Googled "best coffee shops in Bowery" and this result for sure didn't disappoint. Super chill and cool vibe, VERY nice staff and last but not least, great coffee and baked goods. Highly recommend.

First time, and definitely not last. I had a floral matcha latte with rose syrup and it was superb. Highly recommend. I don't usually order matcha latte often but coming back for this one. It's a very cozy place, and has additional seating downstairs. I was traveling all day and needed to charge my phone and was happy to see outlets by each table upstairs. I did see some gluten free baked goods too. So Urban Backyard made my day easier and more delicious! Will be back.

I stopped by this place after remembering my visit from two years ago while passing by. The cozy interior and friendly staff still made me excited to try their drinks and desserts. They even had these adorable cactus-shaped muffins that caught my eye. After some deliberation, I ordered a Matcha Latte with a Ube Cookie. The rich matcha flavor combined perfectly with the dense, intense taste of the ube cookie, making for a truly satisfying experience. Though my visit was brief, it was a nice little mood booster and offered something unique. Thanks for the great moment! :)

Urban Backyard is an absolute gem! The moment I walked in, I was captivated by how aesthetically beautiful and peaceful the space is. The greenery and soft lighting make it feel like a true urban oasis in the middle of the city. I had the lavender latte, and it was simply delicious. The balance of flavors was perfect—subtle, aromatic, and creamy, making it one of the best lattes I’ve ever had. The staff is also incredibly friendly and attentive, adding to the overall charm of the place.

Visited in december since I was going to NYC for holiday and saw this place on my instagram reels! I have to say the hot ube latte has got to be the best latte i’ve ever had! So sad there’s no urban backyard in FL T-T The cupcakes were delicious!

This is one of our favorite coffee shops in NYC. Every time we are in town we come here and have our favorite lattes . Today we had , red velvet and lavender latte . Super delicious . Highly recommend this place if you are a true coffee enthusiast.

Super delicious and crisp coffee/drinks. Shop was small with little to no seating when you first walk in, with a cute neighborhood, cozy, hipster vibe. It's super cute inside. My fav was the ube latte. We went during a weekday morning, and it wasn't busy at all so the service was super quick! I really want to try their garden cupcakes and regret not getting one, so next time I'm in the city I'll be quick to come back.

First time at urban backyard and it was the perfect time to go during fall. There are only a couple of tables and a bench for indoor seating on the first floor, but there is a bottom floor with a lot more tables and chairs. There's also a little bit of seating outside. I ordered the pumpkin pie latte to drink there and it was absolutely delicious. I will preface by saying that it seems like it was a fall special. We were able to get a seat indoors and also tried their banana loaf bread, which was so good. I wanna go back and try some other drinks.

I have been wanting to check out urban backyard for a long time so I decided to stop here after my doctor appointment. I ordered two mini succulent cupcakes and they were delicious. The frosting was soft. Such a cute cafe. I sat down to read my book for an hour as I had time and wanted to enjoy the coffee shop and fully enjoy the additional seating space that they have. 10/10 recommend coming here for their cupcakes especially if you are a plant enthusiast/lover.

Cute coffee shop in Nolita! It gets busy fast. Luckily on a Friday mid-morning it wasn't too bad and I could find a seat upstairs. They also have an electric downstairs seating area with sustainability in mind. Vintage tv, wooden seats, dim lights.... It's cozy. There's also a single restroom there. They have free WiFi. I ordered the ube latte as it sounded unique and is a pretty purple color. The latte was good (not overly sweet) and comes in a large cup. The color was more of a faint lavender vs the dark purple you see in other photos online. You can get it with one or two shots of espresso as the machine automatically makes two. I got just one shot and took the second on the side. The latte is just under $9 and I nice treat. They also have a menu of baked goods and breakfast items. Staff were friendly.

This is a wonderful coffee shop to relax and or study an work at! I got the earl grey lavender latte and it was delicious and rich. The lavender flavor was not overwhelming and was well-balanced with the fresh earl grey tea. The interior of the shop is designed like a backyard and there's even a basement level below the main level where there's a bathroom and several tables you can sit at. There's also some small tables set out front. The overall vibe is cozy and inviting and there's also free wifi. The service from the staff was friendly and attentive and they had my drink made in less than a few minutes after I ordered. I also enjoyed the cute latte art on top. This is a great coffee shop to check out if you are in the Soho area and they make wonderful drinks here and it's a good place to wind down at throughout the day!

Wanted to try a new dessert shop and found this place with my friends. We were so hyped up to come here because of how cute the mini cupcakes looked like online. The seating in the basement was closed for the day, so it was really hard to find seats because it was a very small cafe with limited seating. Wanted to give a shoutout to the workers because they are so sweet and kind. They helped accommodate me as well as my friends and loved the hospitality. The only thing I was pretty sad about were the cupcakes because they looked amazing, but tasted kind of stale. They were definitely refrigerated and didn't have that nice cake texture to it. The frosting has no taste and was a bit too much for me and my friends to handle. Their other bakery items and drinks look great though. I'll probably be back to try the other things, but buying the cupcakes is definitely a one time situation. Food: 3/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 4/5

The beauty of cities. There is something nice in every nook and cranny. This location had a really nice cup of coffee. Lucky we were able to get a seat and just relax for a bit I'm the corner. Remember that there are seats downstairs!

Urban Backyard is a cozy spot serving up familiar coffee drinks as well off-the-beaten ones plus a selection of baked eats like cakes slices, cookies, and cupcakes. the NoLita coffee shop is a space with a warm interior that is friendly to the eye. filed with plants and elements of a patio turned into an inside space, the coffee spot has a unique vibe. stopped here for an iced Americano coffee, last month and was served a tasty brew of coffee providing some cooling relief on a warm afternoon. the staff is amicable and put their efforts into your coffee orders. while the interior seating is limited and there are a few sidewalk seats, it is a worthwhile stop for anyone who enjoys coffee and wants an escape from the din of NYC.

the cafe was SO cute, very small though. 2 1-2 person tables and it was still quite cramped. not a place to sit in and hang out. however the walk-in is adorable, you walk across this like stone path thing like you're really in someone's backyard! it was adorbs. the barista was sweet. i got a hot lavender latte, and the presentation was so cutesie but the actual latte was just okay. nothing special, it was your typical latte. i didn't really taste the lavender unfortunately unless i was accidentally crunching on the lavender petals (which i did multiple times). overall cute ambience and typical coffee (nothing wrong with it!). i wish i'd tried the ube latte because it seemed very unique but i got scared.

5 stars for their lavender latte and americano. We have yet to try their famous cupcakes because they ran out when we got there in the afternoon, but still a great coffee spot in Nolita. Lavender latte with oatmilk was rich, topped with creamy foam instead of a slinky top that oatmilk usually gives out. The lavender was subtle and not overpowering and was well balanced out with the espresso. I asked for half decaf but they do not offer that- they instead suggested 1 shot instead of a double shot of espresso and the drink still came out great. Americano was straight forward, bold and strong. Interior is comfortable and cozy, narrow and limited seating in the main area, and they also have a downstairs area with seating and books with the door right next to the main door. Cute spot to spend a short time just to get out of the bustle outside.

Very cool entrance and spot, you walk along some stones like you're in someone's backyard leading to the coffee shop. We ordered the ube latte and the lavender latte. The barista said people say it's the best ube latte in town. I think that raised my expectations too high because I wasn't too impressed and I'm sorry to say but I've had better even in NY. With that said, I really loved the lavender latte! They have cute pastries too.

It has been awhile since my last visit. Nestled near SoHo, its botanical atmosphere adorned with festive halloween decors like pumpkins and terrifying fake spiders. ＊ Pumpkin Pie Latte Its velvety foam was generously sprinkled with a delicate dusting of pumpkin spice, and the first sip was nothing short of a cinnamon-y and gingery aroma. I had some really sweet pumpkin spice lattes before but this one was lightly sweetened. A shot of espresso provided a robust and slightly bitter undertone to balance out the pumpkin purée. ＊ Rose Cardamom Latte I usually steer away from rose lattes as I'm afraid of the artificial aroma of rose syrup, but this rose cardamom latte slapped. It combined espresso and milk with the natural fragrance of rose and cardamom. Some dried rose petals were added as a garnish to make it aesthetically pleasing. ＊ Masala Chai Mini Cupcake ＊ Pumpkin Spice Mini Cupcake Aww their mini succulent cupcakes are almost too cute to eat! These eye candies are obviously designed to be appreciated visually. The flavor of pumpkin spice was weak, but both the flavors and cupcake texture were better than the masala chai one. FYI these spooky cuties are available from noon! ＊ Pumpkin Loaf w/ Spiced Cream Cheese Well...probably the most awful loaf I've ever eaten. The second when we cut the loaf with our forks, we could literally feel the terribly dry and crumbly texture. It was so bad that we told the barista and he refunded us. I really appreciated their immediate remedy, so I will still go back for their high quality coffee but definitely not their pastries.

The space is small, but cute. There are only three tables inside, and we luckily were able to get one. The service was kind. Although I saw a photo of a succulent cupcake, they didn't have any that day and we opted for a slice of their yuzu loaf instead. I'm glad we did, because it sold out after and it was the perfect sweet accompaniment to our coffees. The flat white was a tad sweeter than I like, but not by much. And even though they had a steady stream of people coming in, it wasn't overwhelming and we enjoyed our stay there.

Popped in Urban Backyard on a very windy Saturday with a friend while shopping in SoHo. It's terribly small inside (2-3 tables in total) but with additional seating downstairs. We didn't bother with either because it was very packed and fully.. full. We caffeinated ourselves with a Cappuccino and a Cold Brew and said we'd hope next time, there would be some seating available! Not much of a selection of pastries from what I could see, but the ones I did peek were pretty quite cute and unique, but very SMOL. Maybe next time I'll try some!

~ Pumpkin Pie Latte $7 ~ [Rating: 5/5] One of the best pumpkin spice latte I have had so far! You do get the fragrant spices, and surprisingly it is not sweet! Maybe coz it uses pumpkin purée mix & pumpkin spices to achieve the flavour rather than syrup. Wish it also came with latte art! ~ Rose Cardamom Latte $6.75 ~ [Rating: 4.75/5] This is sweeter than the former one, as it uses a rose cardamom tea syrup, but it's a level of sweetness that I tolerant. Cardamom's unique flavour & aroma worked beautifully with the espresso and milk. You don't really get the rose flavour, but surly it contributes to the overall wonderful taste. ~ Pumpkin Loaf w/ Spiced Cream Cheese $4.75 ~ [Rating: 1/5] One of the worst loaf I have ever had the displeasure of trying As soon as my fork cut into the cake, I immediately know this is bone dry and crumbly. I also didn't really get much flavour out of it. We had to return it, and I'm so glad the staff was really cool about it & processed a refund right away. ~ Mini Cupcakes (Marsala Chai & Pumpkin Spice flavoured) $4.75 ~ [Rating: 3/5] We had no expectation for these, so naturally we couldn't be let down by the lack of flavours & dense texture. Plus it tasted much better than the loaf both flavour & texture wise! What we are here for, is to admire these cute looking little guys Order if you simply want an instagrammable pic! Will I be back? Yes! So coming back for those latte again! Not the cakes though (altho I may buy the mini cupcakes again when they released Christmas design haha)

I think Urban Backyard is great if you know what to order. Otherwise, I would say it's pricy for what you get. I almost walked past the place coming here for the first time because the place is small. There are only 2-3 tables in the cafe and one table and a stool outside. With how popular this place is, they definitely could use a space expansion. Aside from the size of the space, the vibe inside is nice if you're lucky enough to snag a table. We weren't able to sit inside but we took our pastries and ate them on the mini stool (makeshift table) outside. The baristas were super nice and brought our drinks to us seeing that there was no space to stand inside while we waited for our drinks. My favorite thing taste wise was my partner's Iced Ube Latte with espresso which you could tell the ube syrup was made in house. Less of a fan of my Iced Rose Matcha Latte which I found was a little sweeter than I would've liked and a little too heavy on the rose. For pastries we got the lychee rose loaf and the earl gray cupcake. I had the same issue with the lychee rose loaf... a little too sweet and heavy on the rose. The earl gray succulent cupcake, on the other hand, was delicious and beautiful... except for the fact that it was pretty expensive for how small the cupcake was. If you're looking for a specialty latte or matcha, there are other places in the city with bigger spaces, a bathroom, and drinks that are just as good and if not better. If you want the instagrammable succulent cupcake, then Urban Backyard is your place.

Popped in for a midday coffee boost. Overall, the vibe is cute. Fairly small but with outdoor seating, which is what we used. The drinks we got were pretty standard and fairly priced. The decor inside was interesting and while we didn't eat, the food the people inside were eating looked delicious. Don't know if I would specifically trek here but it fit what we were looking for in the area.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a place to get some work done. This place was on my saved list for a while so we decided to give it a try. I got the iced ube latte and he got the yuzuade with mint mojito. The ube latte had a strong ube flavor and I enjoyed it a lot! The yuzuade was very refreshing for a hot summer day but I wish the mint flavor would be stronger. Staffs were nice and they also have great WiFi. The cafe was very small with only two small tables inside but it had more tables outside. The drinks were pretty pricy, total of these two drinks were around $15. Will recommend if you're looking for a cute cafe to hang out with friends but probably not a place that I'll come often because of the price!

Urban Backyard is a really cute coffee shop that I'd recommend visiting! There are only a couple of tables and benches inside, so it might be hard to find seating, but there are some more seats outside or you can take your coffee to go. My friend had been before and said that she had a great latte from here, so we decided to go together one morning. We both got Floral Matcha Lattes, but I got the lavender and she got the rose. The Sunday morning that we went, we had some beautiful latte art on top which was a nice surprise! Of course most importantly, the lattes tasted amazing and I was glad that we went.

Pricey (around $7.50 including tax) but I think that's how much a specialty drink costs nowadays! They make their own ube-coconut mix, and you can really taste the quality and freshness. Seemed like there were bits of real shredded ube. I went around 10am on a Friday, and the succulent cupcakes weren't available. Not sure when they are. I came for the ube latte so didn't mind, but just FYI in case you're coming mainly for the gorgeous cupcakes.

loved my latte and this place is SO cute! the entry way in particular is so aesthetic and unique - haven't seen anything like it in the area. truly feels like a backyard oasis. i see a lot of reviews stating that there's only 2 tables inside - there's actually a whole cozy downstairs with 12 more seats. there aren't windows and no AC there though, that's only upstairs - advise against sitting here on a hot day. i'll def be returning soon to try their autumn seasonal drinks and the cupcakes.

Picked up an iced coffee on a hot summer day and it was very water down. Took me almost 2 hrs to finish as I didn't want to waste it but it just wasn't good.

I appreciate the clarification on the pumpkin loaf but all other aspects of my review still stand. I understand that the cafe was busy but a 'welcome' or a 'be right with you' is never too difficult to express. I have worked as a barista before so I have been able to experience both sides of this conversation and I know what a difference it makes to acknowledge and welcome a customer when they enter. Secondly, it was not another customer that yelled and whistled, it was your employee with the attitude. To my recollection, I moved to grab my drink as soon as I heard my order being called since I knew that the cafe was busy. If I was unable to hear beforehand then my apologies but the cafe was loud and busy at this point. That does not excuse your employee whistling at me to get my attention when we had already made eye contact as I was walking up to the counter. This was the most appalling and disappointing part of my experience at your cafe. I understand that the space your cafe has available is not under your control, but what you can do is set expectations for your employees and ensure that they follow them. I have never been treated this way before and cannot wrap my head around the fact that you and your business will not take responsibility for the actions of your staff. I will not be going back and will not recommend any of my friends and family in the city to visit. Again, as a barista myself, your response is lacking in empathy and accountability for your business' actions.

Finally tried the mini succulent cupcakes($4.75 per cupcake). Got the red velvet and dark chocolate. They are really cute but you can literally eat them in one bite! The buttercream was surprising not sweet. The cupcakes itself were ok, were a bit dry.

Barista with weird curls and edges ? whistling at us like dogs to get our order while we were already on our way to pick it up. Worst part is that he didn't even include everything in our order. If you're going to be whistling like I'm classically conditioned or something at least give me the right treat.

I got an iced rose oat milk latte and it was absolutely delicious! It was quite pricey though, adding oat milk & syrup to my coffee made it nearly $9

What a lovely coffee shop!! I wanted to stop by because I saw the cute cupcakes, but it turns out they're no longer available. I stopped by anyway! The interior is so welcoming and unique, so I wanted to stop by. I ordered their floral matcha latte and my partner got a drip coffee. The prices were a bit on the higher side. There was only one person at the counter, so the space was filling up, but we were in and out within 10 minutes. The latte was delicious, but it's really the interior that drew me in. It's a bit tiny inside with only a few tables. I'd love to stop by again in the future to try some other drinks!

Had this place bookmarked for awhile, and it was a little disappointing. Drinks were pretty pricey, and there was definitely limited seating. Decorations were pretty with lots of plants/succulents though! But you really get a bit intimate with the other party sitting near you b/c the space is so small.

I was torn to order Ube Latte or Earl Grey Lavender Latte but ultimately went with the Ube Latte. Delicious. Not too much flavor that I don't taste coffee. I'm sure the Earl Grey would've been yummy too. Very tiny compared to what I was looking for based on photos posted, I almost missed it. Not much pastry selection when I went.

Originally came here to try the succulent cupcakes, but I also ended up ordering a latte and a slice of the matcha loaf. I was very happy with both! The mini cupcakes are definitely small but packed with flavor. The buttercream was so tasty! Very cozy and small interior. We will be back for sure.

Apparently, each person can only buy up to 6 mini cupcakes if you do walk-in. If you need to buy more, you can order online in advance. I bake sometimes too and I understand that it takes a lot of effort to decorate the cupcakes, but I would appreciate if the order limitation is clearly listed on the website so people can plan ahead. Currently there are four base flavors available: earl grey, dark chocolate, vanilla and matcha. I tried earl grey and vanilla, both base are a bit dry. The butter on the top literally tastes like butter; as for the ratio, it's also a large amount of butter to the tiny mini cupcake base. I have to admit I am disappointed. Hojicha latte was okay at the beginning before any of the ice melted. Once ice starts melting, the hojicha flavor disappears, the only flavor left is diluted milk.

I was excited to try urban backyard, but was honestly looking forward to their succulent cupcakes and pastries I saw online. When we walked in I didn't see any sign of them, and the bakery case only had typical coffee shop pastries. After doing more research online it looks like their cupcakes and cakes are only available to pre order. Learned that the hard way. Either way I still got some coffee and went with their seasonal peppermint Candy mocha. I subbed with almond milk. It was very rich with a strong dark chocolate aftertaste. It wasn't my favorite drink but wasn't bad. The space inside is small with only one main table. There's some outdoor seating available as well, but only 2-3 tables. It seems to be more of a grab n go style place.

I have to say the purple ube latte is what drew me to this cute little cafe, and I'm a sucker for anything ube. The ube latte is tasty, mostly of coconut, I wished there were more ube flavorful. We came back here twice on our 1 night trip because they make good lattes and cappuccinos :)

Urban backyard is a cute coffee shop that sells a variety of unique coffee flavors with a floral accent. We got the iced lavender latte (which was my favorite), the iced vanilla iced latte, and iced ube latte (with espresso). The ube latte doesn't automatically come with espresso, but the cashier was very informative on what I can add. The mini succulent cupcakes were absolutely adorable, although we didn't buy any this time, I definitely will come back to try some!

A really cute coffee shop that's kind of hidden away but worth going to! There were so many plants it was like a little plant oasis. I got the Ube latte with oat milk (FYI, oat milk is an extra 75 cents) and it was a little pricey ($7.89) but the drink itself was so rich with flavor and it was fairly large! I ended up staying to do work for a few hours and it was a great atmosphere with free wifi. (But warning, there are only two small tables inside.) I also bought a slice of the Earl grey banana bread (not pictured here) and I could really taste the tea flavor along with the banana -- definitely ask for it to be warmed up for extra deliciousness. The only thing was, it ended up being $4.90 which was also a little bit pricey. Overall, everything was absolutely delicious and I would probably come back for the Ube latte alone.

Super quaint coffee shop, that's makes you feel like you're standing in a beautiful garden. They are known for being environmentally friendly, their cupcakes that's looks like a terrarium, exceptional latte art and seasonal concoctions. The decor is one on the big reason a lot of ppl want to visit, stone slabs surrounded by small rocks, refurbished wood. If you're looking for a Instagram worthy space with great coffee and treats this is the space for you. PS: as of right now you can only order the cupcakes online, they will be back in store 2023. And do ask if you can take pics since it's a small space and you want to be respectful of others.

No heads up that tea would take so long to make. Waited unnecessarily long. Staff was busy making birthday coffees for friends that cut the line. Have been here before in 2022 and the change in staff is unfortunate. I miss the calm and warm energy the cafe carried before.
