will give you tips and tricks. They are truly there to hype you up! It is certainly a place to check out!

Ashley G.

Yelp
So much fun! Our instructor taught us well while keeping things fun and entertaining. Can't wait to go back.
google avatar

David T.

Yelp
Great experience and would definitely recommend coming here for any celebration or just to have fun! Staff is personable, friendly, and filled with great puns. Shoutout to Scott for letting us put the axes in his axe hold. BYOB so keep that in mind before you head over. For what should be obvious reasons wear closed toe shoes only. Being a first timer the coaches did a great job of emphasizing safety and providing feedback on throws. If you've been curious about throwing an axe you have to come down and try it. It took me about 5 throws to feel comfortable, but the coaches were really helpful in building my confidence. Excellent staff that will ensure safety and fun for everyone!
google avatar

Simone H.

Yelp
We came here for a fun little Sunday date and had such a blast! Our coach, Brandon was very informative and also fun to throw axes with! I've thrown axes at other establishments but never had the opportunity to learn multiple throws (like underhand) or try different axes. Brandon also taught us a few games to play and explained more advanced play like the leagues they have at the facility. By the end of our hour we were both basically able to throw a bullseye on command--still working on that clutch though. Thanks Urban Axes and Brandon! We'll definitely be coming back for more fun!
google avatar

Peter K.

Yelp
I was here for the Yelp Elite event and Urban Axes never disappoints! The location is great and plenty of parking even better! The employees here are like family and treat the customers the same and it truly shows! Tomas hosted the Yelp Elite event and I saw him manage this by himself which was very impressive and getting everyone situated and accommodating everyone super quick! We appreciate all the hard work he does for us (He should get a raise from Yelp headquarters...lol). We had a blast at this event and met some awesome people! I also have to give a shout out to our Axe coach definitely humble & knowledgeable! I will definitely recommend this spot to anyone interested in learning or relieving some stress!
google avatar

Lakisha M.

Yelp
When I tell y'all I had a blast, I truly had a blast. Now, I can't go and join an axe competition, but I can sure make you laugh! Leo you are the best... it was a pleasure meeting you and learning how to one hand throw the axe.
google avatar

Elyse M.

Yelp
This event was really fun! We were taught how to throw axes double handed and single handed and had some time to practice as well. The instructor I worked with was helpful in providing feedback on form and correction. The staff was friendly and helpful. They went over the rules clearly and there were no incidents I was aware of.
google avatar

Yuna K.

Yelp
This place is absolutely amazing!! Shoutout to the coaches who helped me here (i was finally able to get an axe on the board lol.) Babs was so helpful in giving me little tips and tricks on how to throw for both me and my boyfriend, as well as Leo who gave me his own axe to help me throw better! Izabella was also so nice and helpful!! i would recommend this place for a fun night out with your friends or a date night. Its a really cool experience and everyone is so nice! Even if you don't know how to throw axes everyone is super helpful so its easy to learn. There are also multiple sized axes as well as boards so you can pick and choose.
google avatar

Bee B.

Yelp
Fun place! Had a great time at this Yelp event. Everyone was super friendly and my coach, Jake & Izi, were knowledgeable and great teachers. I haven't really thrown axes before, except one time, and felt not so confident. But they taught us how to throw and we all had a good time giving it a go. Definitely will return and y'all should check it out!
google avatar

Chris F.

Yelp
It's an ok indoor activity for Texas' heat. However, you are paying to wait around a lot. The second time we went with just 2 people and they stuck us in with others we don't know. Wouldn't recommend that route, but I'm not an extrovert. It seems too expensive if most of the time you're just standing there watching others throw/talk/try to learn.
google avatar

Thomas F.

Yelp
Pulling up to this place I didn't know what to expect. It looks kind of "old" outside but as soon as you enter it's another story. This place is about having fun. When I arrived there were probably 30 people in front of me but check-in went super quick. Before I knew it I was throwing axes at a target. Our "coach" gave us really good instructions and was very patient and fun. After a quick warm up I got the hang of it and started hitting every shot. Mix in a bit of wine and some pizza (BYOB) and it really does make for a great date night or team event. I have gone to a few other axe throwing places across the country (Cali, Philly, New York) however this was really one of the best times I have had throwing axes. In fact I am thinking about holding a team event there. Take your spouse, a friend or do a team event and I am sure you won't be disappointed l. Bonus is you actually get a bit of a workout while having all of that fun :)
google avatar

Liliana A.

Yelp
It was our first time axe throwing and our coach, David, did an amazing job teaching us and was very fun. The environment was nice and the restrooms were clean. We had a great time!
google avatar

Karen Q.

Yelp
Well I did not expect to enjoy axe throwing as much as I did! Honestly, I walked into this VERY nervous, I was having palpitations even before attempting the first round, and wanted to take a break early on due to anxiety. But, I owe it to the fantastic instructors to really make you feel comfortable and provide the necessary advice to improve your performance. Their utmost priority is your safety, which was extremely reassuring! We eventually got the hang of it, and we're having loads of fun in no time. We were taught the safety basics first, then different throws (didn't realize how creative you could get), and played some one-on-one games. Such a fun experience!
google avatar

Jeffrey C.

Yelp
Yo, this place is legit an amazing joint for work gatherings. The communication that lead up to my company event was superb. I fly all over the country to help with logistics for my company's events and when an establishment makes my job easier that's a A+ in my book. The staff is also super cool. CLUTCHHHHH!!!
google avatar

Kevin O.

Yelp
Couldn't be more happy with the amazing customer service and just an overall great time. Hosted our work Christmas party here for the second year in a row. It's a prefect spot for a work get together. The coaches are helpful and great at making sure people have fun but are also safe. The BYOB feature and large fridge onsite is a lifesaver for anyone on a budget. So nice to not have to lug around a big cooler and ice. The catering options are top tier and VIA 313 came through big time and had everyone more than stuffed. 5 out of 5

Yelp
BABS here!!! I am a little biased because I AM a coach at Urban Axes. I love working there more than any other job I've had. The people I work with are amazing people. But the customers and league members are AH-mazing! I love how many different walks of life we get to experience daily just by working there. People from all over, different countries, all nationalities, from all over the world, have come here and we get to give them an experience they will hopefully never forget. But THAT'S NOT WHY IM HERE!!!! I'm here to shout out the 100 or so Yelp reviewers we had tonight at UA. Y'all were some of the most fun bunch of people I've ever gotten the joy of coaching. Tonight was such much a blast and it was so awesome to get to be one of the coaches that got to open this world up to you! I cheered so much tonight after giving yall my safety speech, I think I'm not going to have a voice in the morning! I look forward to seeing many of your faces again, hopefully in the near future, on date night, in groups or even in league! Thank YOU all for the fun! Peace and love!
google avatar

Michael Q.

Yelp
Came here for a team building event and we had a great time! It was so much fun to hang out and throw out some axes at a board. Great time, well organized and our coach was Jacob he was awesome at giving out tips and helping us out. It was BYOB keep that in mind as well. Great team building activity or even for a date!
google avatar

Maurice H.

Yelp
Great experience. I'm happy that I chose Urban Axes to be the first axe throwing spot I visited here in Austin. Love the fact that you're coached as you're playing. The tips I got from Leo was very helpful since it was my first time. He lowkey molded me to a start last night lol. Thanks Yelp Austin for the invite and the opportunity to have fun and meet cool people in the process.
google avatar

Dao T.

Yelp
This was our first time here and we did it with friends! It was actually really fun! We had an instructor that gave us the rules and breakdown of what we should and shouldn't do. There was 4 of us and we all got to do some practice rounds! Then we did a tournament ! I'm super competitive however i finished last lol It was still fun! It's also BYOB! 1 1/2 hours was perfect time! We definitely will be back ! Make sure to tip your instructor !
google avatar

Kimba L.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience and David was the best coach for both someone like me, who had never done anything in this vein and my son who in his near 30s was really great at this endeavor! We popped in on a Sunday and had alot of fun in a whole new way. I would highly recommend it and although the large groups of weekly league members were loud and a bit distracting, alot could be learned just from watching them. I would gladly go back again and maybe hit more bullseyes.
google avatar

Geanene T.

Yelp
Awesome Sunday Fun Day! First, Leo is AMAZING!!!! He took his time with me and a friend explaining what to do and what not to do. He gave us great advice on how to handle the ax, position it, and release it. He also helped with aim. By the way, this was my first ax throwing experience and I got a bullseye. Luck? I doubt it. It was our great instructor. Hope to be back soon with more people.
google avatar

Jazmyne M.

Yelp
This experience was amazing. Morgan was the BEST hype woman ever. So helpful with tips on how to throw the axe and have fun. We will definitely be back and request her again!! Loved the safe environment but also fun atmosphere. 10/10 recommend for everyone to try!!!
google avatar

Alice C.

Yelp
Everyone who works here is super friendly and nice! We made an appointment and had a blast. We were a little anxious going in because we've never axe thrown before and didn't know what to expect. Our coach was awesome, he eased us in and gave so much encouragement. They really know how to teach you and make you feel comfortable. Remember to wear closed toed shoes! This place is BYOB. And don't worry if you're not strong - it's not about strength! Super fun activity to do
google avatar

Mike D.

Yelp
Took my team here and had a blast. Absolutely loved our coach Scott. He kept the energy up and the whole team left with smiles on our faces. Recommend this to anyone who's visiting Austin!
google avatar

Richard N.

Yelp
Bowling? Skeeball? Minigolf? NO! The modern fun group activity is in Axes. Don't be hesitant about it, just go out and try it. The more you do it, the better you get at it. At first it was a little frustrating because I could not get the axe to stick. But after a few tries, like learning to throw a baseball for the first time, you gain muscle memory and you'll be sticking the axe in no time. It works like this: - Walk-in's welcome; Reservations required for larger parties - $20/person/hour (+tax) - Sign the e-waiver on the ipads next to the entrance - Each area has an Axpert for rules and coaching - BYOB! (I highly recommend); no liquor allowed My only regret is that our time spent was over so quickly. I think part of it is that we were a walk-in (as opposed to reserving), and we had no choice but to share the lanes with another party, meaning less axing. For this regrettably docked one star.
google avatar

Shauna S.

Yelp
Such a super fun experience! We felt safe and educated about the whole process. They are super professional and outstanding communication. I came with three others. BYOB was a nice feature for sure. Our coach was really cool. We had fun competing and learning this sport. Half of us left wanting to build our own axe cages at our houses. Ps... that won't be happening. A super fun alternative to a whatever night out!!!
google avatar

Jack C.

Yelp
This one is going to be short and sweet! Just like my Valentine! I wanted to do something fun with Robynn G this weekend and since the pandemic hit we have been uber cautious! Well, we didn't kill each other these past 10 months. In fact, we grew closer together. Silver lining in a dark cloud. Boom. I made the reservation for Valentine's Day weekend. We filled out the waiver online and were good to go once we arrived. The lovely ladies at the front gave us complimentary champagne to set the mood. It's been a minute so, Robynn and I needed to get back in the swing of things. Literally! Haha! A-A-Ron was our couch. He ended up spending more time with the other couple he was supervising. Why? Because we have our own axes and got back into the swing of things fairly quickly. Bull's-eyes after Bull's-eyes we did our little lovebird photoshoot and action videos. Good times! It was nice to feel somewhat normal again. They enforced social distancing, masks, and tons of safety protocols. Just what we were looking for! We couldn't stop smiling underneath our masked faces. 10/10 would recommend Urban Axes for a little fun time in your life during these more than interesting times we are all wading through like an eighties character through quicksand.
google avatar

Montrel L.

Yelp
My group & I had a great experience today! Morgan was an amazing coach. She made the experience so much fun, and safe as well. She had lots of axe puns, excellent pointers, and an awesome personality! If you're thinking about going, then I would definitely recommend doing so.
google avatar

Garnie B.

Yelp
TL;DR just go, fun, safe, engaging, and fun..did I say fun twice... Plenty of parking, but if you drive at night, pay attention because it is a bit challenging to find it at night. The entrance does not face Airport Blvd.. so go to the left of the building and walk to the last door with the Urban Axe logo. Once inside, take an immediate right and fill out the waiver form on the iPad kiosks...and have your I'd ready. Staff and coaches are awesome. They kept is safe, helped and provided tips. They even help organize any competitive play if that is what you want. Plenty of room for large groups, and each set of Lane's has an area for a table and the venue provides a refrigerator just in case you need it. Highly recommend this place, so I will be back. And bringing friends.

Joseph S.

Yelp
This is one, if not the best activity to do in Austin!!! BYOB and Food! We reserved a private event for a birthday and were not disappointed. We had the best Coach helping us along the way. I would recommend this for small and large groups. It is super fun and will want you wanting more time throwing axes. You compete with your friends and family and make awesome memories. Also, tip your coach, they work super hard to make sure ya'll have a great time. Lastly, buy some of those T shirts you won't regret it. Cheer!!!

Sandra M.

Yelp
Loved this fun outing ! It was so cool to learn with a "coach" and just have fun ! So interesting how you get into it and really get competitive about it ! Good times in Austin !

LeeZa M.

Yelp
Went to Urban Axes for a work event/team builder. So much fun! Nice facility, excellent instructors who were super funny while of course being safety conscious. Its also BYOB which added to the fun team building vibe. Cant wait to go back! Turns out I'm pretty good with an axe!
google avatar

Teri K.

Yelp
Recently visited urban axes for a company team building event. Aaron was a great instructor for our group of six. He offered many useful tips and made the competition fun. Despite the fact that it's BYOB the staff is very cautious of safety for all guests. Super fun place
google avatar

Jeff U.

Yelp
Wow What can I say Dick and Kendra? Well our coaches rocked Adam's birthday party 2019 was a smashing success Threw axes for a while Round robin then seeded Then threw tourney and what do ya know-I won!! Molly and i had a great time thank you Heather! I recommend this place highly Bring your own beer Food cake etc (no hard liq) A lot of fun
google avatar

Princesleah A.

Yelp
Had the best time at Urban Axes today. Our coach Morgan was the coolest ever and she made our experience 100 times better. Full of energy and just an overall badass. Can't wait to come back or sign up for a league!‍ and BYOB makes it worth it too
google avatar

Yelp
This was SO MUCH FUN! If you're looking to do something different, feel like you're being somewhat active, and don't want to go outside in the 100 degree weather right now, go hang out at Urban Axes. I really didn't know what to expect and made the mistake of wearing flip flops which I immediately realized was dumb when I walked in. Unlike a gun range where you're aiming through a stall there is no half wall between you and the target. This makes sense because axe throwing technique involves your whole body. Luckily they have some loner shoes so I was able to participate without any worries for my toes. You do not need any prior knowledge of axe throwing before coming here. Your group is provided with an axe throwing coach who will make sure you are safe and give you pointers so you can throw like a pro. For $20 you get to throw for an hour. You share a lane with another person which works out because you get a chance to take break and have drinks if you bring some. They even have refrigerators by the lanes so you can keep your drinks cold! I'm very glad Urban Axes is close by and can't wait to go back. I'm thinking this will be a great after work activity instead of the typical happy hour. Everyone can blow off some steam while they have a beer!

Tania W.

Yelp
David was the bees knees. Choose him for your teacher fo real. He's super knowledgeable and hilarious
